My boyfriend lives across the street so while he was at work I walked over to Paula's nails. I didn't have high expectations because I'm really picky and I have my girl in Vegas that I love. But I decided to give them a try considering all the good reviews on Yelp. I decided to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and walk my dog over so he can wait outside while I get them done. Immediately they were so nice and affectionate to my bulldog. They gave him water and even invited him inside. He was so happy and that made me happy. I got my nails done with Kevin. I was reading an interesting article and forgot to explain how I like mine done. Short, thin and narrow. As natural as acrylicks can look. But when we were done they were perfect! Amanda did a nice job on my pedicure too. The vibe inside is really good. They were watching the soccer game so all the nail ladies were yelling and cheering. It was entertaining. I only wish they would have spa chairs but that won't stop me from returning. The price was excellent too! No complaints. read more

I called in for an appointment on the same day but had to wait half an hour before I got sat. Which is fine - it was a busy Saturday afternoon and I was honestly surprised they even took my appointment at such a short notice. The building is under construction but there was a small sign in front (it's right across the street from Gardena Memorial). Parking kind of sucked due to the lot being small but traffic flowed pretty consistently. Paula did my cousin's manicure and Amanda did mine, they were both very accommodating and great conversationalist - customer service is essential in a nail salon. We were both done in about half an hour. The manicure including the basics (clipping, filing, buffing) and a short oil/lotion hand massage. My only critic is that my nails are different shapes. I asked for oval shapes yet my fingers all vary from squarish to roundish. Next time I'll be sure to take a better look at them as soon as she's done with the filing. Overall Paula's is an excellent place to get affordable work done on your nails! Like most of these reviewers I LOVE KEVIN! He is my go to guy- worried that the secret is out, since he is always busy as it is.. but he ALWAYS makes time for me. I personally have never had a problem here and that is probably because i ONLY let Kevin do my acrylic nails. He is funny and gives yo exactly what you want (even though what you say at first is ot what you really wanted) he does not let you leave unsatisfied. PRICES ARE CHEAP... but it is a small mom and pop place, dont expect the fancy chairs and ice cold drinks. You really are just paying for the nails and service, which is great and affordable. I have however noticed that the two stations in the front (his sisters and owners) also ALWAYS have long time customers at their chair and they are always so friendly. Taylor is great at pedicures and picks out great colors and is honest... lol MAKE an appointment- BUT also keep it, it is rude to make an appointment and not show up, bc your nail artist declines others waiting for you and loses that business. CONS- If you are picky with colors bring your own nail polish- they dont have much to chose from. But I always find a color, or Kevin does. I also notice the older ladies that sit on the right side (when you walk in) always have a problem with a customer, at times it is awkward because the customer is right but the ladies take no accountability. This place is in a small shopping center w/parking. the parking is very cramped up, so be careful pulling up. One exit/one entrance. All of employees are nice and greet when you walk in. A pedicure is $13 and eyebrows are $6. That's my usual. Paula does a very a great manicure and if you want a design, she does wonders. They always have a very interesting movie playing if you plan to stay for multiple services. Con: Not every Lady in there can wax eyebrows. read more

I have been going to Paula for years. I get pedicures, manicures, gel, acrylic and sometimes waxing. Kevin usually does my nails and Emily my pedicure. Although their equipment is not necessarily state of the art, the service and attention is way better. Almost all of my friends and family members go to Paula. They only take cash so sometimes It's a bit difficult and I have to go out of my way to get it but It doesn't really bother me because it is worth it. I went there today without having an appointment so I wasn't sure how long I would have to wait- as soon as Kevin saw me and knew that I wanted a fill and then a pedicure he arranged the time with Emily and took me in right away. I felt special like receiving the royal treatment. Also, it was getting close to closing time but they didn't rush me at any time, in fact, the were kind and said let it dry don't worry. Service is nice; they ask you questions and try to have a conversation with you. They also help you get your money out to avoid messing up the nails. My pedi came out good for the price, but I was disappointed by my mani. The nail polish coats were all uneven, some on the entire nail and some not (on EVERY nail). It looks so bad that I'm completely re-doing them on my own later. They do not keep any high end nail polish and they did not apply a base coat. There's plenty of other places that do a better job for a $21 mani/pedi.... They seemed to have a lot of regulars though, so maybe this was just my experience. read more

I went in yesterday for a nude ombré acrylic set I showed her a picture of exactly what i wanted(not that complicated because I've gotten it done before and it's common) Once i showed her she kept speaking to the others in the salon, looking lost and irritated. She asked me to wash my hands because they were "dirty", sorry but I'm just naturally tan. She insisted that ombré was not possible on shorter nails, when i had already shown her sample pictures before hand. The whole time she was doing my nails she was making rude comments. I also wanted to get my pedicure done but once she was done with my hands she moved my personal items out of the way and already had someone in my seat. I decided to just walk out without a word. Before everything i told her that i was looking for a permanent nail lady so if she did a good job that I'd keep coming back and she shrugged off, clearly they don't want business so don't come here if you're looking for a nail lady. 2.5 stars for the manicure - I got a regular polish french manicure. They looked great, but started chipping the next day :( 5 stars for the pedicure - I got a regular polish french pedicure. It's been almost two weeks and they're still perfect, and I'm on my feet a lot. 5 stars for price - For the quality of the pedicure, the value is highway robbery. The manicure feels like a "get-what-you-pay-for", however. 3 stars for atmosphere - It doesn't look like the cleanest place but I am a fan of the plastic-lined tubs for your feet, since spa chairs are almost impossible to thoroughly disinfect without taking lots of time (many spas don't bother to follow protocol). I wasn't paying attention enough to notice if they used a brand new nail file on me but the tools were clean. They are a busy shop and have lots of regulars, which is always a good sign. Overall, this is a no-frills nail salon. I would definitely return for a pedicure, the quality is excellent for the price. The mani quality isn't good enough for me to come back over and over again, but I will probably have one every once in a while just to clean up the cuticles. read more

I called ahead just to make sure they were not to0 busy on a Thursday afternoon. When I got there they were already waiting for me. I got a pedi and a gel mani. The service was great, the people were nice, and it was not expensive. I ended up paying $33 in total. The only thing I did not like was that it was somewhat dirty, the carpet looked old and it had stains. Other than that the place was good, I will be going there from now on. Needed a nail shop closer to home and I am so glad I came to this one! Tina did my gel manicure today and it is PERFECT. She cut my nails down to exactly the length I wanted, and consulted with me as to how many coats I wanted (blue is not always an easy, even color.) Tina was very polite and made small talk without being intrusive. She asked if I wanted a pedicure or eyebrows waxed, both of which I declined, and there was no pushy hard upsell. Front waiting area was a little cluttered and needed deep cleaning/updating, and the parking is a bit hinky - strip mall, narrow one-way drive area with parking on both sides - ample, but if someone has a long vehicle or parks over the lines it would be a tight squeeze. I got a mani pedi, walked in without an appointment and they were kind enough to fit me in. The work was excellent. That evening in my ever long quest to maim myself, I cracked one of my nails. Used to rate it 4 stars because the was reasonable and the nails always came out super nice. Until 2 weeks when was going out of town for a wedding and since walk inside are available went in. The nails were rushed and kept being told next time to do an appointment. My gel manicure was lumpy and lasted less than a week. The pedicure was even worse. They cut one of my toes. Had to be barefoot on the dirty floor almost the whole time bc they forgot to bring the slippers. And on top of it all got a horrible rash on my foot. So yea never again read more

The place has nice relaxing music. Message chair worked and my pedi was great. Has lasted almost 3 weeks with no chips. The were picky about the gel color before it went under the light. I bumped into the owner who did my nails at a business close to hers. She couldn't care less . I was not complaining to her. I simply wanted to show her. I was amused how she didn't care at all and how she just lost business. Not because of the bad one time job but because of her disinterest. I've never going here again. Love this place! Kevin absolutely does an amazing job with nails. He really pays attention to quality which is something I greatly appreciate. He not only can shape them perfectly, but he makes the most prettiest nail designs and makes sure your nails are exactly how you want them. The place doesn't look like it's anything special, but don't be fooled. The pedicures are pretty basic but I swear by Kevin and his amazing abilities with nails. The workers are extremely nice. They are a little outdated because they still give pedicures on a foot massager but it seemed as if they only had two. So a lady had to wait for one to be free before they could start her pedicure.
