I recently lost my two old lady kitties. They were 18 & 16. I searched the internet for a kitty to adopt. Paw Placement has a handsome boy who grabbed my heart. I sent a msg and filled out an application the next day. Today I get an email advising because I checked indoor/outdoor they would not allow me to adopt from them. I brought my friend who was using a walker to PetSmart to adopt a cat. There was another appointment before us and so we patiently waiting over 2 hours. A volunteer with round, blue glasses continued to look at us through the door but never came out to update us on the progress of the other appointment. Finally this unkind lady came out and curtly informed my friend that it would be "a real challenge" for her to have a cat and refused to make another appointment for her. She said we should go to the Humane Society where they were not so particular in who they allow to adopt their animals. My friend was emotionally crushed and heartbroken. What a cruel and unkind thing for that woman to say!!! I am simply stunned at her rudeness and how cruel she was to someone who was physically handicapped. I recused an older 8 yr old cat from Paw Placement. The volunteer told me she had mites and had been being treated. I have a ranch with a house full of animals so I certainly didn't need another animal. However , this kitty appeared so sad. I was drawn to her through the glass window and it just broke my heart. Of course her story was very sad , so I paid and I took her home. It was a struggle getting her out of her small cage but she put up no fight once we made the decision. I started treating her for mites as what was suggested. However ,she started sneezing and had running eyes immediately. I've never had any cat or dog with kennel cough - I was told she had just seen the vet and been cleared and that I had a free wellness exam within 30 days. I didn't want to crate her again as it freaked her out as she'd been returned to Paw Placement before so I waited to see if the medication I had worked. It didn't. When we took her to the vet who is contracted and represents PETSMART they were all about selling and charging. The vet bill they proposed was nearly 200.00 and the vet had seen her only just one week prior! They even said she needed a shot that was due. What a racket ! I refused to pay one cent and the vet went through the contact and backed down. She's making a fortune. First you pay good money to rescue and then the cat that is sick and then they try to charge you ! When I brought her in she peed all over and wouldn't go into the crate. I had to push her in- it was heartbreaking. Obviously, she thought she was headed back to that cage. What's happened is ...all my animals now have kennel cough! 4 cats , 2 dogs and my 18 year old had to go to the emergency vet. Jill , the top person besides , Tommy , the owner , have great lip service. She promised me medication for all my animals after stating it's no big deal ! Yeah right . That's way all my animals are sick now . She said, "it will just go away and it doesn't call me ". She never returned my calls . I've spent a lot of money and it's a pain medicating 6 animals twice a day through the mouth for weeks. BEWARE as they are extremely cavalier and everything from the vets office is blamed on the volunteers while she's clearly not taking the care of the animals seriously. My attorney said "most likely all the animals are carrying this sickness and all should be medicated and cleared prior to adoption." I didn't know better and this is why I'm posting. I believe that good people are being taken advantage of through PETSMART's sloppy PAW PLACEMENT and the vet is a complete ripoff sales gouging operation. My new kitty is making herself comfortable in our home and I am very grateful that she has a loving now. read more

Uptight, unresponsive rescue. They refuse to even tell you the adoption price unless you bother to fill out an adoption form. They can't answer a simple question. There's only so much I'll pay, so why bother filling out a form without knowing ? I'll adopt elsewhere. read more

I inquired about a kitten over a week ago and was really excited when I received a text message and email from Karen, the adoption manager, that the kitten was still available. I emailed her back and asked to set up a date the next week when my boyfriend was free so we could both meet her. I received no response and I found out this morning by looking on the website that the kitten was no longer available. I'm happy the kitten found a home, but was disappointed by the lack of communication from the manager herself. Highly recommend adopting elsewhere. read more

Paw Placement is like a breath of fresh air in what can be a very dismal and depressing line of work. Animal rescue is of such importance and rarely gets the attention it deserves. The directors and volunteers of Paw Placement truly make a difference---that deserves a stellar review. We first encountered this rescue when we adopted our cat from them 4 years ago. The first thing I noticed was its criteria to adopt an animal from them. Their guidelines are in place to ensure a pet doesn't go to just any home, that it will be cared for and loved. Also, they are sure to socialize their adoptable animals to give that dog/cat the best chance at being adaptable in a new home. The directors of this rescue are informative, helpful and obviously passionate about what they do. It shows in the way the rescue is operated and in the dedication given to homeless animals. When we decide to add another furry member to our family, we will certainly go to Paw Placement. Thank you for all you do! read more

I hardly ever write these reviews but felt the need to make other people aware of what we experienced. Surprisingly we'd heard great things about Paw Placement. We submitted and application last week and our little boy was extremely excited to meet the pup before his baseball game today. Unfortunately this ended up being a terrible experience with a woman named Tammy. When we showed up this morning she denied receiving our application which was a blatant lie. She'd exchanged messages with my wife on Facebook and we'd received an email confirmation. Tammy was hostile, rude and would not allow a 'meet and greet' despite the dog being present without other applicants. The manager of Petsmart was extremely apologetic. Sadly the puppy we'd hoped to bring home and take care of was taken back into foster care without permanent placement because of this woman. We even later returned to consider adopting another pup as our son was very upset only to be turned away by Tammy and denied adoption telling us to "go to the pound." Unbelievable, unprofessional and unacceptable. These dogs need loving homes. read more

I think it's great Paw Placements is rescuing dogs, but my family recently adopted a 3 month old puppy which turned out not to be the "right" dog for our home. I think their criteria for adopting is basically anyone who wants a dog. Our family spent 1:1 time with the puppy and we had some concerns about the dogs reaction to our 2 young kids because he was biting and jumping on them. The director said that this "breed" is not known to be aggressive and is just playing. We had other concerns and the answer was basically "he will be great with young kids and he's an easy dog", so we took the leap of faith after taking the advice of Paw Placements since we were new pet owners. After taking the puppy home, things got really bad. The puppy kept biting our kids (playful or not, it hurts), jumping on them, could not be crated without non-stop barking and waking up everyone in the house. We emailed the director with our concerns and she was very good a responding, BUT everything she said about the dog was really not true. I looked on the Paw Placements website and found the listing for the puppy we adopted and it said "good w/ older kids". I mentioned to the director that if I would have known this to be the case, we would have NOT adopted the dog. They do have listings that say "good w/ all kids". Sounds like Paw Placements knew something we had to find out the hard way. Long story short, we had to return the puppy because he could not be with our young kids safely. It seems like Paw Placements is more concerned about rescuing dogs vs getting them adopted to the right family. Although our experience is different than Jordan G's review, it similar in that Paw Placements adopted a dog to the first person who was physically present and not the person who corresponded via email who actually may have been a better fit. My advice is if you adopt a dog, good for you. Make the decision based 100% on what you think, not on the advice of someone at Paw Placements, because they just want to get the dogs adopted ASAP vs death! Sorry to be blunt, but it's the truth. Great experience, Paw Placement helped me find an awesome dog. The director did a wonderful job communicating with me by email and phone. When I went to see the dog they spent a long time with me to make sure that both the dog and I were a good match. This being the first dog I adopted on my own several volunteers at paw placement were very helpful with advice , recommendations and education. I was given a couple of phone numbers to call for any questions. All this happened over a year ago and I was so impressed with them I decided to write this review. Very disappointed. My boyfriend, myself and our current dog went to meet and hoped to adopt a dog that we really wanted. When asked what we were looking for I mentioned we didn't want a dog that would bite people when taken out in public. Bam! Our interview came to a screeching halt. The dog we wanted supposedly nips a bit. When I had said we didn't want a dog that bites I meant a vicious dog that would bite someone's face off or something. Tammy, the woman we talked to made a lot of assumptions to decide we were not a good match. We knew right away she had judged us from the beginning so we didn't pursue it any further. I emailed her twice explaining what I meant by "biting". She still said it was for the best. She doesn't know us. She doesn't know that I have never lived without a dog. Every dog I have owned has known they were loved. As far as I can see from the site, the dog I wanted is still available. read more

Paws Placement is absolutely the worst and most poorly managed pet adoption/rescue agency that I have ever come into contact with. My family and I recently had a heart crushing experience with one of their employees named "Halla". The interaction began with "Halla" arriving 20 minutes after the posted adoption time (i.e., 6-8 PM). "Halla" told us that she was late because she was hungry and had to go to Chick Fil A before coming to Petsmart. Although we thought that this was a bit unprofessional we explained that we had been waiting since 6 PM, as we had been in earlier and talked with another Paws Placement employee about reserving one of the kitties. Halla said that she was aware of this, as the other employee had informed her of the kitty that we had selected. My children and I were taken into the adoption room where my kiddos played with the kittens for about 30 minutes while Halla ate her Chick Fil A meal. After Halla was done eating we gave her our completed paperwork, and the money for the kitten that we had selected. Halla then became very upset after reviewing our paperwork and told us that she didn't like the fact that we had previously declawed cats. After speaking with us regarding her views on declawing, we agreed not to declaw the kitten. Halla then took our paperwork and money; telling us to wait in the adoption room while she processed our paperwork/payment for the kitty. Before leaving the room, Halla told my kiddos how happy they'd be with this kitty, as she was very sweet. After 5-10 minutes Halla returned to the adoption room where she had left us with all of the kitties roaming around and told us that she had changed her mind about adopting the kitten out to us. Halla went on to say that she didn't like that we had previously declawed cats, which made her very very upset. Halla was agitated and stated that she was a "cat mother". She began ranting and raving while holding her hands up to the sides of her head saying that, as a "mother of cats" she had a "sense about things" and just didn't feel right about adopting the kitten out to us especially since we had done something as terrible and awful as declawing our previous cats. We attempted to discuss the situation at hand with Halla and asked if there was someone else that we could speak with. Halla said that her decision was final and told us that we needed to leave, as she wasn't going to change her mind. Halla also said hat she had already left a message for a woman named Meagan Anderson (who is on the Paw Placement board), in order to ensure that our family wouldn't be able to adopt the kitten out. My kiddos left Petsmart sobbing and continued to cry throughout the evening.... Although it is indeed admirable that Halla is an advocate for cats, it is also extremely unprofessional and beyond sad that she has sacrificed part of her humanity in doing so. There was absolutely no good reason for Halla to have been so cruel a couple of kiddos who just wanted a kitten to love.... read more

This organization was willing and able to take in a stray cat from my area when no one else had "room at the inn" I had been feeding this little stray and had become very attached to it but could not adopt it. The lady that came to my house to pick up the stray was very sweet and caring. I could tell she truly had a heart for animals. I was so grateful that they were able to take it in this cat and care for it. They are now looking for a home for this cat. I will never forget how kind and caring they were. read more
