    Easter bouquet cakes
    Brenda L.

The good: Overall, this market is pretty good but hasn't been my go-to market despite it being closer to me than other markets. The layout here is different than most grocery stores. The fruit section is in the middle of the store and the bakery is in the middle toward the back (rather than on the sides like they usually are). They had some beautiful madeleine cookie cakes here that I've never seen made elsewhere. For mother's day, they also had a cupcake flower bouquet and many interesting and pretty Easter baked concoctions. Their bakery section is superb! They also sometimes have outdoor furniture. My family friend said Pavilions is a fancier Vons. This is the only Pavilions I've been to. The bad: Prices for a lot of other items are quite expensive here. I came for flowers once and things weren't super fresh. The selection was sparse. The interesting: They have a huge wine section with a counter that seems to have wine tastings.

Wow! I can't express enough gratitude to the talented decorator of the cake we just received. Thank you! I shared a picture of my vision, and it far surpassed my expectations! Not only was it stunningly beautiful, but it was also incredibly delicious--especially the raspberry jelly filling. I'm so impressed that I can't wait to order my daughter's graduation cake here next month!

here's the apology ... Thanks but Im Embarrassed .
    Dawn S.

I've been shopping here since I moved to Rancho Palos Verdes in 2019 and i've always had a pleasant experience until yesterday . I gave the new cashier a $20 for a $5 bag of popcorn and she swore up and down I handed her a $5 bill. She embarrassed me in front of all these customers and workers and treated me as if i was trying to get free money from the store . The manager told me to leave my number and they would call me if her register was over . I got a call to come get my money and a apology but i'm still mad and embarrassed . They customers she embarrassed me in front of don't know she made a mistake . She had me looking like a thief and a problem ... This is not about the money ... it's about the embarrassment . Please make sure your cashiers are checking the bills correctly so this don't happen to anyone else . I had a headache since yesterday .

Items can be pricy here, but sometimes you can get good deals by using their "just for U" coupons on the Pavilions app.

It's great to have this supermarket oasis on the peninsula. The loss of one star is that they sell The Epoch Times. That's not a fair newspaper and should not be sold next to the Los Angeles Times. While Conservatives and Liberals should all be less antagonistic towards each other and be free to think what they want... having this newspaper in the store is like selling MAGA hats at the check stands. Feel free to wear a MAGA hat but if you push them on me while shopping, I will shop elsewhere. And if I continue to see the Epoch Times being sold alongside real newspapers, I will shop elsewhere. The deli for example have one person who regularly jumps between the busy deli & fresh fare sections while the other employees are standing in their adjacent sections like cheese and bakery without any customers and not helping the deli section when there's a long line of people. The deli employee then needed change for the register and nobody came to help or cover so she went away to get cash for the register. Unfortunately this isn't one off. I've been here at different times of the day as this is my local grocery store and have witnessed this repeatedly. Several of these employees were vocal about how they've asked the manager Yoli for help and she doesn't care. They say they're told by Yoli to stay in their sections and not help each other. Either staff the busier sections with more than one person or allow nearby employees to jump in and help. Inefficient managing.

My main gripe about today's visit is that there was only one cashier who was in deep conversation with the customer in front of me. Granted she was assisting the customer with a concern, but I was in a hurry. I could have used the self service checkout, but I had fresh poke which I love from the self serve station. I didn't have the code to get a price ($22.00 for a pint), which is way out of line for the size of the container, but then again they used fresh fish in the poke and not fish that was previously frozen. The store is well stocked and neatly organized. The meat counter and deli service is outstanding. They just need more cashiers at this store, at least one more to accommodate the line.

Review #866 2025-038…read more I first discovered Grocery Outlet about a decade ago in Fresno, & was attracted to the unusual finds at a "grocery store," such as an Olaf bike helmet, Curious George: Discovery Beach Game, etc. The first S. Bay store opened 6 years ago in Redondo Beach, just before COVID-19; it's a bit out of way to shop there. And about a year ago, they took over the former Big Lots location in Lomita. What is Grocery Outlet? They're a discount grocery chain that sells name brand groceries & fresh produce for 40% - 70% less than conventional grocery stores. How? By buying overstocked, seasonal, closeout, & discontinued items from various suppliers. This "opportunistic buying" allows them to acquire items at significant discounts, which are passed on to us. My 14 YO daughter's swim team does this away meet "gift" (junk) exchange where they create a goody bag filled with their fav snacks & drinks. They're kids so it's obviously junk foods & sodas, except for the handful who treat each meet with consideration of this bag o' treats may hinder their performance. I'm grateful for the less expensive options at Grocery Outlet. Since I don't agree with their choices, I started creating my own carbo-load sustenance (fresh fruits, granola bars, nuts, etc.) on competition days. Grocery Outlet offer pretty great deals on fresh fruits, I especially loved the 2-lb. strawberry pack that my husband got recently... so fresh, juicy, & sweet! I got some red cherries (at $2.99/lb.) that were sweet too! Not all produce offer better quality & prices, I'd say it's more like 50-50. Another recent find was A-Sha Spicy Seaweed (only 99¢) & Keroppi Mandarin Noodles with Silly Spicy Sauce (60% discount). Store hours are 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM daily, just a couple hours shorter than the traditional stores. Wide aisles are well-stocked & organized, but you may not always find the same products at your next shopping trip due to opportunistic buying, & what may be priced that day may be priced differently the next day (e.g. Quaker Chewy Limited Edition Valentine Minis: Chocolate Chip with Sprinkles was 99¢, & 2 days later it was $3.99). Also, it's important to check the expiration dates for those too-good-to-be-true deals, they usually have a short expiration dates or are already expired. Yikes! There's usually only 1 register opened even when there's a line, I wish they would opened another register, but the cashiers are typically quick that sometimes I have to load my own bags. Sign up for the WOW! Crowd with your mobile number to enter sweepstakes, track savings, & purchase history. Download the app to see what's in store, get access to insider events, & digital offers, including a $5 off $25 coupon at registration. Grocery Outlet may not be our main go-to store, but it's certainly a great back-up to the traditional stores.
