Though the setting is strip mall cookie cutter, the birthday boy in question-- (and all party members attending) absolutely loved these people's garlic bread and meat lasagna. Alas, there were some snooty vegeterians in the mix of our little soiree, and in firmly toeing the line of said snootiness (is it just me, or is this a somewhat familiar theme for these people? I'm sure it's all just my fevered imagination, once again), the veg-heads were less than wowed by the veggie lasana. Ahhh well. I can be a real bitch. Quick to judge a book by it's cover. Judgemental and dismissive. I try not to be and can usually overcome it, but I admit I am often that way (and you probably are too if you are a Yelper, but then there I go, judging yet again). I saw Pasta Pronto from a far almost 4 years ago when I started a new gig in Hillsboro and was exploring my lunch time options. I barely gave it a second thought when I saw it sitting there in a shopping center. It just looked boring and not worth my time. Dismissing this place was a big mistake. After reading some of the reviews I finally came around and checked it out all this time later. The first thing I ordered was a chicken parmigiana sandwich. It was so good I came back the next day for a calzone. The chicken parmigiana sandwich is fantastic. The grilled chicken breast was perfect and moist, with the spinach, mozzarella, Parmesan, and pesto giving it the flavor one would hope those ingredients aspire to. And the ciabatta they use for this sandwich? Simply glorious. Tasted fresh out of the oven, but I did not confirm if this was the case or they simply know how to properly warm up bread. This thing was huge too. The calzone was really good, but didn't quite live up to the amazing sandwich. They rotate the calzone filling options and I chose what I think was called 'The Italian' and was filled with pepperoni, salami, tomatoes, onions and olives. The crust was a little dry and that may have been the only problem. They serve salad (which, from what I understand, has a superb dressing) or soup as a side with most meals. I chose the soup both times. They have a house soup which is spicy sausage and pasta in a tomato broth and then one that they rotate as a second option. The house soup is very good. Be sure to get yourself a side of garlic bread. It is magic. They seem to marinate the bread in garlic butter and let the flavor soak up clear through so every bite is a burst of excellence. The bread somehow stays so dense it is hard to figure out how it can hold so much flavor. The interior of the restaurant is much more interesting then the exterior. It is inviting and well done. One thing I noticed, which I found ironic and disturbing, was a sticker they had on my to go container, bearing the name of a now closed restaurant in Lake Oswego: Amerigo's. Amerigo's also proves how judgmental I can be. Despite getting good reviews, I refused to go there because I hated the name. I found the name of the place so damn annoying that I laughed at the suggestion that I go there. Apparently, Pasta Pronto partnered with someone to open Amerigo's and has left over packaging which they rightly do not want to let go to waste. Amerigo's folded after a year and a half or two years. The worst part about this? It had the same menu as Pasta Pronto and I missed out yet again. I don't think Pasta Pronto is going anywhere after about 14 years in business, and I plan on making up for all the time I deprived myself of this wonderful place. read more

So, these guys are NOT closed, they just moved across 185th in Hillsboro and are in a new location. The food is still great and I really like their new layout. It's a little smaller, but there are a lot more windows, so it seems bigger. The thing I love about this place in the specials board. Sure they have all of your favorite items like the lasagna and the meatball sub that is not to be missed, but I like to try something different every time I go. Today was the Bisteca, a creamy sauce with penne and steak. It is really good and really rich, makes it tough to go back to work. They also have an excellent eggplant parm and my other favorite, the shrimp scampi ravioli. Each meal also comes with bread and salad. I like the fact that they now have bottles of olive oil and balsamic at each table so you can mix a little something up to dip the bread in. This truly is a family run place in a sea of strip malls and chains. With the economy being what it is, I hope they hang in there. So if you're in the west 'burbs (West-siiide) stop in and have lunch or dinner, it's way better meal than anything you will get at some chain. read more

What an odd looking place. I would have never gone in here if it wasn't for yelpers giving it a good review. from the outside you can completely miss the place, or think of it as some crap just trying to turn tables.But once you finish ordering and the food comes out, you'll realize that hey you really can't judge a book by it's cover. I heard the other night that they make their pasta there onsite 2 times a day. hey isn't that a good enough reason to eat here? ok i guess not but what if i said it's acually good? not yet? well then what if i tell you the dessert is really good? No? dam what do you want from me? get in there and eat already! on a side note some of my friends who had their dessert said "it was better then papa haydn" now we enjoy papa haydn so don't get me wrong, but pasta pronto surprises me that their meals didn't end at the entree, it ends at dessert. read more

I recently visited this new location and ordered my usual, spicy sausage sauce over linguine with an Italian sausage on the side to-go. The pasta did not taste fresh, it was overcooked and slimy. The Italian sausage was extremely overcooked, dry and tough. A thorough disappointment. I've happily patronized Pasta Pronto for 10 years. It's with a heavy heart that I am compelled to leave a 2 star review. My previous review on 8/14/2011 for their former location at 2515 NW Town Center Drive was 5 stars. The only bad thing about this place is that it's in a strip mall....but then what in Hillsboro isn't in a strip mall? The food deserves much better accommodations. It's the most authentic, and freshest Italian food you'll find in the greater Beaverton-Hillsboro metropolitan area. read more

Good, solid comfort food here. The bolognese sauce is very good; the browned butter and garlic is also quite good but be sure you like garlic (as I do) -- the sweetness of roasted garlic marries well with the rich brown butter. Plan a nap for after. Pluses: quick, friendly service, and the warm homemade bread. It's really delicious dipped in olive oil with a little salt and black pepper. Prices seem reasonable to me; a nice size plate of pasta (comes with bread) ran me $8.99 today. Opportunities: there are 2 flat screens as you walk in with the "grab and go" menu and the daily specials. You then order at the counter next to them. The regular menu is not posted anywhere --- it's on the counter, in front of the cash register. So only the person actually ordering can see it. [Note, paper copies are available on the counter, so you can take one to read as you wait or sit down and go over it.] Posting the regular menu or putting it on one of the flat screens would be most helpful. Also -- there is a half wall separating the kitchen from seating -- over which you can clearly see the microwave with helpful notes posted on it about the microwave cooking time of various dishes. Look, I know part of the fast service is probably because a microwave is sometimes involved, and I'm okay with that (in a limited capacity) -- but having it so visible kind of reinforces that point and it's probably not putting your best foot forward. Maybe make it a little less visible or at least keep the sign below sight lines. read more

If you want some quick pasta for lunch or dinner go to pasta, pronto! Pasta Pronto isn't bad at all and were pleasantly surprised by the food quality. Prices are not bad. Their specials are 11.95 (without meat) and 12.95 with meat. They have a build it yourself pasta option - kinda like the olive garden which was nice and cheap (about 9 bucks). Our son ordered the children's cheese Ravioli with Alfredo sauce. The sauce was creamy and rich and tasted wonderful. The only thing that was weird is that they added some Fussili pasta as a filler to the ravioli dish probably to make the meal appear bigger than it really is. My partner had the lasagne, which according to him was pretty good...he did order a meatball with it which was not that great and ended up making him sick. The star deduction is based on two things that were a bummer. One, the customer service was not that great in there. Two younger girls were not exactly friendly. Don't get me wrong, they weren't rude, just not friendly or overly helpful. It was out first time there so we took a little longer to order but I felt the girl behind the counter rush us instead of giving us some options or recommendations. Two, I was a little annoyed by the fact that both their Yelp! menu as well as their website states that they have "Zesty Stuffers" similar to Stromboli but I was not able to order one. The response from the girl was "We do sell them but they are not on our menu. And once they are ordered we actually have to make them first". Okay, so I ask "can I order one?" Girl: "No.". No explanation why. But I gotta say, the gentleman working in the kitchen who may have been the manger or owner was super nice! As a long time visitor of the old pasta Pronto I must say I was extremely disappointed on my visit this time. I ordered the salmon with bow tie and it was probably the saltiest dish I have ever eaten. When we told them they said it's because of the salmon and they hadn't added any additional salt. I've had salmon pasta at other locations. This is NOT what it tastes like. My son's plain pasta was OK but that's like saying a boiled egg was ok. But the seventh heaven tasted old and nowhere near my memory of it. It will take a miracle to get me back in here. read more

I used to live on that side of town and we would frequent the prior location all the time. Once the owner was closing and saw us pull up - we were just in the area and thought they would still be open. They INSISTED on feeding us even though we were trying to drive away - it seriously was no big deal. They were so beyond nice every time we went in. Their food is unique and they make everything from scratch for great prices too. I always get the alfredo which is killer and their bread is amazing. But most dishes there are well made with delicious sauces developed by the owner. And it won't cost you an arm and a leg. Quite a surprise!! Don't be fooled by the mediocre decor, modern meets bistro/family owned fast food restaurant lol! It's kind of hard to describe the overall look and feel of this place but the food will not disappoint. The food here is much to my surprise very good! Brand new, very clean place- just a little bright - reminds us of a sandwich or yogurt shop. Food is just as good as before, but I really miss the ambience the old place had. New place really feels too 'fast foody' and sterile. This is a pretty good pasta place, come as quite a surprise, given that it's across the street from a Barnes and Noble & Doesn't look like much from the outside. But they have a reasonable selection of inexpensive wines, lots of different pastas and a number of desserts on the menu. They do not have a lunch menu so you'll end up eating too much or with leftovers because the portions are quite large. I really like the bread they use for their sandwiches. Both the Parmesan Chicken and Meatball sandwiches were very flavorful and tasty! One quirk of the restaurant layout is that the pop machine is right next to the bathrooms in the very back. Also, the tables are a little on the small side. Between the bread, salad, and meal plates we ran out of room for three of us at a four top table. You do order at the counter but they bring your food and clean up the table. I like places that have a post-ordering waiter service experience. read more

Very Frustrating when you make an order through Grub Hub whose only job is to pick up the food that Pasta Pronto makes and you don't get everything you ordered. I made an order for extra items and did not receive them and then when I called back they said they can't do anything. I really hate that word Can't. As a business that should not be a word you use. You either will, or you won't! I just wanted the food that was missing and to be made whole. They gave me excuses about being short-staffed which only made me more frustrated cause that's not my problem. Then, the lady said I was being rude. I asked her how and she said the tone of my voice. So now I am being insulted for speaking normally by the employee who can't do anything and won't make me whole or refund me. I have to call Grub Hub, who did refund me vs sending someone to get me the food that was missing.
