    Seasonal dish, Pappardelle all'Anatra
    Mabel S.

Warm familial atmosphere, fresh pasta, deep flavors, and an adorable storefront where people take parta making classes. There's a light casual feel because you order at the counter, but table service is still on point and prices match the white table clothes. I've walked past many times wanting to stop for dinner but they're often packed. It's first come first serve. So we lucked out with an impromptu dinner on a cold rainy evening. The heaters were on in their outdoor patio so we sat outside which can be quite romantic if you don't mind the squeeze. I most enjoyed the seasonal duck pasta (Pappardelle all'Anatra) and the focaccia with ricotta and honey; although their classic Tagliattelle Tina (popular dish denoted with a heart on the menu) was hearty and rich. Truth be told, we selected our dishes based on what we could not so easily recreate at home. And we were not disappointed!

Tortello is another spot that's been on my list for way too long. This casual spot offers freshly made pasta in house. They don't take reservations so it can get quite busy inside. You order at the counter and then find a table. This place is a great choice for a date or just a casual lunch or dinner. Inside of the restaurant is very cute. They offer pasta making sessions in the front of the restaurant. They have their products for sale as well as the fresh pasta on display. I wanted to get something I haven't tried before so I ordered the Chiusoni alla Gallurese. The saffron is what really makes this dish. Very very delicious! And the pasta was the perfect al dente.

I saw this restaurant on the Food Network and thought the Chef was incredible so I have been following them on social media. I wanted to try this out with my family before I registered for the pop up event this coming Tuesday and this place is as good as hyped!!!! Great vibe. Superior service. The food is great.

Tortello is a great local and chef driven restaurant in Wicker Park. They have great Italian ingredients and you can watch authentic pasta being made. All various different kinds and shapes of pasta. Offering daily pastas as well. A great patio setup for those great weather days in Chicago. Whether day or night you will be amazed by the quality of pasta that is served here.

Fast service but unfortunately was disappointed in my pasta. I got the pomodoro and while the pasta was fresh and a great texture, the sauce was incredibly thick and sweet. Definitely needed to be thinned out and needed way more spices.

I had heard such great things about this place and came for my birthday. Unfortunately the experience did not live up to it. You order at a counter and then seat yourself, they bring your food as it's ready. Well we ordered and sat. And sat. The people next to us who arrived well after us got their food before us. No sign of food, and already had paid for the entire meal, tip included. Finally I say something and they had no order coming up for us. So after 30 minutes of no service, and having to remind the staff, we got our food. We started with the meatballs and they were tender. They were moist and loaded with herbs. For entrees I got the Tagliattelle Tina and Cacio e Pepe. First to say the noodles were excellent for both dishes - you can tell they are house made. The Tina was loaded with parmigiano reggiano and melted in my mouth. The Cacio e Pepe was simple yet effective - a balanced dish. For dessert I got a Tiramisu and espresso. I really wasn't impressed with the Tiramisu. The lady fingers were too soft and it was boozier than it should be. The espresso was solid though. Overall at their core, homemade pasta, they do a great job and have talented chefs. But unfortunately their service is lackluster and for how much they charge, it should proper service not counter ordering. Their desserts were just okay as well. I'd only recommend getting their pasta but there are other places in the city i'd celebrate an occasion or date night with homemade pasta/italian.

Dare I say, some of the most delicious handmade pasta in Chicago? The line looks intimidating but it goes quickly, but the wait at your table takes a bit too. In total we waits about an hour for our food to arrive on a Friday early dinner (20 min in line and 40 min at the table). The system is you wait in line to order at the counter and then a staff member will get you to an open table (indoor or outdoor). The outdoor patio space they created is quite nice too - a smidge cramped but it works. It's more casual, but the quality is upscale and the price is very reasonable. The staff were pretty friendly and efficient too! We started with the espresso martinis which are more sweet and creamy than spirit-forward, but was tasty. For the pastas - all were cooked perfectly, that exact soft/al dente middle spot. My rankings include: 1. Signature Tortelli di Burrata 2. Squid ink bucatini with prawns 3. Paccheri all' Amatriciana 4. Cavatelli al Pesto I think the menu changes seasonally, so looking forward to coming back!

I came here on a Friday around 12:30pm. We could not make a reservation and it was an order at the counter service. I went with my partner, overall good pasta, al dente of course. We started with the focaccia and ricotta with honey. It was sweet but a delicious combination. I also got a glass of wine but it wasn't given to me so I had to ask for it from the person passing the food / expediting. I got the Aglio, olio e peperoncino, it had chilis and cheese with olive oil. It was good, simple but good. My partner got the Cacio e Pepe which he says was tasty and better than most food on Division. He also got a macchiato which he also had to ask for because it was not delivered. It's pretty good pasta.

Hands down some of the best pasta in Chicago. I always get some extra to go and am waaay full after the meal. Bring friends who are out of town here or heck just come out with your locals. Worth the $$ for sure. Try the special!

What a wonderful idea that reminds me of great restauran in Rome Al42. The idea of fresh made pasta and few perfectly made choices of sauce is awesome. We take classic Bolognese and Papardelle baked with duck, both were absolutely delicious. Myself I would add a little bit more saltiness to the Bolognese pasta but other than that pasta was made al dente and the sauce was classic. They also serve variety of anti pastas and the olives were great. I like the idea of having a carafe of house wine with affordable prices as opposed to some places charging fortune for a wine. When leaving you can get some Italian specialties from the restaurant . We cannot wait to come back and try more!

Was the food good? Yes, yes it was. This place makes their pasta from scratch and that's always a great thing. However, the fact that it was an order at the register spot but still cost what it did, not to mention the slightly curt behavior of the cashier when I was, admittedly, asking for suggestions for my order, made this place lose it's shine for me. Cool neighborhood and the food was really good also, but it's a one and done for me.

I've wanted to try more Italian restaurants around Chicago, but so many are open for dinner only, and I'm usually around the city in the early afternoon. Tortello is open by noon on most days, so this makes them a more amenable option. Their more casual dining approach where you order at the counter keeps this a more simple experience. The prices are not as cheap as you would expect for this type of dining and somewhat small portion sizes, but the flavor was top notch. Our first time dining there, we were asked to move over to a smaller table to leave room for any potentially larger parties. Not a problem, but the tables are all small and able to be configured into a 2- or 4-seater easily, so they could've just scooted the table over and made space. That larger party never came, and we were moved to a seat where the radiator dripped on me. Unideal.

Don't let the portion of the food and length of the menu fool you! Loved every bite of the tortelli and the caccio e Pepe.. you can taste the difference with their handmade pasta. So light and fresh. The Focaccia was soft and so fragrant, not at all greasy with ricotta and honey as a dip. To end it the meal, nothing could beat a limoncello and a fresh tiramisu. Absolutely heavenly. I will dream about this meal just so i could relive my experience in their cute cafe-style restaurant! Since they don't take reservations, i recommend you arrive for a brunch/early lunch to beat the rush over the weekend.

I would say it's a romantic setting, a bit dark in the restaurant. Us old folks needed the table lamp to read the menu better. The wife wasn't impressed. Not sure about the younger folks. We shared a bottle of Classico Chianti, Montescondo which was very good. Boyfriend had the braised beef short rib. He seemed to enjoy it. The potato chips the dip came with were massive, fantastic, ruffle cut slices. Dip was good, trout roe ($18) gave it that extra pop of flavor. Our favorite dish of the night was definitely the beef tongue, so tender and balanced with textures and acidity. Mains were: Pappardelle (mushroom and carrot ragu) - I liked this best out of the three pastas, pasta was very tender. Cappelletti (beef, celery root fonduta) - felt a little under al dente in the sections where it was pasta pressed against pasta. The beef filling was on the average side, a simple, braised beef. Strozzapreti (duck bolognese + parm reggiano) - pasta was cooked perfectly, but the sauce leaned salty. Our half chicken arrived once we were finishing the pastas. Juicy and tender, with the fat/skin rendered out nicely. The sauce was good, but felt the chicken itself was lacking seasoning/flavor. The remaining duck ragu came in handy for extra saltiness. Finished the meal with the terrazzo cheesecake, and gelato scoop trio (roasted vanilla, peanut butter cookie dough brownie, and frutti di bosco sorbet). Cheesecake was light and wiggly, definitely contained some gelatin and cubes of strawberry jello; not too sweet. I enjoyed the peanut butter gelato the most, was very tasty mixed with the sorbet to make a little pb and j concoction. They also gave a little slice of chocolate cake as we were there for a celebration. Overall, appetizers were a hit, with the dessert coming in second, and entrees following thereafter. Was ~$240 w the included 25% service fee between 3 people. The food feels like 3.5 stars as the food was inconsistently good across courses, but the service/ambiance pushes it to a 4. If the pasta bowl has no fans, then I'm dead. My girlfriend and I frequently order the 'dinner for…read moretwo' special on doordash, and we are more than satisfied each time we've ordered it. I've tried nearly all of the pastas at this point, and they are all delicious, and the portion sizes are humongous. You could get 2-3 meals out of their portions. The strawberry walnut pear salad is one of THE MOST delicious things i've ever eaten. I'm a glutton, and NEVER go for a salad, but this salad is insane. The ingredients always taste super fresh. I could eat POUNDS of this salad. I love you, Pasta Bowl.

HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE PORTIONS OH MY GOODNESS!!…read more What an affordable pasta shop, and the food is DELICIOUS! We got the farfalle pollo which is grilled chicken with sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, cheese, and house cream sauce. This was like the perfect marriage of subtle tomato tangy flavors with creamy goodness. The tomato infused into the sauce helps cut through the rich sauce, and the sundried tomatoes add a nice texture. We also got the pesto linguine and added shrimp for $4. This was on the creamier side for pesto, but still absolutely spectacular for the $16 price (before shrimp). I just can't imagine finding a giant bowl of pasta for much much cheaper than this, and in such a vibey area in wicker park too. Our waiter was sooo kind and the service was super efficient too. I also liked the slightly old school vibe with four TVs playing different shows and movies, such as a Bob Ross painting tutorial.

I had no idea what to expect other than hoping for as great of an experience as the reviews I read…read more I was a little apprehensive about it being at someone's home instead of a restaurant or business, but it was probably even better I set this up for a work team bonding event. We ended up being only 5 minutes late, but Chef Titik was so welcoming. The only thing should have been a disclosure about having pets and potential allergies. She made us a welcome drink which was very tasty. She told us a little about herself and experience as a chef. We learned so much inclusive of knife sharpening techniques to how to properly cut fruits and vegetables, putting together seasoning, tips and tricks, and some facts about food. She even took photos of us and shared them. She made us feel like family at home having us over for dinner helping cook. It was such a memorable experience and so unique and perfect for my team. We all love food and travel so this is definitely one for the books. We all had a blast and would highly recommend.

I ended up getting the recipe emailed to me by the chef months later. I would still recommend Cozymeal and think their chefs are knowledgable (as was mine), hope this doesn't happen again and think it was a one off hiccup.
