Tbh very good, love that you can get however much of whichever pizza you want, lets you try a bunch! They were very yummy - especially the crispy onion and hot honey chicken, those are unmissable. The spicy eggplant pizza was also good. Would definitely return and try more kinds
Love that they have vegan options!!! Went in for a quick bite to eat and found multiple vegan options ready to eat--they had the spicy eggplant, spicy arrabbiata, potato rosemary, and mushroom Rosa. Everything was sooo delicious! We didn't try to spicy eggplant but will need to next time. They don't have vegan cheese but honestly, they don't need it.
Outstanding. I got it delivery, and it was really good. I tried the pepperoni, the sausage, and the plain cheese. All were very tasty. The crust has a nice chew to it, and a crispy outside. The sauce is flavorful without being overpowering. The toppings were of very high quality, and were seasoned to be very flavorful. It was no boring pepperoni or sausage like you might normally find on a pizza. The toppings ingredients were really elevated. Really great pizza, and I hope to eat there in person some day.

Great for a quick lunch or snack. Price a bit steep.. my slice was around $7. But it tasted good and was crispy after they heated it. I would come back.

This pizza place is the best in Chicago! Limited seating but cool chic vibes with the wooden decor and bottles with sit down stools at the wooden slab. I love the idea of trying different pizzas and seeing it made fresh. The service was quick and the guy was great about giving me what I want. Overall I will definitely be returning and wished there were more locations! You always have room for this pizza even after a meal!

I was looking for vegan options which they did have, unfortunately they do not have vegan cheese but honestly, they were pretty good without it. You get to pick the size of your own slice. y two options were delicious and my sister enjoyed her as well. We were a little bit confused on how it worked, but the employees were able to help us!

(W)ow - They have a great variety of square shaped Roman style pizzas (rectangular pie with thin crust) and it's fun to watch how they heat it up in front of you. Very relaxed atmosphere. (A)ge - young working adults usually grabbing takeout (M)enu - The meatball ragu pizza is delicious and they get the bottom so crispy. It's awesome how fresh and hot the pizza is served, but mind you it kind of takes a while to heat up so be prepared for a wait.
just wanted to change my review to the 5 because I tried the spicy eggplant again and it was very good, not undersalted at all. I also tried the lemon zest zucchini ricotta and the potato pesto, both were great. bonci is still super affordable and I'll be back lots :)
I travel frequently for work and the plethora of cable travel/food shows fills my "To Try" bookmark list with cool dining possibilities I can refer to when I'm looking for an interesting and good dining experience. "Chef's Table" (Season 2 / Episode 1 -- on Netflix) furnished me with the perfect easy/quick "To Try" lunch spot today in Chicago. That episode is about Gabriele Bonci, a famous chef and television personality in Italy, die to his pizza al taglio style pizzas. I know what you're saying, "you said you were visiting Chicago." Well, Chef Bonci happens to co-own 3 Chicago-area pizza restaurants with an American partner and I was pleased to see one of them is a short, seven-minute walk from my hotel. I'll be honest. If it weren't for the show -- and the Yelp reviews -- I probably would have walked past Bonci and not seriously considered it. It's rather drab/plain looking outside and in. It definitely doesn't look like anything special. But I knew I would be in for a treat from watching that show. Don't get me wrong, I found it to be comfortable enough and clean, and the staff is super friendly! I'm just saying there are no frills. But don't go to Bonci for the ambiance (or cocktails, this is a sparking or still water and few soft drinks kind of place) No, GO TO BONCI FOR THE PIZZA!!! The pizza was as delicious as I expected. And my expectations were high. They had so many (good) choices, with rotate daily as I understand it. The staff will answer your questions about the traditional choices (pepperoni, for example), and not traditional (potato & cheese, for example). Then you get to indicate how much of the rectangular pizza or pizzas you'd like them to slice off for reheating. When the reheated, hot pizza comes out of the oven they'll slice it into convenient easy-to-eat squares and hand it over. I was in a "traditional" mood today. I had just one type of pizza. Pepperoni, my personal favorite. But this was the tastiest pepperoni pizza I've ever had. I'll be in Chicago two more days and I strongly suspect I'll head back to Bonci, and be a little more adventurous with my pizza choices.
I love being able to try many pizza options and have little slices, adding up to a reasonable price. The service is great too, with great attention to their customers ordering. The space is decent to dine in and they have an outdoor seating too. The wait was maybe five minutes to have the slices weighed and then heated up. It's not your typical American style pizza. Yet likely healthier.
I absolutely love Bonci. They have locations in Italy and Chicago! I have only been to the Fulton Market location- service was good and the food was delicious. Plenty of meter parking outside and as an fyi - Bonci are cashless! This location is a little narrow inside but there is plenty of seating. It has a casual vibe and rustic decor. The staff were friendly and let me know what pizzas were vegetarian and vegan. You can visually see what pizzas are available for the day and pick and choose what you want to try. The pizza is cut by a scissor and you are charged by how much it weights. Believe it or not my whole board cost 13 bucks. They have plenty of vegetarian options. The potato and cheese and classic Margherita were my favs. But, I also enjoyed the spicy arrabbiata and mushroom pizza. The crust was amazing and holds up really nicely and you can tell all the ingredients are fresh.
They were quick to get us our food, they had a lot of options and the pizza really hit the spot! I'd stop back for a quick casual bite. Keep in mind that the seating is bar style only and there won't be tables for large parties. read more

This was truly the best pizza spot I've stumbled upon! My friends and I randomly found upon this spot as we were walking around looking for lunch. We were intrigued by all the variations of toppings and the ability to customize how much of it we wanted. We got 4 different pizza toppings and they were all delicious! I loved how thin the crust was, yet how flavorful everything was. I wish we had it again before we left, but definitely a place I need to stop by when I come back to Chicago. The service was quick and friendly. There was some seating outside available, but many people take it to-go. read more

Loved the concept of pizza by weight. They had a lot of options which gives us the ability to try a few things. We had the blueberries and sausage, potato mozzarella, and suppli. Each item gets heated up in their oven and the suppli gets re-fried. I thought the pizza was alright, had a nice bite to it but felt that it was lacking in flavor. The ambiance inside was nice and they have a small outdoor space. read more
I always like to give pizza places a second try and driving by the one in Lincoln Park yesterday, I stoped in for a couple squares. Much better this time around. Had the meatball and tried the prosciutto. They were both good. The prosciutto was a little on the greasy side but had a nice crunch this time. Interesting options in terms of toppings. At least 10-12 different pizzas there and what I had definitely hit the spot. Grazie read more

I stopped at Bonci for a quick bite before a show at the United Center. It can be tough to find a place open on a Monday, so extra points for that. The branding and interior is quirky and inviting with a large selection of Roman-style pizza. They have indoor and outdoor seating when weather allows. I was happy to see they had a couple of vegan options (from my understanding there will be at least one every day). You select your pizza and the worker uses scissors to cut a rectangular slice, sized to your liking. It's then weighed and you pay by the pound. I appreciate that if you just want to try a little bit of one kind, this method allows you to without paying for more than you want. I had the Mushroom Rosa and Arrabiata (both clearly labeled vegan, which I love). They tasted really fresh and the crust was chewy and crunchy. Bonci is a quick and delicious place to grab a fancier slice of pizza! read more

This fast casual place has great Roman style pizza! It's thin crust and delicious. Worth a visit. They have pre-sliced pizzas at the counter with a wide variety of toppings and will heat the pizza up when you order. I tried the arrabbiata which had a spicy tomato sauce. It was so good, you can tell they use high quality ingredients! I wish I had tried more, all their pizzas looked amazing read more
This is the kind of place where they warm up the pizza when they serve it. So it is not fresh. The pizza is still pretty good with the fact that it's not fresh! I am not sure how long they have the pizzas out on the display but I hope they change it everyday. Again, still tastes good! It's a very small space so finding seating is hard. I would definitely come back if I'm in Fulton market and want a quick bite! read more

genius concept - pay by weight and custom cut slices so you can get a little bit of everything! the staff were helpful and nice and everything I tried was great, it was tough to decide but I did hot honey, cacio pepe, sausage and mushroom, and four cheese. I feel like this would be a great place to get pizza to share with friends or for a party. I wish they had this back home! read more

Bonci is my FAVORITE pizza spot in the city, hands down. With the only other location being in Rome, you know it's going to be good. Their unique oven creates the perfect crust and the toppings are so fresh and delicious. I love that they cut however much you want, and charge by weight and warm it up so you can try as many different pizzas as you want! Every single pizza I've tried here has been good. The zucchini and whipped ricotta and the spicy eggplant are some of the best. The servers are very friendly, and they have some hightop seating. Would go here once a week if I lived closer! read more
This is one of my fav pizza slices in Chicago. It remembers me from " Alice " in when I was living in Rome . I discovered this place last summer after a Yelp event and since then everytime I'm in the area I'll pass by to grab some slices of pizza. Was a nice surprise to see that Alejandro it's still there . He's super nice and helpful. And the manager Ashely she's really great. Love that they have this tap water on the side of the place where the people they set like that you can serve yourself how many time you need in case you're trusty lol. It's also a patio so it's perfect for any time of the year if you want to stay inside or out. So if you ever pass nearby this pizzeria don't miss the chance to taste a slice or more of course of a real Italian flavor of pizza read more
One of my favorite pizza shops in Chicago and probably my personal favorite crust which has the most delightful crunch every time I bite. I enjoy every topping that I've tried but some people may be pickier or have stronger preferences. On the one hand, they always stay stocked on each topping so the wait time is quick. On the other hand, it's not made fresh which probably affects the quality if it's sat out long enough. Regardless, I don't notice and have intensely enjoyed the pizza every time. There's not much room for seating inside. So you and/or the group may have to eat outside or take it home. But this style of pizza that they cut into squares for you is very convenient to eat standing, inside or outside. Staff are always nice and helpful. read more

One of my favorite pizza places in town! They do Roman style where you pick how much you want and they charge you by weight. A great way to try multiple kinds! Have heard great things about any pizza with potato. Personally love the pepperoni. Be careful, you'll end up with a lot more than you realize! Staff is always friendly. Tasty pizza and a cool concept. I love the way that they literally just take a pair of scissors and you determine how much or how little you want. You can get a variety of pizzas or the same thing. Great for sharing. The patio was full but we weren't staying long so we just ate our couple of slices inside on the bar stools. Tried both the margarita and chicken parmesana pizzas. Both very tasty choices. I'd love to come back here again. read more

Freaking love this place! Originally I was gonna get Chicago pizza but I can't believe they have Roman styled pizza! I've been to Rome before so I was excited for this! Food - so much variety to choose from. You choose the type of pizza you want and pay by the weight. I can't even remember what I ordered but I did order 6-7 different types. Takes about less than 10 mins to heat up and it comes out so crispy and flavorful!! Service - easy to order, staff are friendly. Ambiance - cute little pizza spot. One of if not my fav place for pizza in Chicago! Absolutely love the look of the establishment, the pizzas are so fresh and beautiful in appearance and always so hard to choose which ones I want as they rotate flavors. Roman style pizza cut by a pair of scissors and weighed for how much you pay. I always seem to get enough for leftovers which are amazing room temp or cold :) It's incredible! Bonci himself would be proud of the job well done at this location. read more

The menu is what they have prepared for the day (what's on display). No made to order as far as I understand!

Yes! The spicy eggplant is vegan. The arabiatta is also vegan.
