Great spot close to home for me. I have only had breakfast here, but breakfast alone is worth any distance to drive to eat here! If you're feeling the sweet tooth, highly recommend the extensive pancake selection! My favorite - the cannoli pancakes! Just a warning - they are huge, stuffed with cannoli filling, and you likely will need to take a portion home with you! Besides the delicious pancakes, today I had a western omelette (ham, onions, peppers) and it was also delightfully delicious. Served with home fries (or hash browns if you'd like) and toast for a very decent price! This place does get super crowded but the wait is never too long! We've been coming to this dinner for a couple years now. Foods still delicious but the service has gone done- but there staffs stayed the same. This last time we were in, our food was made wrong (before it was brought to our table) but it took our waitress a decent amount of time to tell us. The staff were slamming dirty dishes into the tubs and whipping chairs around. It almost seemed like everyone was in a mood. Love the eggs benny here. Flavorful and always hot- my girlfriends meal was made wrong and the waitress came out to let us know. When our meals came out they were both steaming, so it was nice they mine wasn't sitting and waiting. Service was a little aggressive and loud this time. If you want a typical diner experience - look no further. Parkside Diner doesn't have an identity crisis - it knows what it means to be a diner and delivers on it's part. So what does it mean to be a diner? I think of a menu full of breakfast staples like pancakes and eggs, a smattering of burgers and hot sandwiches, a few entrees and dinner specials, and a rotating carousel of desserts spinning off the the side. Check, check and check (minus the dessert carousel. It was out of order at the time). My dinner companion and I got sandwiches - a French Dip and Reuben. Have I had better? You betcha! Have I had worse? I'm sure of it. The french dip was decent - the meat could have been more tender and the au jus could have been tastier and less salty. But, it was fine enough. The reuben had thick cuts of corned beef between two slices of rye bread. It was the better sandwich of the two, but wasn't mind-blowing. As far a diners go, this in my opinion is the best one in Irondequoit. They are always packed and yet there is always an open seat. The food is what you're would hope and expect from a diner. It's got amazing breakfasts and some solid lunches. Last time I was in I got a Artichoke and Sausage omelet, it also had goat cheese if I wasn't mistaken. Ate at this restaurant awhile ago and had no complaints. My sister and I had breakfast there a few weeks ago and noticed the window sills and blinds were not clean. Been going for years. A must every time I return home. Great breakfast. I always get the croissant sandwich breakfast special with egg cheese and sausage---real sausage pattie! Homefries. They have red hot and not tobasco but I enjoy asking for Tabasco so I can hear the waitress say, "we have red hot!". Went there today with my Wife on her birthday, and one of our Daughters. Food was very good, cane out fast, and piping hot. The poor waitresses were struggling a bit with the hot plates coming out of the kitchen. I got a Bacon, Mushroom, Cheddar omelette with home fries and rye toast. Portion was huge, home fries were crispy, toast was, well toast. My wife got a big as your head short stack of strawberry pancakes and finished about half, with help. My food was cold and disgusting I couldn't eat it. I got eggs and hash browns. I took a bite and it was soggy nasty and it was cold. My eggs were also cold. The bacon was greasy and my toast was soggy. This place is terrible. read more

This place has excellent food! I ordered the fish sandwich. I had it beer-battered. It came with french fries and coleslaw. The cole slaw was the best I've had in a very very long time. This is a typical American style diner. They have all your standard diner fare (burgers, fish fry, etc.) as well as breakfast all day. This diner is fairly busy most of the time. Sunday brunch is probably the busiest time of the week. Portions are large. Their biscuits and gravy is pretty good. They use more of an Italian sausage which gives it a good kick. I personally order the sausage gravy on the side with pretty much everything and then slather it on. I love that you can get mimosas here. That being a little hole in the wall joint I can go, get a decent breakfast and a mimosa. They are on the smaller side (and by on the smaller side they're probably pretty standard- 3/4 full in a champagne flute for $5 I believe) but in comparison to Jines large wineglass of a mimosa I'm going with on the smaller side. A quaint little diner that would have been almost too stereotypical if it had a homemade pie on the counter and had the look of an old airstream.The servers were friendly and attentive, and the "warm Roast Beef" (aka, French Dip), was pretty tasty. The au jus wasn't mind-blowing but it worked. My girlfriend went with the reuben and, although it says it's a #1 seller (and our server told us it was her favorite dish on the menu), I wasn't a fan. We have been there a few times for breakfast before we go to Seabreeze or mini golf next door. My kids love the candy pancakes; they have M&M, Oreo, peanut butter cup and heath. I always order the potato pancakes. The food is always good but I gave it three stars because the service is so slow. We sat for 10 minutes before anyone offered us drinks and then they took a long time to deliver them. The food took over 30 minutes and with hungry kids it felt like even longer. After our food was dropped off we never saw our server again. We waited another 15 min after we were done eating for our check! All total we were there over 1 1/2 hours for pancakes! The food there was delicious, I myself was on a mission to try every kind of pancake on the menu and by far my two favorites were the cheesecake pancakes and the cannoli pancakes. So the menu here was what you'd expect from a diner, lots of open face sandwiches, a couple greek dishes, burgers, etc. I'd give the food 3 stars- it was about what you'd expect from a diner- I got a ruben that was decent - a little heavy on the saurkraut and a little light on the corned beef- but tasty. My wife got a burger that was cooked well- she asked for medium rare and that's what she got- which is nice for a change - but it was way under seasoned. The kids fried chicken definetly came frozen from a box. My main beef though was that, in a relatively empty restaurant, they sat us in a booth where the forced air heat was blowing directly up underneath our table. It was on the whole time we sat there which created a micro-climate that felt like Southeast Asia. I kept thinking that at some point the heat would shut off as it was sweltering in this little place, and moving to a new table after settling in with 2 kids isn't as easy as it sounds- so we kept thinking we'd tough it out. Not a good choice as this made for a very uncomfortable meal. Overall, the food wasn't bad, but next time we're in the area we'll try to find someplace we like better rather than return. read more

If you're looking for a casual diner with great food, I highly recommend Parkside. For the past three years, I have been here for dinner on Valentine's Day, and this year was no different. On V-Day, they have a list of specials featuring ribs, turkey, and several other selections. The dinner includes soup, a vegetable, a potato, beverage, and dessert. I got the turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, chicken soup, and steamed vegetables. It was great and plentiful, just as it has been each year. The turkey was cooked to perfection, and I had to take some home in a doggie bag. If that wasnt enough, I ordered rice pudding for dessert. It was heavenly. All in all, I recommend coming here for a casual dinner outing. They also have great specials on Friday night, and you will leave satisfied and without an empty wallet. read more

When me and my friends arrived we were immediately seated which was good. All 8 of us ordered our drinks then food. When we received our drinks we didn't get any straws so we waited for our waitress to come back but buy the time she came back (15 mins later) one of us had already gotten up and got the straws ourselves. We then ordered our food and other large tables who had arrived after we ordered had received their food in no time. We ended up waiting 45 minutes for our food and when it came out waitress had forgotten to bring our half of the order and my friends pancakes went to a different table. No getting what you payed for. I was disappointed and not surprised. From the moment I walked in I felt as if the staff was doing me a huge favor. And they made it clear. Granted I half expect staff at dinners to be a little ruff around the edges but the entire experiences lacked any kind of friendless or joy. I ordered a straight forward dish omelet with hash browns and white toast. Though the omelet looked scary as it came out gray. The amount of salt added from the interior ingredients made it edible, with an assist from Frank and his classic sauce. The hash browns on the other hand were not. Those were barely warm and it was clear they spent very little time ever in contact with the heat from the flat top as they were more mush than crisp. Almost like they had been thawing out on the counter for a little too long. These clearly coming out of a bag with its orange glow I was tempted after having a taste of the hash browns to send it all back. I was however starving so I press on. After taking another poke at the hash to see if I could find a redeeming bite with no success I made my way to the cash registrar. I was get by a sign on the side of the register reading. " all none cash transactions will be adjusted by 3.6 percent". I am so thankful I was finally able to understand why everyone was treating me as if they were doing me some huge favor. One lives for moments of clarity like this. I of course inquired if there was an ATM near by, the response was no. So if you have to eat or you will parish have at it, AND BRING CASH. And our OUT of town family make sure at some point during their visit, at least once we will stop for a family gathering here.The menu from amazing breakfast entrees to the must have Friday Fish Fry: are all served piping hot,delicious,and with AWESOME staff.Our cups are kept full,our waitress on top of our needs,and the cook is also always one of the owners.Always given a portion large enough to share,or take some home.If you decided on a dessert that left you feeling guilty,then a round of miniature golf (literally across the parking lot) or a walk at the near by parks(with shoreline views of Lake Ontario) are definite and reasonable solutions. And if by chance you either can't or don't feel like dining in (CANT imagine), then a call in order for pick up is always an option with the food always just as great.This is hands down our family fav!! read more

Great neighborhood diner, with excellent breakfast meals including omelettes and waffles, as well as very good lunch fare. The Rueben sandwich is a standout, made with delicious corned beef that does not have excessive amounts of salt in it. Very friendly and helpful staff and casual surroundings make for a great place to have a delicious breakfast or lunch. I've been to parkside a couple times, and while the food is fine, unless you know someone that works there, don't expect to be treated well by the staff. They were very short with me and my family. The place had hardly anyone in there, yet it took her forever to even ask if we wanted anything to drink. 10 minutes later, we get our drinks and she walks away without taking our order. five minutes later walks back and takes our order, twenty minutes later we get the food. I repeatedly asked passing waitresses for refill on my coffee, but never got one either of the times we were there. That is something that seems to make it or break it at diners. They should always keep the coffee cups filled. Probably not going to return. We would rather go to the place down the road or go into rochester for breakfast. read more

We are a local family-- two out of three times had poor outcomes with this restaurant. We have collectively decided not to frequent this restaurant any longer. During one visit my daughter's pancakes were partially raw. When we said something to the waitress it was corrected but not until my daughter was almost done with the rest of her meal. The second time we had very rarely done poached eggs. This was something that could've easily been corrected, however the waitress never came back to check on our table until she brought over the check. The times we visited it had not been overly busy. Have went there twice now and both times were not great. First time the food was mediocre, I asked for a refill and when my drink got back to me my cup had lipstick on it. Problem with that is I was not wearing lipstick and I am not a female... Second visit I ordered breakfast and the pancakes were gritty and greasy tasting. All your standard diner foods and breakfast served all day. I braved the steak and eggs on my first visit. The steak was pretty bad but I didn't go into it with high expectations so it wasn't completely unexpected. I've been back several times since and have stuck to sandwiches and burgers which have all been pretty good. Was hoping to go here more often but they recently changed their hours and are only open for dinner one night a week (Friday).
