I called Pat Hamilton because her was refered. We settled on a price for a Hot Water Heater replacement. $1,600. This included the water heater. He was short on cash so I bought the water heater which was close to $1,200. After install he sent me an invoice for $1,900 $300 over the agreed upon price. When I arrived at my cabin after two weeks of completion, I had a strong Propane smell inside my house. My basement was also full. I opened all of the windows but the smell didn't go away. I could have blown up along with a major forest fire. He did NOT even tighten the main gas valve that was leaking into my place for two weeks. We had our water heater replaced by TM. It is a newer version and we thought it wasn't working. They came out to fix it, and it turned out to be operator error. ‍ We felt pretty dumb, but they were nice about it. Then, as we were here enjoying our cabin, we found a leak coming from under the kitchen cabinets. They couldn't make it out again that day, but came the next morning. Fixed a connection. Before the guy left, we found water on the floor in the bathroom. Turned our that the tube in the post thing, in the tank, was too short and would flip out, and be like a water wiggle inside the tank! He changed it to a longer one, we paid him and he left. Then, we didn't have much water coming from the kitchen sink. Called TM again, and they told us over the phone to clean out the tip of the faucet - the aerator. ‍ We now know more about plumbing, and hope we can go a few years before we have to call again. We needed a plumber for our elderly neighbor across the street from us. He had a leaking water valve in his bathtub, and a bad toilet, and a under the sink water heater. I had called Big Bear Plumbing and Heating before, but never gain. I had the Moffett crew come out and give us a price on all that needed fixed. No service charge! That was good. I called Tom Moffit Plumbing and got a truck out ot us really soon. but alas, it was not Tom but Pat Hamilton, who had recently purchased the business and an associate. They quickly assessed the problem, (too much hair down the shower drain) and they fixed the problem quickly. I called them again, but the phone number does not go through. I hope to get Pat's number again soon. Today, there are no plumbers available anywhere near Big Bear. 9/21/22. I called Tom because we received a letter at our home in Orange County from BB City Services regarding a "high meter read check". And our bill for a few months was $250!! Being in Orange County, I thought I need to drive to the cabin and possibly find a broken pipe between the meter and our underground shut-off valve. Tom was a hero!! He went to our cabin and found that the underground shut-off valve was not 100% closed. I requested he send me an invoice for his time. Twice he said "don't worry about it". They were very expensive compared to other estimates I received...Their estimate was THOUSANDS more than other estimates....The only reason I could see for the high estimate was their new trucks, fancy , pretty uniforms , booties and slick promotional sales materials, etc...Their plan was to get me to pay for what must be a massive overhead....I mean parts only can cost so much and it can only take a certain amount of time to do a plumbing job....They try to baffle with BS to explain away the cost discrepancy but it is simply just a plumbing job....Nothing baffling there..... I think they prey on people that think expensive means better.It May in some things but I do not think plumbing is one of them....They probably do a ok job... read more

These guys are the real deal! Called Tuesday to get two toilets replaced. Made an appointment for Thursday at 8:30. They showed up on time and did a great job especially considering the toilets were a different size than the ones being replaced so they had to do some carpentry work and carpet trimming. As this was under warranty from another contractor, he correctly recommended I contact that plumber to repair the problem. Call Sunday left message about a main water line leak. Received call Monday morning to ask when they could come by to see the leak and give a quote. I called Pat to come out to our cabin in Big Bear Lake to fix a leaky cold-side line in the bathroom vanity, because I couldn't be there to fix it myself (I live in Lakeside). He called when he got to the cabin and I let him in to do the job. He called back an hour or so later saying he fixed the issue and he was ready to be paid $150. When we had some friends up this past weekend, they told us about the kitchen sink not working at all. It's never done that before, so we called our handyman to go check it out. The handyman said he had to tear apart the kitchen faucet to remove a piece of plastic that was completely clogging the flow of water. Strange, because it worked fine when I left, and all of a sudden it flows zero water after the plumber works on the bathroom sink...and oh yeah, the handyman also said the f*cking bathroom sink was leaking! So we had to pay him to fix it! This is what we just paid Pat $150 to fix. This guy sucks, and when I tried calling him on the phone to ask about the stuff he supposedly fixed, he ghosted me. Late posting this but a week and a half ago I called for a shower valve to be replaced after being told by the home warranty plumber that the pipes for the shower were installed backwards. All that was needed was the shower valve had to be replaced and Pat the tech changed it out and all is well. He did have to come back to lube the stem but great service and followed up with a call. read more

My house has 50 year old galvanized steel drain pipes which apparently are quite corroded inside. This means normal content gets stuck inside the pipe and sometime builds up to completely clog the line. It really gets ugly sometimes. Called Tom Moffett Plumbing and they came out promptly. Very fast (here in 20 minutes) and reasonably priced. Had to have a cold water valve replaced on a Saturday and while he was here, he replaced the kitchen faucet. He accidentally did not turn the hot water valve on completely, but to his credit it was very stiff and felt open even when I tried to trouble shoot it that night. Called back the next morning, left a message. The ringer was off in our cabin; I just thought no one was calling back-my mistake. I was staying at a friends cabin in Big Bear and noticed a leak under the toilet. I called several plumbers, but since it was Saturday no one seemed to around. Called moffett Plumbing and spoke with a lady who said someone would be by within the hour. I wasn't holding my breath, but about a half hour later they showed up, fixed the leak (wax ring needed to be replaced) and were gone in about an hour. This review would have been much higher, if I were charged fairly for the work performed. Over $700 for a shower valve replacement that was easily accessed from the back of the shower wall through drywall. Only afterward was I was told that there is a "flat rate" of $650 (but still charged $700), plus I was charged additional for an hourly rate. So now over $825 for less than an hours work. If this were a tiled shower and access was time consuming, I'd understand the charge. I'm in the building industry and have a good sense of labor and parts, and I'm willing to pay for good service, but this is exploitative. read more

Garbage Disposal locked up, called...while they were very quick to respond, they are expensive for what was required. Plumber immediately let me know the motor was froze up & installed a new disposal (costs under $90 at Ace Hardware). It took him less than 20 minutes to install, a few minutes of that time he spent taking an unrelated call from his boss ...there were no clogs or additional parts required, I was charged $275. After calling Tom Moffett to ask for a breakdown of cost of the unit & labor (the receipt left with me did not include a breakdown) Tom said it depends on what extra parts or issues were included, he called me back after verifying with his plumber that there was no extra parts and no clogs etc., ...then Tom told me that $275 is their flat rate. If $275 is in fact their "flat rate" for taking out & replacing garbage disposal (1/2 HP), Tom should have known that there were no other parts or issues resolved. Expensive. read more
