i'm not sure why I keep getting reviews about this restaurant and how it's the best Chicago Tavern style pizza in the city, but I can definitely say without a doubt that this is not the best style pizza. It might be the fact that I ordered this pizza through Uber eats and the pizza arrived slightly cold, but I had a huge problem with the fact that the pizza was not cut all the way and was as thin as paper. There is more cheese on the slices of pizza than there were any sort of crust or dough. It felt like eating thin pieces of paper and just a slab of cheese right on top. The sausage and gardiniera made the taste pop well, but there is more pepper on the pizza and there was sausage which was pretty disappointing. We came because my husband had heard great things about it. IDK - maybe this place was great at some point but it wasn't on the evening we went. The service was uninspired, the food was mediocre, the restaurant was tired and the quality of most of what we had was not good. My husband and I ordered a salad to start (terrible all the way around) and a half pepperoni and half pepperoni and sausage pizza. The toppings were honestly so mediocre. Thinnest pizza I've ever had. Which means you get to enjoy more of the cheese and sausage. Which BTW is excellent. We also had the Pats special of mushrooms, onions, green peppers and sausage. Found this spot on instagram and we added it to our Itinerary. Considering Chicago isn't known for thin crusts we were kind of curious. Not sure what to equate their crust to but it's very very thin and crispy. I don't know if I'd call it crackery maybe? In any case, that's not really my preference. The flavor was pretty good in general but I didn't love the pizza as a whole. I'd say it's on the cusp of a high 3 or low 4 but to be more strict I think I lean more high 3. Am I being swayed by comparison though because we just had Pequod's the day before? Possibly, but I hope my rating is fairly unswayed like that. My other friends both liked it as well and it seems like they enjoyed it more than me. Considering how thin the pizzas are it still takes a bit for it to come out. It wasn't busy when we first came so I can't take that into consideration. I can say though that a ton of people came after the baseball game so a lot of people must really like this spot. I like all the menu items I've tried. Pizza, pasta, what not. You can eat in or get delivery. As of this review they use their own delivery drivers and delivery goes very smoothly. It's a nice casual atmosphere for dining in, too. read more

And I mean awful, I never try to be negative and occasionally give kind and caring consideration and feedback but this was bad. Was left hanging for the majority of the dining experience, had to physically get up and almost pour my own water. Pizza tasted the same, thin crust and solid taste. Pat's, Pat's, what happened to you? What a disappointing pizza! The flavor was almost unbearably salty. No, not salty exactly...more like BRINY. Ugh! I ordered a sausage pizza, and the sausage pieces were so few and far between that I thought at first they'd forgotten to put any on. When I did find a piece of sausage, it was practically flavorless -- none of that delicious fennel flavor that Chicago-style Italian sausage usually has. And the edges of the crust were burnt black. This is such a great place to have some good pizza, Italian food, and appetizers for a good price! The inside is very cute as they have the place decorated with historic and current historical places. There is also a spot on the side so that you can pick up without going to the wait in the restaurant. We arrived at 7:30 pm on Saturday and were told it'd be a 30 minute wait. We stayed and got in about 15 minutes later. They were very busy so the host came in to check in with us if someone got our order. We did appreciate that. We ordered two appetizers (baked goat cheese for $11 and fried calamari for $11.50) and the scallops with pesto sauce pasta ($21) and a 14" pizza with pepperoni ($16.90 + $3 for a topping). We enjoyed our food very much. We would probably skip the baked goat cheese but the calamari was delicious, hot, and not for a crazy price. We were also impressed with the scallop pasta as it came with 9 scallops. I have never seen that. It was perfect for us to split and have a good amount of scallops to eat. For the pizza, it was delicious! Probably one of my favorite in the city! I am a big thin crust person too. The crust is crunchy and just the one topping was perfect. We admittedly found this place from social media and us, being connoisseurs of thin crust, pizza, we headed over. It was a weekday and it wasn't too busy and we ordered the Ceaser salad that was probably the best Ceaser of all time and that that's a bold statement, I know but it's worthy of this title. My son had to be different and it's his lil spaghetti with tomato cream sauce, again, you might already know what's I am going to say, absolutely delicious. I will 100% be ordering from them again. (We ordered delivery, through Uber as this is the only one that could go to our address, but the price was about the same.) This has been my favorite thin crust in Chicago so far. I really liked the veggie and will do that one again. The BBQ chicken was good, but had marinara with bbq so a little different from the usual. Catching up on Yelp reviews as I visited Pat's Pizza back in August. I arrived around 6:30pm on a Monday so it wasn't very crowded and I was able to get seated immediately. Pat's has an awesome Italian vibe inside. Pat's has been on my list for a long time and I have never gone because the only time I am in the area is for my dentist teeth cleaning, which is right across the street. So I finally pulled the trigger and I was certainly glad I did. Pat's is one of the OG Chicago Tavern style pies. I ordered a medium sausage pizza. Paper thin crust with a good amount of flavor. Super crispy. So crispy that there is pretty much zero grease. Sauce is sweet, which I like. However I wish it had a tad more sauce for a better sauce to cheese ratio. The sauce should have been a 8 if there was a tad more sauce and a bump into my top ten pies beating Spacca Napoli. I see why this is definitely rated as one of the best Chicago tavern style pizza in the city. Service was solid and it was about $20-$25 for the pizza and $6 for the beer. Finally a waiter came (after we asked @ 751). We were told by host that the waiter was new, but we saw he was very attentive to a table of 6 that were there already seated and serve. I grew up on the southside eating at some of the best thin crust pizza joints in the city (Vito & Nick's, Palermo's, Obbie's, Vince's, etc) and Pat's sizes up every day of the week. The employees make you feel like family and they make sure you're taken care of when you come in. Everything from the cracker crust, to the sauce, to the fresh toppings are perfectly executed. Heard about Pat's from social media about being a go-to tavern style pizza in the city. This classic pizza spot is a family owed and known for a cracker thin crust. I stopped in for a Saturday lunch. The inside is very old school decor with a decent amount of seating. Our group ordered a round of beers as well as (1) 16" sausage pizza and (1) 12" cheese pizza. The pizzas took about 15-20 min to cook. Undercarriages were inconstant with baking level: sausage more cooked than cheese. The crust is cracker thin with small air pockets. I personally wish there was more sauce under the cheese but it all pooled up by the crust. Either way the pizzas had good flavor; especially with toppings. Pat's is on my list of best pizza spots in Chicago! The thin crust was one of the best I have ever had in my entire life! I will say the fried calamari was on point, fresh and the Marinara that came with it was very tasty! The artichoke palm made me was to keep eating more as the sauce it came with had excellent taste.
