really, quite bad. came for brunch; hostess suggested there wasn't room to seat our party of 3 even though there was only one table seated in an otherwise empty restaurant. when she did seat us, she told us what time we'd have to vacate the table. service was tortoise-paced, and servers did not check back to see how things were. and they were not good. the eggs in my benedict were so undercooked that they were essentially liquid, and the biscuits doughy undercooked. the pancakes looked great, and the bloody mary was okay. but not good enough to compensate for the bafflingly poor, unenthusiastic service. the staff (with the exception of one efficient, friendly female server) seemed like they'd rather have an empty restaurant than actually serve customers. i'd definitely never go back. read more

Most expensive omelette I ever had ($24.00)as well as one of the worst. Went for Easter brunch. My friend had the prime rib which he said was very good. My omelette was dry and overcooked with brown around some of the edge. Filling was sparse and creme fesh was left off. When waitress came to clear my plate she asked how everything was as i left most of my omelette uneaten. I told her it was dry and not very good , and she said so you didn't like it and she walked away. No I'm sorry or I apologize. Nothing . Very disappointed. read more

Went for dinner with wife. Atmosphere was great, setting is upscale but not unnecessarily snooty. Felt very much like big city restaurant. Had salmon and strip steak. Both cooked exactly as ordered and delicious. A few sides, squash was the best. Service was outstanding. Cocktails and wine reasonably priced. Given the prices, a very high value for the experience and food compared to other high end restaurants in Buffalo. Will definitely return. read more

This was highly anticipated and hugely disappointing. A beautifully designed space but very loud. I did like the open kitchen! Our cocktails the black squirrel sugarshack punch may have been the highlight of the dinner for me. The apps were good, we got peirogi and the fried cauliflower. They were good, not great. My friends entrees were ok but no one was raving. My entree was where it really went south. I ordered one of the specials which was homemade cavatelli with scallops in a lobster jus. Sounds delish! They put the plate in front of me and our waitress neglected to include that the cavatelli was made with squid ink, so they were black. My dinner looked like a dish of little black caterpillars with scallops. This was a big omission on our waitresses part. Had i known it was squid ink pasta I probably wouldn't have ordered it but i tried to be a trooper. I tried to just get past it and eat it. I did it some of it and although it was ok tasting I really couldn't get over it visually and neither could the other people at my table. It's a nice place and i would go in for a drink but not dinner. The food is ok but way overpriced, Buffalo has alot of other great options for less money and much better food. I went to Patina 250 for breakfast with my boyfriend this morning for the first time and we were really excited to try out a new place. The atmosphere is amazing and it is very quiet and relaxing. I ordered a cinnamon brioche french toast which was amazing and it was great portion for the price. My boyfriend ordered the buttermilk pancakes which came as a tiny side of 3 ( 4 inch) pancakes with a scoop of blueberries on top. We assumed that the portion for the pancakes are way smaller than the portion for french toast. The server brought out our check after almost half hour waiting to check on us and we were amazed that we were charged $30 for that tiny side of pancakes. I mentioned the price to the other waitress because our server never came back to pick up the check and she assumed that we ordered the prix fixe ( $35) but then I told her that we ordered just the brunch special, the buttermilk pancakes. They fixed the price for the prix fixe but still charged us full price for a full order of pancakes when we were only given a side. All in all they gave us only a side of pancakes which comes with the prix fixe that includes drinks and everything but charged us for the full price of a full order. Very disappointed that I chose this place to celebrate my birthday for brunch and we will never go back again. read more

Went here for lunch today. A big crowd for a Thursday. The food was very good. We had the beet and cauliflower appetizers. Was pleased with bread selection from another favorite, Elm Street Bakery. Both appetizers were suitable for sharing and yummy. The tuna nicoise was gorgeous. Seared tuna over greens. The fried chicken sandwich was on the dry side but the housemade chips and slaw made up for it. A beautiful space with semi-open kitchen. The hotel property is spectacular. Particularly the courtyard space. Danielle graciously gave us an impromptu tour. Service in the restaurant was very good/excellent until it was time for the check. The delivery of the check was delayed just beyond what is an acceptable time, especially because we were right at prime lunch time. Overall very good and look forward to dinner soon! read more

My wife, daughter and myself had dinner at the restaurant on Christmas Eve. The bar is great, staff is attentive, ambiance is very contemporary. They offered a limited Christmas eve menu and the food was sub-par....especially for the high price. I ordered the fish which the server could not clearly describe what the fish was or its origin. Something about the Mediterranean Sea?? When I received my food the fish looked like it was a small Bream pulled out of the Santee Cooper in South Carolina. One visit top this restaurant is enough for us. read more

Came into Patina for New Year's Eve with my girlfriends and was amazed of how elegant the bar/restaurant was. Definitely felt like a NYC vibe and the cocktails were outstanding. Our bearded bartender , can't remember his name but was very helpful and handsome ;) Took care of most of our cocktails and made some very good small plate suggestions. Overall, we had a great time and the food and drinks were outstanding. Will definitely be back !! read more

We were planning on dinner here with a group. Good reviews so why not. Like to bring our own wine so called for corkage fee as I seen in another review that it was pretty high. Sure enough it was more than I have ever heard at any restaurant...$35! Outrageous? I can see them wanting you to purchase wine in house but their wine prices are 4 times the retail. Normally a restaurant charge 2-3 but 4 times? Management seriously needs to look at their greedy alcohol pricing objectives. read more

Beautiful ambiance. Great bar staff. Food... ehh. I'm not impressed. Being born and raised with amazing food in Buffalo, would of thought I would of been slightly impressed by something more than the free popcorn served at the bar. My first time in Buffalo (9/20/2016) and was staying at the Westin. I was looking for a good restaurant and the person at the reservation desk said try Patina 250 in the hotel. Great recommendation! My friend and I could not have had a better evening. The dinner and cocktails were excellent--I had a Manhattan, and our server could not have been more attentive. As a business man myself (albeit small), I was generally impressed also with the overall management of the establishment. It was a nice experience, and I would certainly come back. Anything positive is for the ambiance & hostess. Food & service barely one star. They have a great Instagram presence, food always looks great. Went for brunch, my party had a lot of the items on the menu. ONE TIP- don't do the bottomless mimosas or bellinis, they make no attempt to refill. Pretty much everything was cold when it arrived at the table, waiter was nice enough but unbelievably disinterested in his job. A few people had benedict, idk.. jalapeño jack cornbread? Trying way too hard to be different. Hollandaise had no flavor, strangest thing. How can butter, egg yolks, & lemon have no flavor? Maybe it was a powered mix. Steak & eggs, meh, ok but a minuscule amount of steak. Someone else had the salmon scrambled eggs, the salmon wasn't off but it just tasted wonky. Drinks ordered from the bar took foooorrreeeever. This didn't seem like an off day either, prob will not ever go back. read more

Having been here a few times, we went back because some of our friends had never been but were excited to try it. In a city where competition is growing, I'm sad to see that this restaurant hasn't caught up. The space is so neat, you literally feel like you're in NYC or LA when you're at the bar, but the food service is still lacking. Nothing came out hot, everything was over salted and the fresh, home made pasta was crunchy, not al dente, but crunchy (I could hear the diner next to me crunching and tasted hers and it was crunchy). The explanation is that it was a homemade hollow spaghetti (bucatini) so it cooks differently, which doesn't explain why fresh homemade pasta is crunchy like dry pasta. They sent out a second pasta which was crunchier than the first batch, but at least hot and we just sent it back. They graciously sent out the whole dessert menu, but really all we needed was a genuine apology and a waitress and manager who seemed to care and the meals to be taken off the bill, not just throwing more ok food at the situation. We really hope they can evaluate the food service and solve the issues because it has such great potential, but it is very inconsistent, especially for a company that specializes in food service and hospitality. read more

So disappointed in the food. My party of 4 had reservations for Thanksgiving day. We got to the restaurant promptly at 4 and we're seated immediately. The drink order was taken and our Refreshments were delivered in a timely fashion. Everything so far was going well. We are 4 women who go out to eat often and know a good meal when we have one. Always nice when you don't have to cook. Our waiter was friendly and the service was fine. It was the meals that had us so, so disappointed. Three of the four meals were actually cold. Two of us ordered the short ribs with polenta. We each got one short rib about a 2-inch Square that was literally cold on the inside. Unfortunately there was nothing memorable about the taste or the flavor of that lonely little short rib. Nothing creative about it at all. It was sitting on a bed of polenta that was so Bland and tasteless it reminded me of a baby's pablum. My other friend ordered the Thanksgiving dinner. That was cold as well and the gravy on top of the turkey was already cold and congealed! Oh I also ordered a side of potatoes which came in a pretty little oval crock. I should have checked the menu before I added that extra side. The cup of potatoes that were in the crock was 8 bucks! $8 could have purchased more than 10 lb of potatoes. This restaurant is way, way, way too pricey for the quality of the food being served. The restaurant wasn't even crowded. It was less than half-full. Many empty tables at that 4:00 hour.What a shame because the atmosphere is quite lovely. There are so many wonderful restaurants downtown. And we live close enough to walk to most of them. This is one we won't be going back to. So sad. read more

My wife and I went out for our 17 year anniversary and decided on Patina 250. The atmosphere was amazing and very clean, well that was the best part of our experience for the evening. We were seated immediately and greeted by our waiter ( nice start ), ordered cocktails and our waiter left and was slow to return , finally made it back and we ordered an appetizer, waited awhile longer and finally brought to our table, no plates so we ate off the plate the appetizer was served on, had to ask for water ( thought a high end restaurant would automatically have water at the table ). Ok so I finish my drink and I'm waiting for our waiter to come back and after 15 minutes the manager came by and asked if I would like another drink I said yes and can we order dinner too. Took our order and my wife's steak was fatty , couldn't eat it, my fish was good but small portion for $32. They did take the steak off the bill and we left hungry. I would not recommend this place to anyone, there are so many more restaurants in the area to visit , we can't believe this place is in business. Thought by reading other reviews this place would be awesome, very disappointed. read more

Was planning on going to another place Saturday night for dinner a came across Patina 250 and said why not let's give it a try. Did not have reservations but we were able to sit at a table in the bar area which was fine with us. Some people might not like that spot but without reservations it was fine with us. Ordered the Deviled eggs & Pierogi's for apps....both were very good. My wife not a big fan of spicy things so if that's not your style you might want to pass on the deviled eggs as there was some horseradish in there. We ordered a bottle of Bedell Merlot wine for $52 and it was very good. We ordered the Tomahawk Rib Eye for 2 which came with Mashed Potatoes and Broccolini. The presentation of the rib eye was great and the flavor was top notch. Our waiter seemed a little aloof but got the job done. The manager checked in to make sure everything was going well which was nice. Would try it again for sure but have so many other places we want to try who knows if we will make it in again. read more

Had a 7:30 reservation, walked in at 7:15 and we waited at the host stand, and we waited, and waited, and waited, and waited until a server finally came over to acknowledge us. He apologized that we were waiting and asked if we had a reservation and we told him that we did. He told us he would check our table but he really had to go find the host who was standing at the bar chit chatting. She then came over and apologized and told us that our table wasn't ready yet so we headed to the bar for a drink. A few minutes later we were seated and again we waited and waited and waited for a server to come over. Mr. No personality came to our table and asked us if we wanted tap or bottled water and then walked away. There was no welcoming introduction, or even a "good evening". I would've liked some insight about the menu, maybe a few suggestions but we didn't get any. So then we waited and waited and waited and waited and he came back to then ask us if we had any questions...we didn't. We ordered, we ate, we paid the bill and left very unimpressed. The crab cake was delicious, My husbands strip steak was lacking luster and my short ribs were just okay. We ordered a side of onion rings and mashed potatoes, (we don't think they were real potatoes). We passed on dessert but the menu looked good. read more

My husband and I went here for dinner last night. I made reservations earlier in the week and could only get in at 5:30 so if you want to go at a later time, make sure you plan ahead! The food and service were wonderful. We ordered the crab cake for an appetizer which was the best crab cake I've ever had. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for and this was definitely top notch. We also split the tomato soup and the beet salad which were both excellent. My husband isn't a huge tomato fan, and he was raving about the soup. I ordered the salmon for dinner, which was cooked perfectly and came with a great sauce. My husband ordered the steak and he said it was cooked just like he wanted, the only complaint was that it was a little on the salty side. For sides, we ordered the onion rings, spaghetti squash fondue (amazing) and the broccoli rabe. All great. Dessert was the blackout cake and it didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was very inviting and we loved that the kitchen was open for us to see! Wonderful place .... Highly recommend! read more
