The people are friendly and knowledgeable but the price markup on parts is horrible. They charged me $683 for a part that is on the shelf at O'Reiley's for $433. Shops typically get a discount at auto parts stores but even if they didn't it's a $250 or 58% mark up. Ouch! read more

If it could be zero stars it would. Brake pads and calipers were put on incorrectly. Resulting in massive failure of the entire braking system. Our own mechanic couldn't believe the brakes didn't fail completely while driving or ignite a fire. We trusted them with our daughter's car and they completely failed us. read more

I'm bummed this place is such a far drive for me but what a great shop. They were the only place willing to take my car in late on a Friday afternoon. They communicated with me upfront about what the cost would be and gave an estimate on how long it would take to complete. They even gave me a few extra days to think it over because the labor was pretty expensive and my car is pretty old and won't sell for much. Got my car fixed up a little under what they quoted me for and they sent me a carfax for my car afterwards too. I thought that was such a nice cherry on top. Car's doing great! Highly recommend. Patterson Precision Auto Repair next to Outlanders, 10/15/24 I took my vehicle here to have 3 things done...delete the fuel filter, replace the rear brakes, and replace the throw out bearing in the transmission. Less than 3 miles after the repair that totaled over $1300...the car started making the same noise. They said bring it back which I did. They then said well the noise you are hearing now was masked by the noise that the part we replaced was making. They now said I needed a new transmission, something they don't offer. It was the exact same noise as when I first dropped it off. I took it to 2 other mechanics, both of which diagnosed it as the part they had replaced. As a professional mechanic, they should've known the problem and not guessed. Instead, they replaced the part with the incorrect part or didn't adjust the linkage correctly resulting in the car making the same noise. I built the motor, transmission, and rear end myself. I'm very familiar with the car. I'd have done all these repairs myself had it not been 150° outside. Turns out, I should have done it myself. Then the rear brakes they replaced...these started squealing and the car would come to an abrupt stop when you let it roll to a stop. I had one of the mechanics at the other shop look at them. They had not been adjusted correctly and had been rubbing the entire time the car was driving filling them with brake dust. So my brand new brake pads have severe burn marks on them and I'll have to replace them myself. I ended up getting the Better Business Bureau involved and the business wouldn't even respond until the BBB had to make multiple attempts to get in touch with them. Their final response was "The customer is being unreasonable and I wish him luck with the car." I can document all of this. I am beyond shocked that a shop associated with Napa could do this kind of work and say that it's ME being unreasonable. I wouldn't go here to have my tires rotated. read more

The crew at Patterson's is top notch. They not only have the best automotive knowledge I have come across in my 20 years of driving... they are FAIR which is extremely hard to find in this industry. To top it all off, their whole team is just a joy to be around. I love going in and just chatting with them. I have a very "difficult" truck (1955 Chevy). I came to Pattersons almost 2 winters ago with engine problem I was having with my truck with nearly 400,000 miles. I was talking with Verne about trying to find a used engine that they could change out for me. I had nearly said farewell to my truck that I've had for almost 20 years. He told me to try something before I went this route and actually GAVE ME the stuff to put in my engine, yes he gave it to me to try. This is simply the only shop in Nolensville that I trust to know my cars. I have a Volvo XC90 and a 1985 Chevy truck. They always know what to do with both. It is very hard to find a shop that can diagnose without the help of a computer and these guys can do it. They never do more than what Is requested and I find that they really try to research a job before jumping in. There are other places where I have witnessed them try this, then that and never fix the real problem. I would use Vern and his crew without hesitation on any make and model. If I could give zero stars I would. I had a problem with small a repair they did to my battery cables in my Engine. Afterwards, my car wouldn't start because of the way the battery was hooked up to the battery cables. It's my kids car so I didn't want them driving a faulty car or being stranded somewhere. I took my car back to have them look at it. The owner told me I could use a new battery (I had a cheap Walmart battery) so I made an appointment for 2 days later to get a new battery and have them replace the poor quality terminal ends they had installed. The owner tightened my cables and said I should be good to go. That night at 10 pm my car wouldn't start AGAIN. I called the shop the next morning and asked if my daughter could come by and get the needed part replaced while she waited. The guy who answered the phone said yes. When my daughter went by the shop an hour later they told her they were " too busy" to do it. Other cars had come in to be serviced in the meantime. The owner was rude to my daughter saying that I had an appointment the next day and she would need to come back. For some reason we got pushed to the back of the line even though we had called and they knew it was a problem they created. When I took it back at the appointment time the next day I asked the owner why his customer service was so poor. He was extremely rude to me. I then told him I would post a review online and he told me he would call his car repair friends and blacklist me from other repair shops. The fix took less than 5 minutes! Took my Tahoe to them back in June because it would not start , took them 3 months to perform the labor and shortly after the labor was performed it flooded on their property . I was told that their insurance doesn't cover "acts of God" . They did flush my transmission and change my oil and detail my vehicle but beyond that still charged me almost $1,200 for the CPU , Battery , and Fuse box replacement they performed . 2 weeks later my vehicle won't start and is doing the same thing as before . Do not trust your vehicle with these people , now they are trying to dodge the warranty on the parts that more than likely got ruined . I'm sure if I bring it back to them they will lie about what is causing the issue in order to make more money from me Not to mention I got my vehicle back with a brake light now on , check engine light , multiple codes , AC no longer working , stereo system no longer functioning , no defrost , rear back up parking assist broken , power seats non-operable . If you don't have specific flood insurance on your vehicle DO NOT GO HERE , they will ruin your vehicle and fast talk you out of being responsible . Mind the fact that apparently this happened to them in the flood of 2010 and they decided not to prepare for a similar flood happening again so I'm at a loss because of this . Currently taking my vehicle to the Chevy dealership due to the fact I would never trust to drop off my vehicle here to have them do anything . Also I am contacting a lawyer to see what can be done . My entire family used Patterson's as our only auto repair place. My parents, my sister, my cousin and my family. In total, we have taken 8-9 cars there over the years. A couple of years ago, their service started going downhill. When the owner did not take a role in fixing or diagnosing our vehicles, the quality of work showed. Time after time, each of us were spending more time with our vehicles in the shop than not. Finally, we took our vehicles to the dealership and found that everything we had replaced over the past 3-4 years was not properly installed (fan motor wired incorrectly) or had sub-par parts used that wore out too quickly. One by one, each of my family members did the same thing. Patterson's may be more affordable in the beginning than the dealership, but the quality of workmanship and parts used caused each of us to have to replace each part they had replaced. We now use a Doctor's Automotive in Smyrna because they are trustworthy and their quality workmanship shows. Plus, they removed my review that I made in 2013 from their Yahoo business page. That's why I decided to come to Yelp, where reviews can't be removed to make themselves look better. read more

Watch out for old school price gouging techniques here. The owner Verne does know cars but not a thing about customer service or todays informed consumer. If you have him diagnose a repair issue and then fix it he charges you a full hour diagnostic fee (regardless if you do the repair there). Most places apply that charge to the repair. But that's not all. They charge a 70% markup on all parts used in the repair. So a normally $200 part will cost you..$340. If you try to get your own parts to avoid the high charge they then raise the rate of Hourly work to $100+ to accommodate. Also..they charged me a crazy $41 Hazardous material fee when I didn't use any materials at all. Verne told me it was for Shop rags and other various systems they use. $40 for shop rags? anyways verne doesn't do most of the work anyways so any experience there is lost. Also the lady up front is TERRIBLE and I mean awful at customer service. I would avoid this place because i guarantee you will pay more for less. AVOID! read more

Vern and his staff were referred to us by an auto parts store on a late evening for my elderly mother. She'd driven here and their vehicle stopped smoking and leaking water when they arrived on a Friday evening. We were concerned since but due to us having to head out of town early Saturday morning we were concerned about it getting resolved in time for them to return early Monday morning. Vern gave us advice for towing and said he'd check it out the next day. We were in a bind and wanted to pick it up Saturday evening since the shop is closed Sunday & Monday. They stayed open a little late to test drive it and make sure everything was running fine for their return trip home. This shop is top notch on service! We are so grateful there are still honest repair people who understood our situation and solved our issue. He even suggested some future repairs he noticed while working on it. The people at this shop are very nice and friendly, however they charged me for something that I didn't want done, and when I complained, the owner admitted he was always looking for ways to charge extra to justify an expensive piece of equipment. the worst customer service ,the worst mechanic work and will not guarantee any work at all. I had a u-joint replaced on my sons truck and they called me and suggested I change the oil , change the brakes change the fan belt (too make easy money and screw the customer). That is ridiculous ! When I got the truck back the front u joint twisting the driveshaft and breaking the transfer case to pieces (pieces were all over the road) I had the truck towed too patter sons that night and called the second they opened up the next day (I called at least 10 times before my Verne would answer my call) he told me that what they did was not broke or that it was not the reason the front u-joint broke.I spoke with multiple mechanics and researched it (for several hours) and it was installed incorrectly ,poorly and it was not in phase with the front u-joint.He made excuse after excuse but I agreed too buy the parts if took care of the labor (I even got screwed on that deal). I finally got the truck back a month later! (I had too call everyday too make sure that the truck was being worked on (because they were not making any money while working on the truck the would fit me in for a few minutes here and there) . Well in less than a week the transmission went out and my new mechanic said it was DIRECTLY RELATED to what pattersons installed incorrectly and poorly! Pattersons was supposed to check the transmission and the whole drivetrain (they did not)! I ended paying Patterson 1300 dollars(remember they were going to handle the labor. Bullsh?t ) and then another 1500 dollars for the transmission. I ended up paying 2800 dollars for a front u-joint because of a mechanic shop that does not guarantee any work that they do. I give Pattersons mechanic shop a zero rating on customer service,mechanic work,customer loyalty and for not having a backbone when SH?T hits the fan. Please I hope that anybody that reads this will pass this message on and just maybe it might help Patterson get their stuff together. read more
