I must say, I was very impressed with response times and professionalism! I inquired on a Saturday and that Monday someone came out for estimate. Received estimate next day, which was in line with our original selection. As it would happen, our selection called that same Monday stating they had received our permit and was ready to schedule job. So because I was so ready to get this over with, we continued with originally company. If we had to do it all over again, we would have chosen Parkside. We got six bids to replace our roof, which was a messy job with old old wood shingle under the composition shingle, dating from before we bought the house 30+ years ago. Parkside was the least expensive except for the guy who tried to tell me I didn't actually need city permits and I liked them the best as well. They didn't try to upsell us; I felt like I was talking to roofers, not salespeople. I was confident in them, especially after friends had highly recommended them. The demolition crew cleaned up so beautifully, you couldn't find a splinter of wood outside the house afterward. The crews were great guys who did right by that roof, including adding mesh to the vents to prevent sparks from wildfires from getting into the attic space. Folks, this costs almost nothing and is a major step to help protect your house; most house fires caused by wildfires are caused by the vents sucking burning embers into that space, where they smolder and then burn the house. My neighbors have been deeply admiring of what a great job the roofers did and how terrific the roof looks. So I'll be the friend to you who highly recommends them. read more

I had two outdoor eave/roof leaks that had been problems for many years. The owner Dave responded right away to my Yelp request, and we set up a good time for an inspection/quote within a couple of days. It has been a little less than a year since I got my roof done by these guys. I had inherited a multi layered roof that was causing leaks in many different areas when it rained. Little did I know, I had termite damage, and other issues on the roof. I have thin cathedral ceiling and part of the project was to install thermal sheathing across the entire roof. Though it increased the cost of the project, I can definitely say that it has been worth it. The winter months were not as cold in the house and these past few days the house has stayed relatively cool inside compared to the out side. Also, through all of the rain, i can say I have peace of mind now from the leaks. After the roof was installed, they had to come back out because of the unique way the roof meets the extension of the house. There were one leak which they took care of promptly. But haven't had any leaks since then. The only thing I could have asked for was a bit more communication but that could just be me. Overall great experience with Parkside roofing, I would highly recommend them. In fact, i may have another project for them soon for the metal roof over the sun room. read more

I bought a fixer upper and had many contractors work on my home, but I've never had a contractor do a job this big and get it done so quickly, and well. Parkside Roofing only took two days to remove my old roof, and install the new one. Then, another day to address any issues I had, and meet with the permit inspector, since there was some miscommunication on my city's permit requirements. On the last day of the job, I was really ill, and Dave compassionately brought me gatorade, which I was so grateful for. Initially, I was going to go with another contractor that offered a lower price, however, Dave's genuine request for feedback on what he could do better made me reconsider (which was a big contrast to the other contractor's attitude). During my first meeting with Dave, he showed me pictures of my roof (after inspecting it) and gave me two options: to patch or to replace. He didn't pressure me one way or the other and offered his honest opinion, which is a rarity. He also answered my questions quickly, even on weekends and late at night (via text or e-mail, respectively). During the job, the Parkside Roofing crew took pictures of my roof after each phase: roof removal and strip down, wood replacement, roof installation and the finishing touches. I'm glad that they offered this service; since I couldn't stand on the roof and be there at every phase. After every day on the job, Dave checked up with me and asked if there was anything that needed to be addressed and listened to my questions, concerns, and issues. I've never had a contractor ask me this or address these things as Dave did. One of my old canopies got ripped during the job and Dave more than compensated for that damage, and his team fixed some scrapes on my driveway from the dumpster as well, even though it was not in their area. They also painted the wood that was replaced, and made sure all of my vents matched the roof. I had received 2 estimates prior to Parkside. I have a home that was built in 1957 and the 2nd owner had put a roof in over the wood shingles. The 2 other companies I called mentioned that during their inspection and included it in their estimate. I didn't walk the house when I had the estimate walk from Parkside so I didn't talk about the need for the 2 roofs to be removed and plywood. When I reviewed the Parkside estimate I didn't see that line item but noticed the estimate was $1k lower that the 2nd estimate. On the first day off work, within about 15 min, I was told they would need to add plywood about a $4500 add. I felt that was a miss on their part to not include it in the original estimate. I felt my ha da were tied since the demo had already began. The final work came in $6000 over the original estimate and $5000 more than the other co tractor that had included that line item in their estimate. I was happy with the work crew they worked hard and cleaned up the site. The team also missed the city inspector 2 times at the conclusion of the job. Overall the work was good, the business side of the work is less than desirable. read more

(Edit: Since the posting of this review, Dave has reached out to try and make things right. I declined his offer, but appreciate the gesture and wanted to pass it along.) We have been working on repairing and improving our garage, and in the process, it came to our attention that we needed to have some additional roofing work done. I found Parkside Roofing on this very website, and arranged to have an assessment and estimate done. After personally inspecting the part of our roof that needed the work, the estimator concluded that all that needed to be done was replacing two layers of "30 lb glass base sheet". As I understand it, that's just roofing-grade paper designed to seal the roof from leaks. A formal estimate was sent, and after about a week of independent research, we found the price point fair enough to move forward. A contract was drafted and signed, and we came to a tentative agreement to have the work begin on the following Monday or Tuesday, and they would reach out about precise scheduling before then. Estimate, contract, schedule. Very straightforward. So far, so good. Monday and Tuesday came and went with no response from Parkside's office, so I emailed them in the hope that I could get a date in place soon because a) we were waiting on this work to be done before engaging with other contractors for the job's completion, and b) we were trying to save ourselves a month's rent of the on-site storage unit that we had to lease to store the stuff that was formerly in our garage. In response to my admission via email that the job wasn't very large but still warranted attention, we were assured by the company that we were a "priority", and that work could begin the following morning between 8 and 9 am. The following morning came and went. 8 and 9 am came and went. And we were still waiting for our foreman to arrive. I checked in with the office about when we could expect to have the work started. He replied that our foreman "got caught up at another project and didn't realize what time it was". I don't know much about the roofing industry, but if it's 8 or 9 in the morning and our foreman is already putting me off for another job, I sure don't feel like much of a "priority". Anyway, we were told he would be there at 10. His helper arrived at 10:30. He arrived a little closer to 11. Our foreman took one look at the site that was ALREADY ASSESSED AND ESTIMATED, and proceeded to explain to me that additional work needed to be done on the roof before they felt safe enough to do the work they were contracted to do. And just like that, the scope of the work, as well as the initial estimate, had effectively been tripled. The foreman proceeded to contact the office about this new development, and by 12 noon, four hours after I was told to expect the work to begin, I was forced to have the work stopped, the roofing returned to its original condition (they had to lift a shingle for their own assessment of the roof), and the work put on hold until I could work this mess out with management. To his credit, John, Parkside's project manager, and the original estimator, took it upon himself at that point to return to our house and see what he could do to smooth everything over and get the project back down to a more manageable level. After speaking with the foreman, as well as the office, John let me know this was not possible, and we had reached an impasse. After offering to have some plastic put on the roof against the upcoming rain, which I declined, I requested to have our contract terminated because I found the new terms, scope, and price point unacceptable. We were not a "priority" to Parkside Roofing. And if we were, then they need to seriously reconsider their business model, because they somehow managed to let us down at every possible opportunity. The estimate was inaccurately performed, the scheduling was not properly honored, and the contract was altered to a degree that I found to be in bad faith and, quite frankly, opportunistic in nature. And now, we need to find a new contractor that will be a little more prompt and forthcoming with us, along with footing the bill for an additional month of on-site storage that we would not have needed if Parkside had come through for us. I am deeply disappointed by the service I received from this company, and I can't in good conscience recommend them to anyone. In fact, I would caution anyone interested in enlisting their services that they are doing so at their own risk, and to be absolutely certain that they are more concise, thorough, and transparent than they were with me. Naturally, we will not be contacting them for further business. read more

We would give more than a five star review if we could.... We received bids from several roofers whom left us concerned about other issues regarding our roof replacement. Dave, president of Parkside Roofing won us over by making us feel at ease. He spent the time to measure and explained everything about the job, including reviewing things the other roofers hadn't even discussed. He was able to turn around a GREAT quote the following day - others took 3-5 days just to get back to us. We requested to have the job started while my husband was on vacation and Dave made that happen. Prior to starting the roofing job, Dave had his crew come by the house to see my husband's "man cave" so they could be extra careful while removing the roof in that area. This was very professional of him to make those precautions, as my husband treasures his cave and this made him feel at ease. We had a 1 day delay due to rain, but the crew was at the house the next morning and ready to go. Throughout the project, Dave would come by and check in with his crew and with us. He would send us pictures, answer questions and explain the progress and next steps. He kept us well informed. For our project, we had work start on a Wednesday and continue through Friday, with the final city inspection on Monday. After the final inspection was done, Dave came by to verify the job was up to our satisfaction and to see if we had any other questions for him.
