I've been to Patty Boys several times already, and this place still keeps surprising me in a good way. The burgers are always delicious, the ingredients taste high quality, and the service is genuinely great. What I really like is that this is not a typical burger spot -- they have smash beef burgers, smash chicken, lamb burgers, bacon smash, and even a falafel smash for vegetarians. Everything feels unique and made with personality. My wife especially loved the falafel smash, which is very rare to find done this well at a burger place. I don't eat beef, so I love that they have a smashed chicken burger option (which is incredible), and they even have a falafel burger for vegans, which you really don't see often at burger spots. What stands out here is the wonderful service! They instantly make you feel welcome and are very helpful and informative. The restaurant is large and spacious, immaculately, clean and well run. I came with our family and we tried our way through most of the menu. My favorite was the lamb burger, the kids loved the chicken tenders as well as the beef and bacon burgers! A friend told me about Patty Boys on Sunset a few days ago and said it reminded her of the smash burgers you find in New York. I had never heard of it before, so we decided to check it out. I drove from the Valley through the canyons and ended up on Sunset Boulevard. It had actually been a long time since I'd been back on that stretch of Sunset in the evening, and it felt kind of nice. Sometimes you forget you live in Los Angeles until you're out somewhere like that again. One thing I always think about whenever I go to Sunset is parking. Surprisingly, Patty Boy's has a really generous parking lot, which already made the visit easier. The place is part of a bigger building, but when you walk in it's pretty spacious with plenty of room to sit. We got there around 8 p.m. and there were already a few groups eating, but it still felt relaxed. I ordered the Korean Banger because I love Korean flavors and kimchi. My friend, if I remember correctly, ordered the Oklahoma burger. When the food came out, I was honestly surprised how good it was. The burger was really flavorful and satisfying. At one point I even said it might actually be better than In-N-Out or Five Guys. The staff were friendly and accommodating the whole time we were there. We actually stayed until closing because I ended up doing a little work while we were finishing our food, and nobody rushed us out. Overall it was a really good experience. Easy to find on Sunset, plenty of parking, good atmosphere, and really solid burgers. The chicken burger was very good...the chicken itself wasnt flavorful, but everything with it made up for it. Decided on trying the cajun fries as well. So flavorful. The Chipotle honey mustard sauce and the Korean Jam hands down are the best sauces. So flavorful. My Review First off, Experience: 10/10-start to finish. Let's get into it. This visit was for a special occasion. A friend had been invited out by the owners to try or retry the food, and I mention that because it gave me the chance to sample a few different burgers and fries. That way I could leave my thoughts on more than one item. The establishment was very clean, inside and out. There was one small thing I noticed that bothered me, but it might have just been a personal quirk, so I'll save that detail. Overall, I was comfortable. Often when places are too clean, you get hit with a chemical smell that can throw off the experience, and I'm big on that but that wasn't the case here. The staff was welcoming, the vibe was pleasant, and I even had the chance to meet some of the folks in charge. They were genuinely nice people. Now, let's get to the food Classic Double - The name speaks for itself. When you're craving a smash burger, you want something simple and exactly how you imagine it and that's exactly what this was. A good ol' classic smash burger, no more, no less. Oklahoma Double (Croissant Bun) - This was my number one pick. I got to try it two ways: with the regular bun and with a croissant bun (the latter not yet on the menu). That croissant bun was a game changer, light, buttery, and the perfect alternative if a regular bun feels too heavy. As someone who usually sticks to a classic burger, this Oklahoma was just the right amount of spiced up. Both versions were great, but that croissant bun variation, I can't wait for it to be officially added to the menu. OG Chicken Patty - I was hesitant at first because chicken patties often come out dry, especially smashed chicken patties. But this one surprised me. It was juicy, flavorful, and honestly delicious. I'm not typically a chicken burger guy, but I'd recommend this to anyone who is. The Fries - I tried both the Cajun fries and the Parmesan fries. Personally, I'm a Cajun fry guy, and Patty Boys nailed it. The fries themselves were cooked perfectly and seasoned even better. I don't usually order Parmesan fries, but having the chance to try theirs was a nice bonus. They were so good, in fact, that I might actually start ordering Parmesan fries, though I'll be disappointed if anyone else's don't measure up to Patty boys. All in all, this was a 10 out of 10 experience. The food matched the vibe of the place, the cleanliness, the energy, and the passion of the people running it. I always look for good gluten free burgers. I was excited when I saw a new burger place offering GF options with pretty high ratings. However, Patty Boys was such a disappointment. The service was disengaging and unapproachable. The worst part was the GF bun. They were almost inedible and so dry that it didn't hold the shape. The patty itself was okay. A choose your own hamburger or there are a few pre-designed burgers. The choose your own option lets you mix patties and make the sandwich with whatever you like. We went with the Oklahoma and the Chilly Beast. A few options for fries, some fully loaded. We went with the Truffle fries. It took just a bit for the food to be ready. Thankfully, it is a good size place with plenty of seats. The restaurant is very clean, it is also very bright. Music and TVs going to keep the feet tapping and give you something to look at. We picked up the food and wow. Good size burgers. With so many toppings. But not overdone. Very tasty. We knew that we had a good size meal, but actually finished everything. The fries were good, not enough truffle oil, we barely tasted it. But there was plenty of parmesan cheese. But the burgers, we need to go back and try some other options. My partner and I showed up and ordered a couple of burgers, fries, fried beans and soft drinks. I was a bit surprised that the cost was close to $50. The falafel burger was soggy with no crunch. The crispy beans were really good, but the Cajun fries were soggy. The restaurant is new; it feels and looks clean. The person at the counter was helpul but I wasn't wowed by the experience. I also felt a little annoyed at a couple of things that the staff simply ignored. A homeless person wandered in. They gave him a cup and instead of getting water, he filled it was Soda. Clearly something was off, I wasn't sure if he was trying to talk to me or was talking himself and he stood there for a good 10 minutes. He then pulled out a knife and as he left, he kicked over the sign. There were only a couple of tables but clearly everyone was alarmed with the one woman asking if she could lock the door. The response was, I will get the manager. How about safety first? Later a group of guys walked in, didn't purchase anything but refilled their water bottles and grabbed napkins to blow their noses. In other photos I assumed it would be more than I received, I basically got a handful of fries. The service was the best. It's lunch time so my time is limited but the order was ready before i would sit down with my coca cola. This was so juicy with every bite. I like rap but felt it was inappropriate to only play rap. They need to turn the volume down a few notches, and add more variety of songs with rap only every 5 or so songs, or they will lose customers. Yes, it matters to older people. This was my first time and I got: -OG beef burger, single ($9). Dry patty. It was not bad, but not good enough to get again. Mustard was the most dominant flavor. I'm not saying it had too much, just that the other ingredients weren't flavorful enough. -Fountain drink ($3.50). -Filthy cheese fries ($9.50). Good portion. Decent taste. Not a huge fan of skinny fries. Total: $24.15 Took 7 minutes from ordering to be called to the counter; which is acceptable. It wasn't a bad experience and wasn't too overpriced, but the flavors weren't good enough to get me to go back, or enough of a value to return to try other items. I checked out Patty Boys today. They've only been open for about a month. I rolled in around 11:30 and the place was completely empty, which honestly surprised me. But right away I was greeted by a super friendly girl behind the counter named Anna. She had a big smile, great energy, and was happy to walk me through the menu since it was my first time there. She suggested I try the Oklahoma style with the bacon patty, I asked how big the burgers were and she said they're a good size, definitely filling, but I went ahead and ordered the parmesan truffle fries on the side anyway. The food came out fast and Anna actually brought it out to my table. Super sweet, really nice service the whole time. The burger was awesome. Two thick patties loaded up with melted cheese, grilled onions, and pickles, all stacked on a fresh toasted brioche bun. You could really taste that bacon blended into the patty, and everything had a good char on it without being dry. The sauce tied it all together. Messy, cheesy, and just packed with flavor. The fries were great too. Crispy and golden on the outside, hot and fluffy inside, with a solid dusting of parmesan and just the right touch of truffle. They didn't overdo it like some places do. These were light, not greasy, and super easy to finish. The inside of the place had a nice trendy feel to it. Light wood tables, modern decor, big TVs playing sports and music videos, and a red neon sign that says "This must be the place," which kind of sets the tone. It was clean and had a good energy.
