I have been a Patelco member since 1987. I have never had any issues with my money and/or any of their services. All the staff have been extremely nice! I don't understand some of the negative reviews. Today, my husband and I went to this Patelco location to get documents notarized. I remember Patelco gives free notarization to members. Alex Sanchez, Branch Team Lead, helped us with getting 6 documents notarized. Alex was so helpful from beginning to end! He was pleasant, helpful and patient. This branch has a friendly welcoming environment felt the minute you walk in. As the Executor, I've been dealing with some family estate issues and a problem with the estate. It was unable to be cleared up with the bank of the estate. I then went to Patelco in Brentwood and spoke with Mgr Shayna Rahimi, who helped me work thru the problem to completion. Very disappointed with Patelco. My daughter used her card on a gas station along the HWY 5 coming from LA to fill her tank just to find two more charges later one for only $5 for gas on the same gas station and a huge doordash charge that took all her savings due to the overdraft Patelco has in place. We disputed the charges and it took them only 48 hours to just denied them without any proof. I think it is time for me to remove my money market and checking accounts to a safer institution. I was directed to come into the branch to pick up new ATM card. Original ATM card was lost and had to get a replacement which meant new number. I had asked if I can keep the same number because I do a lot of online bill paying anyway, I went and made my request and waited in the lobby for about 10 minutes. The teller staff was really nice and mentioned that they just need to create it really quick and to just have a seat. Later a gentleman walked up to me and confirmed my identity and handed me my card. It was cracked and scratched but he had said "it's OK it's still works." I looked at him and asked, can you give me another one because this one doesn't look new and it has a lot of blemishes and scratches. He said it's fine it works perfectly normal when I asked to place get a replacement, he said it would take longer because I was already issued the card number to my account, and they would have to start all over again. As if I am an inconvenience to his time. he had other important things to do. I didn't like that and how I was treated and made me feel. Needless to say, this is not my frequent branch as I use the one in a Livermore next to my work. The staff and manager there are so much nicer and approachable. read more

Honestly, this latest incident was the icing on the cake. All we want to do is get all our money and close the account. The lines are crazy if you need assistance. The fact that nobody answers the phones after business hours or the weekend is unthinkable. With money in our account, the transaction was denied, which was quite embarrassing. Good CD rates, no monthly fees are few of the perks of being a Patelco member. The Brentwood branch is good, albeit fairly busy and sometime long lines. Patelco USED to be a great place to keep your money. I have not been able to deposit checks via phone for ages....used to be a great service. I have not been able to get into my bank account due to "password problems"....most of this is computer screw ups. Also, recently I was told "insufficient funds," which shocked me because I had over $40,000 in a savings and had always known that if I screwed up on my checking, they would automatically cover me with my savings. NOT. When you try to get ahold of a human being online, they tell you to call....make that call and then they give you a few choices of what you can get a robot to help you with....and, though there is no "none of the above" choice, they finally just hang up on you. Every time I have been in there and want to see someone about all of this, there is a line of people both waiting for the "desk" people and a long line for the "tellers." I have an appointment tomorrow to get the heck out of Patelco. Now, I need to find an old fashioned place that takes care of its customers. read more

Patelco as a bank in general, is kind to those who are just starting their credit-building journey. But outside of that, it's not worth the aggravation. They have money-transfer issues, routing glitches, and tech problems that shouldn't be problems anymore since it's 2023. We love Patelco. I went from BOA to Patelco before marrying my husband and I haven't looked back. But this location is not the fastest with slimming down its lines. Also not the best kept location, it has a unpleasant smell to it. I try to do all my banking online via the app rather than come into a location but at least once a year we have to come in. Since we moved out to oakley this is the closest location. Honestly it wouldn't hurt to renovate this location or at least get some air fresheners to combat the smell that is currently going on. read more

I really enjoy my visits at this particular location. The aesthetics are not too fancy. They have very standard office set up that includes the cubicles and metal file cabinets. It kinda gives me a prison office vibe. I would recommend that this location gets renovated as the surrounding businesses appear up to date. But they surely make up for the rural decor with their bubbly customer service skills. There is usually a small wait time ranging from 5-10 mins but that's due to the customer service. They engage you meaningful conversation, they remember your name (depending on how regular you are) and they educate you on new bonuses to the account. When I'm in the area I always make a visit. I am not a Patelco customer, I belong to another out of state credit union. I have used this location on several occasions since it is a Co Op location that can handle most transactions my out of state credit union can't provide. The service is good and deserves 4 stars. Why 3 stars then? We were considering Patelco for a home equity line of credit. Again, service was great. But it felt like a bait and switch. They offered a no fee HELOC loan but their automated valuation system was laughably low. Three other credit unions all came back at an automated valuation number more than $110k higher. Patelcos response was that their system is very good, has been used for years, and I can pay for a full appraisal if I don't agree. If it isnt bait and switch it's use of an incompetent vendor/service. For that reason I give the lending side of Patelco a 2 and they average out to a 3. read more

I joined Patelco in March of 2018 because of their great CD rates. My deposits were for two college accounts that stagnated at another local credit union. Once the deposits were made, I rarely need to go to this credit union, but when I do the teller line is terribly slow, and if you want to speak to a "Solutions Specialist" bring your lunch or pillow. Today I had a quick question, so I called the 800 number. 12 minutes on hold, so I hung up and called the local branch at 925.240.2800 and left a message. 30 minutes later I called the 800.358.8228 again, but could only stand the elevator music for another 10 minutes. Another call to the local branch, another message left. A fifth call to the 800 number, and I just hit 20 minutes on hold (it's playing in the background). Was 10/15/2019 a day off (a new federal holiday)I also used the app to send a message. I'm glad I only go to the branch every month or two. Customer service rating, zero stars. read more

You are a bank for crying out loud. I am sure you can afford to have the carpets cleaned at least. I'm seriously considering removing my money and closing my account because you seem to just not care at all. Does Quality Customer Service mean anything? Why should I feel safe with my money in your bank? I will say that the Tellers who have been there for the past few years, (about 3 of them), are wonderful. However, I've seen many come and go and sadly the high turnover has truly affected the service. Just identified a huge error / mistake / errors in their savings account transfer of funds process. On January 5, 2023, I had initiated a transfer of $3,xxx.00 from my Patelco savings account into my marcus.com savings account. I noticed that the $3,xxx.00 got transferred to " Share ******888-00" on January 6, 2023. There is a mistake on the transfer because I did not initiate the transfer to ******888-00 which appears to be another Patelco savings account. I need to dispute this transfer which was supposed to go to my marcus.com external account not to an internal account that I do not own. I do not have an account ending in ******888. This is a huge mistake. Lots of thoughts pop in my head, Could this be an internal fraudulent activity ? Patelco did email me confirmation initially just after I submitted the transfer request which showed the correct destination of my marcus.com savings account. However a few minutes later my Patelco Auto Alert sends me a notice that my transfers of the $3,xxx.00 from my Patelco Savings is being sent to a " Share ******888-00". On the following Monday, I called customer service and inquired about this. To keep a long process short, Tashae ( Member Experience Specialist ) did followup on this post and let me know that the *****88-00 is a holding account number. I did confirm that the funds did get transferred to my external bank on the following Tuesday. I am really grateful to Tashae who reached out to me and provide me a followup. It restores my confidence in Patelco as a reliable Credit Union with processes that have all been flawless. I think I jump the gun and panicked unnecessarily. read more

This is a small location in a shopping but you'll definitely find parking. There is a small waiting area with a tv for the kids. I went on a Monday around 4 so there was a long line. I had never came here but I've had this place for a while since I have a car loan through this bank. When it was my turn the person who took my payment was very helpful answered all my questions and did not rush me. I can see why this place has 5 Stars and I am definitely going to be opening a savings account with them. read more

Patelco offers great Money Market interest rates! The ATM machine is always "out of service." This is extremely FRUSTRATING and lines inside are way too long. They should have a 2nd ATM machine, in case one breaks, you still have one for back up. read more

Not a member of Patelco. My (fun money) account is with SF Police Credit Union, but use Patelco on occasion (SFPCU and Patelco offer "shared branching" for some things). Bank tellers are always friendly and very rarely is there a wait. Open until 2pm on Saturdays so you can actually do your banking even if you work during the week. You must ring the bell and be buzzed in to gain entry to Patelco. Once inside, there's not much by way of security. At Wells Fargo (where I have a checking and savings acct), I feel somewhat safer. At WF you have a slightly higher sense (false or not) of security with armed guards and bullet proof glass (for the tellers). That being said, I would very much like to see Patelco add some additional deterrents. read more

This co-op shares credit union is not very "cooperative" it is their policy that they not accept any deposits to any of the co-op credit union accounts. Instead they ask you to shove up to $1000 into an atm which is located in a high traffic area on a sidewalk located in front of the branch. read more

I have been banking with Patelco for 18 years (14 yrs at Concord branch and 4 years at this branch) I know the Branch Manager Erin from Concord location. I always find professionalism, courtesy and helpfulness when I visit and I go to the branch at least once a week. Erin, Nicole, Kathy and staff are always going the extra mile. They truly care about members. They are knowledgeable about policy and always willing to guide members. Yes, it is a smaller location and maybe someday it will expand. Until that day line length may get long at peak hours. Rather than aiming wait time complaints at the branch-contact Patelco itself and make the suggestion to expand the location and get more tellers. Branches can't control that. All in all Erin and her crew do a great job! I am a proud Patelco member. This branch makes me feel good knowing they are watching out for me and my money. Any transaction that I need, they are able to solve it immediately or refer me to another Patelco employee who is in charge of that particular type of transaction like HELOC, investments, etc. Do not try to call the Branch number.
