Place is such a rip off. Paid close to $30 bucks for two simple pastrami (slice bread, pastrami, and mustard) and one drink. They put only like two slices of meat on slice bread. Then they ask me if id like mustard and they charge me for mustard after !!!! Like are u serious!??!!! This place is a rip off!! You can get a much better pastrami sandwhich and more for your buck at a diner. I love this place. The quality of the food is excellent, the service is wonderful, and I love the music that they play here. It brings me back years ago when businesses used to care about the customer. I'm a First timer. It's a keeper. Cole slaw and pickles were brought to the table as soon as we sat down. Coleslaw was great, pickles disappointing ( the only negative thing I have to say) I had the 99; corn beef, pastrami, derma, and fries. Best derma I have had in a long time, served over barley with gravy. Pastrami was perfect, sliced thin. Corn beef I took home. My wife and daughter had the Canarsie; soup, half sandwich and fries. Turkey was very good, not dry. Corn beef was delish. The matzoh ball soup was terrific. Steak fries were perfect, hot and crispy. The place was busy, clean and well staffed. Ordered 3 Sandwiches ( one corn beef and two were combo of pastrami and corn beef) all 3 looked the same ( corn beef) . Additionally, I do not mind paying a high price for quality but the meat was dry and the sandwiches were quite thin ( I thought that when I saw them wrapped up as this was a to-go order). At $ 13.99 per sandwich they should be top notch. The macaroni salad and Cole Slaw were both very good. The 3 Knish were below average. I ran up there from East Islip after someone suggested the place and the reviews were mostly 4 or better. Needless to say I was very disappointed. Had a simply delightful lunch with my nephew and sister. My sister and I shared a piled high fresh turkey sandwich and a round knish. She chose to put the thousand islands dressing on it. I enjoyed it with the homemade cole slaw. Both delish. My nephew loves their hot dogs. He had two with a huge side of crispy wedge fries. Can't forget to tell you about their pickles. All three of us enjoyed them immensely. We also shared a piece of noodle kugel and it was heavenly with bits of fruit and vanilla overtones. Yum! This gimmicky-named place is located in the Giuntas/Foo Luck strip mall along Commack Road. Rest assured it's not progeny of some psychadelic children's tv show or a criminally successful line of 'educational' toys. I work nearby & always wondered why colleagues had never been, but learned when we looked up at the menu board & our eyes made their way to the numbers preceded by dollar signs. There were also no other folks there (doing takeout or dining in) during the lunch rush, but maybe that was just an aberration. The pleasant fella behind the counter served up a fairly tasty (albeit pricey) pastrami on rye with a couple pickles for lunch yesterday. We went in armed with a 10% off coupon from the local circular and still dropped nearly $10 for a decent product, which isn't anything to scoff at for a weekday grab&go meal. When we get a hankerun' for something we really want, we use our trusty YeLp app. Such was the case this past weekend when the mad Russian wanted some pastrami. Next thing you know, we were headed toward Commack. When we entered, we were seated right away and given a delicious bowl of pickles and some home made cole slaw that was to die for. Bonus points for excellent pickles. She had been really craving a straight pastrami sandwich and I like to live dangerously, and hence ordered a pastrami and egg sandwich. Add a little of their spicy mustard and you are in for a treat. The service was good. We were never rushed and made to feel at home. So I say to my Sous Chef, what do you want for dinner tonight? She says I don't want the usual, what do you have in mind? So I am watching Food Paradise Best Sandwich shops across America and see a clip from the recently announced closing of Katz's Delicatessen in Manhattan. You know the famous Harry met Sally place, kosher foods of the gods, deemed the oldest deli in America from the late 1800's. Hmmm, spicy brown mustard, cole slaw and pickles, Dr. Brown's soda, matzo ball soup, rye bread with pastrami and corn beef, and I announce out loud lets go to a Kosher deli. I quickly search yelp- current location and happen upon a place I never even heard of, Pastrami and Friends in Commack. I scan all the reviews, preview the pictures and say lets go. 25 minutes later we walk into the door and instantly see exactly what we were looking for, kosher dogs and knishes grilling in the window, deli prepared kosher side dishes smack us in the face, and we get a strong drooling smell of steamed corn beef and pastrami. Waitress says sit wherever you want, place is about 1/4 full, and we are excited. While scanning the menu bus boy brings a large bowl of kosher dill and cucumber spicy pickles, crunchy, salty, just delicious, and the perfect bowl of slightly sweet homemade cole slaw. We tell the waitress we are not ready to order and we dive into and start tearing apart the pickles and slaw like we had not eaten in days. Upon coming up for air my sous chef ordered the standard 1/2 pastrami sandwich bracketed by delicious light and deep tasting rye bread, with matzo ball soup and side of fries. I order the full pastrami and bologna sandwich with hot peppers which I could barely get my mouth over it. Before each bite I squirt a fresh dollop of the best spicy brown mustard I have had in a long time, and literally tears come to my eyes thinking how good this restaurant is and I didn't have to take a trip into Manhattan to get great Kosher food. As we are eating, the place just literally fills up with happy smiling faces, I scope out what I am going to get next, maybe the brisket, or a fresh turkey and chopped liver sandwich. I am happy, my sous chef is happy, on the way out we have this marvelous talk with the owner who tells us the history and passion they have at Pastrami and Friends. I pledge to return this week, and on the way out I say to him, wrap me up a square knish and potato pancake for dessert. We smile and part ways knowing we will see each other again. read more

After have gone to places such as Katz deli and Schwartz and eaten many delicious delis... I must say there is seriously something special about this place. It's the most simple food but it's so gosh darn good! For example tonight I just had a turkey/roast beef on rye with nothing on it except Russian dressing and coleslaw and it was literally perfect. My first surprise as I was walking up was realizing that Pastrami N Friends is a Kosher deli and restaurant. I hadn't realized that browsing through their listing. Regardless, I walked in and was immediately addressed at the front counter if I wanted to be seated or to order. I ordered roast beef and Swiss and was politely informed that the combination wasn't Kosher. So, I dropped the swiss and had the roast beef on a roll with mayo and pepper, with an order of fries and a Snapple. The roast beef sandwich was delightful, stuffed with a sizeable portion of lean roast beef. The sandwich came with two medium-sized pickles of my choosing -- I chose dill -- and the fries were meaty and not at all oily. I admit to suffering a bit of sticker shock as to the cost, but the entire lunch was perfect for my first springtime workday lunch in the heretofore cold and rainy Northeast. read more

I walked in with my family and started to feel cozy, but was soon unsettled by the rather steep pricing of their food. I did not know that knishes and half-sour pickles were in such dire demand. Well anyway, our orders were retrieved and some were yummier than others. My brother's potato pancakes and my grandma's kasha knish were awesome, but I've had better stuffed cabbage. It lacked any real flavor besides for being really sweet. Besides for these things our experience was enjoyable. We got to giggle about grandma's matzoh balls being way better (hey, they did their best) and toast our Dr. Brown's. All in all, I'd rather go to Zan's. read more

I love myself some Kosher Deli food, and this one is a keeper. This is the kind of place you go if you want food like your jewish grandmother used to make, even if like me, you didn't have a jewish grandmother. The food is comforting and delicious. The Matzoh Ball soup is unparalleled, sandwiches are overflowing, huge, and awesome. I had a sandwich consisting of Turkey, Pastrami, Cole Slaw, and Russian Dressing. MM. Who says you need cheese on a sandwich? this was great! My wife was somewhat unhappy that they used beef gravy instead of turkey gravy on her hot open turkey, but I think I actually preferred it that way. Your mileage may vary on that one. But if you're looking for comforting food straight from grandma's kitchen, this is a total must. read more

I went this past Saturday. Since it was raining decided not to go to Ben's Deli. So we went to Pastrami N Friends. I ordered a Pastrami Sandwich. My spouse Egg salad sandwich. French fries and we each ordered a soda. I asked for the not lean pastrami and the waitress said the "juicy" pastrami. I received the sandwich which was about half the size of Ben's deli pastrami sandwich. It was just ok. My spouse's egg salad was horrible. it was an egg sliced into about 12 pieces with mayo on bread. No celery, no pepper, no seasoning, bland and tasteless. The french fries were the worst. They were not what you expect from a deli. They were just regular frozen fries from any supermarket fried in oil. So we had 2 sandwiches a small fries and 2 sodas. The total was $47 and change!! $16 and change for a sandwich, NO WAY! What a rip off. I will NEVER go back to Pastrami and Friends. I will only go to Ben's Deli in Woodbury. It is worth the drive for good food at a decent price. read more

Before I get chastised: 3 stars only because I left with a huge hole in my wallet (approx. $22) for a sandwhich and soup...no drink. I went here on the recommendation of several people who share the same palatial interests as I do, and let me tell you....this was one of the best pastrami and corned beef sandwiches out there. Very little fat on the meat itself, and it's sliced so thin and perfect. The flavors were robust, and the Russian dressing on the sandwich was far from overpowering. I also ordered the chicken broth soup with a matzoh ball and that too was VERY good. HOWEVER....be prepared to shell out $45-$50 for a meal for two...no joke. My soup and sandwich alone came to $22 with no drink. I understand kosher deli's tend to be a bit more expensive, but I'd rather spend my hard earned money on a steak dinner or some amazing sushi. So, if you are willing to break the piggy bank for a sandwich, bring your business here. The staff is friendly and the food is great. But those prices...my goodness. read more

Amazing corned beef sandwich! The meat melts in your mouth, so so tasty. I got half brisket half corned beef on rye, both were great but I preferred the corned beef. We got matzoh ball soup and cole slaw as well. Soup was very good, much better than Ben's Deli in my opinion. Plus they are open till 9pm on Satudays which is a bonus!
