I got a pastrami sandwich here couple weeks ago and it was really good so I decided to go back again. This time the bread was hard. It was definitely not fresh. $14 for the pastrami sandwich. Onion rings $8 So disappointed. Plenty of parking They do offer a large outdoor area for dine in. Friendly service.

I've been coming here for many years. The is definitely one of my favorite places for fried mushrooms and chili cheese fries. It never fails the mushrooms are a good size. Service is always quick and the workers are friendly. The place is pretty chill with music playing and outdoors seating only.

It's clear that Paul's Place is a favorite among locals! Order at one of the windows and wait for your order to be called. They have lots of outdoor seating in a nice little covered patio area. I got the Club Sandwich, which is loaded! Definitely had to smash it down in order to get a bite of everything. It comes with turkey, ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and mayo between three slices of bread. Comes with a pickle spear and pepperoncini on the side. I liked that the bacon was nice and crispy! We also got a side order of mushrooms and zucchini, and both come as pretty large portions that are great for sharing. They're battered and fried, so they're perfectly crispy;. The mushrooms are whole and still maintain their juiciness. I enjoyed the zucchini as well! They also come topped with parmesan cheese to make them extra yummy! They have LOTS of online or phone orders coming in, so it took a while to get our to-go order that we placed in person.

Found this place on yelp decided to try it out . Right off the bat noticed no drive through . I ordered some burgers with fries and onion rings . The burger was fire! Had a great taste the buns were nice and soft and the thousand island dressing was on point . All in all great burger . The fries were good also but the onions rings were great had a nice crispy texture and the batter was good as well . The service was cool and the outside was nice small patio vibes . Great burger spot but definitely pricey but if you don't mind paying this is a good burger joint!

I usually don't like pastrami sandwiches cuz they taste dry and cold, ie that was my experience at The Hat. But I had it here and it was tender, juicy, and hot! I loved every bite of it. It was quite big and eating half of it was filling enough. The fries were also fresh, not too salty and was a great side. Now I can say I do like pastrami sandwiches, but only from here.

I typically get the cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink but I wanted to try something different so I went with the pastrami sandwich and onion rings instead. The sandwich was huge. Easily big enough to share. However, I thought it was dry and could have used a little more flavor/sauce. I don't like pickles so I left those off and that may have changed the taste. The onion rings however were delicious! Another large serving for sharing but you might not want to. They were light, crispy and just right. As a caveat - their burgers are absolutely delicious and they have an excellent chicken salad as well. Give this place a try, it's worth it.

I have no idea how, but somehow I've passed this place like 700 times and never noticed it there. A friend recently told me she had it for dinner and raved about it, described where it was and I knew all the businesses surrounding it, but it's so discreet and hidden to me that I never knew it existed. Bummer because I've had it twice since she recently told me and it was delicious both times! The service is quick and the staff is sweet. The food is so fresh and tasty and the portions are massive. I only ate about a 5th of my salad and saved the rest. My kids had a hard time deciding what to order because they have so many tasty things on the menu. So now we just have to keep going back so we can try more. :-) I hope they get some better signage or promote it somewhere or something so they get more business! I like small hidden gems like this and I want them to last in the community!

How have I not done a review on Paul's Place yet??!? This place is a mainstay of the neighborhood. :) The food is consistently good, it's your standard short order comfort food menu, but the quality is better than most other places, as is the service! The place is always clean and well kept, and it's always a chill atmosphere with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We're here pretty often, again, it's quick, easy, and you know it will be good. 10/10. :)

October 2025- 3.5 Stars. I stopped by Paul's Place for a BLT and some onion rings. The BLT ($6.99) was pretty good -- fresh lettuce, crisp tomato, and nicely toasted bread -- but the bacon could have been fresher and a little more generous. It had good flavor overall, but just shy of that perfect BLT balance. The onion rings ($7.99) were excellent -- crunchy, golden brown, and full of flavor without being greasy. Easily the standout item of the meal. I paired everything with a medium soda ($2.81), bringing my total to about $28 including tax for two meals. Service was friendly and quick, and diner vibe makes it a comfortable local spot for breakfast or lunch. With slightly fresher bacon, this would've been an easy four-star visit.

We stopped by this place last month, and when we were looking for something quick to eat we remembered it. It is a walk up restaurant where you order at the window and all of the tables are on the patio. It's a huge patio and the tables are relatively spread out. It's surrounded with pots with plants in it - - somebody clearly has a green thumb. The menu is enormous, and serves everything from Greek food ( I think that it is primarily supposed to be a Greek restaurant?? ) to Mexican food to broasted chicken. There are hamburgers and hot dogs and huge salads. There are different kinds of sandwiches and ice cream. Really there's something for everyone here. On this visit I ordered a grilled chicken salad. It was a huge salad with sliced boiled egg, half of an avocado, croutons and a grilled chicken breast. The chicken breast was absolutely delicious - - not at all dry and clearly marinated in something yummy. It came with grilled pita bread. I ordered Caesar dressing on the side, and I think it might have come from a bottle. That was the one thing I didn't love about the salad. Hubby ordered a chili cheese dog which was delicious and exactly as you would expect a chili cheese dog to be. Son ordered a patty melt. He loved the rye bread it was on, and he can be picky about rye bread. It did not come with fries, and he did not order a side. We have had the fries before and they are fine if you need more food, but this was plenty for us. We did not order the broasted chicken this visit, but we did have it last visit and I can tell you it is 100% delicious. It is a huge order though, and too big for any of us on this visit. None of us were very hungry. There seems to be a constant stream of people coming and picking up food. It's a nice little patio to sit on a on a nice night.

I love Mexican food leftovers. My mom keeps asking, so I been here three weekends straight. Tried six different things. Not a breakfast burrito yet ironically. Nachos, tacos and asada fries are my favorite so far. They have green and red sauce, but no pickled carrots or radish or anything like that. I find the green is spicier. Red is perfect. Has some kick, but not overpowering and doesn't linger so you can enjoy it. Ask what's in the entrees or figure it out as you go like I'm doing. Since we were already heading west to climb at Sender One Lakewood, Don Ruben was the perfect stop! We decided on the special and machaca breakfast burritos. Sure, there was a line both to order and pick-up, they lost our order, there are few outdoors seats, and it took longer than anticipated, but they make everything fresh to order. Our minor disappointment quickly turned into unexpected joy and satiation within our first two bites! They have created a perfect blend of meats, cheese, veggies, and seasoned potatoes here at Don Ruben's, and I couldn't even wait until the end of my meal before I began sending out text messages with the "Check out Don Ruben's" yelp page links! Listen, y'all, I've eaten a lot of breakfast burritos around the country, especially in LA and Orange County. I found my favourite OC breakfast burrito a few years ago, and now I've found my LA County one. Great prices, friendly service, quality ingredients, and sabor is what you'll find at Don Ruben's! You should also know that parking can be rough, as there is a small lot and a busy street in front. However, if you don't mind walking, you can park in the local neighborhood and get to Don Ruben's in a few minutes. This place is worth it!

It was bright like a fast food joint, but had table service and beer, wine and margaritas. We were a fairly good sized group of 9 and sat side by side on two booths that were separated by a glass partition that they removed. My brother-in-law told me the place is packed on the weekends and, judging by the food, I don't doubt it. The portions are big and the flavors strong, but not overpowering. The sampler plate is enough to share and is a good choice for someone who wants a little bit of everything. The carnitas were really good. It wasn't dry and the pieces were thin cut slices. With my flour tortillas and their delicious salsa, it was mouthwateringly good. The chicken fajitas, like the sampler, were enough to share. In fact, my wife and mother-in-law shared a plate. The molcajete was sizzling hot with delicious fish and shrimp and pulpo (octopus). I'm not a pulpo fan, but my brother-in-law ate everything and said it was delicious. Parking is tight and if you're traveling too fast on Carson going eastbound you might miss it. If you're traveling westbound, you need to turn on the street before the restaurant. The staff were really nice and polite and even sang happy birthday to my brother-in-law and gave him a sombrero for the pics, to boot. It truly was a wonderful night of family and good food and a place we'll put on our regular rotation soon.
