An unassuming and popular local Italian restaurant, come experience a fresh "cafeteria" style served meal for delicious sandwiches, salads, pizzas or pastas. Open Mon-Sat, very casual dining and ambience, foods and specials prepared daily. Great lunch spot for a quick bite if craving Italian deli! Overall, 4.0+ rated with friendly counter service, open seating, and fair prices. Expect $10-15pp for meal and drink. Plus they have takeout available. Today I ordered the 1/2 Roast Beef sandwich (bun dipped in au jus) and small Italian salad (with or w/out olives). Loved the Spicy Giardiniera peppers on side to add to my sandwich! They toss the salad right at the counter, and serve you when walking your "tray" down the order line. Delicious and filling meals, everything they serve is fresh and looks mouth-watering! I want to return to try their pasta or pizza dishes. Can't wait to stop back again for my next lunch or dinner! Check out Grassi's, it's a diamond in the rough - ENJOY!

Another great meal at Grassi's! Place was slammed today (Tuesday at Noon) but they get people in and out pretty quick. We got their lasagna, spaghetti and their roast beef; Everything was AMAZING! The place is super nice inside with old photos and the family dishes everything out cafeteria style. This is a must if you are in the area.

I was pleasantly surprised to get good Italian food someplace other than the Hill. Grassi's serves up good Italian food at a reasonable price, cafeteria style. Fast, friendly service. Everyone in our group enjoyed their choices. My only wish, would be to get a glass of vino with my meal.

We could only suffer through two squares each. Burnt crust made it inedible.

Great pizza environment...unfortunately the pizza is not good. It looked great when it arrived at the table, but the thin crust had a burnt taste and the mixture of cheese consisting of provel, provolone and mozzarella was just average at best. The pepperoni lacks flavor. People were super friendly, loved the location, and the vibe inside. Food quality is reflected in the two star rating. On to the next place on our pizza quest in STL!

Go and try Grassi's today! I've loved eating here ever since my nearby high school days. Yesterday my boyfriend and I had a tasty lunch. I ordered the Italian salad with green olives and the Becky Debby sandwich, a chicken parmigiana cutlet on garlic cheese bread. It was so tasty! My boyfriend William ordered the salad like me and the daily special, the meatball burger. It was a large smashed meatball that's prepared like a burger and served on cheese garlic bread too. It has just the right amount of spices and was delicious! Ambiance is pleasant with attractive photos of nearby high schools lining the hallway to where you place your order. Service is quick and sandwiches where brought to our table when ready. Easy to get to location in Frontenac south of Chaminade School and west off Lindbergh Blvd. If you go at 11:20-12:30 be prepared for a wait in the ordering line but the line moves quickly.

The smaller bread/ Terry (Veal Parmigiana). The chewy and bad tasting meat. The salad tasted different but that could be my taste buds.

What has happened to Grassi's? The last couple of times I have eaten there it's been a disappointment. The Vito's house was full of ham and roast beef that was chewy and unappetizing. The veal parmigiana was full of grissel. It was very thin and small. It seems that the bread is smaller as is the cheese that is used for the garlic cheese bread. I've been going back hoping that it was just a bad day for the kitchen. Not so much. I hate this. Grassi's was my "go to" place that I could count on.

The menu is straightforward with something for everyone, with a decent variety of salads, pastas, entrees, and Neapolitan style pizzas. I always appreciate a one-page menu, knowing that what they do, they do very well. They also had specials which sounded great. Prices are not bad at all for a nice sit-down lunch in 2026. The decor is simple, but still warm and inviting, with a view into the kitchen area. I ordered the Campagnelle Alfredo (with no mushrooms). It was excellent! Friends ordered the risotto special and the pizza and both were very happy also. The staff members were attentive and friendly from the moment we walked in. The host even asked us the name of our friend who was running late so that he could seat her when she arrived. These little things really are nice and added to our experience of feeling welcomed. I can't wait to come back for a glass of wine!

Shortly after I sat down, we started with cocktails, I went with an old standard, but my husband and son tried signature drinks, and I highly recommend the Milk dud martini (it's almost dessert). We had Mark as our server (who was extremely attentive and helpful in making selections), he suggested a sample appetizer of tortellini and lobster ravioli (just a sample of each) and it was the perfect start to dinner. We then moved on to salads, some had the Italian salad and some had the Caesar - both were good, but the Caesar was served in a tortilla shell.... would have been better in a parmesan crisp cup. I selected the Sea Bass special - it was perfectly cooked and was in a perfect sauce. My husband and son had the Reagan pasta and my daughter in law had the Busch chicken all cooked to perfection. My other 2 sons had steak, one had the filet and one had the strip - both very generous cuts of beef and cooked perfectly....all in all a good night. Only curious item was when I asked for one of the small rooms I was told they had reservations for them....but we did not see it

We arrived on a quiet, cold night and were seated right away. There were plenty of tempting menu options and specials, which made choosing difficult. We started with Nonna's meatball and each ordered a pasta dish. My wife chose the pistachio pasta, and I ordered the pappardelle. The meatball was excellent, and the sauce had an almost barbecue-like tang. My pappardelle was incredibly satisfying and easy to finish despite the generous portion. That said, my wife's dish was the clear winner. The chili brought a piquancy that read as a pleasant smoky note, perfectly complementing the tomato base. The tiramisu was unique and truly one of a kind. We will definitely be back.
