A good friend told me about her experience at Patton's, and it had been on my list for steak restaurants for a while. I finally tried it on HRW '24. Valet was complimentary with tip. You can also street park. I had dined at Savoir a few times before for brunch and dinner. I like that Patton's is an intimate speakeasy steakhouse tucked at the back. You wind your way past the kitchen to an area that's dimly lit with low lighting and candles. We were seated at a cute area near the bar that looked like they transformed bookshelves into seating with a small round table in between. Very cozy. I ordered the filet with truffle butter, mashed potatoes, and a side of creamed corn. All of the proportions were full size for sharing. I wish we ordered something different compared to both of us getting mashed potatoes. Next time maybe! The filet cooked medium wasn't as tender to cut through with what seemed like a butter knife. Unlike other places, I wasn't given a real steak knife. I thought the truffle butter had a bit of sweetness to it, which I didn't like. The mashed potatoes were great, and the creamed corn was good. It wasn't anything special and tasted similar to Rudy's creamed corn. I enjoyed the crab cake with salad and the creme brulee (not on HRW menu but upgraded for $3). I had a bite of the chocolate cake which was good and wasn't too rich. The strawberries & cream cocktail was my favorite, so I had two. Service was great, and we were regularly checked on. My friends and I came here to try the hidden bar inside of Savior. It's a restaurant within another restaurant if you will. The little bar with 4 seats, and 3 intimate 2 seater booths are at the very back of Pattons. I would not call this a speakeasy, but will let the public decide. Service - was top notch. The bartender who maybe in fact was the bar manager, informed us they planed to do a complete bar program makeover shortly in the new year, for a change in direction. Sounds interesting. Drinks - they had a limited NYE menu, but nothing was calling my name, so I tried off menu. I ordered a Bramble. But he did not have the ingredients. So I settled on Tom Collins. And it was fine. My friends enjoyed there boozy cocktails, G&T, Manhattan, and Martini. The bar is certainly moody in a good way with candles only and no lighting Would be nice place for an intimate date to have a drink. Review #800! Milestone review of a milestone birthday dinner. How fitting! When I think of a speakeasy, I think of a hidden bar, not a hidden restaurant. I was in search of an upscale restaurant to celebrate my birthday and I chose Patton's. I made a reservation a month in advance. They have complimentary valet or street parking. When you arrive, check in at the Savoir host stand and the staff will walk you through the entrance. The ambiance is very dark, intimate, and romantic. Our servers for the evening were Jules and Jared. They were both so nice and super attentive! The drinks were flowing! I started with the Bandito. It's a tequila based cocktail and it was good. My friends started with the Double Barrel cocktail which had a nice presentation. During dinner, we had a bottle of the Bear Cub Cabernet. It complimented the steak so well and I really enjoyed it! After dinner, Jared brought out complimentary glasses of champagne! At dessert, I ordered a Carajillo which is has become one of my favorite dessert cocktails. It's was very good! For our appetizer, we started with the Crab Cakes. It came with two and they were delicious and very flavorful! We all ordered steak for our entrée. I had the Petite Filet (cooked medium) with Black Garlic Butter ($5 extra). I tried to order it medium plus, but Jules explained that they don't offer that temp because it's difficult to achieve the midpoint between medium and medium well. The Black Garlic Butter was so good and they gave a generous amount (I didn't even use all of it on my steak). The steak was seasoned well and was very tender. One of my friends ordered the Petite Filet with bearnaise sauce and enjoyed it. My only complaint is that the steak and butter looked sort of small and boring on the plate. I would suggest using smaller plates so that there is less white space, or maybe adding a small garnish on the plate to elevate the presentation. We ordered just about every side dish on the menu. We had Creamed Spinach, Broccolini, Parmesan Fries, Lobster Mac and Cheese, and Mashed Potatoes! I tried every side except for the Lobster Mac. All of the sides were delicious! For dessert, I had the Cronuts. It was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time! The flakiness from the croissant and the Nutella and banana cream filling were divine! My friends had the Crème Brûlée and enjoyed it. Every course we had was so good. I didn't even have any leftovers which is unusual for me! I have been telling my friends about this place because I want to go back! They are participating in HRW this year, so it would be a great opportunity to return! They have live music on Tuesday nights. I believe there was a piano player on the night that we went. The volume was fine and we were able to converse normally. My friend and I went to Patton's Steakhouse for a girls night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. In true speakeasy fashion, we were lead to the area by our hostess passing through the bar area and into an unsuspecting door. She the steakhouse has a very cozy though upscale feel especially the booth seating area. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive throughout our dinner which we appreciated. To start I ordered the Italian in Maui as my cocktail. It was refreshing and light, a spin on an aperol spritz. We also ordered the bread service which I would absolutely rave about! I actually didn't read the description because my friend has ordered and it was such a surprise when it arrived at the table. It's cream corned focaccia bread (sooo soft and fluffy) topped with a garlic spread, green onions and pepper flakes. It was insanely delicious and packed with so many flavors. Starting with this is a must. For my main entree I ordered the scallops which were cooked perfectly. Buttery and rich in flavor. The plating was also very pretty and had pomegranates and other herbs (I think I tasted pistachios too but not sure). The pairing was lovely. As sides we had the risotto which I didn't exactly love the flavor profile, almost tasted smoky which I was a little surprised by. Had Valentines reservations here. 4 course meal. We waited 30 minutes for a salad. Then another 20 for appetizers. We didn't get our entree until 1.5 hours of waiting. Steaks. My steak was charred and way over well done. I wanted it medium. At this point my date and I were over the experience. I tried paying for what we had and I was told they couldn't split the 4 course meal price. I asked for the manager and they began arguing with me table side. Horrible experience. I was looking for a unique experience for a friend's birthday and stumbled upon Patton's Steakhouse. It's a speakeasy so I was immediately sold. Made the reservation for Wed at 7:30pm (those close at 9pm) via Open Table. When we got there, we were told valet was complimentary, but they accept tips. We then walked in to Savior and were taken through the wine cellar to get to Patton's. I mean, it really was exactly what I pictured and the experience was superb. Our waiter came over and provided us with the restaurant weeks menu ($55 for a three course dinner). I mean, you can't beat paying $55 for a steak that normally costs $65-$100 by itself. We picked our food options (I did the crab cake for an extra $10), the catch of the day and the chocolate cake for dessert. For my drink, I got a lemon drop. He got the Caesar salad, steak (which he is still raving about) and I forgot his dessert but it was banana something. He also loved his old fashion. The concept of a "speakeasy steakhouse" is killer and that alone is a reason to appreciate Patton's, which is located directly inside Savoir. For folks looking to experience the same thing is simple: make a reservation and have someone from the Savoir team walk you through a dark, dimly lit space to reveal a quiet, speakeasy vibe. No question, this is a date worthy / special occasion type of a spot. There are a handful of tables, ideal for couples and all with white table cloth. The lighting is sparse, which makes food picture taking a little harder than most. The table side tap lamp is fun, but that's about the best lighting one will have. On a food front, I've been pleased with the offerings. I think their tuna tartare was delightful and the beef carpaccio was lovely. I do think their mashed potato side was excellent with the black truffle and parmesan, but I would consider passing on the rest. The steaks themselves, particularly the ribeyes and the wagyu were cooked just right. Each bite was juicy and I didn't even bother with the sauces. The service was above and beyond. Everyone was extremely professional and very courteous throughout my meals here. While it's not in the upper echelon of steakhouses in the loop, it is still the kind of place that everyone should experience at least once. read more

Romantic, cozy, lovely. Pros: You walk in and check in with the Savoir hostess, they bring you back through the bar area through the wine cooler doors and... Patton's! Very cool. Lighting is dim with purpose. We got sat in one of the little booths by the bar, which made us feel like we were on little world. There was a live jazz singer which brought such great energy to the room. When she stops singing though there is a moment of just silence in the space, no white noise no background music. We came on a Wednesday and the restaurant was pretty full; they also do their "date night" special, great deal. Food was great. Comes out on a little wooden pushcart. We shared a wedge, crabcakes, and a filet and ny strip between us. Surprisingly, the creme brulee was my least favorite item. Cons: Our service was sooooo lackluster. Very disappointed by this, I feel like I rarely get service I have to ~write home about. He did not take any of my cues to open conversation... "first time here" "tell me about your favorite cocktails", no descriptions, no upsells. He rarely came around and when he did it was just like yall ready? I hated that he was my service experience but that's all we got, until the very end when we had a separate, more personable waiter come and bring our check and that was like, 2 seconds. It's Houston Restaurant Week and it's a perfect time to try out new restaurants you've never been to. Saw Patton's steakhouse HRW menu that pique my curiosity. Getting to Patton steakhouse can be a bit confusing for first timers like myself. When we arrived, we were at the parking lot for Savoire.. They share the same front door and there's no indication of Payton steakhouse unless you ask the hostess. You walk behind the bar to go into Patton's. Thought that was pretty cool and unique. As others have said, it is a "speakeasy steakhouse". First ever one I've been to. It's dark and we got a booth. We got our drinks and ordered from the HRW menu. We started writ the Caesar salad and beef tartar. We didn't realized the lettuce was going to be grilled and comes whole. It was different in a good way. Beef tartare was nice with capers and toasted slice bread. The bread was a bit overpowering and could not taste the beef tartare. Would recommend eating bread and beef tartare separate otherwise you may not taste the beef. It was delicious now that I figured out how to eat it. For our entrees, we got the petite fiilet and NY strip. The fillet was super tender and cooked as ordered. New York strip was delicious as well. We had the creamed corn and truffle mashed potatoes. Both were creamy (pun intended) and great pairings to our steaks. We ended the night with crème brûlée and chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was huge! Good for sharing. Crème brûlée was sweet and yummy. A little on the runny side as other indicated but taste wise, perfect ending to our dinner. Patton's is a place worth visiting. We chose this restaurant for a birthday dinner and I'm extremely happy that we decided to eat here. I love the speakeasy vibe. We parked on the street but there's also valet parking. You walk into Savior, mention you have reservations for Patton's and you are escorted by the hostess behind the bar, through the wine cooler and there's a romantically lit, intimate, space with dark contemporary furniture. There was a tea light at our table and we were promptly poured cold water into our glasses. On the reservation it was mentioned it was a special occasion and we were served some champagne which was so gracious. Our server was extremely polite, knowledgeable and wonderful. She explained their specials and explained that there was a crab mac and cheese offered and we promptly added that to our order. I opted for the Rum Drink, it was delicious. It was sweet but well balanced and a little tart. We ordered crab cakes to start. I got a wedge salad with tomato vinaigrette and NY strip - med rare with broccolini. The crab cake was delicious it is served with two and a frisée salad and a light dressing. My steak was perfectly cooked, there was a slight char but it was fresh off of the grill. The broccolini and crab mac and cheese accompanied it well. The mac and cheese was creamy and rich, not too runny or overwhelming. We also opted for a chocolate cake for dessert and they were sweet enough to transcribe "Happy Birthday" in chocolate sauce with a lit candle when it was brought to the table. It was one of the best chocolate cakes I've had, it was moist, not too sweet. The chocolate sauce tasted like melted chocolate ice cream. This restaurant is located in the same building as savoir. I booked our reservations a few days in advance and they require a credit card to hold your table. Our reservation was at 7:00pm, and the restaurant was almost empty. When you get there they take you behind the bar to a secret, beautiful and intimate restaurant/speakeasy. We ordered a berry nutty cocktail that was neither good or bad. Just an interesting blend of flavors. We then ordered the crab cake that was delicious. There was a lot of crab and not too much filler. The flavors blended perfectly! We ordered the prime dry aged rib eye, and the catch of the day (salmon) and the mashed potatoes. The rib eye was good, but we've had much better. I was disappointed that the only fish was salmon. It just seems so plain and you can easily find this at any regular restaurant. The mash potatoes were creamy, buttery and delicious. We ended our meal with creme brûlée. Parking is a little sketchy but isn't bad when your there early. We were brought back to our table a little late while the set up. The only downside was the amount of time it took to order our food about 30ish minutes or so. My assumption is that the kitchen wasn't quite ready. The biggest downside was that we ended up rushing through dinner because we had a play to make so I didn't get to surprise him with a birthday dessert. The staff was great though very kind with good recommendations. The bread service - bread was great with the topping not so much alone. You get about 5 or 6 pieces which are pretty thick. 10 oz filet - char was a tad salty but the steak itself was really good Truffle butter - if you want a butter i recommend splitting one because they are a pretty good size. Mashed potatoes - the best side that we had! They were delicious! Asparagus - they were cold which was disappointing but due to time constraints we didn't say anything. Hush puppies - not what we thought they would be at all. They are very soft more pancake texture and dipping sauce wasn't for us. The experience of sneaking into the back for a speak easy was really cool however with the bar area being completely separate from the dining area was a big bummer. Just wow. Walking into the restaurant is an experience of its own! The staff will lead you through a section of the back service area then through a little wine room, which leads you to a large glass door that opens into a completely different restaurant. IT'S A SECRET I WISH I COULD KEEP TO MYSELF. We started off with the bread service, which had 3 different types of butter: black garlic, blue cheese and regular salted butter. ($12) I personally had the 10oz Prime Filet ($55), which was perfectly charred on the outside and cooked to a beautiful medium. The steak itself was seasoned well but adding the side of black garlic ($5) brought that steak to a whole different world. We're very keen on making our own steak at home but we would 100% come back here and spend the money! The table shared the sides: Broccolini ($14), Parmesan Fries w/ aioli ($12) and the Crab Mac & Cheese ($22). I would absolutely order it all again but specifically that Crab Mac & Cheese because the chunks of crab was plentiful and surprising. The Patton's Old Fashioned was surprisingly priced at $15, which includes a bourbon that is washed in wagyu fat and topped with IPA foam. The delivery to the table is not one to be missed as they have it in a little treasure box. As the waiter pulls it out, the dramatic effect of the smoke is definitely entertaining. We ultimately spent a good penny of over $450 within a table of 4 but we absolutely cannot wait to go back!!! read more

I have been twice now, and both times were good with the first being great. The menus do change in terms of side, dessert, and appetizer offerings. Steak was delish. First try was with chimichurri - awesome, second with marrow butter - not impressed. I do not recommend the hush puppies either; they looked like mini sausages and did not have the flavor of a hush puppy. The scalloped potatoes were not a favorite either. I preferred the creamed spinach and definitely the asparagus. I would pass on the fig crème brûlée though taste was ok. Service were good though better the second time, however it was a week night and not busy. We came here for our Anniversary. It was absolutely amazing. My husband and I LOVE speakeasies and love steak.. so finding a speakeasy steakhouse....? What an adventure! This place made our anniversary so special. The bungalow tables are in the bar area in wood booths that make the dining experience so private. We couldn't find anywhere that explained the bungalows, so we took a chance and it was perfect and romantic! The food takes the experience to a whole new level. Beef carpaccio and the tuna tartare were the best I have ever had! They were perfectly done. The bread service was the only thing that wasn't over the top. For $12, you got 4 rolls that weren't warm and didn't feel fresh, with house-made butter. We got it because when you say something like bread service, you expect something extraordinary. This wasn't. Save the $12 for dessert. The steaks were incredible. The broccolini was good, but too much sauce. And make sure you get the butters. Not what we were expecting, but so good! We got black garlic and burgundy shallot. The cheesecake was unique and delicious. I would have never paired those flavors together but it was perfect. The lattes were a perfect ending. Speakeasy steakhouse tucked behind the wine cellar at Savoir. (you need a reservation through Resy). This is a fun concept but still has a few kinks to sort out. We came just a few weeks after it opened. You enter Savoir to check in with hostess who will escort you in through the wine cellar at back of the main bar. You enter a dim room with beautiful chandeliers and candlelit tables- nice. The menu is traditional steak with a few seafood options. Bread service was $12 for 4 rolls (we were a table of 4). We had ordered some great cocktails at Savoir bar before coming over and, once seated, requested another round. We were told they couldn't serve those cocktails on this side and we had to choose from their small cocktail list. That was a disappointment. On to the food. The yeast rolls were warm, fluffy and delicious. The whole table enjoyed them. Ceasar salad has flavorful dressing and croutons and the shrimp cocktail was good. The steaks- this they have nailed! Perfectly charred on the outside while cooked to order inside. Full of juicy flavor and everyone liked their steaks. For sides we got mashed potatoes, creamed corn, and broccolini. The favorite was the mashed potatoes and all thought the dijon in the creamed corn was too strong. They offered two desserts: cheesecake and chocolate cake. We tried and LOVED the chocolate cake. Overall we enjoyed the meal but service was slow, the server regularly reached over people instead of moving around the table to pour drinks, and the unwillingness to bring cocktails of our choice from the main bar set a poor mood at the table. Valet parking wasn't validated so $6+tip to park. It's a fun experience to try and the steaks are good but at this price point, we'll go to another steakhouse with higher end service. read more

This restaurant is located behind the wine room located in the Savoir restaurant. It was great to see my Fiance's reaction who thought we were going to Savoir only to be led through the secret entrance to Patton's. They had live music that fit perfectly with the aesthetic of the restaurant. The waitress was very sweet and attentive to us the whole evening. Be prepared to spend a lot of money if you go here but rest assured that the food and service will be worth it. Campbells don't hate me but the food was S, O, G, Double O, D.... I mean everything! From the decor of dazzling chandeliers to the live jazz music sung by the lady in red. One of my friends recommended this elegant restaurant. So I came here with big expectations and boy did this restaurant deliver. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left the service and food was superb. Patton's is a super cool concept; it's a speakeasy tucked behind Savior's bar. You need a reservation to get a table or seat at the exclusive bar. The hostess graciously greeted me with a big smile and escorted me to the hidden restaurant behind the bar. The bartender Ricky was quite the mixologist! He made me Patton's version of a Carajillo. The orange zest touch was phenomenal. He also made me a chocolate martini that was YUM. Our waiter Matt was so professional and kind. They have a red wine called Montinore Estate that Matt recommended to eat with our steak. It is a Pinot noir I highly recommend getting a bottle of it. It won't disappoint! The portions are quite large enough to split between two people. I ordered the 16oz Wagyu N.Y. Steak, side of the broccolini, and a side of the Parmesan fries. The steak was cooked perfectly; the fries have a touch of rosemary which I never had before on fries and I loved it. For dessert I chose was the goat cheese cheese cake. That was delicious and very filling. If you need a nice date spot, private meeting or the feeling of being high class this is the perfect spot. The service was top notch. My wife and I celebrated our 32nd anniversary at Patton's Steakhouse in the Heights. I did my research of steakhouses in Houston before I made a selection. I've been to a few, so I wanted somewhere I had not visited before, independent, known for high-quality food, and a unique dining experience. I was intrigued by what I read about Patton's. Frankly, I had never heard about it before, but I decided to make the reservation and told my wife to be ready for a special evening. Turns out I hit a home run! This little place charmed our socks off!! The ambiance is off the charts. It is quaint. It is unique. It has the coolest vibe of any steakhouse I have visited in Houston, and that's saying a lot. It's truly one of those places you have to visit in order to appreciate. A candlelight dinner,white tablecloths, decorated in a classy manner, friendly and knowledgeable wait staff, and the right amount of lighting. Again, this place has lots and lots of ambiance. It reminded us of a couple of small and independent steakhouses we have visited in New York City. It had that kind of vibe. As for the food, it was good. I would say it's no different than Taste of Texas, Vic & Anthony's, or Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. One might say they noticed some differences, but I have been to all of them. All taste good, but if you want a really cool and unique dining experience, bring your significant other to Patton's. We were enamored with this place. Unique ambiance in the Heights. Phenomenal service. Cocktails were delicious!! My husband and I had a dirty martini, whiskey sour and a French 75 (with cognac). The steak was absolutely Devine!! The caesar salad was delicious but the fish slices on it were unexpected, so make sure and ask to have them serve it without if you're not into anchovies. The brownie cheesecake is heavenly. Just in town visiting and decided to try this steakhouse. Patton's is located inside another restaurant called Savoir so make sure you tell them you're there for Patton's! The service was WONDERFUL! The atmosphere is elegant with dimmer lighting. I did not get a great photo of the steak since I didn't use my flash but I got well done filet since I am pregnant and it was still easy to cut and delicious. They just opened about 2 months ago so that's why they don't have a lot of reviews and photos, but I can see this place growing in the future. Thank you again for the wonderful service! :) read more
