Pretty sure they sold the item I was going to buy. Said I was essentially "fraudulent". Tried to buy it for over a week while they were on vacation. Then ignored me after I said I could use a different card. Explained that my credit card company had called me for authorization because my credit card company was protecting me against fraud itself. Even offered to use other cards to pay for the item. Offered to provide identification in multiple ways as well as proof of residence. Offered to keep the item until payment cleared. They ended up just ignoring me which made it clear they sold it to another person even though it shows on my credit card as a pending transaction because I had approved it. WOWZA! Two thumbs (+ all my fingers & toes lol) high in the air for owner Katie and the shopping experience at Paul Duggan Co. It's not often I find myself speechless, but this is one of those rare times. I was in the market for my second men's Rolex. I was bitten by the bug my first purchase years ago (not at PD Co), plus I love jewelry, and Rolex still looks like a great investment. As in they hold their value pretty solidly. So, being a ordinary working man & modest wage-earner, I diligently & patiently saved for my purchase until I had enough to buy. Kinda like our ancestors used to do before the modern "I want it NOW" mentality took over. Katie the business owner took superb care of me, patiently answering all of my cross-continent questions & concerns. And the website is updated every week, just in case a trip to the Jewelers Building in Downtown Crossing is not on your daily route. I've never been to the actual store, but I've bought a few watches from their online store and it is definitely 5 stars. Pros: High end watches ($1,000 - $200,000) for sometimes up to 70% off their retail price. They are trustworthy, have a great selection that is updated every few weeks and you can save thousands of dollars on a high end watch. Cons: A lot of their watches are pre-owned, so if you only want a brand new watch, then probably not the store for you. But every watch I have ever bought from them looked perfectly new to me. OK, so my lovely bride of "only" 25 years wants a Rolex for our 25th year anniversary. As you know "Happy Wife - Happy life" but with 2 College tuitions and mortgage etc. etc. etc.... I decide to explore the used market. As you may expect I met all kinds; nice people with small selections, inexperienced people with huge selections but no real answers and everything in between. After hours researching on line I find a used Rolex forum and they recommend 3 websites - 2 in TX and 1 in Boston in the jewelry building. One TX dealer has a great site but high prices while the other has a substandard site with all prices listed as "Please Call". Are you kidding me? It's 2014!!! If you won't give me an on line price than I can't afford you or have time to play your game. Then I go to the Paul Duggan Fine Watches site and get a good selection at fair prices. I see 2 that I like and call and get Tim. Tim has 15 years' experience, was pleasant knowledgeable and flexible with my needs. 24 hours later I am shaking his hand and the proud owner of a gently pre-owned Oyster Perpetual Datejust. Tim was great, the cost was fair but most importantly I felt as if I was being informed and not sold. The new crystal, gaskets & guaranty made this easy for me. I noticed some fog in my watch face this morning after walking to work in the rain. The style of watch I purchased is waterproof, but it is also an acrylic crystal that's over 26 years old. Within five minutes, Tim called me to talk about what had happened and how to fix it. He provided some advice as to how to clear out the moisture and told me that if I saw this happen more often, to send it to them so that they could address whatever issue is causing the moisture to get into the watch. Tim also emailed me as soon as we got off the phone to reiterate my instructions for this evening as far as opening up the watch crown to release the moisture. Well I'm back! After doing a review for a tune-up for mine and my father's watch. My husband surprised me with a really nice watch from Paul Duggan's, a birthday present, which I didn't expect, there are no words to express how knowledgeable and courteous that this staff is when you walk in the door! Everyone is excellent, helpful and friendly without the attitude! I have known a couple of friends that have made multiple purchases at Paul Duggan, and they are always extremely happy and these people can buy "new" if they want. It says a lot about this place. Jeff was very helpful when I strolled into the store looking for a Rolex Polar Explorer II. What I value in Paul Duggan's shop was the overall honest conversation and ability to browse instead of feeling like I was being sold to. I'd say Prices are a 4.0, Service 5.0, and Store/Selection 5.0. While I did wait to pull the trigger, all the watches I noticed were in Excellent and near Mint condition. I've never been to the actual store but bought my watch 0n-line. Communicated through e-mail mostly which was convenient for me. I ended up trading and shipping a Panerai 233 watch for a Patek 5135G. On their site they rated the watch as 9/10. I would have given it slightly less but close. I did ask for speed pins replaced on the current watch strap but instead they just packed some speed pins. Communication and shipping 5 stars. Overstating the quality of their watch and not actually replacing the watch strap with speed pins 4 stars. I know I'm being a little picky but for someone who spent $28,000 on a watch, I think I have reason to be. read more

Price was great, watch condition was as described, and the item was shipped to me quickly (I ordered on a Saturday, they are closed on the weekend and they shipped first thing Monday morning and I received on Tuesday). After seeing the watch I was interested in online, I went to the store and spoke to Tim. He was patient and informative. I walked away with a Rolex Explorer II for a decent price with warranty and insurance appraisal. It kept very good time, but, within 2 weeks, stopped after around 20 hr. of not wearing it, so I brought it back. They fixed the auto-wind issue as well as another issue with the crown and sent the watch back within a week all fixed. The watch was represented as having been thoroughly cleaned and adjusted prior to my purchase. Had the watch worked as it does now the first time around, they would have gotten 5 stars. You guys are right - they are rude. I called about a watch I saw online. The lady who answered the phone did not say "paul duggan watches", or whatever, so at first i thought i had the wrong number. When i asked about the watch, she said yes, they have it, and it took me a little while to figure out that the watch was not new. Also, their website says open m-f, saturdays by appointment. When i told her i'd like to come in to look at it, she says again, yes, the watch is here. But when i said i was only going to be in town saturday and sunday, she made no offer to set up an appointment for Saturday. By then i was not that interested in doing busines with them anyway. This watch is readily available elsewhere. Must be nice to work at a place where you can freely alienate customers who are ready to drop 20k on a watch, and who might have shopped with you again when it's time to upgrade! read more

I hardly ever write reviews but I felt it was important to post this one. I purchased a vintage Rolex watch about 8 years ago from P Duggan. That initial experience and all others have been amazing. After a number of years, my watch had a scratch on the crystal and much to my delight was easily buffed out by P Duggan. Before going back to P Duggan another Jeweler told me it had to be replaced. Recently, I needed to repair a hinge on the band. Both experiences were first class. They were friendly and helpful and delivered exactly what they promised. They deliver truly top notch customer service. I continue to love my watch and when I'm ready for another I will happily return back to P Duggan Co. I was very fortunate to learn of Paul Duggan Fine Watches and their very professional Sales Manager Tim Driscoll when I was trying to trade in an Omega watch and apply the trade in allowance to a different watch that they had. Their trade in allowance and sales price of their watch were very reasonable and I have been trading watches with various dealers for the past several years so I do have quite a bit of knowledge. I am somewhat of a collector and from my first telephone and e mail contacts with Tim Driscoll, I felt very confident that things would go very smoothly and they did. The watch that I bought from them was shipped overnight and was everything that they had represented. It was in outstanding condition and actually better than I thought it would be. No question that I asked was ignored or minimized and when they did not have the answer, they graciously researched the issue and then got back to me within a day or so. Attention to detail seems to be what they are all about. This is not seen very often in even the very high end retail establishments that I have encountered. A couple of very minor follow up issues were also responded to quickly and handled as well as I could have ever expected. It is rare to find this degree of professionalism in any transaction done these days and this was by FAR the best watch purchasing experience that I have had. Paul Duggan and Tim Driscoll have made a very satisfied customer out of me and I expect to have more future dealings with them. I recently purchased a Rolex Yacht-master from this establistment. The transaction, however, was not splendid. First, the upside: The watch is in great condition, it was shipped out overnight, and it is, in fact, authentic. But the downside... So I found a watch online, then negotiated the price via email. After a string of back and forth emails (nicety-free on their end...), I sent an email toward the end of the day to confirm the final price. No response. I then received an email the following morning telling me the watch was sold. Strike one. At this point I was aware of one other similar watch the store had available, and I was informed of another. I decided I was interested in the second watch I had been aware of, so I negotiated a price for the watch, including shipping. I was told I would receive a confirmation email with my invoice and tracking information. After receiving nothing for hours, and given that my first-choice watch was sold out from under me the day before, I monitored my credit card transactions online. When the charge finally went through several hours later, I had been charged an additional $40 for shipping. Strike two. I called to dispute the charge, and the woman I dealt with, Shirley (who, by the way, had zero personality and was borderline rude...) told me that was not what she had agreed to, and further, she had agreed to sell the third watch, not the watch I had been negotiating (despite the fact that I had referred to it by its differing series letter all along). She continued to tell me that she couldn't sell me the watch I wanted for the price we had agreed on. Strike three...normally, but I REALLY wanted this watch!! So after responding in a surprised manner, I asked her what she would sell the watch for. She put me on hold, then came back and said she'd sell me the watch for what I had offered, including shipping. I felt a little uneasy about this since the transaction had been quite rocky, so I asked for an invoice to be emailed along with the tracking information. She sent an email with the invoice at the end of her day on the east coast, but there was no tracking information. Mind you, my credit card had been charged. So although it was merely mid-afternoon on the west coast, there was nothing I could do to follow up until the following day. I called first thing the next morning to inquire. The response was simply, "I thought I sent it to you yesterday, I'll email it now. Thanks, bye." Hang up. Again, no personality, no "thank you for your business", nada. In conclusion, yes, I got the watch I purchased and it was in the condition that was advertised. But service was TERRIBLE and I would NOT recommend this establishment for that reason. I became suspicious and took it to be checked for authenticity. There was absolutely nothing authentic about the watch! They get one star for the prompt return. I am shocked and horrified that a place as established as this one would actually sell a fake watch calling it "authentic". I got a great deal on a new watch from this store. I paid cash plus a trade, and needed an extra link, but the bottom line price was a very good deal, much better than I would ever expect from a retail store! I haven't priced their Pateks, but they seem to have a pretty respectable selection, and I've even seen a couple of lovely Audemars in their cabinet. If you like vintage Rolex, they've got some great offerings, and while they aren't cheap, certain watches like the red text Submariner aren't easy to find, either. I got my money back for the trade-in, applying it toward a new two-tone for 25% off retail price. It came with the full 5-year factory warranty, plus the extra link required to fit my ample wrist at no additional cost. We hit a bit of a snag concerning the paperwork on the trade-in, but it was eventually sorted out, and I appreciate Paul's willingness to take care of that. Just a few things to be aware of: If you want to buy here, preferably have cash, and since parking is nearly impossible in downtown Boston during their normal business hours, you may want to have a friend drive you. I certainly wouldn't recommend taking public transportation while carrying large amounts cash or uninsured merchandise. It took about ten days to get the watch plus the link, and Tim had no problem drawing up a free appraisal for me, which was more than sufficient for my insurer.
