They asked me to wait a few minutes at the seating area. I appreciated the cozy seating area with warm tea and coffee. After a few minutes, I was introduced to Kathy who would be doing the notary services. She was able to notarize my document quickly. Kathy was also professional and very knowledgeable. Absolutely thrilled to report that I was denied access to my own funds today because I didn't have my physical ID--despite showing official proof that my license is in the mail. I brought documentation, verification. What really makes this whole thing shine is that another branch had zero issue releasing my funds just days ago with the exact same paperwork. So I guess policy depends on who you get that day? Love the consistency. And the cherry on top? I was also informed that I can't even close my account without my physical ID. So let me get this straight: I can't access my money, and I can't stop them from holding it, either. Truly a masterclass in customer service. It's so reassuring to know that the bank I trusted with my finances has decided I'm suddenly unidentifiable--even with official documents--until a piece of plastic arrives in the mail. The worst experience with a bank I have ever had. Added a joint account online. I was never able to get access to. The website said I didn't exist. Spoke with customer service after being on hold for 45 mins the site finally knows me. Start the enrollment process and am unable to confirm my contact info. I get a "undefined" error. Tried again later and back to not existing. I go into the bank, the clerk tells me they don't have any of the info I uploaded online when we opened the account. Provided the info, password code texted to me, still no access. I do not exist. Finally get told the IT people will need 4 business days to fix it. In the meantime I have no access to my paycheck. I can't login and pay my mortgage. I am literally in the bank parking lot right now on my way to Wells Fargo to create a joint account and close this one. I have never had so many issues. It is hard to trust a bank with my money when it can't even find my ID that was uploaded to THEIR OWN SITE. read more

I am a Patelco member have been for years. Stay away from the Santa Clara branch it's worth the extra time to travel to the other branches. Yolanda specifically has held me up for longer then needed on multiple times. I went to withdraw in different denominations and held me there for over 1.5 hours. I had it the last time I went in for a cashiers check Yolanda was on the phone and I asked the branch manager for assistance and she said Yolanda will be off the phone soon to assist me. I walked out no need for any confrontations. But they do work for a members union and these two specifically have no care about their union members. Patelco itself is a great bank system. I've been with Patelco for over 15 years and generally I've been impressed with how helpful the staff are. The staff at this branch were all especially nice and courteous towards me. Kristine L. worked with me on a private party auto purchase and she was nothing short of incredible. She was insightful, patient, and very attentive. She took care of us very well, and was able to answer any question I had. I was so impressed with Kristine's help that I asked to speak to the branch manager, Yolanda, just to let them know how helpful she was. I have been a member of Patelco since 1995 because of recent events to include unable to access my funds because of the Ransom attack Patelco allowed to happen back in July. Now the Patelco staffs incompetence in verification of a letter from the Department of Vetrans Affairs that was meant for my Father who passed away in January of 2024 with a similar name. The letter was to get a refund of $85 payment made to my account which my late father was never an authorized user of. Patelco took it upon themselves to freeze all my accounts because the letter also mentioned his passing away so that must be me right. Instead of looking at my account activity and seeing I am in fact not deceased or even calling me to explain the letter received and ask me to come in with valid identification before making such a drastic decision. They went ahead and assumed it was me and without warning or proper proof froze all my accounts that was 5 days ago. I have been to two different Branches Cherry ave & Bascom ave and cannot seem to be allowed to talk to the correct department who can rectify my situation. They just say someone will call you back but these people never do. Once my access is restored aa a member of 29 years sadly I will be pulling my money and two other family members will as well it's clear Patelco has clearly forgotten the personal 1-to-1 member interaction the used to separate them from any bank I have had. read more

Banker woman with purple hair started off with an attitude and very unhelpful. I came in asking for hardship options, like disability grants or anything and she presented no ideas for assistance or options. She was rude and she laughed at my situation which made me very sad. She went above and beyond the call of duty to answer my many detailed questions regarding my Individual Retirement Account (IRA) that I have at Patelco. I needed to know specific details about converting a Traditional to a Roth IRA, taking Required Minimum Distributions, account terms and credit union penalties involved as well as investment alternatives. This branch is awesome. The tellers are nice and very helpful. I'm always greeted with a smile.

Today I deposited some cash, which I need to cover my expenses. I asked, "When will this be deposited in my account". The nice teller gave bad news. "We have no idea when this will be available" Why? "We have no idea when this issue will be resolved?" Can you ask your manager. "She will give you the same answer". I walked out disappointed. Patelco has FAILED the test of offering TRUST. It has lied in the new media saying in effect claiming this issue would be resolved early this week. As soon as this issue is cleared, Patelco should pay any fees I encounter because of their FAILURES. I intend to finally leave this morally bankrupt bank who was short sighted in not setting up safeguards against hacking of any kind. Patelco will experience FLIGHT in droves to other banks that can be TRUSTED. read more

I must say, I am so happy someone referred me to Patelco Credit Union. Here is my experience: I called and immediately was able to speak to a live person, no lengthy automated drag out directory before you can reach a customer service rep, no multiple department transfers from one person to the next. They made me feel so welcomed as if they already knew who I was and really they listens to your needs. They are professional and constantly keep you in the loop during the process. They give me advice on things I was not aware of. They really have the best interest in their customers (not like BofA or other banks I have ever experienced). I have been a long time customer of BofA and they did not want to do anything for me (which was extremely disappointing) so I came to Patelco and instantly they were so helpful. Patelco is one of the worst lending solutions you can use. Their loan agents are not responsive at all. After they collect your documents, and do the credit check, they will not pick up the call. Kevin Guo is a clear example. He has no idea how to work with clients. I tried calling him twice and he did not pick up. Terrible. read more

Loved being a Patelco customer for 20 years. All the sudden many things are screwed up & I get the ole Yabba-Dabba-Do explanations (something must have changed, these are the rules, etc. ... implying its my fault) = inept workers who can't figure out simple stuff. All the sudden I'm dinged $5/mo on my "free checking account", but its sporadic & not dinged every month ... again, Patelco reads a long list of rules but cannot explain 1) Change to Fee or 2) Sporadic (They switched me to a new type of "Free Checking"). Yet I even have a sizable amount of money in my Savings account which earns 'squat' interest (don't want it in Checking to avoid ATM Fraud, etc.). Feels to me like shades of Wells Fargo. I take my Tax Return check to the ATM to deposit. After completing the 'entire transaction', it eats my ATM card & returns the check. They called the next day to pick up my card, so I went up to Moonbeam location & they said they couldn't find my card without looking for it. Steamed, I made them look & they found it in a minute, after a long investigation, they said it was expired ... and they could extend it a year. Went out to the ATM as I'm learning not to trust them & it eats my card. They looked again & said someone in the central office voided it & they ordered me a new card, which would arrive in a week. This ALL happened because Patelco didn't mail me a new ATM card ... I asked why ... & they investigated & don't know. Lord have mercy. Simple problems & no one knows nuffin'!! Takes a lot of time to address these problems which shouldn't even happen. read more

I use Patelco because they're one of the few banks/credit unions that have HSA accounts. This location is in an older strip mall, so parking is good - but I sure wish there was a location in a less out-of-the-way place down this way. This location is not convenient to any freeway, nor from downtown San Jose (where I work) - so I try not to have to go in and do as much of my banking as I can through direct deposit and the use of a Visa debit card. That said, the branch is staffed with friendly people and the indoor ATMs are cool 'coz they have suction tubes for sending in your deposit or getting money out with little TV screens so you can actually see the teller you're working with who is inside the building somewhere. It's like Epcot Center ... but not. If you see what I mean. :-D Had to run over there today to put in some extra money to pay for my son's recent cavity-filling at the dentist, and that used up my whole lunchhour driving to them, doing the deposit, and driving back. So yah ... that definitely sucks. read more

My wife and I had 2 auto loans with Capital 1, My company was offering a switch to save discount and we just wanted to see if we could save some money. Avoid this place unless you want to spend hours with incompetent, poorly trained and unmotivated staff. Patelco's rates may be good (and maybe some other branch is better), but it takes forever to get things done. You push a button and then, maybe, they'll actually bother to look and open the door. This can take minutes, even if the shop is empty and two tellers are 'working'. Now to the meat of it - I was selling a car and the buyer got a loan with Patelco. It should be easy - give them the title, they give me the check and everyone's happy. Not so. Even after approval they wanted me to sign a bunch of blank documents (no, no), didn't understand how someone could actually own a car (they complained that there was no lien on my car title and complained that nobody had signed a lien release ... well, that's normal if there's no lien), and overall were just very poorly prepared. The employee managing the transaction had no real interest in getting things done and was very aloof. She was ridiculously slow, didn't actually bother reading what was needed, the actual account manager was out for lunch and thus incommunicado (at 2pm ...). What should have taken at most 15 minutes took more like 90 minutes. TL;DR - I spent more time at Patelco waiting for a check than what I spent at my bank to take care of the loan when I bought my house. Heck, it's probably more time than I ever spent in a bank in one piece. Avoid! read more

Patelco totally lived upto the expectation I had and Justin was thorough and awesome! He not only answered all my questions very patiently but also stayed back over the closing hours to get everything done.
