    Doner Rice Bowl
    Anna L.

Located in the American Dream Mall, German Doner Kebab is a causal halal doner kebab eatery. There are plenty of seats. Food is good. I enjoyed the original doner kebab. The bread is nice and chewy. The rice bowl is a bit small and boring. There isn't much meat. Stick with the original for a satisfying bite.

It was early Today evening so fairly quiet at American Dream. We wanted a mix of meat and greens and decided to stop by here. Is a simple decorated place with menu and drawing with description of the meals. We were able to quickly get online and decided on two orders I'd the doner gym box. Wanted a little carbs, we added fries for additional 50 cents. One with beef and one with combo (chicken & beef). Once ordered we picked a table and wait for them to bring our food. It came with three sauces. The food came hot and the fries were crispy. It was a good balance of warmth and crisp from the salad. For me I felt I received more fries then salad sans so it was a little more greasy then anticipated. Next time I'll stick to just chicken doner, and order a side of fries instead. Overall the food was delicious and different from your typical mall food. We'll come back.

The food was great and pretty unique, their original is definitely the original for a reason. The waffle was so crispy. They gave so much sauces included as well. The service was Al's great. Very clean and spacious area. For $15 each was such a deal. The fries meal combo added the best mix of flavors too. definitely get the flaming fries flavor for a good pop of spice flavor!

We were at the American Dream mall and wanted to try something different. My husband suggested this place. It looked like a typical fast food place with some booth seating and bar stools along tall narrow tables. The name with kebab we had expected meat skewers but it was more like the meat was cooked on a vertical rotisserie and meat was shaved off of it. (Think shawarma) We ordered the Doner rice bowl and the Doner box with cheese. We were give a buzzer and when the food was ready a server walked over with our food and retrieved the buzzer. My husband's rice bowl was ok. He didn't hate it but it didn't wow him either. I liked my box but to be honest the meat I got (beef and chicken) were tasteless and needed the cheese sauce and jalapeños. The fries were good. There was one person walking around making sure everything was ok. He was very friendly and elevated the experience.

Since I was in AD on a weekday evening, decided to stop by Doner to get dinner to go. When I came to the store, it was empty, no customers. But all the sitting areas, tables were very clean. It looked nice. I went to the register to put my order. The lady seemed little annoyed, no greeting, no interaction. I ordered the Doner gym box. It was ready in about 5 minutes. The box came with lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes alongside Doner chicken kebab. The chicken was dry. It wasn't appealing.

I've been wanting to give this place a try since it opened however I have not wanted to go near this nightmare of a place. I did go when I had a day off to grab this for lunch unfortunately it took more than 15 minutes so you are forced to pay five dollars plus tax for parking I ordered the original kebab mixed with chicken and beef and was shocked at how large this sandwich was. The slices of meat were almost thinner than paper and super flavorful along with the amazing sauces it made for a fantastic meal without having to eat any sides. I would absolutely come back if I'm already there.

Beef empanada is overpriced ($4 for1) & tastes like a calzone... not in a good way. And the wrap reminds us of a Big Mac but value isn't bad. Would prefer a different bread though

delish! hot and fresh, we grabbed a quick bite here for lunch after seeing the aquarium. there was a short line for lunchtime so we had to wait to order, but our food came out quickly. the curry rice is to die for and i loved the crispy chicken bits in the chicken kebab. the bread on the original kebab is super tasty as well. we loved all of the dipping sauces (try them all). the beef was just okay, my husband liked it but i thought the chicken was way better. even tho i loved the sandwich, the rice bowl knocked it out of the park. especially at the end when you can mix all the crunchy lettuce, savory rice, chicken bits, and white sauce together! there are no highchairs available so parents may find it tricky to eat with little ones. the dining space inside isnt bad but my recommendation is get the food to go and eat it in the L2 food hall area. they sell honest juice boxes too which is very nice for kids. servers were super nice, overall a great food option at the mall!

Nestled away in the depths of the American Dream Mall is this unique restaurant. I was recommended to try it so I did. The meat on the spit looked great and the description of the doner box sounded great as well. I got the box with chicken, fries, cheese and jalapeños. I got it to go. The lady at the front seemed a little annoyed and forgot to add a fork and any sauces. I should have looked in the bag before heading out. I feel like the chicken was well spiced but a little dry. Also it was overpowered by the cheese sauce.

The best doner kebab I've ever had. The egg rolls are amazing too. Just 10/10. The garlic sauce is so good I want to find a recipe. The atmosphere is annoying -- it's just an order-at-the-counter place in the crowded American Dream mall, but oh my god is the food good.

    Donna V.

Omg!! I have no idea what I just ate... but it was freaking great!!! Had the original with beef. It had lettuce and tomatoes with a spicy garlic sauce on a waffle type bread. It was delicious. Highly recommend you give it a try!

    $9.99 for quesadilla
    Chris L.

I want to like this place but it's kinda pricey for what it is. the meal with drink will almost be close to $20 so I opted for 3 kebobs and a quesadilla. the menu board says it's $7.99 but was charged $9.99. not sure why the price difference but the math is not mathing. after they slice the meat it doesn't look like they grill it. afterwards. leaving the sandwiches cold.and not as flavorful.

    Doner Kebab Panini
    Cat C.

First visit to American Dream in NJ, we were there late and looking for a place that was still open. We came across this restaurant and decided to try it. It is one of the few places that is Halal. We ordered a panini and a bowl. The panini was delicious. The bowl was good, portions seemed a little small. You place the order, given a pager and place the pager on the spot on the table. We waited at least 15 minutes to the point we were wondering are we supposed to get up and pick up our food? It finally arrived. There is booth, table and low community table seating. Considering all the food options in the mall, this is good one.

3 stars for portion sizes that are enough to feed you for a whole day…read more.. Soo I was craving a chicken and rice platter drenched in white sauce. I know there's a million Halal spots popping up, and I will admit I'm very, very picky when it comes to platters. I miss the good ol' days on 53rd street in NYC... I came by around 10pm and was served quickly by a friendly employee. They have platters, burgers, wraps, wings, chicken tenders, fries, etc. I ordered the chicken rice platter (~$13.50). They cook the meat fresh on the grill and then you choose your toppings at the salad bar (olives, onions, peppers, tomatoes, etc.). It's a bit pricier than other places, but the portion size is huge. The container felt HEAVY lol. It's just a shame it went to waste because I really didn't enjoy the food. I only finished about half of it before I tossed the rest. The white sauce was almost flavorless and was VERY watery. The chicken wasn't as well-seasoned. No distinct spices or aroma. Every bite left me with a very greasy and salty taste in my mouth. The side salad was just okay. I was disappointed. The only saving grace was the rice... it was fluffy and the best part of the whole platter. Not sure if I came on an off night or...? Don't let my review stop you from trying. It might just not be the Halal spot for me.

This is definitely a place to bring your side piece... your main girl will never know. Unless your main girl is a TJ MAXX shopper, that's right across the street, in that case be cautious taking your side piece here.

The food - delicious, packed with flavor. My kids were baffled how proteins they're used to eating (beef, chicken) could taste so differently thanks to unique spices and whatnot. The meal came to about $20 per person (no drinks, just the entrée) and while the 'Kabob Koobideh' was a generous portion, the falafel sandwich (for $15) is wildly overpriced (it's about $10 from Greek Town right across the street, never mind about $8 from Mamoun's just about two minutes away over on Rt. 17N). Happy to have tried it, would come back (while grumbling about the cost under my breath because I'm a crabby old man).

We ordered Gol Gappay, lamb biryani, Gosht Karahi, and a naan. The Gol Gappay was interesting. Crispy shells filled with chickpeas and potato, with a tangy, salty, savory flavor. Adding a little yogurt balanced it out nicely. Definitely something different. The lamb biryani was around the low teens price-wise and came in a huge portion with plenty of meat. The lamb was slightly dry -- felt like it may have been prepared earlier and kept warm -- but still flavorful and within expectations for the price. The standout for us was the Gosht Karahi. Tender but slightly chewy lamb, very savory and well seasoned, with lots of large chunks of meat. It looks a bit pricey at first, but considering how much meat you actually get, it felt like a solid value. We packed up half of it and still thought the leftovers were more generous than some restaurants' fresh servings. The naan was massive. Good flavor, although it didn't have that super fresh-out-of-the-tandoor smoky char. Funny enough, reheating it in the air fryer at home made it even better. One thing to know: every dish here runs large, so this place is better with a group. There are parking spots in front, but not many.

It's unfortunate that I have to post this as I feel despite us voicing our concern (multiple times) in person with the staff and also on the phone when ordering take out, the staff is not trained and do not take certain dietary restrictions seriously such as food allergies. After having a child who suffers from peanut and egg allergies, whenever we have dined or ordered from here as of lately, we have politely asked for certain food not to be served together and prepared properly. After expressing this, the staffs answer is rude and with an attitude and us being told "ok i'll just put it in a separate plate" after it being cross contaminated and served. Then during a take out order when we called to alert that there is an allergy, to please ensure the food is properly handled and packed separately from egg-containing items, we were told (specifically by Jaspreet) it is already prepared and packed, so the best that can be done is taken out and packed separately instead of adhering to the urgency of the matter and re-preparing the food. Our child broke out in hives due to their negligence in the past and I fear that their inefficiency to understand the seriousness of this matter will one day result in legal action being taken against this establishment if God forbid someone else has a reaction or worse a Fatality. My post isn't intended towards the quality of the food, it is more so to be heard and create awareness on this matter as it seems this establishment can care less towards your health needs. Update: We were contacted by ownership (Ishrath) and accused of being in the wrong and were met with disrespect and advised not to come to this establishment anymore as they cannot meet our "crazy demands." We should have been heard out, which was explained to co-ownership (Sobia) a few minutes after my review was posted, that this wasn't a personal jab towards the establishment however has happened to us on multiple accounts, specifically from staff member Jaspreet the past two times in a matter of two weeks. There was no apology on the matter, just defensiveness in a "sweet tone." This is more so a validation that despite us voicing our concerns multiple times in person, it has fallen on deaf ears and it is unfortunate that we have had to go to such extremes as posting this to be heard. Since my post, we see the attempt to have our post buried, and quite frankly hope it made a difference, albeit they have lost our business however we know the restaurant will still thrive. Still wishing them the best of luck and hopefully prevents any future consequence on this matter.

Turkish cuisine is a unique combination of flavors, spices, and herbs developed over thousands of years, influenced by the Central Asian nomads and Arabic, Persian, Italian, French, and Eastern European cultures. A great view of the NYC skyline is visible from their enclosed back patio. Their menu features Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine with a modern twist and serves alcohol.
