Got a pair of reasonably expensive boots resoled here (specifically the heels) and I was very satisfied with the fix! They were able to resole the original rubber heel with a Vibram heel cap, as well as fix a chip in the leather stack of the heel. They even fixed a small chip on the top of the sole. The heel cap was definitely not the original one - and thats fine - the new Vibram heelcaps are high quality and it looks pretty good. The pricing felt a little arbitrary (and possibly a bit expensive, but I have no point of comparison) but given the quality of the fix, I think it was a fine enough price for me. As a rough reference, the pricing for the fix was around ~10% of the price I paid for the boots. I think I'd probably come here again for other leather or shoe fixes, my first experience was pretty good all around. read more

I contacted Eagle Creek and they offered two options: (1) send the luggage back to Eagle Creek; or (2) drop off the luggage at a local shop. I opted for choice #2 and was pleasantly surprised at the professionalism and how quickly it was repaired. I dropped off my luggage and expected the turnaround to be about two to three weeks, however I was pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call five days later to pick up my luggage! Paul is an excellent cobbler - one of a dying breed, to be sure. He is EXPENSIVE, no doubt about that...but, if I took his advice and came in when only my heel & toe tacks needed replacing (which is unrealistic, seeing the frequency), I would be shelling out $5.00 instead of the $70.00+ it costs me to get my shoes' soles, heels, toes and studs fixed...for a pair that I've already paid for three times over! But, they are comfortable and we know how hard it is to break-in the perfect pair of shoes, eh, gentlemen? I don't know if I'd go to Paul's to pick up a suitcase, traveling bag, briefcase, or wallet as they seem cost prohibitive (despite their quality), but I would recommend to anybody to buy arch support shoe inserts from him. They're top-notch, last for years-and-years despite being used every day, and cost a heck of a lot less than what your podiatrist would charge you for the same (about 100-150% more). read more

Took my cowboy boots here to get the heels redone. The heel tips had worn down enough so that the whole heel had to be replaced. They did an excellent job, and warned me in advance that it would be more expensive to replace to whole thing. The replacement heels have held up well to regular use. After that favorable test run, I took my favorite pair of Italian leather boots to have the heel tips replaced. I was not disappointed, the shoes came back good as new. Paul's is not cheap, but they do good work, and take good care of any items you entrust to their care. read more

Paul has always done a great job on shoes and bag repairs for me and my wife. I agree with other reviewers that while his pricing is not terribly cheap when you compare fixing a $500 pair of shoes to like new for say $120 it does tend to be worth it. Ironically the other day while bringing my daughter's lacrosse bag in there I mentioned I was looking for a good overnight bag for suits that fits in the carry on and he showed me how much the Briggs & Riley line which he likes has thought of everything. I bought a great bag and am most impressed by the lifetime warranty he provides where he will repair for free or replace...that is a good deal. I'm a little surprised at all of the positive reviews here....maybe I just had bad luck..... however I took in two pairs of heels to get fixed and a purse strap to get shortened. The shortening of the purse strap was definitely satisfactory but the shoes were a whole other story.... I wanted to get the heel tips replaced and a few small scratches to be cleaned up (let me just say that I did not have high expectations in the first place...I knew that the scratches would not be totally removed nor would the shoes ever look like new - I simply wanted them to be a tad smoother and a little less noticeable). But when I got the shoes back it looked like the scratches had not even been touched....they looked the EXACT same as they did before so I'm not quite sure what I paid for. I would have said something when I picked them up, but unfortunately my boyfriend picked them up and had no idea what he was looking for. As for the heel tips, they were completely worn out again in less than a month and it's not like I do a lot of walking...I sit at a desk all day and drive to work, so no metro or street walking for me. Maybe this is normal, but given the fact that the heel tips that were on the shoes before lasted a whole year with the same exact use....I think that speaks for itself. Will never get shoes repaired here again and would not recommend to anyone. read more
