I left very disappointed. I am in the HR field and I have an understanding of how Primary and secondary insurances work, but there really was no arguing with the doctor. They had great reviews and are close to home. I just picked up my first pair of perfect glasses from them! They have equipment my last optometrist did not have. Dr. Flores gave me a very thorough exam and worked with me to dial in my very difficult and different prescription. That was last year. This year, the same great customer service and exam doctor. This is against CA law and bad practice to impose a cancellation policy based solely on a sign in their office, especially for patients that are scheduled on the phone and confirm on the phone. I have since found a new optometrist and guess what? They text their appointment confirmation so the patient can confirm and guess what's also included in that patient confirmation text? Their cancellation policy!

Even though I went over my allowance they gave me a discount applied to the overage of the amount. Gina was very awesome! She made sure my glasses were to my satisfaction which they were. They are Oakleys and they are a much thinner frame but I like them. One other thing, my husband was not able to be with me do to being home bound in his bed but Gina took the time to allow my husband to chat with her on FaceTime on my phone about his insurance. I appreciate how she went above and beyond to make this accommodation. Next year I'll find more awesome Oakley's with my insurance but until then thank you Eye Spy and Gina for being awesome as usual.

My first time trying Costco, and Dr. Kwon is excellent, and scheduling the appointment online was very simple; I was seen immediately. They accept VSP insurance among others--visit their website or give them a call for more information. After the exam, I brought the prescription to the Costco Optical located just outside the office, where the friendly staff assisted me in choosing and buying multiple pairs. Both were designer brands and came to about $300. You can't beat the prices at Costco. I highly recommend Dr. Kwon and the Hayward Optical office

When I arrived for my scheduled appointment, I was informed that he was not there. What was most frustrating was that I had not received any courtesy call or notification beforehand to let me know that he would be unavailable. I was offered the option to have my eye exam completed by another provider, but I was told they would not be able to perform the contact lens portion of the exam, which was the primary reason for my appointment. I ultimately rescheduled and, when I later knew I could not make the appointment, I provided notice several days in advance. After some time, I decided to give this location another chance and scheduled another appointment with Dr. Paul. Before making the trip, I called to confirm that he would actually be in the office. Unfortunately, I was again told that he would not be available at the time of my appointment. When I explained that I specifically chose the later appointment time because I work during the day, the representative I spoke with was extremely rude and dismissive. I ultimately asked her to cancel the appointment because I did not want to experience a repeat of my previous visit. I was then told that I had cancelled three appointments, which is incorrect. I had only cancelled one appointment. At this point, the repeated scheduling issues, lack of communication, and poor customer service have completely eroded my confidence in this location. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this Costco Optical location for eye exams. I expected better communication, professionalism, and customer service, and unfortunately, that was not my experience.

The office itself has limited eyeglass/sunglass frames to pick from. Once my exam was complete, I reviewed my prescriptions. My eyeglass prescription only included my sphere. It did not include the cyc, axis, near add, int add, h prism, or v prism. I assume these aren't needed? I browsed their inventory and compared options I liked in store to online pricing. Online pricing was a better option for my preferences (as expected). Nonetheless, a decent place for exams.
