This used to be our favorite local Italian restaurant. The prices went up and the food quality went way down. We ordered the penne ala vodka because our favorite dish is no longer on the menu. The little bit of sauce they put on was so spicy that after two bites it went in the garbage. We also ordered a side of meatballs which were the size of golfballs! Really?? For $9.00. They should have been huge. They were also very spicy. We ordered this meal to go so could not tell the waitstaff how disappointed we were. We will not be going back. I've come to Pasta Cucina off and on for the last 14 years and have always had the same experience! My visit yesterday left me solidified in my thinking that this is a solid Italian option! Located inside Sunset Station, the ambiance is quite impressive as it's decorated to make you feel as though you're sitting outside of a quaint restaurant on the streets of an Italian city! Complete with lemon trees, outdoor building facade, and blue skies overhead, this setting puts you in the mood for Italian classics! This visit had me trying the Pasta Cabonara. It was a mountain of pasta with the traditional creamy sauce, peas, more than enough chunks of ham, and the topper of a poached egg! It's increasingly hard to find places that still do the poached egg for that incredible richness from the moment the egg is torn apart on top of the pasta! My only issue is the need for a little bit more salt added to the dish. The meatballs here are a nice option, as well as the calamari for an appetizer! Completely surprised that I had probably the best spaghetti and meatballs I've ever had in this hotel casino. It normally comes with marinara sauce but I requested vodka sauce. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. The meatballs were so unbelievable tender and flavorful. I would definitely come to Henderson NV just for this meal. Ate at the bar. The pasta cooked nicely, but the sauce tastes low quality and mostly flavorless. Chicken parm tastes pleasantly fire cooked, but the sauce tastes of nothing. They had a small amount of treats for $5-$6 and we ordered most of them. The only meh one was the little panini sandwich. The shrimp scampi was good but a bit too rich. The caprese salad was fantastic, best I've had, please order it. We ordered both the glass of red and white wine they had. The red was boring but the white was pretty good. Both also $5. We also ordered the calamari for like $12, fantastic. There was complimentary bread and two kinds of olive oil, great compliments themselves. Amazingly clean, fast and prompt service, this restaurant is located inside Sunset Station Casino by the Oyster Bar. They do require you wear a mask at all time, they do temperature check. No reservation needed. We got seated within a few minutes. We got served Bread right away. After we ordered, The food came within minutes. I had Chicken Piccata.... it was just delicious!!!! I had to add to this that I ordered dessert... Oh my gosh!!! Tiramisu... it's like a piece of Heavenly puff... not too sweet, decadent, one of the best I have ever tasted... soft and oh so good! Two of us had an early dinner here on a weeknight in October when we were staying at the hotel, and we enjoyed it very much! Having read some recent not-so-great reviews, I warned Husband that I wasn't sure what we were in for, but we had a very good experience, from the service to the quality of the food. Bread was really good and served with both butter and oil. We shared the Caesar which came with some fried anchovies, which always makes me happy. Husband wanted just the Fried Mozzarella, which he enjoyed thoroughly while I chowed down happily on my Baked Penne that had a small amount of meatball and sausage in it. We visited Pasta Cucina for lunch on Christmas Day. The ambience is very nice, with lemon trees providing a canopy over the tables. We were seated promptly, however the table against the wall diagonally was challenging, therefore we had to move the table to make room for our party of three. Service was just ok, however we were never asked if our food was good or if we needed anything. The server appeared to be rushed, even though the restaurant was only about 50%. Pasta Carbonara was so salty my wife couldn't finish the meal. Chicken Parmesan was tasty, however, even though the chicken appeared to be fried appropriately, it was very soggy. Maybe it was prepared earlier and stored, however our meals took 30 minutes to be served. Dessert was good. Overall we were disappointed with our Christmas meal experience at Pasta Cucina. read more

I must start by saying that Kari our server was top notch!!! She was so eloquent and treated us well. The food was well displayed and beautifully decorated. To most people perhaps this is not a "5 star" restaurant, but the service, food and presentation is a 5!!! Bad happy hour experience, bartender was immature and rude around 8pm on 11/14/23. Happy hour specials are not worth $8, very disappointing selections. The pairings dont make since. You can get shrimp without pasta, or muscles without pasta, or sausage without pasta or pasta with nothing, so you basically need to order two $8 entrees to make it a meal which pretty much means youre spending $16 anyway. For out weekly date night, we decided to try this place as it looked nice and the menu looked delicious. We didn't have reservations so we were told it was a 30 minute wait which I felt was no big deal for a Friday night and no reservations. We got a text in about 20 minutes and were seated close to the bar. Even though we were super close to the bar, it was a chill vibe from the crowd and the noise level was very low. The menu was very descriptive and was broken up into categories like "Pastas", "Entrees", "Pizzas" etc. The server stated the chicken parmesan was very popular and a few others, especially the pizzas. I ordered the chicken parmesan and my wife ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. We also split a Caesar salad. Our main courses came out in about 10-15 minutes and were presented very well. The chicken parmesan was a very generous piece of chicken and was very tender, you could break it apart with a fork. The spaghetti and meatballs was very flavorful and the meatballs were able to be held together on the plate but tender enough to have a fork go through. The portions were large enough that we took about 1/2 of each home to enjoy another meal. This one is good enough to give another large Italian pasta restaurant chain a challenge. read more

Wow. What a massive bummer. Not sure what happened, but the magical "cheese" pizza we got a little over a year ago is gone. The pizza we got tonight, assuming would be the same one, was beyond shockingly disappointing. It was truly worse than even microwave or cafeteria pizzas. Also super small (personal size) and cost $14. I cannot believe this is the same restaurant. I will say the waiter was awesome and felt bad and asked the chef to make one like the one we had before when we described it, but even that was only slightly better than the first. I only wish we had photo proof of the first visit's amazing pizza. What a let down. I ordered the carbonara which is about the easiest dish on the menu, while the ingredients were acceptable the execution was a disaster. It was a very slow night so there was ample time to make this 5 minute dish correctly. If I could eat one food everyday for the rest of my life, it would be eggplant parmesan. In my mind eggplant parmesan is a tasty food that is hardly possible to ruin. I am attracted to eggplant parmesan as a duck is to water. With that said I have good things to write about Pasta Cucina. This is actually my second dining experience in a Pasta Cucina. It is an accidental dining experience. I was in Boulder Station bound for Feast Buffet. So were hundreds of other people. I passed over an expected blah meal in the Grand Cafe. I tried Pasta Cucina. I was very satisfied. Fast forward to a couple of weeks later and I was dining in the Sunset Station Pasta Cucina. What is surprising is that Pasta Cucina's prices are relatively the same as the Grand Cafe. An example is that spaghetti and meatballs is $7.99 at Grand Cafe. At Pasta Cucina's it was $9.99 and INCLUDED bread sticks with dipping sauces plus a salad or Minnestroni soup. Where Grand Cafe has a decent atmosphere, Pasta Cucina borders on the elegant with the Sunset Station Medditeranian motif. You could say Pasta Cucina is a borderline classy restaurant with Grand Cafe pricing. When I stepped into Pasta Cucina, which is to the right of Feast Buffet; I observed that the dress code was casual and the noise level average. Throughout the meal, the Waiter was professional and attentive. A few minutes after ordering, the Waiter placed the warm soft bread sticks on the table. They were served with both mozzarella and ranch sauces. I enjoyed every bite being careful to save my appetite. The salad with ranch dressing was a taste of the food to arrive. Meanwhile the Waiter was on top of the Pepsi refills. If I was up to an alcohol beverage, the menu features a decent selection of cocktails for $6. The serving of the three slabs of eggplant parmesan over spaghetti was moderate yet delicious. Although the eggplant parmesan is levels below Chef Mark and Chef Olds, it was slightly better than I remember Olive Garden and Long Island (NY) diners. I had zero issues with the eggplant parmesan and spaghetti. They could of added an additional slab of eggplant parmesan, but I would have little appetite for the cannolis. After savoring every bite of eggplant parmesan with spaghetti, I treated my tastebuds to desert. It was two cannolis with a cup of coffee. The delicious taste of the cannolis complimented the quality coffee. If you are in the vicinity of Sunset Station and enjoy Italian food at Grand Cafe prices, I recommend Pasta Cucina. You live once, why not enjoy delicious Italian food at a price that won't drain your wallet. read more

We haven't been here in years and decided to give it a try. 1st thing is service and it was excellent. Shout out to Kat who was very attentive but not intrusive. 2nd thing is price. The prices were kinda high (for us) 10 bucks for a Ceasars salad that was really good and large enough to split for two. In fact some of the portions are large enough to split for 2. 3rd thing is the food. The spaghetti that came with my eggplant parm was cooked perfectly, not too soft or chewy and had just enough sauce. The eggplant parm was delicious and I will definitely order it again. It wasn't enough to split at least for me but the portion was generous. I took 2/3rds of my spaghetti home.. Husband had the chicken marsala with linguine which is his favorite and he loved it. The Station Hotel Casino is the half way stop from Reno NV to Tubac AZ. this is the third time I've eaten at this restaurant within the hotel. It's always been pretty good. Today, however, we were given that you have no reservations look in an empty restaurant. That look really ticks me off. Then we were seating in "no mans land." When waitress came she started to tell us she didn't know this was her table then she apologized and took our order. She was then very polite and pleasant. However it took a full 65 minutes before we received our entree, unfortunately no apology for the delayed food Going back a few steps we asked if the clams were fresh or canned. She said a combo of both. Bummer, last year they were all fresh. So we ordered shrimp scampi that needed more garlic. Just a really great meal for a super affordable price! I had a birthday dinner here and they served me a complimentary dessert (cannolis) which is always a classy thing to do for a birthday. The atmosphere is very cool with lemon "trees" and a painted sky ceiling. The appetizer sampler we shared was very yummy and I enjoyed my veal marsala greatly! The sauce was tasty and it was a good sized portion for the price. The Caesar salad that came with my entree was pretty big and very fresh! We were in town for a free concert and part of our package was dinner at Pasta Cucina. What they really did was give us a $40 off coupon, that's fine, $40 bucks is $40 bucks. The place opens at 5 but the concert wasn't until 8 so we decided to pop over at 6pm. Walk up to the hostesses and ask for a table for 2. Now the place is over half empty so should be no problem. The young lady at the front asks for a reservation and we tell her no and she informs us it is an hour and 30 mins wait. Again half full. Huh, so we walk off. I whip out my phone, hit open table and get a reservation for 6:15. Turn around walk right back up and tell her we now have a reservation and the scathing look of hate she tossed my way was almost comical. She huffed and seated us. So here's the thing, you had open tables, cause I got one via Open Table, why couldn't you have just seated us the first time rather than make me go through that? Once we were seated the waitress was super quick to greet us, get us our drinks and very helpful with ordering. Food was fantastic and we couldn't even finish half of our individual plates. Both dishes were delish and if we would have had a microwave in the room the left overs would have went with us. This place easily would have rated 5 stars if not for the awful hostesses at the front. Both of those ladies need to be retrained. If you are going to stand by your stance that you won't give open tables without a reservation at least have some decent customer service to instruct folks to go to the app so they can get seated. read more

Almost 3 years ago, I gave this place a very good rating. Since then I've dined there probably two dozen times and for the most part, my 4-star review continued to sum-up my opinion. But as-of now, my opinion of Pasta Cucina has changed -- unfortunately. They re-did their menu sometime last month, and after dining there a few days ago, it is extremely evident to me that their major revision of their menu is pretty much just an effort to lower expenses/boost revenue, and I no longer find good value in dining there. It's unfortunate, however I do look forward to trying the many other Italian restaurants in Henderson. The new menu at Pasta Cucina is drastically smaller than their prior menu. They no longer provide complimentary bread sticks with marinara & alfredo sauces for dipping. Now it's a small loaf of warm bread, with butter & vinegar & oil with balsamic vinegar. Most of the main courses -- at least the pastas -- used to come with a side salad or soup. That is no longer the case. In the past, the eggplant parmesan (& similar dishes) would come on a bed of pasta. That's no longer the case. I ordered a salad ($9), eggplant parmesan ($14) and an iced tea & my bill was $27. That's insane. Staff is still friendly, ambiance is nice, etc. but as someone who had many a meal there BEFORE they totally revised the menu to boost profits, Pasta Cucina is no-longer a place I have any interest in returning to. I don't know how much of their business was from locals, but in looking at some other recent reviews/updates, I'm not the only 'local' to have posted about Pasta Cucina's downward trend. What was apparently done out of desperation to boost profits may very well doom the place. Too bad, but as I said at the beginning, I'm looking forward to spending my time & $$ trying other local Italian places now. read more
