Had a great dinner at Pasta Veneta. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant is a little off the beaten path, it certainly wasn't crowded when I was there (I hope Chicago isn't sleeping on this place!)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service, food, everything was excellent! I had the Caesar salad, foccacia of the day, roasted beets with goat cheese, gnocchi with braised beef short ribs, and a single scoop (I was stuffed) of fig and goat cheese gelato. Highlights: the roasted beets w/goat cheese have a basil-infused olive oil base that really makes the whole dish shine. Awesome. The gnocchi was soft, puffy, like clouds....and oh so tasty. And the gelato was just unusual enough (I used weird when talking to the waiter) to be really really good. All in all a great dining experience.

The food was great, but the portions were small and quite expensive. My boyfriend got the risotto and it was exceptional! My spaghetti bolognese was good, but reminded us of fancy Chef Boyardee. The service was slow and our waitress was a little odd and we felt ignored. When making the reservation we booked a high top table, when we arrived there were no high top tables even in the restaurant. Overall, good food, but there's other places we want to try before we'd consider returning

Reallllyyy wanted to give this place a higher ranking because the food was so fresh and delicious (I loved every bite of the corn truffle ravioli) but the portion was quite small so I left still very hungry; I think if I had added a protein I would have had a better outlook on this place. There were several extra fees - our group paid $12 for 3 carafes of water which we did not know about, so felt a bit caught off guard. The service was good though and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the space was quiet[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I'd definitely like to come back and try more because everyone really enjoyed their meal!

We went at an awkward time, so it wasn't as busy, but our server was great. What we ordered: Burrata: It was a bit small and tricky to share with a table of four. I would have chosen a different appetizer if I knew it would be a precut burrata. Rigatoni w Pesto & Stracciatella Fresca: Very good! I loved the creamy sauce with the cheese, and the pasta was cooked al dente. Duck Confit w Pappardelle & Duck Ragout: Something different! I enjoyed the combination of the thick-cut noodles and the duck. The presentation was nice too. Fettuccine Alfredo w Parmesan & Chicken: Can't go wrong with fettuccine alfredo. Though next time I might try some of their other more adventurous menu items.

The food and service were top notch. The pasta is made in house and the flavors are robust. The pasta with duck is tangy and has a deep depth of flavor in each bite. The spaghetti has bold tomato flavor that is beautifully complimented by the sausage addition. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is gorgeous as we sat near a floral arrangement that was fragrant and more effective than a B&BW candle![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My only surprise was the charge for water. I assumed water was complimentary. It is not.

Extremely underrated Italian spot in the West Loop! Prices are much more fair than other restaurants in the area and the food is equally (if not more) delicious! All of the pasta is made in house. There is a wide variety of dishes and definitely something for everyone. I enjoyed the truffle pasta with caviar-- so decadent and a generous portion! The service here was a bit slow at first but once it got going everything was great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I enjoyed the upscale yet laid back environment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is at the end of Fulton so it's less packed than others and a great place to engage in conversation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'd recommend bringing family here![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

It's rooftop and patio season in Chicago and this spot has thee perfect patio for you to enjoy while having some of their delicious Italian Food! You can watch them making the different pastas right inside of the restaurant, which is super cool! They also have a full bar in the restaurant where you can enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail with your delicious meal! My rigatoni was so good. The pesto sauce on there was perfect and the homemade taste of the pasta makes such a big impact on the meal! I also got some homemade fig ice cream and wow! It was first time having it and it was soooooo good, plus it had pieces of fresh figs on it. Loved it! This newer addition to the Fulton Market area is perfect for the summer! Pay them a visit and tell em that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you! Enjoy!

We decided to check this place out since most of the reviews were stellar. The few bad reviews stated portion sizes were small. I did not find that to be the case at all. We ordered more than we really need to based on those reviews but I'm so glad we did. Everything was amazing. All pastas are made in house. Everything had a fresh quality about it. My kids were very excited about the butter noodle option. Our server was fantastic. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a smaller restaurant but very clean and classic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would absolutely come here again.

This was a great place with wonderful ambiance! We got focaccia to start, it was dry and came out at room temperature. It was only $3.50, so not a bad price and good to use for dipping in pasta sauce. Served with olive tapenade. The bruschetta was topped to the brim! Lol. The mozzarella, tomatoes, zucchini, onions were tossed in dressing and topped on a yummy crunchy bread. I loved this fresh take on bruschetta. The pear salad was a good fresh component. I love arugula and pear, Gorgonzola added a nice nuttiness to the dish. Be sure you like all these items before ordering! Corn ravioli with truffle was soooooo good. Really enjoyed the subtle truffle notes and fresh corn inside the ravioli. The sauce was not too heavy and went perfect with the corn. The pesto is not pictured but also very yummy. Pesto sauce was soooooo creamy and luscious. They have chili flakes if you ask for it, but the chili flakes are not at all spicy. Great time at this restaurant! I'll be back to try more items.

This is my new favorite pasta in Chicago! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've been wanting to try it for so long because it looks so pretty with all of the flowers outside and the unique design inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But the food blew me away. Plus, service was great, friendly, and super attentive. My only complaint is that they kept refilling our water but charged us for it on the bill. Regardless, would definitely recommend and will be back.

Found this place off the beaten path of Fulton Market. Very good meal. My friend and I enjoyed every dish we tried and would def come back. The pasta is fresh and delectable. I recommend getting the bruschetta! So fresh. Yum!

No matter what you do... GET THE GNOCCHI. It was literally the most fluffy Gnocchi I've ever had and I still dream about it. The service was amazing as well and really loved how I didn't have to ask for anything. She was very on top on it all. The ambiance was cute but nothing over the top. This isn't a fancy place though I would have expected more for a west loop location. Lastly, I gave 4 stars rather than 5 because of the presentation of the dishes. They need improvement. I want to be wowed when my plate arrives at the table and feel like what my eyes and taste buds are seeing match! Overall, a great meal!

We were seated at a high top and were told the dining room was unavailable. We watched a couple before us get seated in a booth by the music that didn't have a reservation. A bummer to see as it was a birthday and we come here often. We did get switched to the dining room after talking with another hostess. Sadly the hostess was unfriendly. The food is still amazing. The ceasar salad is truly the best in the city! First time trying the meatballs and I loved these too. My bf opted for a parm crusted fillet and I tried the macaroni! The dozen oysters were terrific and the Caesar Salad was made table side. We shared the perfectly prepared Branzino and then dug into the pastas. The Rigatoni Carbonara and Macaroni Alla Vodka were delicious. We finished with Gelato and Sherbet. It was my birthday and they brought a Tiramisu with a sparks shooting candle. In fact it must have been birthday night because there were flaming candles all over the restaurant. Elias was a terrific server and added to our enjoyment.

The design and decor of Rose Mary is stunning, with tan wood tones and minimalist style creating an airy and warm atmosphere. Service is warm and casual. All good things to start. The drink options are a huge highlight here, with some really fun and balanced cocktails like the Saffron spritz and the Rum Coconut #2. After that, we opted for the Grgich Zinfandel, which paired well with most of our meaty pastas. It wasn't as oaky and vanilla forward as some other Napa options are, but I don't think you would really want that for most of the food here. It was cool to see how dedicated they were to fusing Croation and Italian influence into the wine list, even down to our Grgich wine, which despite the Napa location was a Croation family vineyard. Okay, drink digression over. The fusion of Italian and Croatian styles is a really fun twist. As an Italian, I can occasionally fall into the trap of traditionalism, but I am happy to report that the flavors work very well together. A huge shout out to the pasta station, as the tortellini, gnocchi, and rigatoni were all excellent! Between those pastas, the tuna crudo, and the zucchini fritters, the start of the meal was truly excellent. Unfortunately, the middle and end of our experience was lacking and somewhat spoiled. It started with us finding a shard of long plastic in our gnocchi. The server apologized and stated that sometimes the deli containers break and it's hard to notice. I didn't love that response, but I get that it can happen. The more annoying thing that came from this is the miscommunication: she offered for us to select another dish and we told her we would think about which one. What was not stated is that she would also bring out another pasta to make it up to us. While the pasta was excellent, we ordered another dish without knowing we had a pasta on the way. However, that miscommunication was followed by overly salted branzino and an equally salty kjufte skewer. The thinner portion of the branzino, which my wife ate a bit of before stopping, was so salty that she was uncomfortable and drink two full glasses of water. She said that she couldn't get the salinity out of her mouth. I was hoping that the skewer would be better, but it was similarly salty and I couldn't finish it. Our server stated that sometimes they were heavy handed on the salt, and I think that's an understatement based on our experience. It was a rough ending to a meal that cost over $300 and sadly all of our conversation shifted away from celebration and toward how uncomfortable my wife was after trying to eat those two final dishes. We also couldn't finish our wine, as our palates were blown out from all that salt which made drinking experience pretty poor. It was a disappointment given that we dropped $90+ on that wine. I'd like to come back and give them another shot, but I'm somewhat apprehensive since it's an hour to 1.5 hour long drive for us to get there and it would be an expansive gamble considering the cost of a garage parking spot. If you live closer, I hope you do give them a try and I hope that the meat station shows some restraint. I would still encourage people to try the pastas and appetizers, and I hope that this feedback gets back to the crew so that they are aware. I would hate for others who are celebrating to have a similar experience to us, especially since the rest of the team clearly has their dishes dialed in.

There were plenty of reservations so I figured the place had a variety of seating options and was large. Both were the case. Large place with clean designs and dark accents, Things started out with weird energy from the hostess station when we checked in. There were two girls there - one smaller and darker hair who was nice and friendly, and the other a blondish haired girl who gave off some incredible "what are you doing here" energy asking if we had a reservation. She genuinely looked disappointed when I said we did and gave our name. Really weird. Anyway - we were sat at our table and an army of guys came and switched out glasses, gave refills, and plates etc. However, our waitress was there for the ordering, then at the very end. A manager type came to get our refills which took forever and in one instance came all the way from the bar dropped off by the bartender (it was an iced tea) We started with one of the four pizzas that had little to no normalcy in terms of ingredients. We ordered the mortadella which came with fennel sausage, (over the top name for broccoli rabe), and cheese. Main issue with this was the broccoli rabe on it also included the stalks. Had to pick those off bc they were inedible. For my entree I ordered the rigatoni carbonara which was outstanding - really liked the silky consistency of the sauce- a lot of times carbonara sauces get gritty and separate. This place did it right. The [bacon] was crispy yet tender. For dessert, I got the pistachio cream cake. It was ok. Overall, it was ok. The entree saved things, if I were to return I would hope to see our waitress more, not have to wait for a refill to come all way from the front of the house by the bartender, and to not have the hostess treat me like I didn't belong immediately walking in the door. I would seriously recommend relocating that person to another department in the business.
