The lamb meat itself was the primary vehicle of salt and spice (with emphasis on the garlic), yet never being dry. All this being considered, the wrap never fell apart, and held together the entire journey. I made the mistake of ordering the lamp wrap my first go here, because the next occasion I came here, I got the chicken shawarma bowl. Although the rice, sauce, chicken and vegetables all inherited the same flavor profile as the wrap, the bowl fell wildly below my expectations as it was impossible to get a truly full bite of every single thing utilizing a small fork. I'm going to start this review off with a bang. Today ladies and gentleman, I ate 3 Polly's Pockets within the span of seven hours. Not only did i eat three today, but the last of the three was a little something called the Turbo Pocket. The turbo is Gyro, chicken, and falafel all wrapped up with like three different sauces and vegetables. It is safe to say this was the best sandwich I have ever had. Pauly's Pocket can't disappoint. You have the opportunity to eat healthy, get vegan/ vegetarian options and, if you have a sweet tooth, a little baklava. You are able to watch them prepare your food and you get to choose each food item that goes into your salad or wrap. I have been going to Pauly's pocket for four years now and it has become my first choice for food when I find myself hungry in the downtown area. I've had Pauly's upwards of ten times, as long as you don't take the tinfoil off the bottom of your wrap prematurely, you will enjoy your experience. Fresh ingredients make for delicious wraps and a good way to experience something different from the usual pizza or a sub in downtown Durham. I went with my girlfriend today just a minute before the scheduled closing time and the man behind the counter still took the time to prepare us some makeshift gyros and falafels. Excellent food! I had never even heard of falafel before before eating here. It is a lot healthier than what I usually find on campus, and the price is more than fair. The owner is such a nice guy, always making sure to ask how your day is, and his attitude seems to rub off on his employees which is always important. The guy working there mentioned that Trump wiped out Isis in the Middle East, so I knew this is a Trump-supporting establishment. I won't be going back. Pauly's brings Mediterranean excellence to a town lacking in diverse cuisine. I have yet to eat a more scrumptious meal in Durham than the infamous Turbo pocket. They are so consistently good at providing vegan and vegetarian options (something that all other restaurants make out to be a real hardship even in 2025). They are so inclusive and welcoming at all times. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because they don't have an AC system. In the summer, I'd love to frequent them more often, but it's just too hot. I would prefer to order takeout and eat it in my home with A/C than go in and sweat while trying to enjoy a nice meal. It's unfortunate too cause I think they have such great summer-foods like wraps and salads. And their cocktails are so fresh and nice and always rotating! Please get air-conditioning!!
