Your pets are in safe hands if you board with Dr. Karr and Cyd!…read more I boarded our corgi here for the first time ever after my friend (who has also left a review here) raved about Dr. Karr. We have a situation where our dog requires 5 different types of eye medication, three times a day in his eyes. So that means someone has to be able to give him the meds at night around 9 or 10. Until I heard about this place, the only place in town who could do this is Petsmart. No other boarding place has someone working there late at night. Cyd told me this wasn't even an issue and of course they'd be able to give him his meds whenever we said he needed them. So it was a non-issue. Unheard of. I spoke to them on the phone a few times and they reassured me Gryff would be in good hands. First off, they take your dog out six times a day. Without a charge. That's just normal and routine. This is UNHEARD OF, people. You're lucky if your dog can be let out more than twice and they get to be outdoors. Not in a room like at Petsmart. You also have the option to let your dog be taken out in a group of other dogs (so they get some play time) or they can go out with just the people. Since our dog is getting a little older, playing with other dogs is hit or miss. To prevent this, they just spent more time with him and said he was great! I've also been told by people at Petsmart that my dog gets put in "time out" because he'd bark at other dogs. He's a mediator. That's a trait of corgis; big dog in a small dog body. But they took it as him being "aggressive" and he wasn't allowed in the group plays. At Pittsfield Pet Care, Cyd told me he was fine. Sure, they spent more time with him than him with other dogs, but they said he was totally fine. I have to trust two people who know and understand dogs over a kid working in a pet store. Dr. Karr is a licensed vet so if something happens there is someone there who will be able to take care of them. This is extremely reassuring. Given our dog's medical history, and a slight toe injury he was getting over, it was good to know he'd be in good hands should anything happen. Bottom line: board your pet here. They're going to be in compassionate dog people who know, understand and love dogs like their own. Their rate is great too ($30/night) and we only had a pay an additional fee per day because of the amount of medicine he needs. The facility is clean, which is a big thing on my list too. Drop-off and Pick-up was a breeze and these two people are two of the most friendly and wonderful people I have met.

He even checks in as a Vet on my 2 dogs while they are boarding to make sure they always have what they need. I can barely hold the dogs back as they run to the door to get inside. Secret Shopper Here!…read more I do this for a living, usually have to report back to a certain upper, but at this extent I feel the need to put it on Google and yelp reviews so that the community would be aware I had a very disappointing experience at this pet store, and I won't be returning. The biggest concern was the overall health of the animals. Several pets did not appear to be in the condition I would expect from a store that is supposed to prioritize animal welfare. It's heartbreaking to see living animals treated as inventory instead of being properly cared for. The staff was another major issue. They were unfriendly, dismissive, and seemed to have very little knowledge about the animals they were selling. I was given incorrect information about proper reptile lighting, which could seriously affect an animal's health if a new owner followed that advice. A pet store should be a reliable source of accurate husbandry information, not misinformation. Customer service was just as disappointing. It was difficult to get anyone's attention, and when I finally did, I felt like I was inconveniencing the employees. The manager was rude, unprofessional, and showed little interest in addressing concerns or helping resolve problems. The store also had very little inventory compared to what was advertised, making the trip a waste of time. To make matters worse, they refused to honor valid, unexpired coupons and provided inconsistent explanations as to why they wouldn't accept them. I also noticed products, including food and medications, that appeared to be expired or approaching expiration. That's unacceptable for products intended to keep pets healthy. Overall, this store needs significant improvement in employee training, customer service, inventory management, and its commitment to both animal welfare and the customers who trust them. Until those issues are addressed, I cannot recommend shopping here.

This is a review for dog walking, doggy daycare, and dog boarding…read more I found Peaceable Pets after a very thorough vetting (I am convinced I should have been cast in the movie Best in Show--yes, that is how much of a crazy dog lady I consider myself). Time and again, people on the Ann Arbor Dog Owners Facebook group mentioned Peaceable Pets. I read all the reviews, stalked Peaceable Pet's Facebook page (where Robin posts videos of her guests and informative articles about all things animals), scrutinized the information on her website, did a meet and greet with Marcy, our dog walker, a play date at the Dellwood Doggy Ranch (required for doggy daycare and boarders). I give it 10/10 stars. Peaceable Pets is an Ann Arbor treasure. You will not find someone more knowledgeable about dogs than Robin. Some reasons I love what Robin offers: 1. She understands my dog's unique personality, quirks, and needs. 2. She prioritizes the safety, well-being, and quality of life for my dog. 3. The pick-up and drop-off times worked well with my schedule, which was variable for a while, and then predictable for another while. 4. I trust her 100%. 5. Every time I bring Hagrid to her, he bounds toward her and doesn't even look back to say goodbye. Every dog parent knows that is a good sign. 6. Hagrid is calm and content when he returns from daycare. ...I could go on and on. As for dog walking, Marcy was wonderful and reliable. A few times I bumped into Marcy while I was walking Hagrid and saw his entire body language and vocalization over his joy of seeing Marcy. There is no stronger endorsement than that, in my opinion. To top it all off, Robin and Marcy have really interesting personalities, back stories, and talents when they are not caring for our beloved animals. Marcy speaks French. Robin sings in a band. They are the absolute best.

Our experience with…read moreDr. Fung was terribly traumatic and made worse by how callously we were treated after the deaths of our beloved pets. I have filed a complaint against her license with the state. I was notified that my complaint was reviewed and approved by the board for investigation and that she is currently being investigated by the state and LARA. I have been advised this is a long process and I want to post our story to protect other families and their babies from this type of trauma. We took in our two kittens for routine neuter surgery and both kittens died while under her care that day. I was not notified by the vet herself that both of my animals had died, instead I was called by the office manager. When I arrived to say goodbye to my animals, Dr. Fung never came into see me or explain what had happened. Instead, she had the office manager who is a layperson, attempt to explain why my animals died. She explained that Dr Fung believed both kittens had a genetic anomaly and that both of them, and even their littermates, would most likely have died within a year. (I reached out to the owner of the littermates and they were seen by a cardiologist and scans showed them to have no genetic anomalies.) Dr. Fung took one X-ray of each of my animals post mortem. I was told by the office manager that the doctor was able to determine cause of death from this image and that no necropsy was needed. I was left alone with my two dead babies to say goodbye. When the office manager came back, it was to discuss billing and payment. I was told I could take their bodies and bury them myself or I could pay for cremation services. I told her I had prepaid for services and that I was overwhelmed at the thought of discussing billing during this traumatic moment. I left that day paying additional money to have their bodies cremated at my expense. I only was able to talk to Dr. Fung directly when I scheduled an appointment to discuss what happened to my animals. She said that my kittens had genetic anomalies that she could show me on the x-ray. She compared my kittens X-ray to a "healthy" cat's X-ray she pulled up online and gave a lengthy explanation of the genetic anamolies she saw in the X-ray. After leaving her office, I reached out to a trusted veterinary professional for help and it was recommended that the x-rays be reviewed by an independent party. After many requests for higher resolution images were denied, I persisted, and her staff finally provided images that were able to be reviewed. The independent review was not able to confirm the congenital defects she purported. She asked to review the report and her response was that the reviewers "primary concern seems to be aspiration pneumonia, which was not the case." She even went as far as to blame the length of time it took to acquire records and have them reviewed by saying, "you did not pursue action until well after the matter". She was unwilling to reimburse us for the cost of the review or any of the $1135.00 we had given her over the 8 days from when my kittens established care with a pre surgical exam to when they died in surgery. I have been advised that a single veterinarian should not have more than one animal under anesthesia at a time and I have not received a satisfactory answer as to why the second kitten was ever put under anesthesia if the first had coded during surgery. I have so many unanswered questions and I hope this review helps protect other families from this type of tragedy.

Fortunately, we found Synergy Animal Hospital on Yelp. They were the only animal hospital to offer us a same day appointment in spite of already being booked for the day. They tended to Lucy immediately and were very thorough in trying to determine what she had. They gave her outstanding medical care and were very knowledgeable, encouraging, patient, and caring. We took Lucy in a few more times to make adjustments to her medication and make sure she was on the path to recovery. I cannot say enough how much we appreciated the attentiveness and outstanding care they gave Lucy, and us. I highly recommend this animal hospital with two convenient locations to anyone who has furry family members.
