Full Disclosure as this is copied from my review of Lance Matsune because I mentioned Dr. Teranishi... Well I have only been once, but Dr. Matsune came highly recommended and was in my insurance network. I made my appointment and went in for a regular check up and cleaning. No where was I told Dr. Matsune was on vacation that week when I checked in or was taken back, until they had me in the chair, after xrays, that I found out that Dr. Matsune was on vacation. They made it sound like he never gets a vacation so I would be seen by Dr. Teranishi (who isn't an in-network provider). I figured that they would charge me and my insurance like it was Dr. Matsune. Boy was I wrong, my insurance treated it like an out of network dentist and I received a bill from the dental office. When I called them I was pretty upset as I told them no one told me Matsune was out or I would have rescheduled. After telling them that was poor customer service they relented and reversed the charge. That was August 2019 - and because my insurance allows for two cleanings a year and not every 6 months - they scheduled another cleaning in December (this month). When I receive the confirmation it had two appointments. The first for cleaning and the other to fix a rough spot that Teranishi found on a tooth. Mind you it doesn't bother me so why mess with it. I called up and they explained it and I told them to cancel the other appointment. But the more I think about it, what I thought once was a very professional office, is nothing more of how much money we can make and screw the insurance companies. Their customer service is ridiculously poor. I have been to many dental offices that want you to be aware of your dental benefits and where you stand with your maximums. Not this office. My wife had met her maximum but didn't know that would impact her cleaning (I didn't remember about the appointment until after it happened) and low an behold they charged us for the whole thing. Okay I can say partly my fault, but they didn't even try to inform her it would be all out of pocket because she had met her maximum. One might think they didn't know, but they did because they referred her to another dentist to get some work done and were fully aware. Here is a further update...the office manager is a very condescending person. At one point blames the patient for any confusion, but then says that they don't know when a patient is maxed out or close to it. Funny thing is that in the same breath she says they try to let patients know if they are close or maxed out. I understand that they may not know precisely, but to at least alert a patient is not beyond reason. Plus if they recommend a patient to a specialist that should cause a flag to go up Again, I say that their business practices are suspect that they are looking for ways to maximize their profits. I asked about the appointment for a second cleaning in 4 months and the add on appointment. Well the office manager tells me people want to maximize their yearly insurance - not trust if your company is self-insured - and the other appointment wouldn't have been made without my okay. Well it was and they...call it as it is...lied to make themselves not look at fault in any way. Is this really how a customer centric business should operate? I wouldn't want my business run this way. So this place is just out to get as much as they can from their patients. I will be cancelling my December appointment and guess I will need to find a new dentist that is honest and truthful with good business practices. read more

Just had a cracked front tooth fixed by Dr Teranishi. It was my first time seeing him, since I usually see Dr Matsune, who is off this week. I can hardly believe that a small town like Tracy is so lucky to have two dentists of this caliber. I have been to many dentists in my years, and I have never been to one who comes close to comparing to either one of these amazing doctors. After 20 painless minutes in the chair, my tooth is fixed and looks beautiful, like it has never had a cavity or had work done. Dr Teranishi is a true artist. I am thrilled with his work and can't stop looking in the mirror at a tooth that looked horrible this morning, and this afternoon is perfect! Thank you, Dr Teranishi! read more

Great spot. Been coming here for years ever since I've been a kid. All cleaners excellent kind and friendly. They take in consideration of all of your concerns and issues. Each visit is about an hour for all cleaning and check up. Excellent place. read more

The office is nice. However I found Dr. Teranishi not to be the most patient with children and very condescending. I'm sure he's great for adults but I will be taking my child elsewhere from now on. Not to mention he is about twice the price of other dental offices I have visited. read more

Wow! Finally a dental team that gets it!

wow. Just called to make an appointment and I was told that unless I'm an established patient I cannot get a weekend appointment. This is impossible for someone like myself whom owns an in-home daycare and works from 6 AM to 6 PM. Very disappointing. read more

Without hesitation, the best dentist in town. My family's been going to him for over 10 years and we would not switch. He's really good with kids and is up to date with the latest technology and methods. What impresses us most is that he doesn't try to sell fancy treatments, but does what is best for keeping your teeth & gums healthy. He also dedicates his time and services to charitable groups, which speaks a lot of his character. read more

I have been going to Dr. Teranishi since 1989. He must be doing something right for me to continue with him! Dr T and his team have always taken very good care of me and my family. He always takes the time to ask about what I have been doing and he seems genuinely interested. He is very knowledgeable in his field, I have never had any complaints. read more

I have been going to Dr Teranishi for about 25 years! He is a wonderful dentist and all around great person. Office staff and dental hygienists are all very friendly, and any issues that I have ever had with my teeth were well taken care of. Highly recommend! read more

I can't say much for his work since I did not receive any but I will tell you my story which really disappointed me after being highly recommended. I scheduled an appointment which was hard to get (3 weeks out). I came in and would only be examined, they did not do a cleaning (when i clearly explained I wanted both done when I scheduled my appt) supposedly due to tight scheduling. Prior to leaving they tried to charge me for the office visit and after a little back and forth they agreed to charge me on my return visit when they would actully do work to charge. Well I tried making another appt to followup with which was an even longer wait time than my original appt. In the meantime they tried to charge me for the original visit and when I called to clear up the charge they tried to renege on the agreement we had made. The end result was them asking me to take my business elsewhere and that in doing so they would zero out my balance. As you may imagine I was in shock. (they sent me one more notice trying to collect and after the 3rd call they finally honored their promise to zero out the balance). I don't know how they could treat someone that way but the only thing that I have resorted to attributing it to was that I was a cash paying customer and not an insured patient (profit potentially driven affected lack of courtesy). read more

I have to agree that Dr Teranishi is one ot the best around! Very caring. A previous reviewer made a comment about being a cash paying customer and not having a positivie experience. I want to assure you that my level of care has always been top notch and I am a cash paying customer as well. Dr. has worked with me to make my care affordable. Your dental care is really his main concern. I have and will continue to recommend him to everyone I can!!! read more

1. This is a busy office. Scheduling is tight. Prior to my second appointment, I was flooded with "helpful reminders". Six total. email, text, and calls at work. I went to the appointment, and asked not to be reminded again. Ever. No more calls at work. No more email/texts. The lady at the front desk objected, saying they need to confirm the appointment. We went round and round. Finally, I told her that if she pushes this issue, I will simply find a dentist that is not so aggressive. I told her that the only reminder i need is the small business card "appointment reminder" they hand me at the conclusion of the visit. The tension was noticeable, but she finally backed off; she flagged my account and assured me i would never receive another reminder other than the card she will hand me for my next appointment. That was two months ago. I have an appointment with the dentist tomorrow. And guess what? I just received a call at work reminding me i have an appointment tomorrow!!! OUTRAGEOUS!!!! 2. Now about the dentist. He talks fast and is a little pushy. I didn't want the full xrays since I've had them with the dentist just prior. I came in wanting my front tooth fixed - it's chipped. After the lecture on the importance of a full mouth xray, i still told him i didn't want it, so we compromised and only did the bite wings. I think what's going on here is that there is an expectation of a certain volume of patients per day, with a certain expectation of revenue per patient. And this is the reason the front desk is as pushy as it is, including the dentist. This is a business, and I feel like I am a means to an end - I am not a patient, I am an object that allows them to bill an insurance company and collect their fees. I will go in tomorrow and have my chipped tooth fixed, and then I will NOT be going back to this dentist again! read more
