I am upping this to 5 stars because this place has my favorite falafel. When I first wrote my review 2 years ago I had only had the meat pockets, let me tell you they have falafel that I would put up against any. I have gotten over the packaged flatbread, I can deal. I graduated from UNH in 2001 and I remember when Pauly's used to be inside the laundromat. It is nice that now it's got its own space, but the food has been consistently awesome for the last 15 years. The staff is SO friendly and the food is authentic Middle Eastern deliciousness. The falafel, the salads, the hummus- everything is awesome. My favorite is the combo salad with chicken and falafel. It needs no dressing- I just get a side of tahini for my falafel and I'm happy. The gyro is delicious, too. I just love everything at this place- you really can't go wrong with Pauly's. read more

Walked in after touring UNH on a cold, rainy day, and was warmly greeted by the friendly owner, who customized my falafel by asking about each ingredient as he made it. Delicious, nutritious, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend Pauly's!! read more

This place serves great falafel and chicken wraps. I mean really memorable food! If it is past 10am and you are hungry and you are in Durham, you will go to Pauly's. If you go somewhere, anywhere else you will be disappointed. I sometimes worry that this is because of the dearth of other food options in this college town. Seriously. There is no good food here outside of Pauly's. Young's is ok if you are down with spending $12 for eggs, bacon, and potatoes, but that is it. Everything else is a culinary horror show. As the years have passed, I have determined that it is not just this stark contrast in food quality, but that Pauly's serves some fantastic fare. read more

This Place is great!! It's in downtown Durham but somehow seems to be overshadowed by some nearby food chains. You just HAVE to go over and grab a wrap or falafel (my fav is the chicken kabob). The staff is very sincere, humble and friendly! I absolutely love this place and the people there. Will definitely miss it when i leave after i finish my summer job at UNH. This is one of the best wraps anywhere. Middle Eastern falafel, grilled chicken, lamb, beef and yummy yogurt sauce. Try the turbo wrap. The place seats about 8 and people are standing in line right next to your table but who cares? The wraps are that good. read more

This place was a disappointment. The iceberg lettuce was old. You can tell from the brown edges...they were big chunks so it was probably from a bag. The slice onions were cut so wide they could kill any vampire. The meat looked like they were processed. Nothing about this place was fresh and I came right at lunch time. I got a falafel wrap and the guy squirted ketchup in it. How gross. This place doesn't deserve 4.5 stars. Im guessing that students considered this place good because they don't know any better. read more

Came here probably once a week while at school. It was probably the best part of being at UNH. For quick Mediterranean food at a hole-in-the-wall-type place, the food quality is great. I could really go for a turbo wrap right now, actually. Fast, friendly, delicious. read more

I kneel down at the edge of my bed each morning and thank The Lord that Pauly's Pockets exists. I've been going there for over 10 years and have never had a bad experience. Everything is cooked perfectly and always fresh. The customer service is amazing. Paul is a class act owner. I went away to college and didnt go to Pauly's for two years, but the first time I went back I got the same greeting and handshake from Paul. Now when I come home to visit family I skip my visits with Nana just so I have time to make it to Pauly's Pockets. When I die and go to heaven, I will be happy if it's half as good as Pauly's is. I haven't actually eaten at Pauly's Pockets. I went in yesterday for lunch. My bf and I said hello to the man behind the counter (Paul, I presume). He scowled at us without returning the greeting. We waited as another customer seemed to be finishing up her order. He was snarky and rude with her. We left quickly without ordering. I'm baffled by the reviews claiming the owner is a great person. I LOVE PAULY'S!!!! I always get the Veggie falafel pocket with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, banana peppers, cucumbers, feta, tzatziki, hummus, and tahini. I ask for mine spicy, but you can ask for mild... Spicy just means that they put more sauce on it. I sometimes get this wrap as a salad, which is just as good, just depends on what you're in the mood for. Curly fries are good as well, and so is their baklava. read more

A phenomenal little place tucked away in "downtown" Durham. Reasonably priced (Though their prices have inflated slightly), and the quality is consistently good. Also very fast if you don't have a bunch of Greeks in front of you ordering Turbo Pockets. It's a great alternative to the usual half-assed affair you see in town. read more

Paulys pocket is awesome. There are few vegetarian options in Durham and this is my favorite. The falafel wrap and falafel salad are my go to items on the menu. You can get it topped with hummus, tahini, and / or taziki, the veggies are fresh, the falafel is warm and the staff is friendly! I have been eating at this restaurant since the day they opened. In fact, I was eating here when it was in the laudromart and called Aladdin's Pockets. And I've only ever got one thing - the Chicken Kabob. It is just so good, I haven't even tried anything else. So, my review is based on that one item. But, man, is it good. My only advice would be that if you like things spicy, ask for them to make it very spicy. They seem to be down one level on the spice meter. read more

Not that my 5 stars will matter with the amount of 5-star ratings this place gets, BUT I was a HUGE fan even back when this place was Aladdin's Falafel in the laundromat. I would either eat here or at Karl's (the truck that used to park by the MUB and serve snotties. All you UNHers from the 90s know what I'm talkin bout). I live in LOS ANGELES and STILL can't find falafel like Pauly's has. Best best best falafel in the United States! And I get authentic falafel out here. Still doesn't compare. The falafel wraps are fantastic! I didn't even know his place existed until my senior year, which is really really unfortunate because this place is the bomb! The owner is Turkish, and definitely knows what he is doing. He baklava is great as well. I usually get the chicken and falafel and it is the perfect amount where the wrap doesn't fall apart. Whenever my husband requests we have lunch at Paulys I have not a single complaint. Live about ten minutes away, I thought not very much of this place by the looks of it. Sorta weathered awning, can't quite see inside, and the inside is small and a little aged. But what you get for food is DELICIOUS. I always get a spicy combo pocket with chicken and falafel and extra banana peppers. My husband gets the turbo with everything. Paulys will always be a beloved spot for us! Great local place in a college town. Not pizza or greasy spoon. Good flavor and good prices.

Food is good, but today was the last time we will attempt to get this place for dinner. They are seemingly never open. Today we even call ahead to ask when they were closing and were told between 5-6. Asked if we could call in an order at 4:30, they said that works. Call them at 4:15 and they answer saying they're closed. Never again and will dissuade anyone who suggests going there from now on. read more
