My hubby and I celebrated Taco Tuesday with take-out from Pasion Tequila in downtown Bothell and I think it will become part of our quarantine routine. We've eaten in the restaurant a couple of times and have always enjoyed our experience. When things get back to 'normal', they have a great happy hour. This is the second time we've ordered take-out from here since the stay at home order and it's some of the best we've had. They package the food really well so it keeps its quality on the trip home. They have a great fajita platter for two that left us with leftovers for a couple of days after! The portions are generous and always leave us with leftovers! And, to go margaritas?? YES PLEASE. Food tastes good but is greasy so much so that I ended with a very bad case of heartburn and other consequences. Sadly, my digestive system can't take this kind of food anymore. :( I ordered a salad, but it came in a fried flour tortilla bowl. It tasted great but did not sit well with my stomach. A little north of "downtown" Bothell, a couple blocks past the old Anderson School heading up and out of town. There's a big strip mall with all different businesses, and then here these guys are in a free-standing building. They decorate the outside with lots of native Mexican art and names; they clearly embrace the traditional pre-colonial culture. Inside, the lights are dim, wood everywhere is dark, and they've added tons of interesting decor to give it an early-culture feel (as restaurants go). There's a bar to the right and a dining room to the left. The menu is huge with dozens of choices. There are lots of things that will be familiar to people who've eaten lots of Americanized Mexican food, and then there are quite a few dishes with some appeal for more adventurous tastes. We checked out the Levanta Muertos soup, an asada burrito, a tostada, and an enchilada between the three of us. Everything had tons of flavor and all the ingredients tasted fresh. We could have explored the menu a bit more, but for a friendly chat over a meal, this was perfect. One of us comes in all the time and vouches for practically the whole menu; this was the first time for me. This was an excellent place to stop in for a weekday lunch! Pricing and portion were extremely reasonable and service was superb. Chips and salsa were complimentary. I tried the lunch chimichanga with rice and beans on the side and my friend had the tacos suizas that he raved about. I will have to come back and try some other items next time! read more

My review has changed! In the past Passion Tequila was never a first choice but I am slowly coming around and recently have suggested meeting friends here for HH. There are still some food inconsistencies like when my husband ordered chicken fajitas the chicken was sparse and almost non-existent. When he asked about it they were gracious and brought out a new plate of chicken fajitas with tons and tons of chicken. The carne asada I've ordered has been consistent and downright delicious. Big portion of chips and salsa (one tomato-based and one cabbage-based). I ordered the seafood enchilada without avocado. Guess what, they still put the avocado on there. The rice was kind of sticky and tasted very dry. The beans were decent. I was neglected and never received an offer for a refill on my horchata. The seafood enchilada was neither delightful nor delicious. This is my first and last time dining at this establishment. For the price, one would think that the service would be better. read more

The food was OK. It wasn't to die for. It was delicious. It was just ok. I got the Levanta Muertos soup that said it was lemony flavor. It wasn't. It was all spices. Added chicken, barely two pieces of shredded chicken. My partner got the cheese enchiladas. He wasn't sure if there was any tortillas so I'm going to assume that's a good thing. The service wasn't the greatest. We could barely hear the waiter. She was basically whispering. Never checked on us. Excellent service and food! I went in today for lunch with my mom, and she ended up not enjoying what she ordered. Once the server was aware of this, he got a pork dish prepared for her to take home which was not an additional charge. The pork dish was fabulous per my mom! We made our way to Pasion Tequila on Saturday afternoon after an important event. We were starving for Mexican food and this place looked great. We ordered the three enchilada combo (two ground beef and one cheese) and the super burrito. The enchiladas were great (the rice was especially good) and the burrito was also good (it came with rice and beans inside which my wife really likes). The food was all you would expect. The service, though, was pretty darn atrocious. We weren't checked on. Ever. We had to actually flag down our server for a to-go box and our check. There were like four tables with people. Total. And it still took a ridiculous amount of time and pleading to get service. Based on this alone, we won't be racing back here unfortunately. read more

This is my go to Mexican spot! I came here with some friends last week on a Friday night to get margaritas and some snacks and it was fantastic. We came in and it was AC and packed with folks, which is how you know the place is good. The waiter seated us in the booths and they had digital menu barcodes you could scan. This place was covid friendly with the waiters wearing masks and I felt like the place was sanitary. Beware of getting WiFi here, for some reason I couldn't get any and my cellular data didn't work. Feel free to ask for a physical menu too since this WiFi connection can make it hard to access their digital menu. They pour their margaritas HEAVY here so I would recommend coming in during their Happy Hour to take advantage of their $2 off margs. We all got appetizers and they were giant, I got the half plate nachos and I took half home to eat later that night. The waiter was so kind and friendly. Come visit this place! read more

This place is very fun and lively inside. Margarita was good. The food we had was just average. We got combos, so I can't comment of the higher end, pricier dishes. But the tacos were just OK, the tamales were dense and hard, and the rice was undercooked (hard and slightly crunchy pieces). The salsa was good, but extremely watery. They don't have an option for fried jalapeños on the side, only the much hotter seranos. First Mexican restaurant I've been to that didn't have jalapeños. I wanted one of the taco plates, but I just can't bring myself to spend 20+ dollars for 2 tacos. Again, the taco trucks would easily win out on taste, authenticity, and value. read more

Had to give this place a two star because of the smell and the nasty guacamole. The place looked clean, but there was a really strange smell in the air. Almost like cleaned up vomit. We went at lunch and the place was empty. Maybe they had a party the night before that got out of hand. This place DOES have Tequila in the name after all. Other then the smell, the place is pretty decent. They have an extensive menu and the atmosphere is decently nice. Definitely more of a sit down place then a taqueria. Good fish and veggie options on the menu, although the veggie options weren't super inspired (ie no tofu or sweet potato tacos or anything like that). Service was good too. I ordered the veggie plate and my husband ordered veggie fajitas. The veggie plate is composed of stir fried or roasted veggies (not sure which) that come with your choice of sauce (verde, rojo, chipotle, mole, etc) served on top of rice. I went with the chipotle sauce. The plate was served with guacamole, lettuce and tortillas. The reason why the guacamole was nasty was that it looked like it was two days old and it was brown. Otherwise, both the veggie plate and veggie fajitas were tasty. However, they were also really rich, which probably explained why they tasted so good. I couldn't eat too much of it. Was running errands on a weekday and wanted comfort food. Read Yelp reviews on Pasion Tequila and said "that's where I'm going" and I'm glad I did. Food was excellent, and having leftovers for breakfast was even better! The salsa is so delicious I could have eaten the entire basket of chips but put it on the rice and beans instead. We have been enjoying the speedy, quality meals at Passion Tequila for many years. This last year, it has become our most frequented restaurant. Their service and food is very consistantly excellent. Their prices are a bargain compared to the other restaurants in our area. Today, for the first time, we ordered our personal favorites as a take out dinner, Prawn Enchilada Dinner and Polo Chipotle. Our dinners each came in a large rectangle aluminum tray with a cover. Our dinners looked as nicely displayed as we get when we dine in. They also had a bag of fresh, warm tortilla chips and salsa. Best take out presentation, meal quality we have ever had and a fraction of the price we pay at other non-Mexican restaurants! The bar and drinks are great also. read more

The staff and kitchen have pivoted really well to take out during our current times. Previously the dine in option had been wonderful with prompt and attentive service and excellent food. Takeout has been great too. On a busy Friday an order for four was ready in 25 minutes. Pickup and payment is at the front door to keep thing's socially distanced. I wish they had online order and payment but as they are a single family owned restaurant that might be challenging to implement without cutting too much into their business margins. They moved to aluminum trays/containers which keeps the food at the right temperature. And these clean up and are easily recycled. For food - The seafood enchilada has loaded with crab, shrimp, baby scallops with a delicious creamy sauce. The avocado slices on top were fresh and bright green The veggie fajitas plate was loaded. Enough for dinner and the next day. The same for the enchiladas combo offerings. Highly recommend. read more

Stopped in to try and get beer in the bar. The bar was a mess from the last customers dirty glasses, plates and gross napkins and stayed that way for while. Then the bar service guy finally showed up and insulted me. Really uncalled for and no reason to be rude to a customer who is ready to spend money. If you're looking for good, authentic Mexican food, THIS ISNT IT!!!! We had high hopes for Passion Tequila, but alas, we were sorely disappointed!!! The salsa wasn't bad tasting at all but it was too much on the spicey side that we couldn't enjoy much of it. I ordered the Azada Burrito and have had incredible Azada Burrito's at other restaurants, and this by far was the ABSOLUTE WORST Azada Burrito I have even had!!!! Normally the meat in the azada burrito is grilled skirt steak and it is extremely flavorful, but the meat in this burrito was absolutely terrible to the point that I couldn't even tell what it was!!! The mystery meat had virtually no flavor whatsoever to the point that it tasted boiled!!! There we no grill marks and no char flavor that normally accompany properly grilled skirt steak. The burrito was watery from the salsa they put inside (which should be on the outside and added AFTER the burrito is cooked) and I had a hard time finding any guacamole anywhere in the burrito at all. (Guac should also be added AFTER the burrito is cooked and served on top or on the side.) Overall this was an extremely disappointing dining experience!!! If you want good, authentic Mexican food and a really good Azada burrito, I suggest trying La Palmera in Mill Creek (although their salsa is now so spicy you wont be able to eat very much of it!!) Or better yet, try Las Espuelas in Mt. Lake Terrace which has amazing salsa and amazing Mexican food as well. PS, My wife did say her shredded beef taco was really good but the sauce on her enchiladas tasted like it came out of a can. I tasted her enchiladas and I agree; the sauce definitely tasted like it was sauce from a can!!! read more

Expensive Mexican food that is not worth the price. I got the ribeye with beans and rice. The beans literally looked and tasted like they were 3 days old/leftover from someone else's plate. The rice was stale. The meat was burned and so were the mushrooms and onions. The description said it comes with guacamole which it did but it was about 2 teaspoons worth. I also got chicken nachos, the cheese was not even melted and still in shredded chunks. Don't waste your time or money here. This is not Mexican food. read more

This is the first of a two part review - sadly YELP is not letting me do them separately which I wish I could do. My experience at Pasion was so difficult, that the only way I know how to handle properly is to do a two part review. I am very supportive of small, local businesses - I know they work hard - at the same time I want an honest appraisal of my consumer experience. This is the first of the food which I rate FOUR (4) Stars re Food The food is pretty decent, tasted reasonable, seems clean, well presented, pretty standard Mexican - nothing exceptional - but I don't normally find next level Mexican. Decent price and quantity. I suffered no ill effects. I would return on that basis. The second is the lounge which I rate ONE (star) re Lounge This is the 2nd part of a two part review - the disturbing part. re Lounge and Tequila I interacted with the bartender - young man - regular - and asked to look at their tequilas to find something that was high quality that I was unfamiliar with. We had a bit of a tough time because I either own or have had many. He even mentioned that he had a couple that I KNEW were high quality but which he poo-poohed... which sort of disturbed me. However, I had those at home and did not need more. Finally he recommended "Maestra Dobles" (sp?). A pour of blanco was $11... so not cheap - the notion was that this was good tequila. The reality is that it was very modest - not pleasant - and I was unable to finish - and did not get beyond about 50% when finally I came to grips that I did not need any more of this swill. I contacted a tequila afficiando and informed him about the bartender's recommendation - his respond "WTF??? This stuff is crap!!" When I addressed with the bartender, he looked at me sort of apologetically but stated that he really did not drink tequila because it was hard on his stomach... Well, fair enough, spirits are not always kind - HOWEVER, HE NEEDED TO HAVE BEEN HONEST WITH ME FROM THE BEGINNING INSTEAD OF PAWNING SWILL OFF ON ME AS DECENT TEQUILA..... And I still had to pay for $11 for pour of blanco.... No - not happy about the lounge experience As a result, despite the food being decent, etc., I will be exploring Mexican restaurants where the bartender is at least honest about not knowing WTF they are talking about. I've has a number of bad meals lately which might get me the reputation as a complainer but then, I do need to find something worthwhile of an excellent review. However, I'm not a fan of Mexican food in the PNW which is unlike what I've had in the real Mexico so what do I know? The worst excuse for "food" i've had in a while. Ordered Taco Al Carbon. Two soft tacos corn or flour. Never asked for my choice. Got four corn, OK but the scatter of burned small pieces of indistinguishable meat could have been anything and the salsa was missing. Not sure what cotija cheese is but there was a little something sprinkled on top which was minimal and resembling tine grain of sand. Next time some wants to take me out for Mexican, I'll try the new spot in Bothell Poquitos. read more

This restaurant is Remarkable! My wife and I stumbled across it from a Siri suggestion. Enter the parking lot and saw the place was packed. However we were seated immediately and drinks showed up nearly as quick. Currently understaffed so food took a while to receive it was something to brag about, I did when I got to work. Come to find out my coworkers already know about this place as well. A truly authentic Mexican restaurant with good prices and fabulous drinks and food. The building looks rough and we questioned whether we should look for another place to eat, but we're SO glad we didn't. The customer service was hospitable and kind. A friend and I stopped for dinner at Pasion Tequila. Absolutely the worst Mexican food anywhere!! Friend's margarita tasted medicinal, mine had no pineapple flavor. She had spinach quesadillas with one leaf of spinach in each one. I had chiles rellenos filled with MEAT!! The enchilada had same meat, unchewable!! Refried beans and rice were okay, can't do much to them to hurt them. Very disappointed, left practically everything, just had to get out of there. No doggie bags for us!! read more
