I absolutely love this entire staff and Dr. Johnson! They are nothing short of phenomenal. Every single time I go in there it's a great experience and they are so accommodating and I'm just so happy with the customer service that I received when I go there. My eyesight changes all the time, and my eyes are so picky when it comes to Contacts and this doctor is amazing, he has literally given me so many different pairs of contacts as trials, and I don't have to pay for every single one of them which is so nice! read more

I saw Dr. Johnson for the first time in 2009. In the years that have followed, Dr. Johnson's abilities have become less and less prevalent, instead, his skills overshadowed by the attitude of the rude staff he has running his office. During our family's last round of eye doctor appointments in 2019, they dramatically oversold a pair of glasses to my 11 year old daughter. When I raised the issue with Dr. Johnson, he agreed that it was excessive and offered to work out a resolution (which is what you might expect from a professional). In 2020, our prescription cycle fell right at the beginning of the current COVID-19 pandemic. I left several messages with Dr. Johnson's "answering service" about my expired contact prescription and desperate need for a new prescription. As soon as I was able, I made an appointment for me and my daughter. Today, I showed up to the office about 15 minutes prior to my appointment. I was rudely greeted from a woman who asked "where's your paperwork?" When I replied that I didn't know I was supposed to bring any paperwork, she thrust a copy in my hand and told me I would have to leave the office to complete the same. After completing the paperwork, I reentered the office and handed the paperwork back to the rude woman and asked, "how was I supposed to have known that I needed paperwork?" Again, in the gruffest of tones, she pointed at a co-worker and said, "she left you a voicemail message." When I disputed her allegation (with phone in hand and no calls or voicemails from Dr. Johnson or any number on the date in question), she scoffed and told me that I was wrong. Based upon the significantly declining service from this provider, I told the rude woman to cancel my appointment (and my daughter's upcoming appointment), and advised that we would be taking our business elsewhere. I asked if I could speak with Dr. Johnson before I left. At this point, a gentleman in the office inserted himself into the situation, walked to the front glass window we were speaking through, and slammed it shut in my face. I asked what that was, and he said, "It's my dad you want to talk to." Nepotism aside, I would think that Dr. Johnson's son might have a little more decorum in representing his "Daddy's" business. Ultimately, Dr. Johnson came out before I left - and I shared with him my disappointment and frustration with the poor customer service offered by his staff. Perhaps Dr. Johnson has made enough money in his career, and one or two lost patients due to his rude staff is just a casualty of doing business. Or perhaps, his skills as a optometrist simply do not match the abilities of his office staff. Either way, I would recommend you steer clear of this place. read more

Appointment was able to be made for the next day. I arrived 15 minutes early and got my forms. I was seen about 15 minutes past appointment. This is still fine compared to everyone else you might see. Dr Johnson and his staff got me right in and out and quickly identified my issues. Everyone is super friendly and they didn't give me any unneeded tests to rack up the bill. They have a pleasant waiting room and an area for glasses and contacts. Their location is also right off the highway and convenient. They also followed up to see if I was satisfied with the visit. I would recommend dr Johnson's office to everyone. read more

I absolutely love everything about this place! Every time I have been here I have been so impressed with the level of service and customer care my son and myself receive. The entire staff is amazing! They answer all of our questions and always go above and beyond in every possible way. The eye exams are so thorough and I am never left with unanswered questions . I often learn many things I didn't know about eye health and other related topics. I just love feeling informed and knowing I am doing what's best for myself and my son. Went here to buy frames. The 3 girls in front wouldn't let me into the retail area without an appointment. One said "this is our busiest time of year". Apparently they aren't in business to make money, I went to this Van Tran place down the street and bought a $400 frame 5 mins later in a transaction that took about 45 sec. Dumb! read more

I've had horrible vision since I was 8. I have severe astigmatism on both eyes and my night vision was awful. I was supposed to wear glasses all the times but wearing them gave me headaches so I only wore them when I had to. I went to an optometrist a year ago to try contacts. He gave me soft lens contacts but I could not wear them because they shifted too much, causing blurry vision. He told me I would get used to them. I tried 3 adjustments for a few weeks but nope. Then we moved to Henderson 4 months ago and I researched different optometrists and found Dr. Johnson. He is a genius. He knew soft contacts would not work for someone like me and offered a few options but recommended we try the hybrid first. After a couple of adjustments, he was able to fit the right ones and I can now wear contacts all day long and I can see! I didn't think it was possible for my vision to be this great but it is. Dr. Johnson is my go to eye doctor! From the moment making my appointment to the visit was so smooth. His staff is very professional & kind. They make you feel welcomed right when you walk in the door. Wait time was not long at all. The doctor takes his time & makes sure to answer all your concerns and questions you may have. He is by far the best eye doctor I have been to in years. I do not have insurance, I had to pay all out of pocket. Which in the end was less than when I use to have insurance living in CA. They don't over charge you or try to sell you the top. It's all about you, your budget & what is best for you. It's hard to find doctors like that these days. This business is just out for the money. We were referred by Dr. Christopher Burt to an eye specialist. We were told to get our prescription and purchase glasses that same visit. No guidance was given by the doctor to wait off until after seeing the specialist to purchase the new set of glasses with lenses. Then a month later the specialist gives us a medical diagnosis that will require specific lenses. We had already purchased and paid out of pocket more than $200 for the lenses given to us, and now the office tells us that we'll have to purchase a brand new set of lenses for more than $200 again- that is including charging our insurance AGAIN. If this doctor suspects glaucoma or chronic dry eyes he should advise his patients not to purchase lenses until after seeing a specialist. What a waste of money for patients, and bad patient care! read more

I love going here!! Doctor Johnson is the nicest doctor I have ever been to. He's friendly, takes time to answer all your questions, and is very thorough with his eye exams. I'm one to ask a lot of questions and everytime I leave his office I feel like I just got out of class having obtained so much knowledge about eyes. It's a very interesting subject. I think Doctor Johnson should have a reality show because he's that entertaining to listen to. His staff has always been wonderful too. I can't even. I did not wait at all. The staff called me right back, did the prelimary testing, and then I immediately saw the doctor in another room to finish the exam. The doctor is very knowledgeable and explains things in a way that you will understand. Especially if you're into science! He used the different wavelengths of light (red and green) to show how my eyes are actually performing differently, and working against one another.... among other really cool stuff, but I'll spare you the physics on that. The staff then spent over an hour helping me pick out the best frames for my face that will keep me from seeing half of my view OUT of my lens. Awesome, right? I've had bad experiences with eye doctors. Like not getting the right amount of attention, or being rushed out the door, resulting in a bad prescription. Dr. Johnson and his staff were SUPER detail oriented. They did a bunch of tests and prescribed me exactly what I needed! I never felt rushed out. And Johnson was just extremely nice and funny. combative front desk. eg: she argued with me when I had to make another round trip to pick up the hard copy of my prescription (that by law they are supposed to provide you with at the time of the appointment) because 'most people don't even want it and it wastes their ink" :/ uh. the $$$ I pay doesn't cover your ink to provide me with the script your are required by law to provide me with? I have more experiences with her unpleasantness, but I will spare you the details of further. Ultimately the review must be logged because I thought my only problem was with the front desk, Dr. being pleasant and my OD for over a decade, but, turns out, the rx he wrote me is completely whack. I can't read far, I cant read close, my vision is blurry and double the entire time I have my contacts in. After months of trying to make it work, I gave in and thankfully had a remaining stash of old rx lenses and can finally see again. No explanation why Dr. arbitrarily decided to make my left eye correction 1.00 to weak and my right eye 0.25 too strong. (and didnt talk to me about the rx change) Wasted my benefits & cost me $300 in ordering lenses with their "passive income generating link" Marlo (third party affiliation for filling rx orders who also wants you set up yet another profile and account and allow them to text you) and another $80 on eyeglasses rx filling only to determine this RX is completely useless, makes me nauseaus, looking through the glasses is like putting two different power magnifying glasses to your face and trying to walk around. read more

I rarely write reviews. But, the most engaging OD visit I've ever had was with Doc Johnson; he is very friendly and detailed with the entire eye exam. Office also has pretty neat, up to date equipment that takes pics of your retina and he happily goes over what the results mean with you. read more

Dr. Johnson is great. My issue is with his staff, Stephanie. You can't schedule a follow up appointment with the doctor. She refused to put you down. She submitted the wrong prescription for my new glasses (cost me over $900 out of pocket, more than $400+ for frame plus lenses. not including what they will bill my insurance) which she blamed me for not getting use to the new prescription and that my new frame and lenses were the issue. She had no accountability. It was always the patients fault instead of offering some sort of solution to help the patient. She could have easily double check her record making sure the prescription was correct on the lenses or asked the patient to come in to double check the lenses and compared it against what they had on file. If it was wrong or patient still had complaints about how uncomfortable the new glasses made them feel, she should suggested another appointment with the doctor. None of these solution was offered. I had to call for more than 3 times and fought with them to give me an appointment then I finally got my follow up appointment. Their excuses was the doctor was fully booked and there was no need to come in to see him. There was nothing wrong with my new glasses. No matter who you talk to over the phone, the girls will have to ask Stephanie when and the answer is never helpful. I gave them a second chance and the same thing happen the following year again (new frame and new lenses). Once again it was my fault that my new glasses didn't work out for me. I have to think about switching to another doctor b/c of her. She will be the reason most if not all of Dr Johnson's patient will leave his practice. I hope Dr. Johnson see's that. She really thinks she's the boss and does whatever she want. I am not sure if they are related or not, if they are then that explains it. read more

Dr Johnson is a 5 star. He is very good and knows profession. I have been going to him for 10 years-he has the latest machine for checking your eyes so as for tumors and more, I just took an vision policy-co-pay was 10 dollars in I use one of there clinics for vision-no thank you-they test about halve of what he tests for-i paid 108 for him-they gave me back 50-so i paid 58 and its worth it to have the best Doctor. When it comes to health-i want the best!!!!!! If you have a problem-call him and he will make room for you. Glad i found him!!!! read more

Its unfortunate that I can't review the Dr independently from the staff member, Stephanie. He would get 5 stars. My review is completely based on my experience with her. I called the office in Feb to schedule my appt and didn't have my insurance info. She told me she found it in their system and she would add it to my account. After my appt she charged me as if I had no insurance so I asked her why it was so high and she said she didn't show insurance for me. She finally remembered that when I called she had looked it up and she ended up correcting the charge. I made an appt for my husband while I was there and I asked her to please add my insurance info to his account and she said she did. When my husband showed up to his appt he was charged the wrong amount. He inquired as to why it was so high and she informed him that was the price with no insurance. He advised her that I had asked him to update his insurance when I was there. Fast forward about 4 weeks later. I ordered contacts online and uploaded my prescription I was provided. When my contacts arrived I couldn't see out of my right eye as it was completely blurry. I compared my prescription to the box and my online order and everything matched. I called Dr Johnson's office and spoke to Stephanie and explained that I couldn't see out of the right contact. She then asked if I had ordered a +3.0 to which I responded yes because that was what my prescription stated. She proceeded to say that my prescription is for a -3.0. I told her that was not what was on the prescription I was holding in my hand and since this was not my fault I asked what they were planning to do because I had now paid for 6 months worth of contacts. She had the nerve to tell me there was nothing they could do and that was why they strongly encourage patients to order from them directly. I said regardless of where I ordered it is their responsibility to provide me with the correct prescription. Aside from placing the blame on me for not ordering through them she then tried placing the blame on the company I ordered the contacts with because they never called the Dr.'s office to confirm my prescription. Why would they have to if I uploaded the prescription online?? She was so rude and condescending and kept saying there was nothing they could do and to contact the company I ordered from to see if they would allow a return. Not once did she ever offer an apology for their mistake. Luckily the company I ordered from was awesome and sent me out a new box the next day. This was after they assured me there was no reason for them to verify my prescription since I uploaded the copy to their website. Dr. Johnson should really find a new employee who knows how to treat customers. read more

I have to update my review. The staff is really hit and miss, but its become a consistent issue anytime there's an insurance dispute. In my case the staff didn't apply insurance which was active at the time and is active today, causing me to have to pay out of pocket. This is egregious because its something they could so easily fix. Its pretty obvious now why Johnson has such good ratings. While his staff is sub-par, he loves his job. Had some mix up on insurance when we went in. I ended up paying up front. When I had everything straighten up with the insurance. The insurance company called Dr. Johanson's office to bill them. His office told the insurance company "No". Leaving us stuck with an exam bill, when it was fully cover. They would rather bill their paying customer, than taking the insurance network rate. I have been seeing Dr. Johnson for my annual eye exams for about 5 or 6 years now. Every time I go in, I get the best service I have ever had. He is super informative about what is happening with your individual vision concerns and he explains things very well. Front desk staff is friendly and seem well-informed. This was my first time going to this doctor, but I chose him because my husband had gone to him for an eye exam/contacts and he had a good experience. On the day of my late afternoon appointment, they called me a few hours before because the doctor had to go home sick. They were able to reschedule me to a morning appointment the following week. When I arrived for my appointment, I was taken back for my eye exam fairly quickly after filling out the new patient paperwork. Dr. Paul Johnson was friendly and knowledgeable. He did a great job explaining the details of my comprehensive eye exam and I felt he wasn't just trying to sell me glasses or contacts. He was very thorough and did not rush through the appointment. Do not use this place!! Although the doctor is fantastic its a shame his staff isnt.. The doctor deserves 5 stars but his staff does NOT!!! I went in on the day before they were on vacation for NYE and I was the last patient, they were in such a hurry that they made mistakes and had me leave without reciept, a copy of my perscription, etc. The lady let me know my balance and I made arrangements to come in the following week. During my visit one person told me the frames weren't covered the next lady they had me sit with told me they were covered. I left there being told I had a $106 balance and when I went in to pay the balance a week later I was told i had a $0 balance and my glasses had already been ordered, I wa s the one who insisted I had a balance but they could not find any paperwork about my visit..apparently now there is no paper trail for my first payment I believe I paid otherwise why would I have such a low balance or even a $0 balance, It makes no sense!.. and now for some reason the frame I ordered is all of the sudden NOT covered by my insurance. They made no attempt to take responsibility for THEIR mistake. I feel completely taken advantage of and am so incredibly disappointed in the lack care for their patients and their lack of basic accounting skills!!! Btw. The girl there says their office NEVER has made a mistake and since she trained the staff they NEVER make mistakes either ! What a joke!!!!! Whether I paid the ENTIRE balance or paid nothing the day of the original visit, the point is the staff made obvious mistakes and is blaming the patient. read more
