My daughter needed to get some gourmet (think refrigerated) for her new dog, so we tagged along. It's a very large store inside, with pets being encouraged to come in. The staff was super friendly and helpful. You will find a lot of brands that you don't see in the super-pet stores that we used to frequent. One interesting learning that I recently obtained is the existence and use of a 'bully stick' for dogs. Mud Bay has a large selection of all shapes and sizes.

The 2 large dog + 1 small/medium dog station are all connected and in the same space so just be mindful if you have a reactive dog or have hesitations about being around other dogs at the same time. They wash the stations in between use. There are a variety of shampoo options and hose + dryer were easy to use. They provide a small leash to keep your dog attached to the washing station too plus a treat for post-wash. Staff is very friendly!

She was fantastic at communicating and was the first groomer ever to actually listen to our requested haircut!! Having a doodle means a certain style of grooming, but we just needed her to be short all over and she's the only groomer that didn't question our decision and did exactly like we asked. We didn't need any touchups! (Which is a first). She was perfect! I highly recommend Astrid for grooming and will continue to book with her going forward!! We came specifically for some birthday hats and accessories and were pleased to find it close to the entrance. As we were trying different hats, one of the employees Arrow offered to take some pictures of our birthday girl and told us that they offered a birthday goodie bag. We were delighted to hear this as who doesn't want to spoil their precious puppy on their special day? It took only a few minutes for them to get us a bag and Arrow also mentioned that we get 25% off treats, toys and food that could be used with the same year. What a steal! We decided to get them some hides (our dog picked them out for his sister and himself) and dog food. We came in for a birthday hat but left happily with much more. My daughter couldn't find her email receipt to do the exchange, but the cashier/associate was able to look up the purchase based on the phone number and do the exchange without much problem. It did take a bit of time, so I had the opportunity to walk around the large store. Besides pet supplies for cats and dogs, it also sells/services fish and reptiles, including live bait and food. There is a Banfield Pet Hospital inside as well. Banfield and PetSmart continue to have a partnership (even though PetSmart no longer owns Banfield). We used to use them for our dog years ago, and learned that Banfield really depends on the veterinarian or chief of staff at the clinic. To complete a pet owner's need, the location also has a 'doggieday camp' and petshotel (overnight). My daughter told me that since last year, the the petshotel no longer has an employee overnight on-site. I also learned that Chewy was at one point, owned by Petsmart, but they split apart into separate entities. Chewy (as primarily an ecommerce company) now has greater net sales than Petsmart (2023)...really shows how ecommerce in many cases has overtaken retail for product (i.e. food) that works well on a subscription model.

I even agreed to go with a shorter cut to make things easier for her. However, after having my dog for two hours, she called and said his head was too matted to finish grooming. This felt more like an excuse than a genuine issue. It seemed like she didn't want to complete the job, especially since she already appeared behind and uninterested when I first arrived--she kept us waiting while she was outside vaping. I'm extremely upset that my dog was sent home like this. Not only did the groomer think this was acceptable, but the manager did as well. There was plenty of opportunity at check-in to assess whether the grooming could be completed. Instead, she shaved almost all of my dog's body and left his head untouched, making him look completely uneven. This experience was very disappointing. I will not be returning, and I strongly believe Kara O should not be handling dogs if this is the level of care provided.
