This is a hidden gem! Stopped in and got samosa chaat, garlic naan, chicken korma, chicken vindaloo and of course, a mango lassi. I kid you not, this is some of the best chicken korma I've ever had. Perfectly spiced with tender chicken. The chicken vindaloo was amazing as well. Nice and spicy! The employees were so friendly and really took pride in the food they serve. A couple of things are really wonky. First, this place is just a carry out. They have some tables but the lady has her toddler and son who is a bit older. We ordered drinks and food all at once. I ordered tandoori chicken. A whole chicken according to the menu. Apparently they didn't have any and she offered the Tikka version (boneless) I asked if it was the same portion size. She said yes but that was wrong and not even close. My estimate was one good sized chicken breast While we were waiting for our food I had to ask her son for our drinks. During the food prep I heard the microwave door open and close many times. It's like everything is precooked including the rice. The food didn't taste bad but we don't own a microwave and especially don't go out to eat for microwaved food sitting in the dining area (watching YouTube and playing on a tablet (baby shark). The ambiance was well poor ... the place has a knotty pine counter that's left over from when Park's Landing was there. Prior to my arrival in Maryland, my Bestfriend stumbled upon this restaurant via social media and we agreed to go together on my next trip. Being our usual self, we were excited to try out a new restaurant together and experience Indian Cuisine. Upon walking in, the floor plan isn't the traditional Buffet Style setup. The tables are in the front and the Buffet selection is towards the back BEHIND the counter. Though it is All You Can eat, they serve the food to you via a cafeteria style setup. As this was the first time, the young lady who assisted us proposed that she put a sample of everything on my plate so I can see what I liked, then in the next go round, focus on the items I decided upon. This was a perfect idea as it allowed me to get a feel for everything and be able to make an informed decision for round 2. Along with this, you must request the NAAN bread at the counter and it gets brought to your table. After going down the line, I got a sample of everything except the goat. Overall, the food was good. The Chicken Kabob was super moist and meaty. It had a true authentic seasoning blend which was mild, yet flavorful. The Butter Chicken was good. The flavors weren't as robust as I imagined, however, it was good overall and was brought to life when paired with the NAAN bread. The Kidney Beans and Chick Peas (Green Bean) sides were both amazing. I really enjoyed the flavor profiles of each dish as well as the spice level. Both of these side selections present as the highlight of the plate. So much so, I would go back for an order of each of these alone. The NAAN bread was truly the hidden gem of the experience. I have never had FRESH NAAN bread and the fact that this was homemade and fresh was beyond mouth watering. The naan was crispy on the outside but still had the soft center which allowed for the chew to be even more pleasing than what the mind could have imagined. Furthermore, there is a perfect amount of oil and garlic that provides this added addition to the flavor profile. Oh my! For the record, if I lived in the area, the NAAN bread would be a weekly indulgence of mine. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and if in the area again with a taste for Indian Cuisine, I wouldn't hesitate to stop in for a to-go order. I've never had Indian food before, but my husband wanted to give it a try. We had lamb and a vegetarian dish. We also had vegetables samosas, cheese naan and rosemary naan. I'm having leftovers today, and I think it tastes even better today. The lady that took out order was a bit grouchy and unwilling to explain the dishes. We interrupted a phone call by walking in apparently, but she left almost right away and a super helpful lady helped us after that. Someone mentioned that it seemed more set up for carry out. Totally agree. The door opens to the dining space. A no fuss space which was pretty chilly as the wind blew in each time the door opened. It was clean though, and the 2nd lady was super helpful. We were excited to discover an Indian restaurant had opened in Westminster. This was our first time dining here, the atmosphere is more geared towards carry out than dining in. That said, don't let that fool or deter you. The food is phenomenal! Both the chef and his wife (owners) are also extremely helpful in guiding and suggesting dishes. She was super friendly and engaging. The tandoori' oven was down and that was a semi-bummer, however, it likely was for the best because otherwise we may not have tried something new. The flavor of each dish was superb and I look forward to ordering from here again. With so many options we couldn't decide so ended up over ordering.... Plenty of leftovers though, so that's a plus. Good to finally see a different cuisine coming to Westminster. The bonus is that this place has some of the most authentic and best Indian food I've had outside of my mom's kitchen. Overall this place is probably a 4 - 4.5 because the ambiance is basic and there can be service challenges if they are busy but bumping it up to offset the morons that either don't know Indian food or are expecting fine dining. Let's set expectations. They are not fine dining. The food is absolutely amazing but the space is small and relatively sparse. Service is sufficient but it leans more toward fast casual style but tends to be at a standard sit down pace. You place your order at the register and they'll bring it out. Service is always friendly and the owners are always willing to steer you in the right direction if you're not sure what to order. Now that you have proper expectations, let's get into the meat and aloo of it. I've sampled probably half the menu at this point and there is nothing there that I wouldn't get again outside of personal preference. Spice level for all the dishes has been perfect. The lamb vindaloo was flavorful and had level of heat that had me sweating. Nothing a Kingfisher beer and raita couldn't take care of. Speaking of lamb, the roganjosh is another winner. The milder more American/British style dishes - butter chicken and chicken tikka masala - are great places to novices to the cuisine to start for meats. Honestly I doubt you are going to go wrong with any of non-veg dishes. The only feedback I would have is that you are pretty much limited to lamb, goat and chicken. There are limited fish options, which I wouldn't mind seeing more of. The veg dishes are a little more varied than the meats and once again come with amazing flavor. One of my favorites are the bhindi (okra) masala. They do a good job of cooking it without the texture getting slimy with good spice. My mom still makes a better one but this is close second. Palak paneer is another solid option for novices and seasoned Indian food connoisseurs. The spinach is creamy and seasoned with large chunks of paneer cheese. Channa (chickpea) masala is also stellar. Appetizers like samosas, pakoras and chaats are also must trys. Breads are solid as well with a great selection of options. I favor the onion kulcha and cheese naan (actually any naan), but you can't go wrong with any of them. In closing, this Indian food is the best stuff you are going to find without going to Royal Taj in Columbia. If you are in a hurry or have a large party, you are going to want to call ahead because everything is made to order and takes some time. But give this place a shot if you want to try Indian because it is a very good representation of the cuisine. I hope Westminster/Carroll County is ready for and can support this place because the food is unbelievably good. read more

Reading some of these reviews makes me laugh as they never been to a good Indian restraunt before, expect urself to be taking care of urself for things such as napkins and ordering, Let the man and his sister cook some delicious Indian food for you, Having been to indian this is as authentic as u can ask without going to india....that being said. Things in india are different. Don't come here for the service. You come here for the food. This is easily the best Indian place within 100 miles, These people are extremely nice but might feel as if they shouldn't engage with customers because of the English barrier, but if u start talking to them. FANTASTIC! We came upon this place and we were thrilled. The food is great! Rich savory indian food buffet. Lot's to choose from and fresh rich flavors. Vegetarian options as well. Order comes with a fresh basket of naan. My chef gave it two thumbs up. They even play indian movies and TV shows in this casual environment. This place is the best. The people are so down to earth and friendly, and the food is absolutely to die for.

First off, the food was good...which might help you to understand how lacking our experience was in other areas. At the time we were there, the owner was the only front of house staff and we were the only table. Even so, we were greeted with "seat your self and because I am the only one here, come to the register to order." When we went to order she was unable to give any recommendations. On the menu, we saw that the only offered canned soft drinks, and where charging $1.95/can. We found out that they do not offer complimentary water and charge the same price by the bottle. While this is not the first restaurant that we've been to that chooses cans and bottles, this was the first that does not offer ice or a glass and certainly the first time I've experienced this in a restaurant that charges $20 for just about every offering. They also charged $3 per naan loaf (4 pieces). All of this together, makes for an overpriced and under-serviced experience. Finally, my wife and one of our kids needed to use the restroom and said that it was filthy. Which, especially on a day when we dined for 45 min with no one else in the dining room, seemed unacceptable. Overall, too pricy, stingy with the beverages and naan, not clean, below average service... the food was good. I really hope they can figure this out, Westminster needs a good Indian restaurant. read more

My wife and I had a great experience. We enjoyed the food and conversation with the owner/chef and host. He does it all. I wish the previous reviewers could understand and appreciate the courage, dedication, and hard work that the owner has poured into Patiala. An Indian, who cooks and eats Indian food all the time, I can say that the two dishes I carried out--paneer lababdar and kadhai goat--were the bomb! Went for lunch and there was so many dirty tables had to wait to get seated because there was only two people working. Told me to go to the counter for buffet and they serve you. I could not even walk up to the counter because it was too crowded. Very small space and only 4 items on the buffet and no chutney. It's the most disorganized Indian restaurant I've ever been to and I have been to many. From what I can see from their prices are overpriced for vegetarian dishes. Me and my son like international food and he discovered Patiala and said "My you need to go" so he took me there and believe me, he was correct, the food is amazing. It's a small business with awesome food and a big variety. The chef is the cashier and the waiter, so please be nice because he will give you an amazing food with no staff. It was my lucky day because I asked for rice pudding and he told me will take some time because it was in progress. Like many, we are so glad to have an Indian Restaurant in Westminster! We love Indian food and usually grab it from Catonsville or Owings Mills. We ordered 5 different dishes (a mix of veg and non-veg) for take out. The order took 75 minutes to complete which wasn't an issue because I ordered early after reading others reviews of food taking a while. The food at Patiala was good to great :) However, the prices will deter Patiala being a regular take out place for us. And, I was disappointed in the portion size, especially for the price. read more

This was some of the best Indian food I've had in years hands down!!! The people that run it are amazing and they consistently make delicious food. Very worth the price and you get great portions of gourmet food. Would recommend to anyone that comes to this area or is just passing through and hungry. 10/10 will come again every time I eat out and that's no exaggeration because they have a great menu too so I'll be switching it up here and there. Unbelievable lack of customer service. Ordered thru door dash and saw as I was leaving to pick up my food that they had changed my order because they were out of what I ordered...,without contacting me or asking what I'd like to do. Called 4 times before heading over to try to fix the situation but the phone went directly to voicemail. When I arrived and confirmed that they changed my order, I told them I did not want the food since it was not what I ordered. They didn't apologize or anything- only acted like it was strange that I didn't want the item they chose to replace my order with (it was not similar). They offered to cook something else, but at that point my family's order from next door was ready and I was so annoyed by their actions that I contacted DoorDash for a refund.
