After more than 25 years of being customers and spending hundreds of dollars per visit, we were essentially told we had stayed too long after finishing our meal. That was enough for us to decide we will not be returning. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 25 years. The food has generally been good, which is why my family continued returning and recommending it to others. Our history with the restaurant has not been without issues. Years ago, we stopped coming after a Mother's Day incident involving my grandmother. We had been seated in the upstairs dining room (when it was still open), only to later be told by the owner that we did not have a reservation and that we had to leave. After several years, we decided to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and eventually started coming back again. Unfortunately, today confirmed that the earlier incident was not simply bad luck. I was dining with my parents. We ordered two steaks, two appetizers, three sides, a bottle of wine and later a second bottle (of which we only drank half), along with four after-dinner drinks, cappuccino, and dessert. It was clearly a very busy day, and service was slower than usual. Because of the restaurant's pace, our meal ended up lasting a little over three hours. We were patient the entire time and never complained. After we finished eating and were simply finishing our drinks, the owner, Marcelo, approached our table and remarked that we had been there for three hours and were now only drinking alcohol, indirectly suggesting that his establishment was not a bar but a place for dining. Considering that we had just spent several hundred dollars and have been customers for decades, the comment was unnecessary and unprofessional. We immediately asked for the check and left. For context, I am a physician and understand the pressures of demanding work environments. However, professionalism and respect toward customers should always come first. Over the years, my family has typically spent between $300 and $500 per visit here. Unfortunately, after this experience, this will be the last time we come. There are many excellent Argentinian and Uruguayan steakhouses where customers are treated with appreciation and respect, and that is where we will be going moving forward. I rarely leave negative reviews, but the way we were treated by the owner was disappointing. Throughout our visit, he came across as unfriendly and impatient rather than welcoming. What really stood out happened near the end of our meal. The owner approached our table and told us we needed to pay because he needed the table. We explained that we had already paid and were simply finishing up before leaving. His response was, "Oh yeah, even better," which came across as sarcastic and rude. No customer should feel rushed out or made to feel like they're a burden. The food was average at best, but it was the owner's attitude and lack of hospitality that left the worst impression. I booked a large table the Tuesday after the World Cup, thought it would be a proper visit since Argentina ended up winning the World Cup so this was my homage to Argentina. I've been on a search for a really good skirt steak ever since our favorite steakhouse closed down. Found this place online via reviews and decided to give them a try. I didn't actually visit the restaurant so this review is really only for the food. Ordered from there twice so far via Door Dash and both times everything was good. Food was packaged nicely so no spills and the delivery was quick so food was still hot which of course is great. The food was delicious. So far tried the pork chops, skirt steak, and the shrimp and rice. Everything was cooked perfect and tasted great. Also tried the fried provolone from the apps and that was really good as well. After driving pass El Gauchito numerous times, we finally decided to give it a try as it appeared ideal to satisfy our steak craving. As an Argentine myself, meat is one of our main connection to our roots. I think that I've been here at least 3 times each year since 2018. There are times you come in and there is a long line that moves rather fast, and there's times where it's a full house yet, no line. A little downside is their bathroom, is quite small, there is room for improvement in this area definitely.
