I bought a pair a loafers for $300 and couldn't return them because I walked to my mailbox in them. I'm not quite sure how many levels of bad service I received from my one any certainly only transaction with Patrick James. I'll post the email of my attempt to return these shoes and you can decide for yourself if you want to patron this company The summary is that I wore shoes for 45 seconds and they felt terrible on my feet. Sizing chart is completely inaccurate. For example, sizing for Robert Graham Royal Palms shirt on the Patrick James website for XL says chest size of 46-48. If you go directly to Robert Graham website, it says 46-48' is a XXXL. Not even close. So I ended up with a bunch of shirts that were one to two sizes too small. The return process is terrible. To get a refund, they charge you $9 or free exchange. But for the exchange, you have to wait for them to receive and process the return, then they give you the credit to shop again, then you're back to the complete uncertainty of sizing because their sizing guide is not brand specific and therefore completely inaccurate. Meaning, you likely will have to go through the exchange process again. I found the whole experience very inconvenient and not worth it. There are no stores in my City, so that is not a convenient option. Much easier and more options just going to Nordstrom's and other shops that offer a more up to date and convenient return/exchange process. I will not be returning as a shopper read more

The sale person here, Mark went above and beyond! He helped my son who never likes new clothes find an assortment of shirts and pants that he liked. Do not order online. I ordered 3/23. Item delivered wrong size 3/28. Exchange requested (at a higher price-original item out of stock) and as of today (5/29) , still no update. Customer service appears to be outsourced and they were unable to help other than offer to "escalate" my request (which the representative didn't know what that means except that I could expect an email in the next couple of days. Might be ok in their stores, but buying jeans online shouldn't take a month! read more

My fiancé came in here to get an opinion on a suit and ended up getting a perfect match. Patrick James has been amazing with how meticulous they are with their attention to detail. From helping choose an amazing tie, helping decide on an undershirt and even suit underwear- their sales people are amazing! They aren't pushy but they will ensure you are remembering even the smallest of details. Everyone there is amazing but especially Mark and Cynthia are incredibly helpful. I don't know the next time we will need to buy a suit for him, but we'll be sure to come back to Patrick James! read more

In a world, where men look the same in ill fitting shirts and over sized pants, Patrick James is a great store for a man wants something unique and fits well. There aren't many specialty (boutique) clothing stores for men, which is both good and bad. The bad being the distance you have to travel when you find a good one, like Patrick James. The good however is so really good! When you buy a shirt here, more than likely, you are the only person wearing that pattern or style. They don't crank out thousands of items made by workers receiving 2 cents per day. If being sartorially unique matters to you this is one of those stores where it can be achieved(to a degree). The staff was friendly and helpful; Jim, specifically, was a great help to me during my visit. They have cloths for every occasion, casual, business casual, business dressy/formal. They also have a wonderful selection of American handmade shoes by Allen Edmonds. If you're a discriminating guy who dresses for yourself rather than some image from a magazine than Patrick James is your store. read more

Patrick James is the only mens store in SLO County that I shop at. They have clothes and accessories that have great style. Najee, one of their top salesmen, is my clothing advisor. He knows what I like and goes out of his way to make sure I get what I want. He also makes spot on recommendations. When I shop there I feel taken care of. Their stuff is pricey, which is the only down side, but it also is excellent and high end. This is a top quality mens clothing store and without peer in San Luis Obispo. Do not be dissuaded by this one guys twice posted negative review. Ask for Najee and tell him James sent you. read more

Myself, my father, and my fiancé had an impromptu fitting at this location today for our wedding. I had stopped by earlier in the week by myself. The gentleman working was named Mike and he was extremely helpful even though he'd mentioned he'd only been there a short time. He told me that we'd be served best if we came back on Sunday to have Cynthia help us. He gave me her card and I left very pleased and excited to start this process. I'm disappointed to say the least. We started off by telling her we'd like to browse their selection and be fitted if she had the time. I told her that Mike sent us. She asked us a few questions and started picking options. We told her very clearly that we're not looking for anything in blue, black or gray. She ignored our request and began telling us that he would have trouble finding any other option due to his size (which is pretty common). I don't know much about tailoring, but with all the options they have in that store I cannot even begin to believe that she couldn't offer us something close to what we wanted. She was very sarcastic and condescending. She completely diverted our attention to what SHE thought would look best and not what we asked for. She had all of us feeling like we had to spend a fortune to get the "look" we were going for. Which is a beige/khaki colored suit. We will not be returning anytime soon to this location. Unfortunately they don't carry the AE dress boots I wanted in-store, I was hoping to see what they looked and felt like in person. They were also knowledgeable and tried to find similarly lasted shoes to the boots I wanted, so I could get a good feel for how they would fit. We were in a pinch when we noticed 5 days before the wedding the best man's suit had mistakenly not been finished: the seamstress in Oregon didn't hem the pants and the sleeves were completely unfinished. I came into the store to request help with measurements for a tux. The manager, Cynthia, reluctantly helped me after waiting around in the store for some time. Once I let her know what I needed help with, she made it known that she was not excited to help me with measurements. She asked some general questions and then proceeded to tell me how I was wrong about my waist size despite showing her what size pants I was wearing. I asked specifically for help measuring my inseam, which she did not do. When I asked a third time for her to measure my inseam, she refused. I then pulled up the email and showed her which specific measurements were being requested from me. She went on to tell me I wouldn't need that measurement. Overall, she was rude, unhelpful, and shaming. Very poor customer service. To be fair to the store, I have been in before with different employees and had a good experience. Even so, Cynthia's demeanor, lack of customer service, and condescension was enough to warrant a one star review. read more

I walked into this shop prepared to spend some money on either a collar pin if thy had one, or a new shirt for my cousins wedding. I walked in and immediately felt that I was in a hostile environment. The look I got from the sales associate was more along the lines of "What the hell are you doing in my store?" than "How can I help you spend money?" I don't know if it was my attire, or something else, but my tshirt and jeans (I had just come from class) were adorned with Oakley's, Apple headphones, and a Citizen, so I clearly had at least a little money to spend. He didn't even say "Welcome" or anything. I had to start the dialogue by asking if they had collar pins to which he replied simply, "No I don't have anything like that." I've been in the market for some new dress shoes recently, but have been having trouble finding a carrier of Allen Edmonds in SLO. I Entered the store and was immediately greeted by a standoffish sales rep that was almost baffled by my presence. I awkwardly stated my purpose -- finding some dress shoes. He made the process of telling me they didn't stock my size as painful as possible, and condescendingly directed me to Express because in his words, "I think they have shoes there". I then stated that I was looking for Allen Edmonds specifically, and immediately another sales rep entered the picture to let me know that they could order them online. Needless to say he didn't make any further effort to go through with that offer. I then let them duke out the details as I wordlessly walked out the store with my wallet happy to have not wasted its cash on this joke of a retailer. read more
