PARK SIDE DISAPPOINTMENT 6-18-2018 We were seated in the Garden Room early, @ about 4:30PM. The dinner crowd had not arrived. It is not the 1st time we dined here, the previous experiences were not stellar but pleasant, we arrived with reasonably tempered expectations. A waiter took the orders for our party of 5, things appeared to be off to an enjoyable evening. The fried calamari appetizer was overcooked, on the chewy side & the breading was bland, the stuffed artichoke was too lemony. The sausage bread and bruschetta were OK. The Creme Brulee was runny/under-cooked & the Italian Cheesecake had an off flavor (our cousin Domenic, is a baker from Messina, Sicily, we tasted the best). The waiter that took our order was abruptly replaced by one named ALEX. Some behind the scenes shuffle resulted in this disrespectful unhappy petulant person as our waiter. He did zero for us, showed neither interest nor concern as he walked by. His only interaction was to bring the bill at our request. The bus and server staff did all the serving and attended to our dining needs. The food was OK, perhaps overrated, could get the same at some neighborhood red sauce pizzeria-restaurants. The decor is better with artificial lighting after dark, the blemishes & imperfections of the aged Garden Room disappear. $245.65 bill. The mediocre food compounded with lousy waiter service destroyed what was supposed to be a festive belated Father's Day celebration. 18% tip was for the bus and server staff, all of whom performed flawlessly / 0 % for ALEX. The many good things were overshadowed by the one bad thing. TAKE NOTE ! Supervisory staff & management: "The fish stinks at the head". This waiter's attitude stunk like the restaurant garbage festering in the 90+ degree heat outside. Racial profiling ? Institutionalized racism ? Major let down after traveling from out of state; left with unmet expectations; not in a rush to return; you can get McDonald's type service anywhere. read more

I thought I'd check out this place for my anniversary. A special meal that I was prepared to enjoy with my bride of 27 years. (I'm no spring chicken and I've eaten in some of the most expensive and fanciest restaurants in this city). When I walked in the hostess was pretty rude. She's quite a bit older than me, and I'm surprised she's still walking she's so old, but she shouldn't be greeting people at the door. No rapport skills at all, unless you're a regular. So that means she's catering to her septuagenarian age group. I was ready to spend $500 for our meal with a great bottle of wine and all the trimmings, but I don't go for any rudeness on the part of staff or owners! This is a guest services business. There was a time in the city when the French restaurants used to abuse their customers, kind of like the soup nazi on Seinfeld's show. I never allowed that to happen to me and I'm not intending to start now that I'm into my 6th decade of life. So my bride and I found a wonderful little restaurant in Flushing where the staff was attentive and pleasant. And while we had to wait a bit to get a seat, they acknowledged us there and made sure to update us to let us know they wanted us there. What a difference an attitude can make. It's just unfortunate when a restaurant with an earned reputation starts to think they can rest on their laurels and be happy to rely on their old and dying crowd. Just as well! How hard is it to cook tomato sauce anyway? In a city teeming with great pizzerias, a good Italian restaurant isn't so special anyway! read more

My family and I went to Parkside last night. We were a party of 5 they seated us on the second floor. It was empty. The waiter came over. He seems very nice Drinks came quickly and then about 25 minutes past without anybody coming to us to place an order when we finally got the waiters attention we put our appetizers in as well as our entrées since the service was moving so slow. We waited About 45 minutes for the appetizers to come only 2 came then 10 min later the others came which were ice cold We proceeded to wait an entire hour with no sign of our entrées or anyone checking in with us it's now filling up, and people are receiving their entrées before we received ours We spoke to the waiter after having to locate him and the manager came over and said things were running slow. We were sitting there for two hours. When was he planning on saying something to us or even apologize and offer a resolution or gratitude for our patience instead he seemed annoyed At this point, we asked to take our entrées home. We weren't even hungry anymore we were aggravated The worst part is that when we went home my father had ordered the veal franchese with pasta. I attached a picture of what he got. I know this place since I'm a Chef and I've been in the field for 20 years Used to be better is now going down We had a reservation for last night Upon arrival the old lady acting as a mediocre hostess told us that it was too early for our reservation. (we arrived 5 minutes early only) The fat man that acts as a manager did not even welcome us The waiting area was packed and made the place feel like a gym We noticed that they were not following nor having any honor to their reservations They were assigning tables to either large parties or friends of the house This type of routine is the one that kills any business reputation in hospitality. We inquired about our reservation and in a rude way we were told, "you have to wait". The owner was there and supported this nasty protocol. Besides of this bad experience. (not new to me with Park Side) The food is not the best Italian food that I ever tried. It goes more into a neighborhood place with limited quality. The service does not exist. Your waiter will not pay any attention to you. Brief. I will not recommend this place. Hope that the restaurant will not block my feedback ,since this is what they usually do. read more

Parkside never disappoints. The food is delicious and the portions are large enough to have some for lunch the next day. Especially since your meal always starts with an amazing complimentary bread basket, bruschetta, parmigian cheese and salami! The bread basket is not your ordinary bread basket it has sesame breadsticks, bread with little pieces of ham and meat, these wonderful Raisin rolls and homemade breadsticks made from Italian bread. Try not to fill up on that. You also have to get a bottle of the house wine! I have been to parkside multiple times and never left with a complaint. In fact quite the opposite. Also leave room for desert because they also give you some complimentary biscotti. On Fridays they have a linguini with lobster special that I definitely recommend. My dad's favorite is the shrimp parmigiana and no one does that better than Parkside! If you are looking for a real old school Italian meal Parkside is the place to go! read more

Park Side is a classic Italian-American restaurant in Corona with a warm, old-school atmosphere that's great for family dinners and celebrations. The space feels lively and traditional, exactly what you expect from a long-standing neighborhood spot. The food was solid and comforting, with generous portions and familiar Italian flavors. Appetizers and pasta dishes were satisfying, and everything came out fresh and well prepared. That said, the service could use improvement. Our server wasn't very attentive, we had to flag them down multiple times just to order drinks, and check-ins throughout the meal were limited. While the staff was polite, the lack of attentiveness took away a bit from the overall experience. Overall, Park Side is still a reliable choice for classic Italian food, but better service would definitely elevate the dining experience. It seems like this place is living off its hype a bit. I was shocked to hear that they don't have any homemade pasta. The bread is also not homemade and they don't have the filled bread that people rave about anymore. When I ordered my penne a la vodka, it wasn't even as good as a seamless fast food penne a la vodka. It was probably the one I liked least out of all the places I've been to. My friend ordered fish, and it was much better than my dish. I still give this place three stars because there were some positives. They did have homemade wine, which was tasty, the atmosphere and the service were good, and we got a nice small appetizer on the house. The cocktails were also made very well. Overall, if you have a taste for Italian food and want to go somewhere in Queens, I recommend Il Triangolo, which is also in Corona. read more

Let;'s see where should I start Went to this old fashion american-italian restaurant place and my findings are 1. Food is average 2. Service does not exist, your waiter will take your order and do not expect to see him anymore 3. The owner is always around but do not seem to care about management or quality of service 4. FOH Alfredo the manager and Mona the hostess (outdated staff for this time) Both completely incompetents. Do not expect to have your table ready if you have made a reservation Do not trust in their reservations since they will give priority to large parties with no reservation The best part here are cocktails and the food runners and bus boys This place hits large party tables. I come here often. Just a few days ago me and my boyfriend had dinner since we live a few blocks away. we had Colossal Crab Meat Cocktail and the stuffed mushrooms for appetizers. John chose the Park Side Aged Prime T-Bone steak and I had the Filetto di Pomodoro. Everything was amazing! we chose a barbera to pair the two dinners because it is versatile in pairing both pasta with tomato sauce as well as the T-bone They had a decent wine list, but the sommelier in me would just suggest not to be so typical in the selection. I chose the BRICCO DEI GUAZZI Barbera D'Asti -- very enjoyable dinner. Staff was exquisitely professional and pleasant, Maître De was great! read more

This restaurant is blocking all it's bad reviews, it is hard to trust them at all. Mine was blocked and most of my friend's posts were also blocked since they were not good. My experience with the restaurant is as follows Did no honor any of my reservations. They always prioritize large parties or friends Food is average to mediocre The place is loud up to the level that you can not have a decent conversation The old lady and short fat guy at the entrance will not make you feel welcome at all It is a fact, between my experience at the place and the fact that they block your review when is bad, I'm unable to give more than 1 star. read more

09/30 After an awful first time experience we decided to give this place another shot. We had a veal parm and penne vodka. Food was good. The problem with this restaurant is the front of the house. It's poorly run and operated. The staff members act as if they dont care, there's no interaction, no service, it's just down right awful. We were seated in the garden area. Promptness of food arrival was ok. We asked for the two young men who in our previous visit assisted us, and were told they no longer work there. What a shame. I loved the food, but have other issues with the place. We had a 7 pm reservation. While we got there after 6, we did not expect to be seated early as they were crowded. We were not seated until 7:50. The older woman at the desk was extremely rude. While waiting (@ 7:45, I saw people w/o reservations being seated. The woman said "for you we have a table" to others as they arrived. I traveled from Manhattan, so I decided to wait even though my mind wanted to walk out. The food is why you come. Huge portions. Good prices. Excellent taste. I don't know of any other restaurant that caters to their guests as Tony does. The appetizers, (fresh meats, bruchetta and fresh imported Reggiano), great bread assortment and biscotti are included with the meal, Sambuca is included with the espresso!...the quality and quantity of the meals you get here is unmatched to anywhere else. When we were seated we received the famous bread basket which we landed up ordering another one of. You also get a bruschetta platter which was so good. For appetizers we ordered baked clams, fried calamari and mussels. Delicious !! It took a while for our main courses to come out but we did request a little bit of a break. One of the best Italian food I've tried! The Wild Mushroom Ravioli was absolutely delicious, other dishes we tried were marvelous too! Amazing! Last Sunday my partner and I decided to try out something new so that brought us to Park Side. From the appetizers to the dessert we were really impressed with everything being served. Our waiter Jose and food runner Olivio were very helpful in guiding two newcomer. We have lived in the neighborhood for 8 years and never knew what we were missing out on. Delicious Italian food and free valet parking makes this a great choice for lunch of dinner in Queens. This is a regular stop for me since I work in a nearby neighborhood.
