When my wife and I decide to do a vacation, one thing we look for at least once is a spot that the locals chill in. While visiting Sesame Place this past weekend we found this place on Yelp and decided to check it out. This definately is the local breakfast spot in Newtown; the girl working the desk at the hotel we stayed in was from Newtown and confirmed this is the spot to stop in. Location is very nice. Right in the heart of historic Newtown. Old Fashioned Hardware store across the street. Little pub on the corner. This town screams Norman Rockwell. And so does Pat's. In a word, charming. So, I had the French Toast topped with blueberries and sliced banana. The toast itself was very good but the blueberries in particular could have been more fresh. The kids tripped out on some massive chocolate chip pancakes that proved to be closer to desert then breakfast. My wife had a standard fare; eggs over easy (which she said were too runny, even for over easy), turkey bacon and toast. She wasn't overly impressed and it is mostly for that reason I didn't hand out a fourth star here. All in all I liked it and would definately go back. read more

Did I just arrive in Mayberry RFD? What a great place to go for a delicious breakfast and hometown charm. I fell in love with our waitress Judy who could have doubled as my mom. This place is the best place to grab home style breakfast! The star of the show are their pancakes! In the fall they do an amazing pumpkin pecan pancake that should not be missed! Also, They do real seasoned home fries (as opposed to the shaved or grated hash browns that some restaurants call home friend). The fact that all food is served on mismatched plates and cups gives it the feel that your visiting someone's home for breakfast (actually, growing up we had some of the same plates when I was growing up). Girlfriend insisted on going here for lunch. She's been numerous times this was my first. It's extremely cramped so you're sitting inches away from other patrons. I ordered turkey club with potato salad. Sandwich had thick slabs of tomatoes which consisted of parts of tomato I would normally throw out. Turkey was also in slab form tasted okay but they really need a slicer. Bacon was good bacon is always good. Potato salad was decent but not kind I prefer most people would like it though. Sandwich was also served with two quarter sized slices of pickle they were sad looking. This place has a quaint charming appeal to it. Omg. Pancakes. This place was a great local find and now we always go on a Sunday. The service is kind and courteous and the food is all homemade. I don't usually go for pancakes but when you have seasonal ones like cranberries and pecans, or the normal offerings like chocolate chip and peanut butter, it's hard to resist. Other goodies include home fries, french toast, and the many varieties of omlets. When the weather is nice, it's a bonus to sit outside. As a family, we try to support local businesses. BUT, those businesses need to be worthy of supporting. The food was not nearly what I would have hoped for from a breakfast place. Pancakes were from a mix and tasted of baking soda. My husband did enjoy his whitefish bagel but that doesn't take much to toast a bagel and scoop some premade whitefish on it. This is a very quaint and cozy place. When they are at full capacity it can be a bit overcrowded and loud. But the food is always great. I just had their French toast with bananas strawberries and blueberries and it was very tasty. Try their homemade jams, they are exceptional. read more

Simply amazing!!! Everything here is great!!!! I don't drink hot chocolate, but when dining at Pat's I do. Their omelets have the perfect egg to ingredient ratio. Returned to this gem after a long hiatus and it is still the same - amazing. We ordered Eggs Benedict and the Meat Lover's Omelet. The service was fast, waitstaff polite and attentive, and food was great. The eggs on the benedict were done perfectly. Its always so disappointing when you order a benedict and the yolks are overdone. The potatoes were well seasoned and the portion was healthy. The interior seating is decorated and charmed in ways that can evoke a sense of home in just about anyone, outdoor seating on the porch is also available for anyone desiring a calm view of the main Newtown street. This is a cute small place. I haven't been here in a year or so. Because they do great pancakes, but the potatoes & other basic breakfast foods were burnt two visits in a row. You also have to wait outside on the deck until a table is available. I recommend going with kids who love sugary fancy pancakes and coco. read more

I love it here. It is a quaint old home in the center of Newtown Borough, with a lot of charm, and friendly faces. The food is always good (look for the french toast special with berries / and they have delicious salads too). The prices are reasonable, and while the portions aren't huge, I myself am always unable to finish everything. The only downside is that it is TINY, and so you are SQUEEZED in like sardines. We visit here several times a month. Food is super reasonably priced and delicious. The wait to get food is usually quick and reasonable. I love how the mugs don't match you feel like you're at a neighbors house for breakfast. Staff is very friendly. We don't particularly care for the coffee but Starbucks is down the street for after.
