[[HIGHLIGHT]]Local favorite, friendly staff, reasonable prices, clean, and generous portions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm looking forward to coming back.

This was recommend to me by my best friend who hadn't been in years but said they use to be awesome. Boy, was he right! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just driving up to the establishment, you could tell it was nice. Parking was plentiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As soon as entered, was seated promptly and Kevin and Jacob waited on us. Their service was spot on, great servers. Started out with cherry coke and iced tea. Was awesome.they then brought bread and butter out that was fresh. Next we both got salads and both were plentiful. My friend ordered the chicken modiga with broccoli as side and I myself ordered the Cavalli con broccoli. When they came out, I was surprised. The portions were more then pleasant and piping hot. I would Def recommend this place instead of having to go all the way to the hill for great Italian food, this is a hidden gem in south county off telegraph. Cost for 2 of us was only $68, what a bargain for all the food we ate, the quality and the amount we still took home as doggy bags. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Was an awesome atmosphere as well. Classy but still laid back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Gianino's is a longtime favorite of my wife's family, who live in South County (St. Louis Co). We have passed by the restaurant for years driving on Telegraph Road, and while I have had their pizza many times, this was my first experience inside the restaurant. It did not disappoint. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is way bigger than I was expecting when we walked in. The bar is near the entrance, and then there's a huge seating area off to the side.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went on a Saturday night, and it was Valentine's weekend, so we knew to get there early. We got a table right away and ordered drinks. My wife got wine and I ordered a caramel-flavored martini off of her recommendation. Martini's are not usually my first choice, but this was top notch! Especially for the price. Our server was excellent and extremely attentive, even as the restaurant started getting packed for dinner. This is very much a neighborhood/local place, but she was very kind to me on my first experience, and walked me through her thoughts about dinner. After changing my mind five times, I finally settled on prisciotto ravioli, and it was amazing. I enjoyed every bite. It was a huge portion, so I got to bring some home with me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was lively, yet somehow cozy, and extremely friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As we left my in-laws must have said hello to five different tables of neighbors. I can see how this place has stayed in business for 50 years - people love it! This very much is a local place far south of downtown, so I wouldn't expect anyone visiting town to go out of their way to stop in. But if you happen to find yourself staying in Oakville, I cannot recommend it enough. I truly enjoyed my first dinner experience at Gianino's, and can't wait to go back!

My family from out of town wanted the Hill. The Hill takes early planning and generally reservations or 7... So. I leaned on a foodie friend to tell me the name of their go to Italian restaurant. Bill Gianino's. "We go there a couple times a month. Same type of restaurant as some on the Hill, but this one is better". Ok. Better than some we love on The Hill?! Ok, I need to be the judge of this. Taking 3 particular young kids should do the trick. Wow! Wow! And Wow! Let's start with the appetizers. The calamari was a massive portion which fed all 7 of us. Equal portions. All nicely flash friend and two yummy dipping sauces. Toasted Ravioli. Stuffed to the brim with filling and perfect crunch! Tomato dipping sauce. Yum. Entree's all come with you choice of salad (house/ Caesar) soup (which must be great they were out) pasta, or veggies. Salads were HUGE! The house salad was the classic St, Louis Italian. Very good. The Caesar was good, but a little too much parm for our preference. PASTA: I think the photos speak for themselves. Delicious!!!!!!! Not a single one of these were not delicious. But, beware.... The portions are enough for 5 people! Great for leftovers. *wink

This is a nice restaurant. The service was good, but nothing spectacular. I had a Chicken Spedini Sandwich with the vegetable as my side. It was brussels sprouts which were VERY tasty. They advertise themselves as traditional Italian and I totally agree with that. Nothing really stood out on the menu to me. The cocktail I had was good also. Everything about the restaurant was good, with nothing to take it to the great level. Wouldn't be adverse to returning.

Got there early, 5:30. Waitress was friendly. Introduced herself and her bussboy. Gave us time to catch up, no pressure or rush. We ordered meatballs and toasted ravioli as appetizers. I'm not a fan of meatballs so didn't eat those but the toasted ravioli were really good. Large and filling was abundant. I ordered cod piccata with an eye to leftovers for a Friday during lent. It was good. Sauce was surprising in color and thickness but had a good flavor with plenty of capers. Salad was large and their signature dressing was good, as always. Side of white sauce was fine, not really hot. No room for dessert. Service was great, food was good, dinner with friend is the best

So, this year, we were again passing through St Louis on my birthday and I wanted to go back. I was hoping that it was as good as I remembered. I feared that I would be disappointed but I wasn't. It was as great as I remembered. I had their rigatoni with sausage, my wife had baked spaghetti with meatballs, my BIL had lasagna and my SIL had salmon. I also added a classic Ceasar salad. All of our entrees were excellent. The service is superb and definitely deserves a 5-star rating. Our waiter was excellent - he said he's been doing this for 18 years and was one of the best, most professional waiters I've ever met. Anthony, the manager, deserves special thanks for resolving an issue with where we were being seated. He was also the epitome of professionalism. This time, we arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday night and were sat at a table in the main thoroughfare. The ambiance was poor and it was so loud that we needed to shout to be heard. We ordered the caramelized cauliflower appetizer which was drowning in cream sauce and so smothered in cheese that it no longer looked like a vegetable. It was too rich for us. They were considerate to give us plates to split the scampi style shrimp, which was well cooked. However, the grilled beef tenderloin and potatoes were very lackluster. We'd asked for medium rare and the kitchen must have been rushing as it was still raw in the middle. We tried to get the server's attention, but they were very busy and we gave up. A particularly strange and rude interaction from our server when collecting the check left a bad taste in our mouths. I was glad to see their popularity but disappointed at how it decreased the quality of our experience. Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant time overall. If you are planning to go, I recommend choosing a less busy time for a better experience.

We started with the toasted ravioli, and it may have been the best I've ever had. Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Our party of four was thrilled with every entrée. I ordered a veal dish with a side of pasta, and it was absolutely outstanding. Everyone else ordered pasta dishes, and there was plenty of "oohing" and "ahhing" at the table with every bite. The portions are huge, so we're all looking forward to enjoying the leftovers. Service was friendly from start to finish. Our server was warm and attentive, although things moved a little slower than expected, and it took a while for our entrées to arrive. That said, once the food hit the table, it was clear the wait was worth it. The restaurant has a wonderful history and old-school charm, though the dining room could probably use a little refreshing. We also stopped at the bar before dinner, and unfortunately that was the biggest letdown of the evening. The presentation and flavor of our cocktails were surprisingly disappointing--they looked and tasted more like drinks from a budget hotel bar than from one of The Hill's iconic restaurants. Thankfully, the incredible meal more than made up for the cocktails. With so many outstanding Italian restaurants on The Hill, we've been fortunate to try many of them, and Cunetto House of Pasta has firmly earned a spot in our personal Top 3.
