My first experience at Patina 250 was excellent, and I'm excited to go back. The waitress recommended the buffalo style cauliflower and duck. The cauliflower brought a burst of local Buffalo flavor and the duck was cooked to perfection. Aside from the food the service was impeccable. I was never left with an empty glass which is something that I can't say about many of the other restaurants I have been to. I have a dinner group and tried to get reservations twice. Both times, I was asked to email the banquet manager as our group of 12 is over 9. The first time I sent an email and received a return phone call. They were unfortunately unable to meet our timetable. The second time, I asked for the manager to call me, of which I never received a return phone call. There are way too many restaurants in Buffalo to choose from, to tolerate this difficulty. Not impressed. Food was average at best. We go to many restaurants where the entrees are in the high $20's or low $30 and feel satisfied but not here. We were still hungry. We only got 4 average sized scallops for the entree. The salads were over priced and not good either. The best part was the bar. We would def go back for drinks though. Disappointing! read more

Stayed at the Westin while visiting for a weekend. Went to Patina 250 on two occasions both were less then positive. The first night we had horrible service from the bar to the point I would say it was rude. Had breakfast there on another occasion and the wait staff was completely inattentive. 15 min wait for coffee in a sparsely filled restaurant not ok. When I arrived for my friend's small party of 6, that was when I first discovered the restaurant was located at the Westin Hotel. I parked in the parking ramp around the corner from the restaurant and it was $3 for 2.5 hrs. After realizing it was at the hotel I expected the menu to have 5-star hotel prices and it did of course. Starters started at $12-$16. Sides $8. Entrees $17-$45. And there were special dishes that ranged from $45-$70. There were also salads, soups, mixed drinks, and wine options. The place is very nicely decorated and has a nice, classy, but hip atmosphere. It's very open, so we were able to see the waitresses and other staff watching our table all night, however she only stopped by our table to take our orders and bring drinks. Towards the end of the night she wasn't attentive to our table at all. I got a starter item and a side since I didn't want to spend more than $30 and the entree items didn't sound that good. I got the spare ribs and mashed potatoes. They weren't all that great. Over cooked, dry, and it appeared that they were beef, not pork as advertised. Myself and everyone else at our table was not all that impressed with the food. It was just okay. I don't know if the restaurant serves desserts or refills because the waitress only came by to ask if we were done with a few dishes. She and the busboy/runner came by and cleared away most of our dishes while we just sat there. We didn't mind at first because we were all talking. However we were left sitting there for over 20 mins waiting for the waitress to come back. She came back and was clearing more dishes and I asked her if we could please have the checks. There were only 6 other tables being attended to so I'm not sure what that was about. They brought out a small slice of layered chocolate cake with a sparkler in it for my friends birthday and the checks came shortly after. ***possible scam tactic???*** The waitress for some odd reason decided to combine our bills putting 2 seats on each for a total of 3 checks. She claimed that she could split two credit cards on each of those checks instead of giving us 6 separate bills as we originally asked. When she came back with our credit cards the original receipt was taken away but we had the credit receipts that were split had tip suggestions. My friend and I had a bill that came up to $60 with the split credit card it suggested on each our receipts to tip the waitress 18% & 20%. For each of our $30 charges it suggest we each tip $10. Which is clearly not 20%. I didn't catch it until we left the restaurant with both us tipping a 3rd of our bill total or 33%. It was my mistake for not realizing that the suggestion was for a $60 bill but since she took that receipt it hadn't crossed my mind. I'm positive that the waitress was counting on everyone not to do the math and making that mistake. I wouldn't have even cared to tip 30-50% if her service was great but it wasn't at all! Over all it was an okay experience. 3/5 with a mark down for the tip debacle. read more

We went for Sunday brunch which was good, although not sure worth the $39. However, we stopped at the bar before our reservation and that was a complete joke! The bartender had no idea where items were located, served a drink over flowing with no napkins, bartender spent more time talking to someone at other end of bar (presume an employee) rather than preparing our drinks, 2 male "Manager's" were also too occupied with the young lady so clearly did not notice how poorly bar was being ran. Came in with my boss for lunch and was impressed by the atmosphere and comfortable seating. The wait staff was excellent and cocktails were reasonably priced. I started with the roasted tomato soup which was very good. I also got the kale and quinoa salad which I did not enjoy as much as the soup. The salad lacked flavor and seasoning, I wouldn't order that one again. My boss got the 250 burger with wedge fries as well as the small plate of cauliflower bites. He said the burger was very good and I tried the cauliflower bites which were were tasty, a perfect Buffalo dish. The atmosphere and modern decor are some of the nicest in Buffalo. Drinks were good, bartender was very nice. Food was ok for the most part, although the portions were pretty small. We were also "double charged" on an appetizer because they apparently made a larger portion because there were more people at the table......lousy explanation and not a great policy. This should have been stated at the outset. Dessert was excellent. The entrees were not overly expensive, but the bill still ended up being close to $100 per person. I would definitely go back for a drink and maybe an appetizer, but would probably skip dinner. Mother's Day brunch is a disappointment. Even with a reservation waited 15 minutes at bar drinking $11 flat mimosa that wasn't even made with fresh oj. Cappuccino was cold. Frittata tasteless ( like a giant piece of quiche with no crust. Rather cold) and waiter couldn't find salt. We didn't get the $45 prix fix which included unlimited mimosas or Bellinis. Our party of 7 had a horrible experience last night. It was a business meeting and half of the party was from out of town, so we had hopes of showing off the "best of Buffalo". I called ahead to say one of the diners (me) was vegan and the person answering the phone said no problem. We were seated at the table right next to the kitchen - there is a glass wall in between, so we could see and hear everything happening behind the counter. At first we heard the chef yelling at the staff, and acting unruly. I could tell by the body language of the staff that the chef was rubbing them the wrong way. Next, when my vegan request went to the kitchen the waiter said no problem, he usually does a cauliflower steak. I said great, that would be awesome. I did order a vegan soup that was delicious, and everyone else at the table enjoyed their salads and entrees. The chef came out once and asked if I liked mushrooms - I said yes, I do. I said "go ahead and surprise me, I will eat any vegetables". He disappeared back to the kitchen and I actually heard him yell "mushroom". It was strange. At one point he took off his chef jacket and had a t-shirt and jeans underneath. He never put his chef jacket back on. He came back out with a platter with a large oyster mushroom on it that looked like it had been foraged, and actually talked about how many great things can be foraged from our neighborhoods, and he has had LSD/mushroom experiences in the forest. It was bizarre. I thought, what the heck it will be an adventure to eat it, it looks like a normal mushroom. At this point he also said "I hate vegans. My sister-in-law is a vegan and I can't stand her". He dropped a few f-bombs too. Actually in the course of the evening he dropped about 30 f-bombs while talking to our table. It was like he couldn't leave us alone. It was embarrassing. Eventually, my mushroom was done and he hand delivered it with the rest of our entrees with the staff. I *tried* to eat it, but it was so under-cooked and chewy. And I *love* mushrooms! He had added some spring greens, roasted grape tomatoes (a couple), and garlic chips. The mushroom tasted of garlic and salt. When he saw that I only ate half, he came back out from behind the counter and that's when he let rip with the f-bombs, talking to every single person at our table. The whole evening was incredibly bizarre and disappointing. I felt singled out, and our whole party was disturbed by the chef. Oh, and we were charged $24 for the mushroom. Don't go! read more

I am in town from California visiting family and we were all looking forward to checking this place out, especially considering the ambiance and the rumors of an excellent menu. My sister made a reservation over a week in advance to ensure we would be able to get in. The restaurant the decor was sophisticated and chic, staff well dressed, polite and poised. We couldnt wait to get to our table and dig into the menu! The hostes walked us through the bustling restaurant past all of the tables into a cold, private room, I assumed used for larger, private parties. We were a bit confused at first because we were looking forward to sitting in the restaurant where we could enjoy the vibe, hear the music and the buzz of other patrons enjoying their meals. Instead we were set in this cold, dark room away from it all, so we felt immediately disconnected. We asked if the hostes could adjust the temperature so it didn't feel like we were sitting in a wine cellar and also inquired as to why were were cast into this dark room with no ambiance and no music. They explained that this room was for private parties, as we'd thought and they were utilizing it when the restaurant was busy for overflow, especially when unprepared for parties of 5 or more. "unprepared".... strange considering there were 5 of us and my sister made reservations well over a week in advance. We sat there all feeling a bit thrown off and bummed that this was our first impression of this highly anticipated dining experience but all agreed to give it a chance. So we waited..5 min...10 min... finally our server appeared to take drink orders. We had drinks from the bar so we asked for waters and one drink and again waited. 15 min later he returned with our waters and my friends drink and said hed give us a minute to look over the menu. No talk of specials... no suggestions... and he was gone again. we waited for a while at this point annoyed and contemplating leaving and just grabbing Jims Steak Out across the street. We watched as our server stood outside the glass doors of our dungeon room, watched him show other guests the room we were in, us all staring up at him waiting to get the clue that we were ready to order. About 10 minutes later he returned. At this point we were not happy and had been there for an hour with only water. My sister told our server that we were unhappy with the service we had thus far and we were considering paying the check and leaving and he immediately apologized and offered to be more attentive and make sure we had a present dining experience. So again, we decided to give it one more chance and placed our order. I ordered the Salmon, two girls ordered the market fish and another ordered the chicken. We started with a few appetizers and at this point were starving and couldn't wait for food so we asked for bread. A new person came in to serve us the bread which was cold and so hard we feared we'd loose a tooth biting int it! But the delicious salty butter made up for that. Ill say, its very interesting how many different people are involved in serving the table. It felt really bizarre to have 5 people serve our dinner and we wondered what the servers actual job was considering he had only delivered us drinks The perogies were delicious, the beet salad was also good. Our dinner was disappointing to say the least. My salmon was maybe 4oz portion of the thinner tail end of the fish served skin side up, skin still on. I peeled the skin off to reveal the bloodline and the grey fishy part of the salmon and scrapped it off so I could enjoy the fish. It was....ok $26 for a thin, 4 oz tail end of salmon. Not impressed. My sisters fish was dry but had a nice flavor. Not satisfied with our meal we decided to dive into the side dishes, looking for something to fill our belly. Mashed potatos-watered down, runny and tasted identical to boxed powdered potatoes. Broccoli Rabbe- literally inedible. I spit it in my napkin almost immediately after i put it in my mouth. It tasted charred to the point of toxicity. Our waiter ended up taking off the broccoli and 2 appetizers due to the horrible experience we had and he was very nice, but still. Buffalo is filled with great restaurants and foodies. I would've rather eaten at a dive and paid half of what we paid and at least left full and satisfied. Beautiful buildout. Exceptionally attentive and well trained staff (with the explosion of new restaurants -- extra credit). From the busboy to bartender to waitstaff, the pride in the product is palpable. Concept of dining in hotel lobby restaurants is building in the 716, buy Unless you're seated at the corner of the bar (with view of the hotel lobby), you simply have a street level seat to watch the world go by.... A great addition to Buffalo and I look forward to returning. read more

She barely said a word and when you asked her a question she responded with one word answers. When trying to talk to her she just kept doing other things and made you feel like you were bothering her. I came here on New Years with my family and had a lovely dinner with great service on behalf of the waiting staff. HOWEVER when time came to pay the tab they had several issues with running our cards. They claim that my card could not be charged but upon checking my account I had already been charged twice. Finally we choose to use another card and they denied that that it had been charged as well yet the charges had already been reflected on my other online account. This entire process took up the first 40 minutes of my family's 2017 new year. Though I understand technical issues occur, not once did the managers (I believe one of them is named "Rob") come to our table to apologize for the inconvenience. And to add insult to punishment -the two managers preceded to stare at us rudely while circling our table, as if we could not afford to pay our tab when in fact we had been charged our $600 tab several times . The food is good as is waitstaff but WATCH OUT FOR CRAPPY MANAGEMENT!!! read more

I'm giving it two stars Bc after a $450 (table of four) drink and food bill everyone at the table was still hungry. Husband and I got there a lil early to go the to bar and check it out, beautiful bar, older crowd, bar had a staff of 3, one appeared to be the manager, the other two were very young and it appeared inexperienced, almost a lil awkward. I'm not used to that at an upscale bar. While we did call our brands, it was a $40 bar tab for 2 drinks, not a problem but I accidentally split my drink Bc the lights are in a weird spot, the young bartender cleaned it and NEVER offered to replace my $20 cocktail ... you're kidding me, right, it probably cost $4 tops to make and he just stood there looking at me while my husband finished his drink ... that put me on edge a bit, you want customers to come back and there's no shortgage of restaurants in Blo so step up and give me a personalized experience ... our friends (just an FYI my friend's husband is a chef at another restaurant) arrived and we were seated immediately ... wait staff was decent, friendly but they served WARM water, like not room temperature, like warm near the grill water after he said it was ice water ...ugh ... my pregnant friend was like uhmmmmm ... and we all know not to upset a pregnant lady, apps came and we had to ask for salt and pepper ... the apps were delish, highly recommend the mussels, the periogies we light and fluffy but needed better seasoning ... probably some of the best mussels and periogies we have ever had, just a touch more salt and pepper for the periogies ... For dinner we ordered the ribeye for two, crispy chicken and the pork chop, sides to pass including mashed potatoes and rabe ... everything was of good quality but the portions were just too small, I don't need a take home bag for every meal but we laughed ... like the pork chop was legit 5 small bites, what looked like a massive rib eye, once sliced was abt again 5 thin slices person. The crispy chicken was sooooo small. Potatoes were awesome but don't order the rabe ... it was just weird with a chilli power that didn't sit well with the bitter greens in my mouth ... it was an odd combo, dessert was good, cheesecake was yummy and hearty but the chocolate was small too. While the atmosphere is wonderful, we'd return, maybe for drinks and apps but never again for dinner, it's a shame but we actually continued our night at another place and had to order something within two hours of having dinner. If you want good meat just walk over to the Chop House after your drink or appetizer at Patina, lol, while the vibe is not as cool and trendy, you'll pay the same but leave full and happy. I love a beautiful aesthetic but c'mon this is Buffalo, we love our drinks and good food and we aren't ashamed to admit it - I refuse to be taken in by a stunning facade, go for drinks and apps, take in the beauty then run ... lol read more

Came here with a friend for Sunday brunch. First thing I loved about this place is the decor. The restaurant reminds me of a NYC or Chicago restaurant. Secondly we loved the food!! We shared the French toast and eggs Benedict. Both were amazing and so flavorful. The portion sizes were perfect and the food was brought out in a timely manner. After that we shared the blackout cake, omg. I never get dessert at brunch but this is a necessity! Only downside to the restaurant is the prize of their drinks like mimosas or a glass of champagne was $10. They do have unlimited if you do their prix-fixe menu, but with that you get a starter and a meal. Which is great, but I personally didn't like the starter options. I also saw avocado toast on their online menu but didn't see it on the menu there. Definitely would ask for that next time. Overall, I still give this place 5 stars for the great service, food, and decor. read more

We came for a late brunch on Easter Sunday. For the price, service and everything that goes alone with it needs to be top notch -- from our experience, it needs some work. We did not receive place settings at our table until after my husband's first course salad arrived. Then, when the rest of the dishes were ready, several runners came with the plates and essentially just shoved them onto the table wherever there was room, at one point essentially handing me my dish to hold while they tried to find places to put everything. It just seemed sloppy and haphazard. I ordered the avocado toast and it was a major disappointment. The poached eggs that came on top were stone cold and really undercooked. I looked around for my server so I could ask for new eggs but he was nowhere to be found. So I scraped them off, but they just broke up all over the plate. Really unappetizing. My mother in law ordered the waffle and she enjoyed it but it was nearly burnt on the bottom. The best thing on the table, honestly, was the French fries that came with my eight year old kid's cheeseburger. I thought the ambience of this place was great, but if you're going to spend nearly $175 on brunch for five people everything should be firing on all cylinders, and this restaurant unfortunately missed the mark. Could see coming back to the beautiful bar for cocktails but that's about it. I can get a way better breakfast for a fraction of the price at countless other places. read more

We were excited to try Patina 250 and made a date night of it. The decor is impeccably styled and beautiful to look at. Very familiar feel if you've experienced fine dining in a larger metropolitan city. We arrived a little early for our 8:15 reservation and headed to the busy bar for a drink. Everything was fine until we realized it was almost a half hour after our reservation time and we hadn't been sat yet. We checked with the hostess. The party at our table hadn't left yet. We ended up waiting another 15 minutes or so. The management was very kind and took care of our bar tab and sent over dessert at the end of the meal. But I wonder is there wasn't another way to seat us sooner - things cleared out pretty quickly once we had our table which makes me think there may have been room to seat us elsewhere. I digress. The server we had was excellent. The menu was intriguing and the food was delicious. We'll definitely be back for a special occasion (we're already planning a group specifically to reserve the large teal velvet booth in the back). read more

We had a party of three and waited 20 minutes till we finally asked a waiter to take our food/drink order. Then proceeded to order $150 worth of food. We waited another 15-20 minutes and still had no drinks served. We mentioned it to the hostess hoping for a response. She apologized and we waited another 10 minutes before seeing a waiter. There were three total tables and very minimal people at the bar while trying to be understanding of the scenario. You'd think they'd want to put some effort in to make profit on the little business they had on a Friday night. We walked out when the drinks hit 30 minutes. For a high end place, it was extremely disrespectful. I understand busy Friday nights with inadequate staffing, but this wasn't the case. There was little sympathy from the staff when we told them we were done waiting and wished to leave/cancel the entire order. Went for dinner last evening with a couple of friends. Made a reservation for 6:30pm on Monday night. The restaurant was far from full when we arrived, but by 8pm, the joint was hopping! We split the pierogis,- you get 2 big pierogis, they were good. We all got the crispy chicken which was yummy. For sides, we ordered the mashed potatoes, which were delicious, light and fluffy and the onion rings, which I had read good reviews about, but I didn't think they were very good, just boring. We got the chocolate cake for dessert, which was divine!! Unfortunately, the coffee was cold. I had heard such wonderful things about this restaurant, I was somewhat disappointed. My friend had the double-cut pork chop, which was extraordinary, and I had the tuna poke and Chef's Market Vegetable Platter - the menu really does have something for everyone and everything was fresh and delicious. I had a business lunch here today and was very impressed when I walked in. The restaurant was beautiful and the food was great. However, I felt the staff was watching my every move. I do not like to be starred at while eating. Also, as I was finishing my soup a manager snapped his fingers at my waitress and pointed to my bowl ( this was his way of telling her to clear my dish). The waitress promptly came over to remove said bowl, however, I was not done as I was planning on dipping my bread in the remaining soup. That gesture by the manager alone turned me off. After this I just felt uncomfortable. Also some may think this as being attentive but I felt that every time I took a sip of my water, someone was coming to refill it. To me it was overly attentive and disruptive to my conversation with my colleague. If it hadn't been for the managers gesture to my waitress I would have given this place another try but because of it, I wont be back. read more
