Don't let the name fool you! Payless Water Heaters is a top notch organization and worth the call! I'm so glad to have taken the chance and given them the opportunity to serve our needs. Wish I would have called them sooner. Saturday evening returned home from a day out and heard a dripping sound in the garage. Upon investigation, realized that water was dripping from the water heater drip pan. Noticed it wasn't coming from the drain spout and removal of the front cover, felt the insulation soaked and realized that it would be a replacement of the water heater. Sent out a request on Yelp and had several companies respond that they would reach out first thing Monday. Fast forward to this morning. Had a few companies come out and assess the situation and give me estimates. Having a differing range of estimates, decided to look at a few more companies. Payless popped up in the search and had stellar reviews. I reached out and was able to get an appointment for a few hours later which worked out great with my meeting schedule. About an hour before my appointment, I received a text with the name and picture of the technician and an approximate arrival time. Then about 20-30 minutes before, I received a call confirming the technician and arrival time. This was awesome as it allowed me to continue working up until the time. Dustin B. Arrived right on time and greeted me with a smile. He was polite, cordial, and listened to the situation. He then inspected the existing water heater and presented me with an array of options and services. He took the time to explain each. The options presented were within the range of other estimates I had received but was not the lowest option and I was weighing the decision based on budget and our current financial situation. I explained that to Dustin and showed him an estimate that was slightly lower and he said to give him the opportunity to talk with his manager. He called his manager on the spot, explained my situation and the other quotes and Payless matched and beat the lower proposal while still installing a great product. Throughout the installation, Dustin kept me updated on the progress and was completed within 2 hours of arrival. There were quite a few different locations for Payless Water Heaters when looking up on Yelp, but I think they are all under the same umbrella. I am going to write this review here since my service area was San Marcos. From the first phone call with Payless, I was already impressed with their customer service. I sent on inquiry via their website after doing a quick web search and a customer service rep Josh had given me a call back within 30 minutes of me sending it. Josh was able to assist me right away in finding a power vent water heater that would fit in our space and also provided me with a rough estimate. Since we had been having trouble finding a power vent water heater at commercial big box stores, we decided to just get a licensed contractor to install one. I requested a technician come out and see our place the next day just to be sure. The next day, Rick and Scott came out and assured me that they had the right water heater in stock. Rick was very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He was able to answer all of my questions and gave us a great price. Power vent water heaters can get pretty pricey and Payless offered the best price out of the 4 different vendors I looked at. So, once we gave the go-ahead, Rick and Scott were able to haul away our old water heater and pick up and install the new one within hours. They also maintained open communication with everything that was going on during the installation. The overall customer service from Payless was exceptional. They had texted and e-mailed me exactly which tech was coming out and also called when he was near. I appreciated this courtesy since most companies just leave you guessing when giving you a time frame. After the job was done, a rep from the office had already called to see how the job went. You never know how valuable your water heater is until it breaks down on you. My husband and I are so thankful to have hot water again and grateful we found Payless. We really recommend Payless to anyone who needs a replacement. I am confident we will pass the city inspection, but if not, Payless has assured that they can come back if there are any issues to fix. read more

The team at Payless Water Heaters was very responsive. We started to message them on a Saturday after our Honeywell Leak Detector notified me of a leak at the water heater. (Our water heater was 17 years old so we knew a leak was eminent.) We shut off the water main and gas line. We also hooked up a hose to drain the water heater as much as possible. A sales rep came by on a Sunday and a tech installed the water heater on Monday. I requested to have a 50-gallon Bradford White power vent water heater and they said that they had one in stock ready to go. Water heater prices have gone up since COVID started, so we weren't too surprised about the price. They gave us a break by paying by check instead of credit card. Overall we had a great experience and the new water heater is self cleaning and super quiet. read more

Last night I had called Payless Water Heaters and spoke to Gabriella about my water heater leaking a lot of water. She was super friendly and answered all my questions. She put me on a brief hold so she could check to see if anyone could make it out there to check my heater. She came back and said that there wasn't anyone available but she could put me on the schedule for today from 11-1 and informed me that someone would call be 30 minutes prior to coming out. Fantastic! I was so relived that someone would come so soon. I did have plans to attend my girl friend daughters birthday party today at boomers but ended up telling her that I couldn't make it because I had someone coming out for my water heater. Today 11 came up and I hadn't gotten a call or anything but was fine with that because I was slated from between 11 and 1. No big deal. Noon came and still no phone call. Figured that they were normally like other people and will come at the last minute. Still had hope. 1 and then 130 rolled around and still no call and nobody came so I gave them a call. I spoke to another friendly lady and I didn't catch her name and explained everything to her. She put me on a brief hold so that she could figure out why nobody showed up. After a few minutes on hold, she came back on and apologized because Gabriella never put me on the schedule and the soonest someone could come out would be tomorrow! Having no water in a house of 3 for another day isn't going to work. Not only am I having to find someone else at the last minute but my important plans that I had today got wasted as I sat around waiting on someone to call and show up. It is now 6 PM and Mike S found a water heater squeezed into a small space, but completely and confidently removed the old leaker and installed a new one in the space of 2 hours without any additional help.
