Terrible in every way Phoned in order for Marguerita pizza with mushroom topping; advised it'll be ready in 15/20 minutes. When I arrived, I'm told it'll be ready in 5 more minutes. I pay cash. Waiting. Two more people arrive who work there, the mgr it seems. Waiting. So then my order is ostensibly put in the oven. More waiting. Bring pizza to friends house. I ordered an Italian Combo here on Grubhub and picked up the order. The description says Ham, Salami, Provolone. The first problem was I could barely even see the meat and cheese on the sandwich. There was one slice of each which on a hero sandwich is unacceptable. It tasted like lettuce and onions on bread. Secondly as I was eating it since I had no other option for lunch I noticed a piece of "ham" that was slightly protruding from the bread and the color looked strange. I opened the sandwich and found it was Mortadella, Salami and Provolone. I have a slight allergy to pistachios so this was completely unacceptable. Luckily there was so little meat on the sandwich I did not get a reaction. Will not return. I don't like to put such terrible reviews but this was not an accident. They don't even have anything on the menu that has Mortadella in it!! read more

Delicious wings served with fresh celery and some nice sauce. The teriyaki sauce was great! The pizza was better than others in the area. Nice crispy crust and just the right amount of sauce and cheese. This is a small pizzeria located in a small town square. The town is truly quaint however it gets little traffic other than locals. I was in town visiting dear old mom, driving all the way from The Midwest, 500 miles and 9 hours away. I grew up in Tenafly a long time ago (when the town seemingly had a lot more soul and personality than it does now), and it was a very special place back then, with a Dairy Queen, Friendly's, Charlie Brown, original Tenafly Diner, an actual movie theater, and so many more cool places that are gone now. Anywho, I tried out Paulie's for the first time, fondly remembering the classic Angela's Pizzeria, which was at the same location back in the 70's (it looks like Paulie's even has the original Bari Pizza ovens that Angela's had!). Middle and High Schoolers would often stop by there for a slice, and the die hards would dip their pizza crust in their cup of Coke or Pepsi! I would always look forward to cruising my mom's 1968 Olds Ninety Eight (with a Rocket 455 V-8) land yacht down E. Clinton Avenue, downtown to pick up an Angela's pie or 2! Even though I was 15 with no driver's license! In summation, Paulie's pizza was good, but certainly not on the same level as Angela's back in the day. read more

After trying other pizza spots in town, this is certainly my favorite. The dough was thin, but not too thin. (I hate doughy piza crust, which this town seems to enjoy). We ordered a pizza from Paulie's tonight. I have to say that we will never order from them again. Firstly, they did not ring the doorbell, instead leaving the food on the stoop. By the time we checked out front, it was cold. The pizza was small-we ordered large, for an up charge. We ordered Sausage, onions and peppers, which was a nine dollar up charge-if there was two dollars of topping on it, it would've been a lot. The pie was $27 before the delivery fee. All this would've been fine if it was good. The Caesar salad was a take away container of torn iceberg. No parmigiana cheese or croutons. When I called to complain they hung up on me. We used to order from this place all the time. There used to be a gentleman who made pizza and worked as cashier same time but looks like management /owner changed couple months back. We ordered penne vodka pizza for pick up. After picking it up and opened the pizza box upon arrival, we noticed that there are hardly any vodka sauce on the pizza. We thought maybe sauce were covered under the cheese and took a bite out a slice. However, it tasted like just plain dough, cheese and pasta. We called back and complained about this and the woman told us bring it back. When we brought pizza back, that woman took a look at the pizza and said "This is normal. Next time ask for extra sauce." She said this after we telling her that we ordered same pizza before and this taste totally terrible. She just put more sauce on the original pizza and handed us pizza back. I wouldn't order from this place ever again. It's bit sad that this used to our "go to" pizza place around my neighborhood. read more

There's even 2 tables and chairs in front on the sidewalk - a really cute touch. I've been in Tenafly since the late '70's and I've never seen it look this good. Definitely not the worst in the area. Came in for a slice on a Monday afternoon around 1:20PM to find the place completely overtaken by children....line out the door with people under the age of 15. A little surprised but decided to eat here anyway. No plain slices available so I tried the onion and pepper slice and an additional mushroom slice. The crust was crispy and light on both and tasted great. The owner mentioned he was short staffed and apologized to customers for the chaos. 4 out of 5 stars. read more

The new ownership at Paulie's Pizzeria are great. The food is exceptional and I'm really happy that there's a great local place to get an excellent chicken parmigiana hero. While it's not on the menu, they have also made me a chicken roll several times and their pizza is excellent too. That's all I've had so far, but I'm sure everything else is great too. read more

Not sure about the rave reviews. Pizza was ok. I dont know if it is the 'best in tenafly' but why would you limit your area to just tenafly for pizza?? Food was ok but not great. If you had to limit yourself to the magical dome of tenafly that prevents you from venturing further, i think nova is marginally better. read more

Paulie's is just edible. Been going there for years too (I grew up in Tenafly!) and have lived here and NYC all of my life. This is not great pizza. Although the owner is a nice guy that speaks nothing of the food. I prefer another vendor who is down the street. The pizza is bigger, tastes better, and less expensive. The pizza sitting out never looks fresh and if you go in the back it is very dirty and not clean. I cannot recommend this place for good eats. read more

If I would have to sum up my experience with Paulie's Pizza and Wings, I would sum it up as a RIP OFF. We got a family deal that supposed to include dessert and drink and after ordering it, my husband came to pick it up and was notified that dessert is not available. Mind you, I was on the phone making the order earlier (30 minutes ago) and nobody told me that dessert is not available. When my husband asked if there was something else they can include instead of missing dessert, they said "NO". On top of that, they did not include the drink that was ordered, if my husband would not check, they would just let him go without full order. Work on your customer service skills Paulie's Pizza and Wings. To top off our experience, pizza was very mediocre and we were not happy with it. Bottom line: I would not recommend this place to anybody who ever had decent pizza or good customer service experience anywhere- you will be disappointed with this place. read more

Thank you to the new owner of Paulie's Pizzeria for welcoming our soccer team and hosting our on-the-road celebration! We were a large group (15 boys + parents), and they set up the tables immediately in the back area to accommodate us. We ordered seven pies and various drinks and the owner and his assistant were gracious and polite. The pizza quality was delicious and the drinks were competitively priced. Our soccer team was very happy as were the parents. Thank you again Paulie's. We wish the new owner (there for about 1.5 years) best of luck in your location. Your customer service puts Pizza Nova down the street to shame. Paulie's is deserving of our hard-earned cash, and worth a visit when in Tenafly. read more

5 High School freshman came into Paulie's the first day of school. They all ordered pizza. 1 of the 5 is Celiac and asked for gluten free pizza. He was told that they no longer carried anything gluten free. He, subsequently, went across the street where he got gluten free pizza, and then joined his 4 friends (who had all purchased their pizza at Paulies) at their table. The owner told him to leave. When the friends objected, the owner kicked them all out. No one was sitting at the tables outside the restaurant, so the 5 boys sat there and continued to finish their pizza. The owner went out of his way to come out, and made them leave, refusing to let them sit anywhere. This incident has been heard by many people who are all dismayed by the lack of compassion shown to a child who does not choose to have an eating disorder and is doing the best to normalize his situation. (Che Cheese, across the street, upon hearing this horrible story, even offered that if a similar situation ever occurs, the boys are welcome to sit at their tables even if none of them have purchased food at their establishment.) read more

I was leery of going here since it has so few and kind of poor previous yelp reviews. However they had Monday and Tuesday night special of a $9.95 16" pie special. Along with an "Under New Ownership" sign. So I figured it might be worth a try to see if the new owners have making pizza figured out or not! Well the new owner is a pleasant young man who is trying to build a successful business for himself and he definitely makes a wonderful pizza pie. He has a couple of chairs and a table set up on the side walk and it was such a beautiful summer evening that my wife and 2 small children decided to dine right there. Definitely delicious and we will be back again when we are in town. read more

Walk here every week to get pizza, either by the slice or as a whole pie. It's always hot and tastes great. They don't answer the phone between their listed hours of operation. Last time the ovens were heating up an had to wait a 30-45 mins for anything. Why not come in a half hour early an turn the ovens on so you're ready by 11am? Guys are friendly and pizza is good when you can get a hold of them. read more

Unfortunately after visiting Paulies Pizza for my first time the other day I was extremely disappointed... the place itself is decent but the service was horriable. After waiting about 15 minutes I was able to get someone's attention (since they clearly seemed understaffed). I finally placed my order, explaining I was vegetarian etc, in which he clearly understood.... then, another 25 minutes of waiting...I go to pay and discover that my order was completely wrong and contained meat. I explained this issue to the employee Inwhich his response was unprofessional and completely rude. He tried to blame the error on me.... after already being here almost 45 min, I was left to wait even longer and on top of that received lousy customer service. The same man seemed to be taking my money, making the pizza, along with everything else that clearly shouldn't be ran by one person. Hopefully they will learn or improve this... This was my first time here and I was unfortunately disappointed, I doubt I will ever go back.... the food wasn't even worth the wait, and I got completely mistreated. Recently purchased by a new young owner he immediately changed the recipe and now this is the best pizza around! He's slowly making changes to the place and maybe will change it's name...I think he should cuz it's a whole new pizza than the previous owners pie. And after all that's what you go for! The crust is perfectly crispy, sauce is tasty and the toppings are fresh. The menu is currently a simple pizza parlor fare with subs and salads and sodas. Very affordably priced, and they deliver. Paulie's is a Tenafly staple. Now that it is under new management and had a facelift, it looks and feels up to the quality of the food.
