We weren't super impressed with Patis. It's a nice space, quite big with lots of tables so you can truly relax and enjoy your pastry or meal. We dined in and our pastries weren't warmed up or anything. I really enjoyed the strawberry lemon tart, but everything else was just okay... the mushroom savory croissant and the cheese danish reminded me of something I could pick up at a deli rather than something I bought from a bakery. We ducked in here on a Thursday afternoon just to get out of the rain and have a hot drink. As others have noted, the staff are not only unfriendly, they are openly hostile. The two men behind the counter stood right in front of me talking to each other for several minutes while I was waiting to order and made no effort to end their conversation or acknowledge me. One finally summoned a woman over to take my order and she barely acknowledged me, no thank you, etc. The floors are dirty and the music is loud. We stopped in this place looking for a light bite before our evening event. Since it was an afternoon the place was semi-quiet. We were looking for some pastries and coffee. Upon entry we were excited to see the options esp. The croffle (waffle made of crossaint dough). I immediately ordered only to find out that they serve it only during dinner. Interesting?!?! As I expressed my disappointment, the manager who happened to be the one taking our orders decided to make it for me because she saw how excited I was. A+ for customer service! My friends ordered a pecan sticky bun & custom-made salad. We then grabbed a table and waited. It took awhile for the food to come out but we were happy once we tasted the food. The staff were friendly and helpful. Though I'm not sure if they had new staff because they needed a lot of support from the manager. I like the place. My slight recommendations is stronger staff overall and also there were floors benefits it was extremely hot days so was slightly concerned about cleanliness. read more

We waited for 15 minutes to get to the cashier, we waited another 15 to get our coffees, upon asking which one is ours, we were told to open it and smell it?!? Don't think that's hygienic.... Really wanted to like this place as it's right across from my daughter's school and would be an easy place for me to finish some work before picking her up, or for her to meet me when she self-dismisses and I can't get to pickup right on time. I've given it several tries but won't be going back. I've made peace with a $10 iced chai, but service is rude, bordering on hostile, and as a woman I've always felt awkward being there and rarely see other women frequenting the business (am I missing something?). This local mini chain has opened up a second branch on the UWS, a three-week-old location that's graced with a lovely seating area at the front, anchored by a pretty couch. Staff are very pleasant and the menu is truly vast, including everything from soup and sandwiches to an assortment of fresh baked breads, sweet pastries and cakes. We've tried a number of the savory tarts and found them fairly good when reheated -- the bottom crust a bit soggy from the vegetable fillings, not unlike their counterparts at Marie Blachere. A kalamata olive sourdough loaf was fresh-baked and fragrant, generously studded with olives -- wonderful at home with a generous smear of beurre d'Echiré and a light sprinkle of maldon salt. Baked goods are brought in from the flagship location in New Jersey, but if you get there early in the morning, the bread and pastries on offer are *almost* fresh out of the oven. Absolutely horrible experience. Came here with my fiancé to grab coffee. We ordered a latter with oat milk, and an americano. Waited 15 minutes and nothing was made. My fiancé got back in line to ask if they had forgotten about our order. A man that was waiting also came to the counter and complained that he's been waiting 25 minutes for his coffee and wanted a refund. My fiancé asked about our drinks and the lady (I assume the owner) said it's coming. And she continued to chit chat with her customers yet again forgetting about our 2 coffees. When our drinks are ready (20 minutes in) she shouted out the order, her colleague/staff whispered to her and told her that we are sitting on her right on the sofa. And she told him that "they can come get it themselves", not something you should say especially when your customers are waiting 20-25 minute for a cup of coffee. Very unprofessional, unfriendly (except for the gentleman at the counter), and very slow. On top of everything, she made the drink incorrectly and used wholemilk and then blamed it on us that it didn't say oat, until the gentleman that works with her told her that it is indeed oat milk. read more

A coffee took more than 15 minutes to make. Getting a table cleaned off required multiple asks, and a salad took about 30 minutes. This cafe is terribly disorganized. It took a half an hour for them to make a coffee, even after I reminded them of my order.

The food was really good - but this location did a bait-and-switch on us. The menu clearly shows prices for sandwiches. For example, an egg and cheese croissant is $10.95. The waiter took our order on a device, told us the price (without giving us a receipt) took our credit card, and left to hand in the order. After reflection, we realized that the bill was extremely high, and at the end of the meal, we asked for a receipt. The croissant was billed at $15.95, the $13.95 sandwich was billed at $18.95. When we queried this, we were told there is a small note at the bottom of the page saying different locations can charge different prices! And, the price was higher because they added a salad. As good as the food was, I won't be going back. Honesty is a good policy! read more

Used to be my favorite place even though I don't live very close. I used to suggest the place to many friends. Everything is delicious. BUT, .. a) My recent pick-up order, make your own salad, was missing quite a few of the items I had requested. No one called to ask me if I wanted replacements. b) Last Thursday I received an email offer for $10 off, in store, between 4 - 6 PM. I drove there yesterday, Sunday, arriving before than 5:30. The place was a morgue. No customers and no food, just a few pastries. When I asked why, I was told, " we have new hours and close at 6". Seems new hours went into effect last week. The notice of the $10 off did not mention that the store(s) close at 6 nor that the kitchen closes apparently much earlier, I think the workers said 5 PM. After I recovered from the shock. I left. It cost me gas, about 45 minutes in r/t travel time and I still had to figure out supper. c) A little later, I checked on one of the food delivery apps and found that according to the app, I could place a pick-up order which would be ready at 7:15 PM. If their hours changed a week prior, shouldn't they have updated hours across all apps?? I cannot seem to succeed at posting my screenshot confirming that. The above is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! Unfortunately, Patis Amsterdam Ave will no longer be on my radar. read more
