I loved when this was a Pavilions. When I needed food for a holiday feast or party I could always find tasty, somewhat more upscale items compared with Vons. Now that it has converted to Vons, it 's nice to see that they have kept a bit of that vibe. And I can find a few organic brands that are not carried at other Vons stores. The store is laid out with produce front and center and the other aisles to the right and left of it. Produce usually looks fresh and well stocked. More walking to get around but it feels less packed and easier to maneuver. Their specialty cheese counter is nice, as well as the meat/seafood dept. The staff is always helpful. They carry an interesting variety of fun-natural bottled and canned drinks. Starbucks kiosk is small and hit or miss with staffing, and my Vons card never works for promos but it's nice to have one in store. The flower dept always has lovely arrangements and live plants outside the front entrance. They have a Panda Express next door as well. read more

This review is particularly for the deli, though I will say the entire store was clean, well stocked, and the staff were friendly. I went to the deli for a sandwich and Stacy came to the rescue. She was incredibly kind, helpful, and talented in the art of sandwich making. Truly a master of her craft! The sandwich she whipped up for me was incredible and hit the SPOT!! Pretty reasonably priced ($10) for the size and quality of meats/cheeses that they used -- Boar's head is the bomb. Also, the bread was super fresh and really tied the entire sammy together. Would highly recommend you stop by the deli for a fresh made sandwich opposed to grabbing one of the premade ones, the difference in quality is astounding! read more

Once again went to my neighborhood, Vons early in the morning. I got the unfriendly cashier Eric again. He did not say literally one word to me through the whole transaction. The bagger was very nice though! Thank you for that I work in retail and I know sometimes you just don't feel like talking, but unfortunately, that is your job and you have to. One of the biggest Von's we've been to, the large amount of shelf space allows selections of familiar products that we can't find at our local Vons. It's also big enough to have wide aisles and an entire aisle side dedicated to chips (I've never been in a store where an aisle has chips on one side and freezers on the other). There is also a concrete corral for shopping carts that you can pick up and drop off. I think someone mentioned that this location used to be a Sprouts...the layout is definitely than the Von's or Albertson's we've been to. As everyone know grocery prices have gone way up in the past couple of years, with beef being one large example. Thus, buying cuts on sale is a must (today it was top sirloin for $6.99 a pound), and ice cream on sale. Special callout to Rachel working at the Deli. She patiently helped us to get the right items/price for the Monday special of a fried chicken dinner (8 pieces of chicken, deli cole slaw, and Hawaiian bread 4 pack). I couldn't find the bread nearby to start off. Then she instructed me how to activate the digital coupon so I would get the dollars off when scanning at the register. If we hadn't done that, we wouldn't have gotten the discount. read more

The Vons located on Spring Street is much larger than other Vons stores. It offers a wide variety of options with a fantastic deli, bakery, and meat counter. Service here is excellent and the store is clean, Clean, CLEAN! There is also a Starbucks located inside if you need a pick-me-up. Produce is fresh and well stocked. read more

Bakery did a great job on cake for graduation. It was last minute order on my part but turned out great and cake was delicious. I visited the Vons deli to order two custom sandwiches, and the experience was extremely frustrating. When we arrived, there was one customer ahead of us being helped, which I completely understand. However, there was only one employee working, and we waited about five minutes before we were even acknowledged. No one said "thank you for waiting," "we'll be right with you," or called for additional assistance. Once we were finally helped, the employee asked what bread we wanted and said he needed to get it from the back, making it sound like it was a burden to do his job. The process was also very inefficient. Each part of the sandwich order took several minutes, including the bread, meat, vegetables, and other toppings. Instead of asking for the full sandwich orders up front and gathering what was needed all at once, he asked one question at a time, walked away to get each item, and then came back to ask the next question. This made the order take an unnecessarily long amount of time, especially since we were in a rush. The employee's attitude was also disappointing. When we asked for cucumber, he responded in a rude tone, saying, "Well, I need to check if we even have any." Cucumber is listed as an available option, and this is a grocery store, so it was frustrating to be made to feel like we were asking for something unreasonable. Overall, the service was slow, inefficient, and unprofessional. For two sandwiches that cost around $20 total, I expected a much better customer service experience. read more

Definitely way better than the Vons at traffic circle. I started driving to here even though it's a bit farther only because parking is better and the team members are friendly and helpful. The layout here is also better and cleaner than the other location. Since this is bigger there a lot more items too. Items here are always on stock unlike the one in traffic circle. Can't really give this place a fair assessment for shopping other than I stopped in to use their CA lottery machine to purchase my weekly allotment of scratchers. The customer service at this Vons is unmatched. This was the second Vons I went to grab meat counter bacon. Although the main person was at lunch , the manager Ariel happily assisted. I am so grateful to the team at this vons. Good afternoon, My husband went into your store this morning to get some items for me since he had just picked me up from having eye surgery. He went to the Deli counter and asked a young man for Habanero Chicken. He asked for particular pieces because the others looked dry. The man said they all came out at the same time. My husband still asked for the pieces that he wanted and the young man said "I'm not doing this today!" He husband then said, well keep it and walked away. The young man then said "What's your problem dude!" I've been a customer of your store for over 6 years and always found it to be a pleasant shopping experience. I work down the road at Clark and Spring so it make it easy to pick up the things I need nearby. My wife and I were looking for a scale to weigh a very large beet. There were two people working in the produce section at the time. I asked one of them where the scales were. Without looking up from what he was doing he said "on the other side of the watermelons." I know the other person working in that section heard me ask the question. I couldn't see where the watermelons were and said to my wife "he said the scales are by the watermelons but I don't know where the watermelons are either." I believe both employees heard me say that although I suppose they could both be hard of hearing?? Neither looked up or made any comment. My wife (who is much more impatient than me) then said "let's just go, I don't think anyone is going to help you." I was disappointed and surprised at the lack of courtesy and poor service. I have mixed feelings about this place. Maybe it's the pandemic. I dunno... PARKING LOT. Surprisingly unkempt shopping center as far as cleanliness given the location is in one of the nicer parts of Long Beach. Trash can not emptied (glad trash is making it into the trash though) and overflowing. COVID PRECAUTIONS. Inside, this store is always very well set up. Even during the beginning of the pandemic when I could not find Bisquick for the life of me at any store, they had sheets of plastic covering everywhere and an employee posted out front to sanitize the carts. Now, sanitizer is available right when you enter the sliding doors. Very accessible and I have yet to see it empty. Carts are always available in the cart corral, and their weekly circulars are also always available. My fav section is the BAKERY. Love, love, love their selection of goodies. Really. Just perusing through gives me immense satisfaction. They sell whole pies and half pies, fresh baked bread, par baked bread, baklava, cinnamon rolls (also my fav), panettone for days... seriously--like year-round, fruit tarts, cookie platters, cakes for all occasions, donuts, muffins.... you see where my happiness comes from at Pavilion? I got to this place only when I can't find something at Stater Bros. The people are super friendly, prices aren't terrible, that's the upside. The reason I avoid this place is they don't have a 15 items or less checkout with a person. It's either self checkout or you're lumped in with people with full carts. I show up with half a hand basket with three things and some alcohol. So no matter what, I have to wait forever. And they seldom have baggers in the check out lane. Please management help the pharmacy be better. The service is so disappointing. The people behind the counter are often short, rude or just plain angry. For some time I visited a pharmacy much further away to avoid these workers but it would be preferable if they were just kinder or at least not so cold/harsh. I understand it comes from the top - so please don't be hard on them. They don't need to be any angrier. Perhaps their manager needs to change the culture of the pharmacy and likely begin treating them better or running the place better so they are not over worked. I'm just guessing as to why they are so miserable and take it out on customers. I've given up on having any type of decent human interaction every month when I pick up my family's medications. Y'all....I went to pavilions thinking it was going to be a step above the rest because that's what they like to tell you lol...I bought a bouquet of flowers for $50 thank God the wknd was blowing because the wind blew back the wrapping and I can see the webs and mold in the bouquet. I brought it back and the clerk at the front let me know I could have the floral dept MAKE ME A NEW FRESH BOUQUET.....already from jump they told me pavilions is a step above VONS and they would be charging me 20% to make the bouquet (which is why I bought a premade one) You would have thought the inventory was coming out of their savings account the way they wanted to not give me what I was asking for.... They couldn't make me the premade bouquet so I had to settle on putting two other bunches together....when I tell you I am NEVER going to pavilions again lol this is crazy. Vons is the correct brand for this store, and the change should have been made over a decade ago. Anyone who thinks it's a downgrade is delusional as it's the same chain, Albertsons-Vons-Pavilions. Pavilions has a unique list of specifications that this location has never had, and furthermore wouldn't be appropriate (Pavilions today are basically just Albertsons/Vons stores with different ambiance, mega sized liquor departments and a outsourced seafood dept) Longtime Pavilions shoppers familiar with the chain would always find this to appear to be like a "bootleg" store since the Pavilions features and decor were stripped away over a decade ago. During the previous remodel it was downgraded and given a plain, cheap Vons interior layout and decor that lacked the ambiance of a real Pavilions. For some misguided reason there are many reviewers here who believe that the food is different between a Vons, Albertsons, or Pavilions when it all comes on the same exact truck from the same exact warehouse distribution center. They think somehow now the bag of Signature brand salad is somehow made with poorer quality lettuce and dressing because the sign changed? Really? The real difference between a Vons and Pavilions is obvious to anyone who walks into a real Pavilions like Seal Beach. Pavilions is the brand used for stores with massive, oversized liquor departments and wine cellars now - something that this store has never had and wouldn't be appropriate for the family oriented neighborhood. Pavilions also outsources the seafood department with a franchise of Santa Monica Seafood. Past that the meat is the same, produce is exactly the same, prices are the same, everything else is the same. All the changes being described to the assortment and pricing have happened at every other Vons, Albertsons, and Pavilions this year - the customers are just noticing it and making the incorrect assumption that for example the new spice aisle happened because the stores brand is changing. No longer will Pavilions shoppers walk into this store and be disappointed by its misrepresentation of that brand and what it stands for. They should have changed the sign to Vons or Albertsons a decade ago because that is what this store was then and still is today, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Another area that people don't seem to understand is that the more they use curbside pickup services, the more the store will convert from regular checkout to self checkout. Once again there is a misconception that the stores are slashing labor and costs when the reality is they're moving the labor from cashiers to order pickers. In the time a cashier can ring up two dozen customers they MIGHT be able to pull half of one order for a curbside pickup customer. How else would the stores be able to do this service without hiring lots of extra people to do all this excessive work because customers are too lazy to shop for themselves? Do you really think their unions would allow them to just eliminate the cashiers and replace with self checkouts? Of course not. Plus many of the cashiers that now go around and pick orders are happier with that job because they are less susceptible to repetitive strain injuries from standing in place for eight hours scanning your groceries. The stores that don't have self checkout like Trader Joe's? They also won't shop for you. The cost of curbside pickup is too high and if they left checkout alone they'd have to hire dozens of extra workers for the curbside orders and how do you think they'd pay for that? By raising prices for everyone else! I'm not going to pay higher prices because you decided you wanted someone to push a cart around for you and get everything on your shopping list. Self checkout is your punishment for using these convenience services, and frankly speaking both should go away because the stores are forced to create "first class" customers that get curbside pickup by creating "third class" customers on self checkout. (They do need to figure out the concrete floor situation though - ironically they gave it the polished concrete floor that new Pavilions stores get even though they were rebranding to Vons, but they probably weren't expecting weird patches of pink and brown cement mixed with gray - it's really ugly and detracts from the store) read more

People want quality and it has definitely gone down. Went to Pavilions recently and cringe whenever I walk in knowing that something is going to be less quality than we've been used to. This now means we will have to do our grocery shopping at Gelsons which is over 3 miles away! We loved the quality items provided when this was Pavilions and have been slowly seeing the items we would normally shop for no longer on the shelves. Really concerned about the high quality produce this location provided--will it still be the same? Will the deli selection maintain the Boars Head brand? Will the quality fresh meats/fish still be available? I already see the meat department items have changed. Even the Asian/Mexican food items have been reduced to a tiny area in a back aisle. No more Morton & Basset spices. Such a shame. The quality items was our main reason for not shopping at Amazon Fresh or Stater Bros down the street. This is a grocery store we used to love and trust. Okay. Not impressed. We have been coming to this store for 16 years. Pavilions was great. I know it was slipping with Covid, but the Vons change just isn't working for me. Gone are the express lanes. Replaced with self check out which I'm sure is great for the company (less labor), but what is my incentive (not lower prices or service). Packaged beef and chicken have no color, and beef looks fatter. Been twice in two weeks and walked away without out any. Where did the nice red meat and thin but boneless rib eyes go?? My experience here was alright. I appreciate that they are open late, as most places with healthy options close pretty early. However, I was disappointed with the quality of the store itself. I went to get some yogurt, and the two containers in the front were heavily damaged and past the expiration date. I had to dig in the back to find one that was fresh. I noticed this same issue with several other things in the store. If this issue were fixed, it would be a good grocery store. read more

I work for Doordash and I deliver from your store almost every day. I honestly have to say the pay rate is soo poor. Sometimes I drive 30min to complete a delivery for only $10-$14 that includes tip. Then I have to waste more time delivering to people who locations are difficult to drop off. For example today. I delivered groceries to Anaheim (Disneyland hotel) I had 7 bags full of groceries 2 24pks of water and 2 12pks of soda. I had to take it to the 3rd floor. Parking was horrible.! At this point I'm outside my area so I have to drive back another 30min to get another Doordash order. I understand its part of my job and what not but come on keep it local.! 18 miles outside the city? Thats ridiculous.!! I definitely expected more from a nice place like Pavilion. read more
