We both let it run but it never got hot, not even warm. Then I noticed (after drinking several glasses of water unfortunately) that there was a crack in my water glass. I mentioned it to my husband and he said, "you should see the chips in the glass tabletop over her on my side". I get it that wear and tear happens, but these things should be caught before serving guests. And as far as the hot water...how do servers and kitchen workers properly clean their hands after using the toilet without hot water? So the food is fairly solid and reasonably priced. But be on the lookout for chipped glassware and table tops. And use your own hand sanitizer if you have it!

I was born in raised in Chicago, a town with a much larger Hispanic population, and I've been complaining since I moved to Monroeville 5 years ago that there really isn't much good Latin food in the area. Patron was the answer to my dreams. I don't know why so many people are complaining about the bright colors or the race of the wait staff. The reason for the non-Hispanic majority of wait staff is most likely since these guys this new restaurant on the other side of Pittsburgh, but still run the original place in Wexford. Just because they opened a new restaurant doesn't mean that they spontaneously multiply their numbers. As for the decor, if you're not into the bright colors, I suggest you never travel to the southwest, or for that matter Mexico. My family has been to Mexico numerous times, and this place is about as authentic as you can get. I forget the name of the province that the chef is from, but it is somewhere near Cabo San Lucas (baja california), and they're actually known for their tasty cuisine. My wife and I go into Patron at least once a week, and I've managed to try many different items off the menu. I think their tamales are just as good as the ones I used to get from my good friend's grandmother every Christmas. They most certainly will let you substitute rice for beans or vice versa, but I recommend both. For those that measure a Mexican restaurant by a burrito, I suggest you read up on the origin of that food. It is an American invention, so it's the last thing I'd use to judge a place. The Chile Relleno is great, as are the enchiladas with red sauce. Something I had never heard of, but thoroughly enjoy is the Chipotle Chicken. Oh, and be sure to check out their specialty Fajitas, some have chorizo & carnitas, and are wonderful! If you want real authentic Mexican cuisine, go to Patron. If you're looking for a giant burrito and the simple standard yinzer fajitas, go to Don Pablo's. read more

Everything from the eye-catching layout of all the beautiful scenic furniture y the use of bright colors on the booths y tables . I had the quesidilla fajita with steak chicken y shrimp . With lettuce cheese y sour cream . Not only was it extremely filling , but it was above y beyond SCRUMPTIOUS y Mouth Watering ! I give the chef of Feb 16th , 2025 the evening shift around 7 :30 pm my Most Sincere Compliments y 5 STARS into INFINITY , too ! I loved loved the beautiful Mexican y Latin Music they had playing . I think they're some of the best that I've ever had. Yes, they're that good. My wife and I like to get the fajitas for two, or I'll do the Grand Burrito or the Fiesta Burrito. The Enchiladas are also great. If you're looking for a drink or two, the house margarita is our favorite, but when we want a different flavor, we get the blue mango margarita, which is superb. Not a great experience…read more Our server (I'll call her "Regina" because she reminded me of Regina George from Mean Girls) set the tone as we took our seats, hurriedly asking us what we wanted to drink. I was still settling into my chair, but I said "Oh - OK, let me see," and flipped through the menu while the kids gave their drink orders. I realized after a few seconds that the drinks must be listed elsewhere, but I didn't want to drag things out so I just said, "I'll take a margarita." Regina gave me a pitying half-smile and said with withering condescension, "Uh, that's the drink menu over there," gesturing toward it (while she didn't actually add "loser," it seemed implied somehow). I wanted to say, "I'm very sorry, but you see I just sat down 3 seconds ago and hadn't even had time to look around the table to spot the drink menu. Could you maybe slow it down a little?" But I didn't think to say that until after she had speed-walked away. After about a minute had passed, she returned with the kids' drinks and asked us if we were ready to order. Our youngest got a little flustered and started to order but clearly hadn't made up her mind yet, so Regina took the hint and offered to come back. When she returned with my wife's and my drinks a few minutes later, she then asked us what we were having in a way that made it clear she would be taking our order now, right now. I wasn't ready but the others were, so I let them order while I quickly scanned the menu. We ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer, specifically the "Pickadippa" with queso blanco, guac and salsa. I was hungry and was looking forward to that as a starter. The appetizer was a no-show but the rest of our food showed up with impressive speed - everything we'd ordered was on our table within, I'd say, under 10 minutes. I'd barely touched my drink so far but that was OK, I was hungry, as mentioned previously. I tucked into my dinner, but my wife had the presence of mind to catch our retreating server and ask about the appetizer. Regina said she would check on it. Shortly afterward a manager came out and explained that our appetizer had been given to another table in error, who had claimed it as their own. So she kindly comped it and promised we'd have it soon, and we did. We were now halfway through our meals and had lost a lot of our interest in chips and salsa, but we gamely ate it along with our entrees. (I recount the appetizer incident not because it was a big deal - it wasn't, these things happen - but because Regina didn't take any ownership of it and left it for her manager to take care of. Our actual server never said a word about it.) When it came time to pay the check, along with my card I included the printout of the birthday discount my wife had brought with her (a nice loyalty perk that Big Burrito offers). Regina swung by, grabbed the check tray and started to hurry away, but before she had vanished I turned to her and mentioned, just to make sure she was aware of it, "We have a birthday coupon there for one of our entrees," to which Regina sort of grimaced and said, "Uh...OK?" as though it was completely unnecessary for me to say that, which maybe it was. But again, the frosty mean-girl disdain. In truth, she had treated my whole family like we smelled bad from the moment we sat down. Literally as though there was something repulsive about us and she could barely bring herself to speak to us. I can attest that we all shower daily and that my wife and daughters are not remotely repulsive. Me, I dunno. So, thanks to speed queen Regina, our entire birthday dinner lasted about 45 minutes, tops, from walking in to walking out. And that would be great if we'd been, I don't know, late for the opera and really needed a speedy meal. But personally, on the rare occasions when we go out to eat at a halfway civilized restaurant, I like to sit and enjoy my food. You know, chew it. I don't need hours and hours, but maybe a little longer than 45 minutes including drinks, appetizer, entree and (the kids') dessert. The food was fine, reliably tasty Mad Mex food. No problems there. And the kids had fun and didn't notice anything amiss, thankfully. But for me and my wife, our server's demeanor just made the whole experience kind of unpleasant. Maybe Regina was just having a bad day and I should cut her some slack. But I mean...it's hard not to take it personally when your server is not only rushing the meal to an almost comical degree, but also seems to have an attitude toward you from start to finish when you did nothing to upset them other than being seated in their section.
