I have been meaning to do this for years. Today (as always) I was in for my almost daily shop. I get bored with food so I need to shop each day for my dinner. Maribel asked if I saw the Lobster tails in the seafood. I said no.....She said come....... 12 tails later..Uh Duhh. In the freezer for later. The whole staff is well trained and guided. I wish I knew everybody name to thank but Maribel is always there and is so pleasant and we share food recipes. Jason was my checker today and as always smiles and says thank you like them all. I needed to order a cake for my son's birthday, and typically I go to Torrance Bakery for his/our cakes. This year (due to Covid), they told me that they could not make the cake that I get for his birthday every year. I couldn't believe it - a bakery couldn't make a cake that I *always* order *every* year... I didn't know what to do, but I thought why not at least try and see if possibly Pavilions would make the cake (it's a very specific type that we get: one layer of chocolate, one layer of white with custard and fresh strawberries in between with colorful buttercream frosting). Angie picked up was super sweet and told me that she was confident it would not be a problem but also let me know that she is a bit new so I should call back the next day before 1 p.m. and speak to a manager just to be certain. When I called back, I was told it would not be a problem for them to fulfill my request. Every single person in the bakery was absolutely wonderful. I had to call a few times for different reasons (to see if they could make it, to double check, and to see if they could alter the design slightly), but each time, the person on the other end was amazing. I wish I knew everyone's name so that I could leave a shout out for *everyone* who helped me, but I know Angie's name because she helped me more than once (and each time, I felt really happy and thankful for her customer service skills which have always been above and beyond - she was always friendly, kind, understanding and abundantly *patient*). So, thank you, Angie!!! Thank you to ***all*** of you who have allowed my son's 10th birthday to be a success ;) (especially during this crazy time)!!! :)))) It is important to note how difficult and stressful it must get at times for essential workers these days and much (more) credit they deserve for showing up with smiles and positive attitudes. The shelves are always well stocked. The fresh produce is lovely, Ken makes sure of that. You have to pay attention to the weekly sales for the best deals. Some items are buy a minimum of 5, but you often get nearly half price when you do that. Maribell is always happy to help find the customers a good deal. The staff here is so nice. read more

UPDATE: Guess I wasn't the only one. They ripped out the brand new express lanes and put in self checkout! Although they still have another issue. Actually having them open. The other night self checkout was closed at 8pm. I asked why and was told they only had one checker. What? Isn't this self serve? I didn't follow up just happy progress is being made. SLOW! I have always had one major issue at this store. It takes forever to check out! There is nothing fast about their express checkout lines! Unfortunately the new remodel didn't helpinc! They now have 3 quick stations that feed from a single line. The problem is if you only have one cashier it is still as slow as watching paint dry. Yesterday I needed two bags of ice. This store is 5 mins closer than Ralphs. My ten minute visit was 1 min getting the ice and 9 minutes waiting in line. Next time I'll drive the 5 extra mins. This is the market I go to for convenience. It's just down the hill and it's located in a shopping plaza that has everything you need, and parking is never a problem. Inside, you'll find everything you think a grocery store should have. It's clean and lines are never super long. So if you know where and what you're looking for, you can probably be in and out in a few minutes. Hungry? No worries. Pavilions has Panda Express inside if you're in the mood for Chinese take-out, and there is a place you can sit and enjoy your meal. Need internet? This place provides free wi-fi, so if you're looking for a place to study, this place wouldn't be a bad place to come to. Plus, food is a few feet away, so brain food is always in abundance. Going on a date? Pavilions has a floral shop that guarantees their flowers stay fresh for 7 days or your money back. Hm, I sound like a bad infomercial, but it's okay. Last week I went to my usual grocery store, Pavilions in the Peninsula Center in Rolling Hills Estates, CA. I spend on the average $30,000.00 a year on food and wine there but that is all to end now! A young female employee, that I've never seen there before harassed me about the placement of my mask on my nose. She wouldn't let up so I removed the items from my cart and walked out of the store. She rudely said "Good, leave!" Management needs to school these rude entry level employees on customer service. Pavillons has lost a great customer because of this non customer savvy girl. So I apologized and asked if she could buzz a bakery employee for me so i can get this cake and be on my way. She went on to explain that "SHE IS THE BAKERY DEPT," but doesn't know how to write on a cake.........?? Seems like a basic in the bakery dept. I walked away dumbfounded. it didnt help that she continued to follow me around to see if i was going to still buy the cake. After i lost her i bought the cake and decorated it myself at home. Very General Dinners for Sale! Advertised as "Banquet Style" Dinners Oh please...what a joke. Don't ever be suckered into buying their "prepared Thanksgiving Dinner." The gentleman on the phone told me it would be warm when we picked it up. We get there, the girl hands me a half cooked turkey and says you must cook at home for 2 more hours. The box of so called side dishes were almost as big a joke as the turkey. The mashed potatoes were the type you buy in the cold meat section in a plastic tub that are cooked but it takes you an hour to warm them up on top of the stop - same type of plastic tub with the stuffing and the cranberries. Last but not least, 12 semi-stale rolls and a very generic pumpkin pie they probably had previously had on sale for $4.99 For $49.95 I could have easily picked up a 10-12 lb. turkey and the boxed side dishes listed above for probably about half the price (I would have made my mashed potatoes and stuffing myself). At this point I really had no choice but to take the package - it was prepaid and it would have taken a long time to get the items in the store. I plan to make a formal complain to Vons Pavillons, not only for the totally uninformed guy who took my order telling me it would be warm when we picked it up, to the rip off of the items we received for the price. No wonder I shop Albertson's or Ralph's on a regular basis. I'll stick with them in the future. Vons has become a joke. Added Note: I called every store that offered the Thanksgiving dinners, even the other Von's Stores. The reason I went with Pavillions on the Hill was that the guy selling it to me practically guaranteed it would be warm when I picked it up. So much for trusting Von's employees. read more

Pavilions is an overpriced and disappointing grocery store. After moving to RPV from Utah for work, my initial visit was pleasant with the woman at the checkout stand striking up a conversation and showing interest in my move to the area; however, after the last few visits, my wife and I will be traveling a bit further to Ralph's. To start, the prices are ridiculous and the quality of many "made-in-store" items are well below what I would consider acceptable. Take for example the banana pie in the picture I attached which appears to have been made with bad oxidized bananas. On top of that, I have been treated very poorly at checkout stands and blatantly ignored at times. Many times the person at the checkout stand won't even say hello. My wife and I are in our early 30's and are younger than most of the people here, but I feel people overlook us because we look younger...I've never experienced this issue at Ralph's. Save yourself some time and money and drive a couple of miles to Ralph's, it's worth sacrificing a bit of convenience. read more

I really like coming to this store (especially early mornings) because it is clean, quiet, fully stocked, and the staff is so nice. Today, I was running in for just one item. But then wound up holding like 10 items in my arms as I was looking around the store. A staff member, Angie, came up to me and asked me if I needed a basket. Before I could even answer, she said, "I'm going to get you one", ran outside, brought one in, re-sanitized it, and gave it to me. Her kindness just filled me up and made my day. This isn't the first time a staff member has gone out of their way to check on me/assist. The manager has also offered to get me a basket (I should really always get a basket haha!) and all of the staff ask if I need help finding anything. The person who stocks the bread in the morning gives me a fresh bread and is super chill. Overall, I just want to say thanks to the team members for their service and kind hearts. You guys make for such a nice shopping experience. read more

It's the expensive version of Ralph's. (I do not know if they are affiliated with each other). Perks - fresh home made cakes, produce and products. Employees are helpful. Has flowers, a pharmacy, Panda Express and Starbucks inside the store. Dirts - EXPENSIVE! Not much selection of natural/organic products (or anything) that you would find from Whole foods or other grocery stores. Please save your money and shop where you can get quality for cheap from other grocery stores. Only shop here if you need something urgent and don't have time to go somewhere else. Also, if you can't find something at Rite Aid (which is in the same plaza) you will find it in here. read more

Like today, I got a panda bowl with fried rice and orange chicken. The orange chicken with crispy and overcooked, how can you mess that up it's one of their staples. I went to this Pavilions needed to buy Halloween cupcakes for my coworkers. And to my surprise they had really cute ones too. But on their display table they only had 12 packs of cupcakes and I only needed 6. I'd asked someone who's name was Juan who worked in the bakery dept. to see if I could only buy 6. He was so sweet. He went to the back, picked out perfect looking cupcakes and added brown and orange chocolate shavings on top of each themed frosted cupcakes! We've used this bakery for three birthday cakes now, each a different design (photo of jungle cake attached--I supplied the trees and animals) and we absolutely love it. They are helpful and friendly and the cakes came out great. They're also delicious and affordable--I paid three times as much at a specialty bakery for a cake that wasn't half as good. First of all, I literally had to "hunt" for a So Bay Bakery to make a Coconut Creme Sheet Cake for my brother's 60th BDAY Celebration. While all the others I called automatically said "no" or were ridiculously pricey, Joel said he'd do whatever he could so that we had a perfect cake. And boy, did he! It was delicious and far exceeded expectations. What a breath of fresh air to deal with an employee who obviously takes pride in and cares about what they do. I would give the bakery dept. a 0 star if I could! I called the bakery department to have them hold a birthday cake for me and was told that they don't hold cakes and that it was a store policy. I was told they had 2 cakes of the type I was looking for and to come in and take a look and they would "probably" still be there.( I already called other local stores and nobody had it). I told her I definitely wanted it, and that I could come later to pick it up so she didn't need to worry that I wouldn't show. She repeated again that they don't hold cakes.This didn't sound right to me as I had other bakery items held for me there in the past. I called the manager and was told that he would be more than happy to put a cake on hold for me, and that it was NOT store policy to not hold cakes for customers. I would give the store manager 5 stars or even 10 if I could. He went out of his way to accommodate me and apologized for the error. I told him I was VERY appreciative of his help. When I went to the bakery department in the store to pick up my cake, I was scolded by the woman in the bakery and she was angry with me because her manager came to her and discussed the issue with her. I just stood there in shock! I couldn't believe that I was being chewed out by her over a mistake that I didn't make. I have NEVER been scolded and treated this way by anyone in a grocery chain. I was as polite as possible and just wanted to get the cake and leave as fast as possible. My adult daughter was with me, and she couldn't believe that we were treated in such a manner. The manager gave me a discount on the cake, which was not necessary but VERY nice. I know he wanted to help make my experience at Pavillions be a good one. I saw they had a deal for 2 for $3 energy drinks. When I got to the register they rang up as a higher price. The cashier had another employee check the price and told me I was mistaken. I then went to see what the sign said, and she had taken it down. When I confronted her, she lied, and said she did not take down the sign. They have a disengaged management and labor force, as many grocers in this area do. If they fail to stock a product or prices at the register do not match those on the shelf, the usual response is "That's a problem with the corporate office. 'They' control that." That attitude and excuse wears thin with rising prices, and many other markets in the area to choose from. If all of the markets sell exactly the same things, why go to one over the other? The staff here seems not to care whether or not we show up. Replace management and retrain staff. There are many people in the nation who need jobs. I just came from the store again looking for Lean Cuisine Veggie Scramble. There was a tag on the shelf but they put one Turkey Sausage breakfast at the front of the empty space. Why not just stock what you advertise? I know the product moves. I buy several per week and the on hand stock typically runs out. In fact, they stock literally a dozen, maybe two dozen, different frozen breakfasts with meat and perhaps one or two meatless choices. Avoid this store until they figure out they are there to serve customers, not the other way around. read more

A good neighborhood grovery store with plentiful selection. Staff is quite helpful.

I love their bakery (chocolate croissants) and their pharmacy (No lines like CVS). They have a great selection of everything because they are so big. Also a Panda Express, Starbucks, RedBox and Coinstar. My only suggestion would be to have more prepared meals like Fresh & Easy. read more
