The first stop for a meal on a road trip can really set the mood. I got the second listed burger. For the extra $2 it wasn't worth it for a piece of lettuce and mayo since I have them leave off the tomato. The burger was very good. They offer a side and I chose a salad and it had an excellent blue cheese dressing. We both got the wild rice soup and that was one of the best, it was thick and had mushrooms. The flavor was just amazing. I had a sample of the fish and chip basket. The fries were the best I had with a unique crunch and coating. The fish were shaped like crab legs and I imagine in England they would be called fish fingers. They were delicious. This is pub food and no main dishes for the most part.The iced tea is very light and tasty. This was so memorable for us that we came back for dinner on the way back from NE. I got the pot roast sandwich, they give you lots of dipping juice. I have a feeling that anything you get here will be fabulous, and it would be worthwhile to try everything once. If you come in the side door, that is where the lower tables are and the bathrooms. They have a good railing to help you up the steps. The most beautiful black tile ceiling. The service was decent and the food was fresh and hot. I had the Thunderburger. It was definitely hot, but the spice overpowered any other flavor, so it was akin to eating a pickled jalapeño with the texture of a burger. Don't get me wrong! The burger was cooked perfectly and it was juicy too. It was just lost to the jalapeño. The waiter, Sean, kind of rushed us out of there and it was not busy. So, I'm not sure of the reason for that. Also, I noticed a strange sticker in the window when I entered. It said something about hate having no business there. It specifically mentioned people who have homosexual tendencies. While I am not one who hates these people, I do disagree with the morality of those actions. I think the sign meant that I wasn't welcome there because I disagreed with the owner's ideology. Patrick the owner took time to talk with us during a busy lunch rush. Since there is a collection of drum and bugle corps memorabilia we wanted to know more about his pub. My Daughter is attending the college in town, Gustavus, so we eat here a few times per school year. The atmosphere is good, fun place to share time with the family. Food is always good, beer is always cold, and most of the time we are pleased with the service. Patrick's is my favorite Irish pub. When passing through, I always want to stop and get their veggie melt and wedges with ranch. Awesome side salads, pizza and famous patty melts too. Spacious place with pool tables, dart boards, arcade games and a jukebox. Bar, tables, louge area, trivia and karaoke nights make a cozy, warm atmosphere. Lots of old photos on the wall. Nice variety of beers on tap & bottle. Service is usually pretty good. For some reason, if you go to Patrick's, you will create fond memories when you're there. read more

Been here a few times now and when it comes to restaurants in Mankato and St. Peter this is up there with the best. My bloody mary was spicy and garnished heavily. They also have half off pints for afternoon happy hour, and since I tend to favor slightly more expensive craft brews this was a major plus. They have thirty beers on tap and cover a wide array of styles. Atmosphere is relaxed; I've never felt rushed here. I'd call the place divey in lighting and looks, but it's clean and the service is absolutely fantastic. They're attentive and all seem to be genuinely sweet people. I've only been here in the afternoon, so I can't speak for weekends or nights when it's busier, but I've always been well taken care of. Food is just okay. Ticket times were slow at lunch so I can imagine it probably takes a bit at night. It's basic bar food, so I'd only get it to go along with drinks. I'd probably pass if I was looking for a nicer place for dinner. Overall though, Patrick's has won my business thanks to great drinks and service. I'll be back. read more

Called in an order on Saturday night at 6:30 pm. They called me to tell me that they could not deliver because they were too busy and could I come and pick it up. Not what I wanted, but agreed because I was hungry! She said call me when you get here and that it would be 25min. I got there at 6:55 and called. I was asked to wait and then hung up on! I called again and said I was here and they said ok. Now it is 6:10 and finally someone comes out with my order. I get back home and discover that nothing in the bag was what I ordered! I called and asked to speak to a mgr. and was told no one was there that night (Saturday). So then I told them what I got and they again said hang on and had to go discuss it with someone. They came back and said so do you want us to redo the order? Its 7:20pm now and I am starving so I tell them I will just keep what I got and credit my card because I spent more than what I got, plus I had paid a 3.00 delivery fee and was also taxed on that. She said no one there knew how to do that and they could just give me a credit. I said ok then here is what I got and what I paid for and it would be like a 7.00 credit. Then I asked how I would get that and she said to just tell someone next time I come in that I should be credited a couple bucks! First of all 7 is more than a couple and second, this is awful customer service and I expected more from you Patricks! p.s. by the time I got off the phone with this employee my food was all cold! Loved this place! (Even if it is the unofficial home of a competing drum corp...) I ended up here by chance when I came to town to see my husband compete in the DCA competition. Until I sat down and noticed all the corp decor (hey, it rhymes!) and the shows on the TV, I didn't realize I had come to the bar they were hitting up after the competition. Anyway, on to my experience: I did have to approach a barkeep to see if I could just grab a seat anywhere for a meal. But, you know, that's pretty much to be expected when going to a bar where I'm from. Maybe that's not the usual for other people? No big deal, when I approached the barkeep, she was friendly and my server came over promptly and gave considered thought to my questions while I mulled over my choices. I ordered the pepperjack potato soup along with the tuna melt and fries. The soup was perfection. Absolutely delicious. The fries were nice and crispy. And the tuna melt...it's pretty hard to mess up a tuna melt. However, it's also very hard to make a memorable tuna melt. And this was memorable. Needless to say, it also was delicious cold. I was not able to finish my entire meal so took half the sandwich with me. I popped it in my cooler and the next day, almost 24 hours later, pulled it out while at a rest stop and ate the rest. Still yum. if I have to complain, I was really looking forward to a Magners. A bit disappointed to find out they didn't have it. The Angry Orchard they did have was great none-the-less. Although it was also a bit odd that they didn't then carry a more local cider, like Crispin, since they didn't go the Irish route. But like I said, the Angry Orchard was fantastic. Great stop on the way from Minneapolis to Omaha. The Bloody Marys may actually be the best north of the Mississippi. The food was delicious. The wait staff was polite and attentive. The decor was entertaining with lots of beer taps and the area history of the drum core. I would highly recommend stopping if you are in the area. read more

We stopped by Patrick's for a quick bite to eat after today's car show in St. Peter based on the Yelp reviews. Patrick's is a very dark bar atmosphere when walking in from outside, it took a while for our eyes to adjust to the dim light. I would have to say that Patrick's seemed to be a very popular place for the locals. I noticed they sell their own Bloody Mary mix so decided it must be out of the ordinary and ordered a drink to sample. I'm not a fan of the mix and left the drink unfinished. That's not to say that many others do like the mix, just not me. The food was good, not four or five star good. The service was very prompt, friendly and efficient. There was a patron there, Joel, who apparently was celebrating his birthday. I found it disturbing that even though Joel was clearly intoxicated, the staff continued to serve him shots. I found this very unprofessional something that should not be allowed. Not only for Joel's sake but also for the other patrons on the patio that had to witness the drunk'n behavior. Food is decent, at best...as long as you stick to appetizers. The cost is outlandish, especially when they charge you for ranch dressing. Ordered wings, asked what kind of dressing would I like...charged extra. Ordered Buffalo chips, asked again what dressing...charged extra. Seriously??? They nickel and dime you to death. Went there yesterday during lunch, was charged again for dressing with a salad! WTF...I don't care if it is "homemade", it does not take a rocket scientist or expensive ingredients to make dressing. Anyone want a great buttermilk ranch dressing recipe...I will send it to you FREE of charge. Besides, the "its homemade" comment is dumb, is not all your food "homemade"?? Servers were rude, I was ignored for 10 minutes despite no one in the bar area. This is a small town, limited places to go eat...but trust me, there are other places where customers are treated well. Bonus, I went back to my training and told other colleagues my experience, they had the same...and we all are done going here. I really think this place has above average food and some A+ craft beers! To be honest I've only been here one time as I'm not from the area and was in town visiting some friends. My experience could have been a lot better if I had better service! We had a group of 7 and our drinks were empty a lot. We found ourselves asking "where is our waitress"? I ordered a flight then found out one of my choices was not longer available...no biggie I picked a new one...guess what that was wasn't available either. The waitress told me they were tapping a couple new kegs and she would tell me what they were once they were done...that took an hour. Food and beer = 5 stars ... Service = less than 2 stars. I loved the service, atmosphere and the live music on Saturday night. My husband said his food was good, but I have to say the chicken Caesar wrap was horrible. Based on how busy the place was I assume other meals are great, but don't get the wrap! I actually saw another plate w/ the wrap going back to the kitchen after someone tried it, so I know I'm not just crazy.
