I love this Indian market. I usually go here once a month on my way back home from Russo's. Street parking is usually easy to find and there is a lot behind the grocery store. I love all the frozen Indian food that I can find and their brand of frozen coconut is the best that I have found in the Boston area so far. The staff has always been helpful and the selection in the store is quite overwhelming. I also love the fact that they have my favorite Indian trashy magazines; I've missed them ever since I moved to Boston! The only thing I would change about this store is their snack section, they sell samosa/vadas/other Indian snacks. All of these snacks have been really bad and in most cases tasted like they had been left out all day (especially the vada). It would be great if they started selling dosa batter/cutlets/cooked food like other Indian stores that I have visited in the Chicago/Durham area. I also buy some vegetables from here that are specific to Indian cooking but usually it is hard to find good (i.e not bruised) vegetables here. Our first time shopping groceries at this store and it stinks. I found dead insect in idly rawa. Sooji and idli rawa has tiny mud particles. It sucks that such a huge grocery chain is selling under quality goods. read more

Good for spices and Lentils. Lately the vegetables look dry and not at all fresh.

As someone who loves Indian food, I could literally spend hours perusing the numerous spices, frozen and prepared South Asian foods in this store. I really stumbled on this place by accident, but decided to join the throng of weekend shoppers to check out the bounty crammed into the small stores. While it is a small space, the aisles and shelves are very well organized, making it very easy to find exactly what you're looking fore. The spices alone are an amazing deal. You can buy whole bag of cinnamon for a fraction of what most grocery stores would charge you for a tiny jar. I'm so glad that I stumbled upon this place! read more

Great place for Indian groceries and produce! Good customer service. Very eager to help when u cannot find something.

Some special products that you can't find anywhere else: almond milk with cardamom, and Kulfi ice cream amongst other things. Produce prices are decent, but specialty products of frozen dinners are priced above average. read more

Great selection. You have to check the expiry dates etc but for the most part this place is better than nearby competitors. Prices are very reasonable. Parking can be tight during day time( they have 4-5 spots in the back) but after 6 there is plenty free parking around. read more

Pretty pretty good. Produce is hit or miss, great spice selection though. Fresh Milk, sometimes have bogo deals. For better produce try Dehal Brothers. Fresh produce, and the latest adult Bollywood movies. Sandeep and Jeff are the best! read more

Great Indian store. Variety of spices,flours and grains are available in different size packets, all the vegetables are fresh and with reasonable price. Even items in frozen section are good. I almost go there every week to buy fresh goods :) read more

Patel brothers is a great Indian grocery store. I usually go in on Fridays or Saturdays once a month and stock up. They have an excellent variety of Indian produce. The freshness obviously depends on the day of the week. They usually get fresh vegetables and fruits on Fridays so everything is fresh when I go to the store. They have the largest varieties of brands and is the best place to shop. Check out their frozen food section for the largest varieties of frozen naans, paneer, vegetables and my favorite, large pack idlies and vada. Love it! Parking is not a problem because there are parking lots right behind the store. If you cannot find something you want, just ask one of the cashiers or the owner. They are very helpful. Is it a little congested, yes. They are working on expanding the store and in any case, this is not a chain store with big bucks. I love the prepared foods and have had no problems with it. The cashiers are efficient and helpful but they may not have specific customer training in American culture. They do not greet customers or talk to them a lot. In their defense, they are busy most of the time. It does not bother me because I know they are not really rude. If I need any information or help of any kind, they do provide the help or information. Usually, I follow up a visit to Patel Brothers with dinner at one of the local Indian restaurants. Patel has a decent selection of foods and prices. But, my problem with this store is far more serious than prices or selection: Health hazards. Just yesterday, I went and happened to glance upon the expiry date of a few namkeen nashtas (Indian snacks) and they were all expired. Not by one month, not by a week. A full three months expired and manufactured more than a year and a half ago. And it wasn't one product either because I found a total of five expired products just in one section. This scenario came up because these products had expiry dates to begin with whereas many, many products did not even have a date of expiry or manufacturing at all. As if that wasn't enough, I found the store very completely selling Maggi noodles. These ramen noodles have been banned in India and the USA since January and every store that sells them is well aware of this because these noodles contain dangerous levels of lead. So I would say that most of your Indian food needs can be met at this store, but you should be careful about what you buy. read more
