My heritage is from southern Italy. The house dressing for the salad was tasteless and way too large. I ordered "homemade cavatelli" tasted like purchased dried pasta. And came with a garlic and olive oil sauce that was bland with no flavor. The chicken parm was thick and tough and the sauce was runny sweet tomato juice and also bland. My Aunt suggested Pasta Fazool to me and my wife when we first moved to Willow Grove and boy am I glad she did! Pasta Fazool knows how to do it right. Every meal has been fantastic and they always seem to have specials, so there is always something new to try. Walked in to see olive oil & freshly grated cheese on each table so I knew this was going to be good. We ordered a mozzarella appetizer, a Caesar salad, penne in vodka sauce with sausage and rigatoni in marinara sauce with meatballs. The bread here goes perfectly with the olive oil. The mozzarella arrived in a plum tomato sauce. It was the best I've ever eaten. The salad was big enough for two people. The entrees were enormous and delicious. Went tonight with friends. Service was good, although it did take a while for the waiter to come to our table and get our order. Hubby and I ordered lasagna bolognese , which was huge and delicious. Worst experience ever! Went with ten friends to Pasta Fazool last night. We had a reservation for 6:30. It took twenty minutes for us to get water once we were seated. Forty minutes later I asked if we could hear the specials and order our dinner. A waiter came over to our table and said he had been waiting for everyone in our party to arrive. Everyone was there except one person who cancelled at the last minute. He read us the specials. When he was done I asked if we could have some bread, he replied that it was in the oven. Instead of proceeding to take our order he walked away from the table. Ten minutes later I asked him if we could place our order. We all gave him our orders and I again asked if we could have bread. He replied that the bread was in the oven. A short time later we got our bread. The waiter came back to our table and started screaming at me for no reason. He said he waited until everyone was here to come over and let us know about the dinner specials. A second later he yelled that we all came into the restaurant at the same time. He proceeded to say that this is the way the restaurant does things. Someone at the table asked for the manager. We were told that the owner was there and in the kitchen. We asked to speak with him relating to the service and the waiter being so rude and abrupt with us. The owner didn't come out of the kitchen. The waiter did come back to the table and apologize. Our entrees came and some were wrong. It took quite a while for us to get our bill. The owner never came out of the kitchen to address our concerns, apologize for the waiters poor behavior or apologize for the poor service or to offer us anything such as free dessert to try and makeup for the above. To top it off the food was horrible. Certainly will not go back. read more

Best Italian restaurant I've ever eaten at. There are several components to a good restaurant, the quality of food being number one, the service, and the atmosphere are all most important. This restaurant succeeds in all three of these. I get a warm fuzzy feeling just thinking about it! The owner, Mario makes coming here special every time. He is always happy to see you and no matter how busy he is, he makes a point to greet my husband and me every time. The food is exceptionally good, homemade, high quality food. I highly reccomment the chicken parmesan and the gnocchi. With most of these meals you can expect to have enough for lunch and maybe even a second dinner. While quantity isn't as important as quantity, these meals make you happy to have both. Love this place! read more

My wife and I have been to P.F. several times both eating in and taking out. it was quickly becoming our favorite restaurant in the area. The food is typically very good at a reasonable price and the service is usually good. Last night (Saturday) we decided to share "our place" with a couple of friends. Long story short we anticipated using the coupon which we had cut from the P.F. takeout menu. When I presented the coupon to the register person who had come to our table with the check he all but threw it back in my face and saying "we don't accept coupons on Friday or Saturday". I told him we have a problem then, because that restriction doesn't appear on the coupon. I asked to speak to the manager, nothing. I grabbed our waiter and brought him up to speed. He reiterated the coupon policy. I again asked for the manager. We sat another 10 minutes and nothing. Needless to say, we won't be going back. FYI I have seen other reviews with the same complaint about these guys. Pretty stupid if you consider losing good customers over $20 for something that's obviously their fault. Oh well. read more

What a great gem this place is,it's our favorite spot to dine out, staff if friendly and informative about about the food. Had diner with another couple Saturday night they had chicken Parmigiana and they raved about it,I had pasta and meatballs my favorite, my wife had shrimp and pasta. My wife and I went hereon a date night. We decided to try someplace nearby we had never been to in the past, someplace new. This place is right down the road. We we walked in it looked nice and we were seated almost immediately. We were given menu's and told the specials by a nice waiter. We ordered our entrees from the menu and ordered a salad from the specials. It was an Arugula salad with candied walnuts in a raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Very good! The entrees were good, not excellent. The service was good as well. I guess what has driven me to write a less than good review is that I presented them a coupon for 5 dollars off our order, the waiter said we couldn't use it on the weekend. No where on the coupon did it make any reference to that statement. I just think it is dishonest to have a coupon and make up some rule not on the coupon. This soured what had been basically a pleasurable experience. We will not be back. read more

This place is amazing! It's like a little italian hide-out away from everything! The waiter was great and pretty amazing as he was serving the WHOLE restaurant (which was full)! We had the spaghetti with this tomato plum sauce and capers... so great! And they always give you such a big portion it;s definitely worth the money. Plus BYOB what more could you ask for?! After hearing good reviews from a couple of officemates, i decided to try the place too. Resto claims they have old school cooking unfortunately, i found the taste too bland and a bit strange for me.... - eggplant farmigiana had fishy taste. i just couldnt finish my plate. - cavatelli brocolli was very bland ...attempted to add some parmesan cheese that came with the complementary bread but still did not get satisfied with the taste. - customer service needs improvement. 1st no drink list was offered and then server comes asking what drink i wanted to order, those assisting the server also grabbed my plate without even asking if i was already done with my food, she just went ahead and grabbed my plate, the server never even came back to our table to ask how our food was, and after they quickly grabbed the plates from the table server did not even stop by to offer us desert. Really felt i was not valued as a customer. i almost left no tip at all but just still left some 12% for the effort they put in cooking the food (which i was not even satisfied with). experience at this place so not good. if only i can rate it at "0 stars". i dont think i'll be back here. i do not recommend this place. read more

My wife and I went to this BYOB restaurant in a strip center in Hatboro for the first and last time last night. We arrived at 9 pm to a packed house and we only had to wait 10 minutes for a table to seat us. My wife ordered the special avocado salad for $8.95 which was 4 pieces of unripe roma tomato topped with avocado, fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers that needed some seasoning to spice up the dish. I ordered the mussels appetizer for $8.95 and was served a bowl of still FROZEN mussels that were supposed to be heated up but they forgot to heat them. I never ate a mussel popsicle and I didn't want to start last night. The owner Mario, who tries very hard apologized and took them back and returned in a few minutes with an order of clams in a white sauce that were extremely overdone and overspiced. The main courses came and my wifes eggplant parm $14.95was rather large, made from nicely cooked thin slices of eggplant, but lacked cheese as eggplant parm should have. The sauce was rather good. My chicken sorrentino $15.95 was very nice, but the two sides of potato cake and string beans were both not heated at all and the potato cake was ice cold. Overall our meals were very dissapointing and for the prices that they are charging in todays economy we will not be returning, which is very disturbing since we live within 5 minutes of the restaurant. read more

Caution!! This restaurant is no where near as fabulous as it used to be! Portions are smaller, food is being warmed up and simply does not taste as well as it did. When the owner is not on sight, you will not be treated as well as when he is. Very good food and an awesome atmosphere. We had my mom's 60th birthday party here and they were able to seat 12 of us comfortably. Everyone enjoyed their food and the servings sizes were huge. this restaurant was good, not great the first 2 times we went there. but tonight's experience was not even good. we ordered the special salad to share and it was not even big ennough for 1 person. there were four small slices of tomatos over slivers of avocado with slivers of mozarella on top, some miniature supermarket stuffed green olives and some jarred roasted peppers and it was $9.95. my husband ordered the orrichette with broccoli rabe and sausage, okay but it had at least 2 inches of grease at the bottom of the dish and it was $18.95. i ordered rigatoni with marinara sauce and it was $13.95, half of the rigatoni was overcooked and falling apart and the rest was not even al dente and the pasta and sauce were cold. everyone else in the restaurant got complimentary bruschetta, we did not. overpriced and not worth it. go up route 611 and go to Fountainside or go to Roman Delight. read more

My favorite Italian place in the area! Great BYOB! If you want the best bang for your buck take advantage of lunch hours and lunch takeout. Portions are still huge and half the price. Service is friendly and I always feel like I'm treated like family when I come here. You always get a nice warm basket of a semolina toasted sesame Italian bread with olive oil and olives. The penne vodka is such a simple dish but they do it perfect! Calamari is a light batter or just dusting of flower so you really get the texture of the squid. And the mozzarella in in corrozza is pretty much a cheese fried bomb of goodness. My fiancé always does a chicken or veal and we've never been disappointed, side veggies are fresh and not over cooked (always have a little crunch) with just the right seasoning. We came here on a Sunday at 2p and didn't realize dinner service didn't start till 3p and the cook seated us anyway and went out of his way to serve us! The food at this restaurant is incredible and authentic! Each time I have been to Pasta Fazool, our waiter or waitress has been fabulous! They have great specials and everything I've had there has been delicious. My only complaint would be the bussing staff and the way staff rushes you through. The bussing staff didn't even speak to us, they'd just come up and take our plates away without checking. It's very busy at this restaurant so I know there was a wait for others, and I'm sure the restaurant wanted us to move out so other patrons could come in. Still, it got in the way of experience by being a bit rude. Despite this I'd still recommend! read more

I had a 6:30 reservation. It was past 6:30 and there was an empty booth. I inquired about it but they told me it was for someone who requested a booth for 7:00. Are you kidding me! My reservation is at 6:30. 6:30 comes before 7:00! You're going to keep me and my family waiting, and standing, while you have a vacant booth?
