Pastini Italian Restaurant truly made our day. It was our last lunch before saying goodbye to the beautiful town of Bend, Oregon, and it was the perfect way to end our visit. We were dining with our kids, who can sometimes be demanding, but the service was incredibly fast, friendly, and accommodating. The food was delicious, and everyone left happy. I also have to mention the wonderful outdoor setting. From our table, we could watch people walking, running, and riding bicycles along the path nearby, enjoying the beautiful Bend lifestyle. We got takeout today after a couple of disappointing meals in Sunriver. Would've preferred to eat there given the gorgeous patio view of the Deschutes, but kiddos were tired from mountain biking so we brought dinner to them. Ordered sautéed spinach to start, Bolognese, Carbonara, Shrimp Scampi and Chicken Fusili alla Roma (subbed with GF Ziti) and tiramisu for dessert. Pasta was fine - nothing stood out but flavor and doneness of pasta was good. Scampi was very lemon-y and GF pasta fell apart but at least the flavor was good. Really great. The place was spread out so you could move freely, it was clean, smelled WONDERFULLY. I looked at all the food as I was being seated and had no idea what to enjoy! Smiles, laughter, nice color pallet. The staff are amazingly talented! Fantastic. Everything was amazing except... The tails were left on the shrimp. It's very annoying to have shrimp tails on is a white sauce dish. Shrimp cocktail would be the only reason to leave it on. The basic rule in dining is "never place anything on a plate that's not eatable". Removing tails is part of food prep. It happens in lots of places, even high end plates. Part of prep is "get rid of the tail". But besides that... fantastic. 4 stars if tails were not on the shrimp. People say it's to keep it juicy. They say it's to not deform the shrimp while cooking. No, during prep, remove the tail shell. Never plate an item you can not eat. Love the place though. Definitely go there and enjoy each item; it's all so very good! read more

I love Pastini (I thought). But they failed miserably tonight. I ordered Spaghetti and Meatballs. Ordering out is a HUGE treat for me. I picked it up. When I got home, 15 min. later, it possibly the driest spaghetti I have ever had, sad. Sauce? None of that! Globs of something on top and three dried out meatballs. Pathetic! And $20! Food here is pretty yummy overall! They offer generous amounts of grated Parmesan on the side which is appreciated. My dislikes from this restaurant are simple fixes. The prices charged for their Side of Broccolini and Small Caesar Salad are hard for me to justify considering that the servings are very small and are made of basic inexpensive produce. Although pricey, they are tasty! I also really enjoyed the Fried Mozzarella but next time I order it for takeout I will request sauce in the side since it makes the dish soggy. Lastly, I hate to say but I've never had such bad Calamari Fritti. It's paper thin and some pieces you can't even chew through. Reminds me of the tough outer layer of an onion. read more

A mutual friend of ours whose family lives up here LOVES this place and insisted they go here multiple times years ago. Just enough time to go check out the riverfront and take a gander at the menu while the others were en route to meet us. Just about on time, we were seated and the terrific service continued in their comfortable dining room. Lots of seating options with tables, booths and hybrids, as well as patio seating outside. Glad we got an inside booth on this blustery fall eve! Food and drink were served with a smile by Jay. We got the Parmesan bread and shrimp scampi for starters, which were quickly gobbled up. Then, we waited another 20 for someone to come by with water and to take our order. That didn't happen either. Had to go to the bar, ordered wine and food. While waiting for a table I notices the Cocktail for a Cause sign on the hostess stand, I thought that was awesome. More places should do things like that. We were seated and our server Teah came over promptly and took our drink orders, and gave us some time to look at the menu. I ended up getting one of the Hot Honey Peach Margaritas and let me tell you, it was the best Margarita I have ever had. The flavors went so well together, such an amazing flavor profile. This drink 11/10. If your thinking about it - try it. It is not spicy for those worried about the hot Honey. We ordered the parmesan bread, the fried mozerella & a caprese salad to start. All were delicious. The parmesan bread is the perfect amount of soft and fluffy and crispy, I think it was made on some type of ciabatta roll. We also ordered the fried mozerella, which was similar to mozzarella sticks but more if a slice of mozzarella breaded and deep fried and served over mozzarella. And I am a huge fan of caprese salad so I ordered a small side. The caprese comes with both Roma and sundried tomatoes, absolute best sun dried tomatoes i have ever tasted. For our main course we had the spaghetti carbonara & the linguine pesto pollo. The Carbonaras flavor profile was amazing, the bacon was just the right flavor to tie it all together. The linguine was delicious, chicken cooked and seasoned to perfection. The whole dish came Toger nicely. Our group of 4 went to Pastini for convenience sake only given the so-so reviews. We were very pleasantly surprised on every level. The restaurant is good for both couples or families with kids. It is conveniently located in the Old Mill with plenty of close parking. Service was attentive and friendly. Both appetizers and all 4 entrees we ordered were delicious. We started with the fried artichoke hearts and calamari fritti. All of us are fairly health conscious, and were hesitant to order fried food, but it was lightly breaded and fried and did not have a lot of oil. Both were really tasty. The entrees were equally good... spicy shrimp fettuccini, linguini with shrimp scampi, cavatappi primavera, and the asparagus salad were all outstanding. Lots of restaurants to choose from in Bend. The husband had seen an ad on tv for Pastini so we decided to try it. We were there around 2 so were able to order from the lunch menu. We were with our dog so sat outside. Nice view of the river. Our server was Kellie. She was great. Very friendly and checked on us frequently. Started with housemade mozzarella sticks (more like a block) with homemade marinara. Done just right. Husband had pasta carbonara, said it was one of best he's had, even in Italy. I had fettuccine alfredo with added shrimp. Excellent. We both had Caesar salad as the side. Plenty of food. Dinner portions would have probably been too much! Dessert was a sundae we shared. Just right, not a lot of chocolate so it wasn't too sweet on a hot day, good vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and crumbled biscotti on top. Very tasty. It was a busy night in the mill district but this restaurant was not very busy, that should have been our first clue. We ordered the fried artichoke hearts with garlic butter sauce. The artichokes were cold too warm and the "sauce" was just some butter and garlic at the bottom of the dish that the artichokes rested on . We shared the baked ziti... It was again warm at best with a small amount of melted cheese on top. There was also almost no sauce... We had to ask for more and was charged for it. The sauce was good, the food wasn't awful but take the extra few minutes to make sure it's hot. Italian is about the sauce... Sauce it up. The wine and the service was good. read more

Let's start by saying I grew up in a restaurant and my husband served for a long time so we generally give a lot at restaurants. I wouldn't come here again. We sat outside on the patio with our little toddler, beautiful sunset. Food was delicious and the only saving grace. Manager had to take our order and serve us. Server walked by us many times, looked at us and bused the table next to us that no one ever sat at. One other table on the patio and they were pretty upset too. For me it was leaving us on the patio with our kid with the lights off for over 30 minutes in the dark that killed the experience. We asked 3 people to turn the lights on and it took that long. Just a big hot "NOPE" You ever been to a restaurant where you suspected every one was high? Yep, this is that place. While people were surface-friendly they were definitely distracted and spacey and VERY forgetful. We had to tell the host twice we wanted inside seating and were served the wrong food twice. All those interactions seemed to baffle the staff, as if we were trying to trick them. IDK, weird. The food was C to C minus. My wife had the shrimp scampi which had WAY too much lemon on it. The shrimp looked almost like tiny salad shrimp. The pasta was done just slightly over. I had the braised short rib ravioli. The short rib filling had the consistency of refried beans and was virtually tasteless. The pasta was overcooked. The mushrooms were raw and the sauce was watery. I left most of it on the plate. The place gets VERY crowded early, at least during an event night. Wait times kept going up and up. The tables arent bussed quickly. We had to sit next to a table with someone else's leftover food and dishes the whole time we were there. Several times someone came over and kinda sorta took a stab at cleaning it, but it only got done just before we left. So, the place just has a kinda dirty vibe to it. Kind of feels like an olive garden mashed up with a red lobster but with the class of a Sinclair Gas Station. Did I mention the seemingly stoned staff? Anyway, we wont return. Good luck! read more

Not sure why, but my last review was 2012 so time to update. YELP Short Answer: Definitely YES - great location, food, and outdoor seating. I don't give out too many 5 stars these days but did in 2012 and now again in 2023 because everything is done right... nothing incredible just correct. Location: Fantastic indoor seating with views of the River and Old Mill happenings. Nice large outdoor seating options on the river across from the amphitheater so they have some outdoor seating options during concerts, check with them first. Menu: Not a huge menu which makes it nice, simple is good. Food Prep: excellent, always no matter what dish it may be. Probably visited here 20 times since my last review, and every visit has been a lunch or early dinner and all prep has been the same, done with care. Food Quality: Very good, fresh, and cooked perfect. Libations: Yes they have a bar with a nice offering and fair prices. Waitstaff: Everyone is always nice and inviting, zero attitude here. Pastini was great! We had absolutely amazing service here. I ordered a drink and the server asked about my age. I mentioned to her that my birthday was the day before and she remembered and brought a little treat with a candle in it at the end of my meal. She honestly earned them a five star review because even if the food would've been horrible (it wasn't), she was so thoughtful and kind that I couldn't imagine giving them less than five stars. My meal was ravioli and my husband had lasagna. Both were good dishes. I had a mojito to drink and my dessert was the cookie with gelato. We were introduced to Pastini's by friends in Corvallis, OR. We were happy to learn that there is one in Bend, OR. The restaurant is located in the Old Mill District next to the Deschutes River. We knew that we were in the right place because we could smell garlic as soon as we got out of the car. I like the idea of Italian Inspired, locally Crafted food. We started with Parmesan Bread. As the menu says rustic baguette toasted with herb-garlic butter and Parmesan Cheese. The marinara was delicious. It took some self discipline to keep from devouring the plate before the entrees arrived. My wife ordered Braised Spare Rib Ravioli and I went with Spaghetti with Meatballs. My wife was closely guarding her ravioli; so, I was only able to steal a small bite. It was very good. My spaghetti tasted fresh with very good meatballs. The marinara sauce was the same that came with the bread. Next time I will ask for more because it was so good. The menu is on the small side and I want to try every thing on it.
