The amount of food you get for their prices. My husband order surf & turf. He got a 3oz filet mignon with 3 small scallops for $39.99. When we complained about the portion, instead of offering a little more filet mignon, the just took the meal off of the bill. Even the scallops were very small. read more

I went there with my grandson for lunch a few months ago and the food is always OK. The lobster macaroni and cheese is always really good and my grandson ordered the softshell crab and that was good. Been awhile since the last visit. The decor hasn't changed much over the years which is fine. As far as the food it wasn't as good as I remember in the past. Both my wife and I got the Crab Imperial bake with scallops. Overall the taste was very good for the bake however the scallops weren't cleaned enough and we ended up chewing sand. The sides that I got were horrible. The lemon herb rice had too much lemon flavor and almost tasted sour. The onions in the vegetables were so burnt I can't believe they actually served it. The server was non existent after serving our food. I had to order a refill for my iced tea from another server. I did get an order later of the Jersey Deviled Clams. Simply horrible. Basically finally chopped clams that I couldn't taste in a ball with a lot of breading. read more

My husband and I have eaten at ALLEN's several times. The seafood is always fresh and delicious. It's a very cozy little location..

No complaints. Nice little spot , cold beer . Had oysters , scallops, sea bass. Some of the reviews seemed a little harsh. I'd come back .

I've dined at Allen's during trips to the Pinelands, and they do not disappoint. I think I'm safe in calling them a local institution. Solid seafood that satisfies and tastes fresh. If you're a seafood person, I'll wager you will like it. Service is good. read more

While the menu is not the same as I remember as a kid, the food we got this week was good. The fried shrimp with Rangoon was good as was the sauce (pictured) - from specials menu. The Cole slaw is the same as always - good. The fries were also seemingly hand pulled and good/big. Crab cake is not like what you get in MD but that's anywhere around here. Very nice server who was all alone but fun. Charged us for an extra slaw but for $3 didn't say anything. Glad this place is still around. read more

We ordered fried flounder, house salad and clam chowder and spend slightly over 100.00 We ordered carry out, when we opened our meal, the mashed potatoes were missing and the flounder smelled old, the salad was wilted and had like three tomato's, but chowder was okay. Went here on a recommendation & was so disappointed. All the food was frozen, because it all came out to us half uncooked. Shrimp was golden brown on the outside, but raw on the inside. The fried scallops were full of water. The tuna was the worst cut I have ever had. All the dishes lack any flavor too. Please use some salt, pepper & garlic... it will help. This place is right down the street from me, I love coming here with the girls. We usually get the usual which is the coconut shrimp and whatever clams is available. It's pretty good and the service is okay. The design of very sea themed and the bathrooms look like your inside of a ship. It really really lacked any additional flavor. Not much added here. It was just so bland. I can say the serving was plenty. My son got the all you can eat crab legs. He was happy and you could tell they were decent quality. His came with a side of cheesy crab fries which were delicious and two little clam hush puppy things which he really liked. I've never been so sure that I'm going to get food poisoning after eating someplace. First off waitress brought us out dirty plates that were clearly dirty. Clam fritters were undercooked. Tartar sauce was warm and had a yellowish tint. The drunk and steam clams was like playing Russian roulette you never know if you're gonna get a bad one or not. I wish I could give it more than one star. I have been going there for a very long time. It used to be my favorite place to eat out. The prices are outrageous. The portions are small the food is not well cooked. They used to be known for their fried scallops and shrimp. They were perfectly breaded and perfectly fried. Now they are over fried undercooked on the inside and full of water. I'm not even sure how that's possible. they took away the delicious rolls they took away the horseradish and crackers, and they took away the BYOB. Allen's was always one of my favorite go to restaurants while spending time at my Grandparents on Great Bay. I was back for the first time in years recently and can absolutely say I will never return- whoever bought this gem of a place should sell it and start selling drapes instead because seafood is not his game. First thing I was surprised at was no more BYOB! Now you can pay for overpriced drinks instead. No more oyster crackers an horseradish on the tables was a disappointment as well. Little did I know the real disappointment was yet to come. This place needs a chef!!! How can food be brown on the outside and cold on the inside? and soaking wet as well. Frozen? I had the crab imperial and it was absolutely amazing pure crab meat!! We loved the food so much we came 2 days in a row.

I'm not sure this place would even be the best seafood in New Gretna. Clam chowder was decent. That's about it.

Tonight again our bay oysters were incredible along with clams. Service is great. Thank you!
