This is an okay restaurant and a nice choice for when you are too lazy to leave the neighborhood to go out to eat. I have probably eaten here 20-30 times with my family. The sushi is pretty good and so are the other entree options. My favorites are the drunken noodles and the green curry. My biggest qualm about this restaurant is the service. Usually the hosts/hostesses are very rude so that often puts a damper on the evening. The waiters and waitresses are also TERRIBLE but in a clueless way. It's like the servers have never been to a good restaurant so they have no idea how to do it correctly. They slosh things on the table, bump your chair, never fill your water... that sort of thing but they don't apologize for it or even notice. One time, I asked the waitress for a couple things and while still talking she just turned away and left for another table!! Seriously weird. While the decor is modern and pleasant, the food leaves much to be desired. If you're looking for good authentic Asian cuisine -- or just good food -- this is NOT the place to go. My group ordered the chicken teriyaki, chicken hibachi, and a few sushi rolls. The chicken in both dishes tasted like plastic. The sushi was mediocre (the fish was not high quality). Also be prepared for poor service. The wait staff borders on incompetent -- poor English and oblivious to their customers' needs. (When our waitress saw we had left most of the meal on the plate, she asked if everything was all right --- but then she clearly didn't know what "terrible" meant, as all we received was a bright smile.) Where to start? The Pepsi was flat, but that happens and it was replaced with a suitable drink. But then we were served the Miso, which seemed to have the distinct flavor of -- wait for it -- Chlorox. Perhaps the bowls were not rinsed after the last cleaning, but whatever the reason, the Miso was undrinkable. Then came the Sushi, with spicy tuna rolls comprised of pre-made brownish mush filling the roll with only a slight spice and an "old tuna" flavor. There was barely any rice covering the nori, and an overabundance of sesame seeds. The worst spicy tuna roll ever! The nigiri were room temperature and did not taste fresh at all. The rice was overcooked. My dining partner's yellow curry got a C- and the accompanying rice was sushi rice not the kind of rice one serves with curry. Our first visit was our last. read more

After getting takeout from this place for over five years (maybe 200 meals), Passion Fin has finally jumped the shark for me. It was always serviceable, not special, but in recent months, the quality of the actual ingredients has declined to the point that I can no longer eat the food. A shrimp dish I got a few weeks ago was downright unappetizing -- half of the shrimp were just mealy and gross. My kids love it. Lunch prices are a very good value (lunch portioned meals offered as low as $7-$8) . Dinner isn't as good a value in my opinion, so we tend to only go for the lunch specials. Service can be a bit slow - they don't seem to have enough waitress/waiter staff for the volume of customers during peak times. There is plenty of parking, which is a huge plus in the Bethesda area. Got takeout of miso, salmon with broccoli, and fried tofu. The miso was just OK. The salmon was way overcooked and not very fresh. It was sitting in an inch of watery sauce, probably from the undrained broccoli. Sauce on top of the salmon was way too sweet. The tofu dish was tasteless and unseasoned. I've been waiting for this place to open for months each time I go into Praline, across the way, to get my favorite macarons. Finally made it in yesterday for lunch, and it was DELICIOUS!!! Great prices, delicious, inventive sushi rolls, a vast menu, and friendly staff. I am so excited to have a fabulous Asian restaurant so close by. I went there for lunch with my daughter on the spur of the moment yesterday and i can't tell you how happy i was sitting there. That space has been empty for so long, and for it to open looking so extremely elegantly beautiful and relaxed and tranquil was so appealing. The menu was filled with offerings, with many lunch specials and a huge dinner menu. Unusual delicious sushi offerings, too. The nicest waitresses and delicious food. Excellent neighborhood dining option when you want more than carryout and less than spending big bucks and fighting parking in Bethesda or downtown DC. Menu items range from average to excellent. We've been honest with staff and management about our opinions and they seem to value them. Dont trust what i like to eat, try it yourself. The owner is American and the staff is Chinese but the sushi is fresh and the specialty rolls are very good. If you like lobster tempura try the Fantasy roll. The Amazing roll is also very good. Desserts are so-so. Too many raisins in the sticky rice. read more

My family ordered from here a few weeks ago. The meal was nothing short of atrocious. The woman gave us a credit, and said it would be under our phone number. I phoned to have the complimentary meal , and was admonished by the service lady whom answered the phone. I was told that if this meal was not good, we would not get another "free meal".... Free meal n I said to the migrant worker, with a few choice words. You mean to tell me that you messed up my order and I am being spoken down to and reprimanded due to your eff ups.....well..I suggest they take their Thai Basil chicken and stuff it up their hens.....who the hell does and says that, when they were in the wrong Initially for making a horrible meal. Absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced! We live in California and have sushi all the time and the waitress was YELLING at us about what is in a California roll. Then when I tell her that I will find something else and she can take that back to the kitchen she starts yelling at us again telling us we don't know what we're talking about. She stomps away with the roll in hand, comes back two seconds later and asks us what we've decided on (in the 2 seconds it took her to walk to the kitchen). We got up and left but not before talking to the manager. The manager was a joke. We told him what was going on and he said he heard her yelling at us and was sorry. Keep in mind WE APPROACHED HIM TO COMPLAIN! Any manger worth his weight would've come over to the table to apologize but nooo not this guy! Then when we were paying him for our appetizer (which he didn't even offer to take care of) he wanted to keep the change ! I will NEVER return to this place. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! read more
